Z77A-G43 "B4" error code - Logitech G500 Mouse

Whenever I boot up or restart, the bios hangs at a "B4" error code. Some research shows that it's a USB error. Whenever I unplug the mouse, it starts fine.
My BIOS version is 2.40
Any help would be appreciated.

Also several release notes in the full release and beta bios of gaming mouse / keyboard compatibility fixes.

  • Z77A-GD80 Boot Error Code 55

Okay, let me start with my setup.
    CPU: i5 3570K
    MOBO: Z77A-GD80
    RAM: 4x16GB 2133 Patriot Viper 3
    PSU: Corsair AX850
    GPU: EVGA GTX 690
My rig is able to boot when more than 2 DIMM slots are used. It will post Error Code 55 and just try to reboot repeatedly with no luck. I tried the following method that worked on my old ASRock Extreme6.
    1. Turn system off
    2. Take all RAM out except A1
    3. Clear CMOS
    4. Set XPM Profile1
    5. Repeat steps 1-4 adding another stick of RAM until all 4 are installed.
To no luck, this method wasn't successful with the GD80.
    Any suggestions?

Do you have bios 1.0 installed?
1.1 was terrible for allot of us with the z77a-gd80.
    Try: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=160715.0
    Use the forums flash tool.
    >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
Then try with xmp disabled afer a full cmos clear.
Ps. Did you try each stick individually and each dimm by itself as well? (Check for bad memory / dimm/pathway etc)
I will flash BIOS to 1.0 this afternoon.
Yes, I tried each DIMM slot and all memory sticks work. I changed MOBOs from ASRock Extreme6 to the GD-80.
Thanks for the suggestion, I post results tonight.

  • MSI Z77A G43 A2 Error with Bluray SATA Drive

    Hey guys!
My old Asus P67 motherboard died last week so I bought this board as a replacement. I plugged everything correctly and it seemed to work at first. PC booted fine into windows and I was able to play all my usual games and do my usual stuff.
After an hour or so I restarted the PC after installing the new chipset driver and LAN + Audio driver. I then got the A2 problem. I get this error code before the BIOS Picture. I googled around and it seems to be a problem with the SSD/HDD connectors or something. I then went about trying to find out which drive was causing it and it was my Bluray SATA Drive. The PC will start fine if I do not connect it, but once I do I cannot get passed the A2 error. I tried running the MSI Live Update 5 software to update my BIOS but it says I have the "latest" version.
Any thing you guys recommend? The Bluray SATA Drive worked fine on my old motherboard.
    Thanks.

The SSDs and three other drives? So you are trying to populate all ports? If so try removing one of the other drives and retry.
Yes. I got too many drives laying around xD. Edit: 1 x SSD Crucial C300 64 GB for OS. 1 X SSD Kingston 240 GB for games. 2 x WD 1 TB Drives for storage. 1 x WD Raptor Drive for other programs.
About your request, I did this earlier on today when I was trying to find out what was causing the problem. It did not help the issue when I unplugged one of the other SATA Drives. Still would not start while the bluray player was connected.

  • Z77A-G43 B4 Error - Logitech USB Headset

    Hey guys,
I've isolated the B4 error I'm receiving on boot to having my Logitech USB headset plugged in.
Also plugged in via USB are a Logitech G15 Keyboard, a Razer naga mouse, and a WD 2TB USB hard drive, but without the headset, I don't get the error.
Any thoughts on how to correct this?  In the bios it shows up as 2 keyboards, so I'm wondering if the 2 logitech devices are a problem.
    Thanks in advance.

What bios version do you have installed?

  • Z77A-GD65 Gave Error Code CA with ASUS Radeon HD 6450

I have a Z77A-GD65 based system primarily as a file server and for video editing which has been working fine for about a year.  I finally got around to installing two Radeon HD 6450 cards from ASUS and the motherboard gave me a hardware code CA.  The cards went in the 2nd and 3rd x16 slots; the first one has a RAID controller.  I removed the 2nd card and same thing.  I removed the first card as well and it booted normally.  I understood this to be a compatible card.  Suggestions?
    Thank you,
    Don Estes

if you just plug VGA card to 1st and 2nd slot (without your RAID card),  will boot up be ok?
have you tried updating to the latest bios?

