Z77 GD65 Have I broken my power on jumper pins?

Hey,
So I bought a new case and I swapped everything and was struggling with the jumper cables and i think I bent a few of them in the process. Anyway, no biggie i thought I straightened them out and plugged only the power jumper cable. I press the power button and nothing happens and I assumed I got the positive/negative mixed up so I flipped the cable around and still nothing. My old case had a very long jumper cable so I plug that in press the button on the old case and still nothing. Try shorting it out with a screwdriver, nothing. Power on using the button on the motherboard and everything seems to be working the way it should.
So is it safe to assume that they are broken? If so how? Arent they just pins or is there more to it than that. Also what are my options now apart from opening up the side of the case every single time I want to power on or using WOL?

If you can not manage to repair the MB you can run the case switch wires to the PSU 24 pin plug. One way or another splice 1 wire from case power switch to pin 16 (it's the only green wire in the plug), the other case switch wire to one of the ground wires (black, doesn't mater which one you use). It doesn't matter what wire from the case switch goes to the PSU wires as it's an isolated loop between the switch and the 2 wires on the PSU so the polarity markings on switch wires the don't matter at all and can be ignored.
Best way to do it would be to get piece of wire the right size to fit the plugs from the switch, cut long enough to jam into the plug from PSU so it makes contact with the wire connector and then secure the switch wires to the PSU wires with tape or wire ties so they don't come lose. Doing it the way you won't void any warranty on your PSU. If no worry about PSU warranty then you simply splice the wires together and insulate splices with tape.

My iPhone 3GS keeps turning itself off all the time the power/sleep button dosent work so it's quiet annoying having to plug it in all the time dose anyone have a fix for this?

The "fix" is to get the phone repaired.  There's no magic solution for a broken phone.
Bring your phone ant $149 to Apple for an out of warranty replacement, or find a 3rd party repair shop near you.

It is unlikely but you can atleast try they might set it up for free but expect an email about paying 269 for physical damage

Have you tested with just RAM stick in the primary DIMM slot? Tested each stick individually?
I tested each stick individually. Each in DIMM 1.

Double check the PSU 8-pin CPU power and the mainboard 24-pin power cords are secure to the board.
    I checked, Its Ok.

Hello skdog I possibly think your ipod touch is black because it has not charged. If your dock is broken it might just mean the dock will be broken and so might be the USB port. You should see an Apple shop nearby and hand it over and see what they can do. I hope this information works!

  • Power adapter male pin BROKEN

My son called today with power adapter problems...took awhile for me to figure it out, but the tip of the adapter pin has apparently broken off inside the computers female power port. (the pin is flush with the metal collar while it protrudes about 1/8" on mine) I think it must have broken at the insulation.
If he's very careful, he says he can get the pin in and the battery still apparently charges but the light is always green.
How can he get the broken piece out of the computer and is there a replacement part for just the power jack??

Getting the stuck pin tip out of the computer is tricky. I have heard of people putting a drop of superglue on a thin object (like a nail) and inserting it into the hole, hoping to glue the nail to the pin without getting it on anything else.
I once removed a pintip that was loose in the jack by making a fine wire into a soldering iron tip, then quickly touching the pintip with a glob of solder then turning off the heat. It stuck and I pulled it out. I just didn't have any glue handy.
If you cannot get the tip out, you are likely looking at replacing the DC input board. Also, I have not seen replacement power plugs, so if you cannot fabricate from used adapters, you probably have to get a new power adapter.

No, that has never been the case. Apple has always by official policy declared that dents constituted user-caused damage, as they most certainly are, and therefore voided the warranty.
In any case, you've been given the facts. The damage to your iPhone has voided the warranty. So you can either pay for a replacement, or you can sell your damaged iPhone for whatever price you can get for it and go buy something else. There's nothing else anyone here can tell you.

  • OC on my 3770k [Z77-GD65]

Ok so i wanted to get more than 4.5ghz from my CPU (using Z77-GD65 mobo, and 10.10 BIOS).
    Settings
     multiplier 47
all power savings disabled (c-states, C1E, EIST,  turbo boost, Overspeed protection)
    vcore: 1.25(tried 1.27 as well)
    digital compensation level: high
    vdroop: auto
    internal pll overvoltage enabled
As soon as i reboot into windows, i get WHEA errors from the start, in event viewer, and prime95 crashes in 2 seconds !
    Must ask !!
What's CPU OCP expander, and CPU I/O voltage ?
I've set OCP expander to Enhanced, and I/O voltage to 1.11v
    its that ok ?
I mean how to play with I/O voltage ? Leave it default at 1.05 or mess with it ?