I have no idea how you possibly could corrupt bios A if you weren't running Live Update or manually attempted to flash. if bios is really corrupted follow: >>Flashing a Corrupted bios when the alternate bios still works<<

  • P67A-G43 (B3) BIOS+error codes?

I have the P67A-G43 (B3) motherboard and POSTs, but I'm unable to find out what the error codes mean. I am receiving two beeps, and then a shorter, higher-pitched beep. The manual has nothing about what these error codes mean and I am not getting live video from my GPU.

I am not sure what BIOS my mobo has
No need for Windows based utilities to see what BIOS is installed. The 'as shipped' can be read right off the mainboards BIOS chip, but it can be found in BIOS 'Settings', 'System Information'.

Interestingly enough, the same thing happens in Windows on my U46E - the Synaptics driver recognizes the touchpad only as a PS/2 mouse and two-finger scroll won't work.
Edit: The elantech module you posted fixes the problem on the U46E, too. Thanks! Now to fix it for Windows...

  • MSI Z77A-G43 RAM Problems

    Hi everybody,
I have some big problems with my new build:
    Intel Celeron G1610
    MSI Z77A-G43
2x4gb Corsair Vengeance LD low voltage 1600 mhz 1.35 v dual channel kit
    Seasonic 620w PSU
    Saphire 7850 2gb GDDRAM5
My system wont work with both ram sticks in. If I only use one of them (it doesn't matter which one) in whatever slot I want, I don't have any problems. However if I use both of them I get bsods or restarts very soon after windows finishes loading. I must also mention that it's almost impossible to install Windows with both Ram sticks in. I almost always get a bsod when the installer is expanding the windows files.
I must also mention that by default, my motherboard sets my ram to 1333 MHz and 1.5v even if the producer says that the ram should run at 1600 MHz and 1.35 v. If I set them to these values myself in the oc menu, they are reset to the default values again immediately after I get another crash.
I have the latest bios and drivers and I don't know what else to try: ( any ideas?
    Thank you!

Hi flobelix and thank you very much for your response. I tried your solution and on the next powerup, my pc didn't crash at all and I ran a couple of games and memory intensive programs.
However, unfortunatelly, after I closed the PC for a while and restarted it again, the problems came back. The ram timings don't change anymore in BIOS but the system constantly restarts. I ran memtest for 6 hours last night with both sticks of ram in and it did not find any errors so I can't figure out what's wrong.

Since I'm desperate, I'm just gonna go ahead and reinstall windows again. During the last successful pc run (after I took your advice), I ran MSI live update and installed the rest of the utility software. Maybe this did something to my drivers.... I'm really reaching the end of my possibilities :(

  • Z77A-G43 Issue - Bios not working

    Dear Forum,
I have a quite strange issue with my brand new system.
    Specs first:
    MSi Z77A-G43 BIOS 2.2/2.3, i5 3570K, Win7 Professional 64 bit
    G.Skill Value Series 8GB DDR3-1333 Kit
be quiet! Straight Power E9 580 Watt CM
    Gigabyte GeForce GTX560 Ti
    OCZ Vertex 120GB SSD
    Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB
    LG GH24NS70
    Problem description:
All parts are brand new. Machine was assembled (antistatic wristband used), Display connected to PCIE-Nvidia gfx card.
Display showed post codes (99, A2) in low resolution and got stuck with a blinking cursor in the top left corner.
After some cable checking I switched to the built-in gfx (from CPU) and the machine booted into bios (v.2.2) after showing the MSI logo.
Whenever I tried to change or even view the bios settings, the machine froze and had to be hard reset.
I installed Win7 without a flaw and updated the bios to 2.3 using Live Update. No errors.
Now whenever I trie to access the bios (hitting DEL) the bios image (blueish) pops up for a short moment and the machine reboots. Nothing else I can do there. It still booted though into windows.
I did the CMOS-reset which showed the initial "settings have been reset, hit F1 for setup or F2 to continue" message but when hitting F1 it again flashed the bios image for a microsecond and rebooted.
Windows still booted normally, when starting Click Bios II application it showed the loading screen but nothing happened. So I decided to reflash 2.3 Bios.
    --> Nothing changed
I then flashed the Bios down to 2.2 using the MSIHQ-Flash utility (awesome tool) which lead to the same effect as before:
I could access the bios but could not change any settings, the machine froze. The click-Bios application started though.
    Now I have two questions:
    1) What's the matter with the board/bios? I can still return the mainboard to the vendor but would rather like to see this issue fixed
    2) Any ideas with the non-running PCIE-graphics card? Could this be related to the mainboard/bios as well? PSU has 580W and all cables were connected properly.
Thanks for any input that might help..