Hello Calin long time no see you in here and OCN ^_^
Btw I see your signature with 3770K @4.5GHz that needs 1.22volt, is it stable? If so I think for 4.6GHz you might need 1.27volt and then 4.7GHz perhaps you need 1.32volt. I usually used +0.05volt between clock to another clock.
You may try first at 1.30volt for 4.7GHz and test it with Cinebench R15, Hyperpi32MB, 3Dmark 2011.
For CPU I/O just leave it Auto if you use stock RAM speed (1333 - 1600MHz) and if you OC your RAM it will needs add volt, like 1866MHz or 2133MHz needs 1.100 - 1.150volt. Sometimes 2133MHz needs 1.20 - 1.25volt.

  • Z77-GD65 no display (MSI 770 TF)

Hi! I just recently bought a new video card, an MSI GTX770 TF 2GB, installed it and got a dE error code. It does not exist in the manual and I do not have any idea what this is. The video card works on my brother's PC with the exact same configuration. What is going on here. Can anybody please tell me?
    Regards,

I've tried the same card on my brothers PC and it works.
It works when I put back my old card, an MSI 560ti. I had to switch to my old card to flash the BIOS because I only get a blank screen or no signal when I use the new 770GTX.
We have the same configuration but the BIOS settings. He has 10.6 and I have 10.11
Tried flashing to 10.6 but still getting the DE code

A few days ago my G5 started to freeze up while in use. It doesn't matter if in Safari, iTunes, Pages, etc. The cursor will not respond nor does any keystroke, force quit, escape, etc. I have to hold the power button down to shut the computer down. Then, try to restart. Sometimes restart will work and the computer will work for a while and then freeze again. Other times on restart, instead of the Apple logo at start up, I get a Zero with a line thru it, have to power off and restart again. When it does restart, the "spinning gear" takes a lot longer than normal to spin up and take me to the login screen. Have been told it may be my hard drive getting ready to fail. Have looked at disk utilities, S.M.A.R.T looks fine, "verified" and have verified disk, and repaired permissions. In case it is the hard drive, I bought external hard drive and hooked it up to Time Machine. The backing up to a long time, overnight, about 10 hours because it kept freexing up and I would have to shut down and try restarting again. Finally got everything backed up.
Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated!!!   Could it be my hard drive is dying? Is the the normal chain of events or is it something else???

Ok, to copy the Drive from one to another, get carbon copy cloner to make an exact copy of your old HD to the New one...

    Or SuperDuper...

Believe it or not, anything on the Desktop uses 3 times the Resources of the Mac than if stored elsewhere, I can note a slowdown from just 30 items on the Desktop on a really fast Mac, so the less the better on the Desktop.
DW will not tell you about Bad Sectors, it's just the very best at Repair Directory damage & such.
At this point I think you should get Applejack...
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/15667/applejack
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 6 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 6 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
    Trash old Log files.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files! :-)
Disconnect the USB cable from any Uninterruptible Power Supply so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.

I still have a mac mini power pc g4 (os 10.4.11) that is perfectly good in use at my business. I have upgraded my mobileme on my other macs (mini using 10.6.3 & macbook pro using 10.5.8). Is it correct that I will no longer be able to sync to mobileme on this mini?

  • I have been able to wake my macmini by hitting the space bar - but since installing 10.7.4 using the 1.4Gb combo this wake method no longer works. Now the macmini shuts down, and I have to switch mains power off and on again before powering up the macmini

Since purchase of my macmini (2011 model) I have been able to wake it from sleep by hitting the (wired) keyboard space bar.
However, I recently updated the OS to 10.7.4 using the combo (1.4Gb) update, since when I cannot wake the macmini in that way.
Now, after putting the macmini to sleep, pressing the spacebar causes it to shut down.
I then have to switch mains power off and on again at the wall socket, after which the macmini starts up from shutdown condition.
I am by no means an expert, and have not been fiddling with settings, so I am in need of advice on what could need resetting to allow me to return to the previous simple 'wake up' approach!
    Thanks.

Reset the SMC > Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
    3. Wait fifteen seconds.
    4. Attach the computer's power cord.
    5. Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
Followed by resetting the PRAM > Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    3. Turn on the computer.
    4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    6. Release the keys.
Then if those do not fix the problem, you may need to reset your Energy Saver and Keyboard Preferences by readjusting them.

    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