Wouldn't even bother trying anymore with v2.2 since it needs v2.3 to fully support the CPU you have. Recommend to stay with v2.3 since it updates the Management Engine. Going to v2.2 may be causing a chip corruption of some kind.
Not sure what kind or brand of keyboard is involved here, but try with a generic USB one. I had to enable F-Lock on my keyboard to make it go to the UEFI/BIOS using the Delete key. Test with one RAM stick only in the primary dimm slot. Depending on the manual revision, that is either DIMM1 or DIMM2. Update to v2.3, remove the PSU power cord, remove the battery for awhile, clear CMOS and reset, and test again.
I did use another keyboard, I did a CMOS reset, I  have only one module in DIMM2 as stated in the manual. I guess I went through all usual troubleshouting steps. some things in my system don't like each others.
what I did not do so far is comparing the serial of the old and new mainboard. will do that tonight - I srsly hope they didn't send the faulty one again..

  • Z77a g43 boot issues

    We'll start with specs
    z77a-g43 motherboard
    560 gforce video card
    kingwin mach 1 psu
    wd caviar black 1tb hdd
    kingston 4gb ddr3 ram x2
    razer mouse and keyboard
    and then I don't remember the exact cpu but it's an i7 @ 3.4
I having issues with the system booting. Every so often when it gets turned off it would get hung up on an A2 error during post and a restart or two would fix the issue, but it is no longer doing the trick. Reading around a little bit I tried unplugging just about everything in an attempt to just get it to boot. Having just the cpu, psu, ram, and mobo going I get an A0 error. Plugging the hdd back in I get a B4 error and with the keyboard added in I get the A2 error. After removing and reinserting a stick of ram it actually booted to windows. I cannot recreate this though so I am thinking it was a fluke. I tried plugging the gpu back in to get an A2 error and then the mouse to get a B4 error.
I checked the cpu for signs of damage to see none, and I've flashed the cmos. When it hangs on one of these errors during post I can press tab and it will say that it is entering setup but then never does. I have never updated the bios so it is still sitting at the default.
I've read a few posts talking about various compatibilty issues that can arise with an un-updated bios, but it has been running fine for just around a year. This only happens from a cold start and is the worst case of the issue to date. Any advice would be appreciated.

With  both sticks in I was getting A2 and with each individually plugged in I get the same error.  Intermittently I  will see  the B4. Clearing cmos  let's me into the bios,  but if I haven't just cleared it,  entering the bios  just hangs forever. Bios  is showing all 8 gigs  of memory being read with system temps fine.  Voltages all looked fine too.  Attempting to save changes and reboot will leave me with a black screen. Discarding changes  will get me to Windows.  Also bios  reminded  me that  my cpu  is the i7-2600k if that helps.

  • Z77A-G43, Starcraft 2 stutter lag

    hello!
My name is Payam Toghyan and i am a professional Starcraft 2 player. About 2 months ago i started to experience ingame lag, more specifically a stutter-esque lag. Oddly enough i never had this type of problem before this, and ive had my system for about 7-8 months. The lag starts up right at the start of a game, and this happens even when i dont have any other programs running(streaming etc.). Prior to this i was able to stream at a high resolution without having any trouble. My FPS is stable all throughout the game(150+ at the start of a game), i updated the BIOS using live-installer, i clean installed different GPU drivers, ive reformatted my computer and i also did a stress test on all my hardware, everything checked out. So as you can see im pretty much out of options, i dunno what to do anymore. As i stated before i used to be able to run SC2 while streaming perfectly fine, however now i cant even run SC2 alone without experiencing lag, whenever i try to stream the lag becomes unsupportable.
That being said, i used to have an issue where my computer would reboot automatically after the inital boot up(i had this problem ever since i got my computer), this would only happened after i OC'ed my CPU. After booting up my computer the page would remain black and it would then suddenly shut down and reset itself automatically, it sometimes did this up to 3 times before loading up windows. A week ago, I took my computer to a technician and he fixed the issue, apparently my ram frequency was set to 1333 mhz and he brought it up to 1600, since then i havnt had any issues. I was hoping that this would have fixed my ingame lag but unfortunately it didnt.
    System Specs:
    Corsair 550D
    EVGA GeForce GTX 570 Fermi 732MHZ 1280MB GDDR5 2XDVI Mini-HDMI PCI-E Video Card
**(Prior to this i had a ASUS DirectCu II Radeon HD7850 vid card, however i exchanged it for a gtx 570 because i was having some driver issues with it, this was about 4-5 months ago)
    Intel Core i7 2600k
    MSI Z77A-G43
    Crucial M4 128gb
    Mushkin 2x4GB 1333MHz
    Noctua NH-D14
    Seasonic X560
    Seagate Barracuda 1 terabyte
Internet connection: 25 dl 7 up
P.S: my computer is currently overclocked @ 4.2 ghz, i already tested SC2 while having everything on my BIOS set to the default settings, still didnt help.
Regards and ty for your time
*EDIT: a few error messages i used to get when i still had my OC issue: A9 and B4(before reaching BIOS screen, i dont get these anymore). Currently i sometimes get a A2 error message.

What's the common denominator that the other complete pc shows the same problem then? You mentioned monitor, changed it for another to test with? We are chasing our tail here. What you describe are classic signs of SSD or VGA trouble, inadequate PSU power, and/or corruption in the OS.
internet connection(however i also had the same issue with my old isp, and it was a completely different connection. used to have dsl and now i have cable), i used my own mouse and keyboard on his comp and the power cord is connected to a power bar(i do the same for my comp). the power bar has 1 cable for the psu, 1 for the internet and 1 for my printer connected to it. he brought his own PSU cable.
could also be that theres a powering issue inside my house, anywho a technician from my isp is coming over on tuesday to check things out, well see what happens but im really not optimistic
edit: i doubt its monitor related since my lag increases whenever im streaming

  • Error Code -36 Some data could not be read or written.

When trying to copy some files from external firewire drives I am getting errors that say "The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "LatestCollection.mov" could not be read or written (Error code -36).
I have some Lacie 250G Extreme drives that are not having a problem, but I've now tried THREE different Lacie Pocket Drives and they all come up with this error when I've tried copying files that are of all different kinds, for Quicktime files to Quark files to a disk image.... I've tried hooking up to different firewire ports, I've tried three different firewire cords, same problem. BUT, I am able to copy some files without a problem... Just various random files won't copy because of this error. ALSO, I've used these drives on other computers and been able to copy the exact same files off without any problem.
Not knowing what to do, I repaired the disk permissions on my main drive. That did nothing.
I've combed the support discussions and come up with nothing that sounds exactly like this.
    Anyone have ANY idea??

Well, Apple Care solved my issue. I'm posting for anyone else that may encounter this problem... perhaps this'll help you because I didn't find any answers in the Discussions...
They had me unplug everything from my computer. EVERYTHING, including power cord. They had me wait at least 2 minutes. We then zapped the PRAM by holding down the Opt + Cmd + P + R keys until after the third gong.
Then they told me to plug back in just the keyboard, mouse and monitor and start up. Once up they had me run Disk Utilities and repair the disk permissions for the hard drive.
    All fixed.
I had repaired the disk permissions multiple times, but the key step apparently was the unplugging everything and waiting... apparently that resets some part of the computer when you do that.
    Best of luck,
    Rolyn

  • Iphone 5 got wet, now apple logo keeps blinking and phone is unresponsive. When I try to restore it I get error code 21 then on another computer I get error code 2006.

My iPhone 5 got wet and I dried it out for 3 days. Now when I charge it the apple logo keeps blinking. Phone is unresponsive, so I tried to restore it but got error code 21. Tried on another computer and got error code 2006. Any suggestions, or is it impossible to get it back?

    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, 40
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.
    Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software. If the errors persist on another computer and known-good USB cable, the device may need service.
If neither of those fix it, then it's toast. it will have to be replaced.
