Z77A-G43, LAN Controller in Deep Sleep Mode

Hey guys
I got a Z77A-G43 Motherboard with an Onboard Lan Controller which i cannot wake up.
Im Running Windows 8.1 64 Bit, tried downloading the driver from the motherboard site and install it with no luck. I just get the Deep Sleep mode error.
I cannot see the device in Device Manager either.
It is enabled in the BIOS.
Best Regards
Jesper

try turn it off and disconnect/remove all power cables,
press power button to discharge capacitors
and leave it for 5 minutes
then plug them back and see how its goes
other questions:
 * have you done >>Clear CMOS Guide<< with power cord removed?
 * does it worked fine before?
 * have you tried the board out of PC case placed over non conductive surface?

  • MSI Z87 G45 DEEP SLEEP MODE

Hi i recently finished building my comp and tried to install realtek ethernet driver, at the near end of the installation a message pops up saying
"The RealTek Network Adapter/Controller was not found.  If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled Please Plug the Cable"
I went into device manager and network adapters is missing, I've looked around online for solutions and tried them such as updating bios, taking out power supply plug for 10 mins, taking out ram, taking out motherboard battery and clearing cmos all to which doesnt work. Still cant install ethernet drivers. For 2 days i been looking and attempting to solve this and i now think it may be a hardware problem where the lan port doesnt work and is not detected. I'm quite sad because this is my first build and i have never experienced this problem before. Also i tried installing drivers from the MSI disc using the total installer and i see that lan, storage is greyed out unable to click where chipset and audio and other utilities can be installed. I have to manually open the disc and look for the drivers in the folders.
PLEASE HELP!! What should i do??? Is purchasing a PCI network adapter can connect to internet or it wont detect? i'm not sure. I want to avoid the possibility of RMA as i never done it before and would like to avoid the hassle. THANKS

You have to run the Killer "driver cleaner" available from the Utility downloads section of the Killer website.  Once it cleans up your PC, the new drivers will install.

Power or other problems related to unexpected system sleep, shutdown, lights or fans call for an SMC reset. Read all the steps.
    Before Resetting the SMC
Try each of the following steps in this order before you reset the SMC. Test the issue after completing each troubleshooting step to determine if the issue still occurs.
Press Command + Option + Escape to force quit any application that is not responding.
Put your Mac to sleep by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Sleep. Wake the computer after it has gone to sleep.
Restart your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Restart.
Shut down your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Shut Down.
Resetting the SMC on Mac portables with a battery you can remove
    Shut down the computer.
Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
Remove the battery (to remove the battery - click here: MacBook or MacBook Pro).
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Still having problems? Replace steps 6 and 7 with the following:
Reconnect just the MagSafe power adapter.
Press the power button to turn on the computer,
    Then reconnect the battery.
Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if it's not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time. The power adapter indicator light may cycle off / on once.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.

  • Sleep and very deep sleep mode.

Just got a new 27' iMac and something seems wrong with the sleep mode.
When the iMac is not used for between 10 minutes to 6 hours it goes into a sleep mode where moving the mouse or typing a key brings it to life within a few seconds and the screen looks the way it was when the iMac went to sleep.
HOWEVER if I leave the iMac for longer i.e. overnight then moving the mouse does nothing, I have to type on the keyboard. This starts the iMac waking up but it goes through a full boot-up i.e. grey screen and apple logo etc. The same type of boot up as when you push the power button on.
Is this correct, as my older iMac 24' just goes into the light sleep.
Is this correct for the newer hardware or is something wrong.
    Thanks

    all set to default,
surely hdd sleep will occur fairly soon ie after an hour, this deep sleep only occurs after about 10 hours.
I am the only user so I don't have a log in screen, (I hope i am understanding you correctly)
whatever was open when you finished is lost after the deep sleep, the same as if you have turned it off but the only difference is that the keyboard wakes it up, no need to press the rear mounted power switch.
    Thanks

  • "Deep" sleep mode has been happening lately

My PB has been waking up from sleep in the state that happens when your battery drains completely, however, I have it plugged in to the AC, and when it comes back to life, the battery charge is close to full. What I am calling "deep sleep", is the condition where the display is just barely visible in black and white when you wake the PB up, and there is a dotted progress bar at the bottom, which advances as the PB reloads it's last awake state of operation. I am assuming this is a function of the internal battery that retains vital data when the PB sleeps automatically due to an exhausted battery. But...the battery isn't exhausted, and, the AC is plugged in.
Any ideas on what might be going on?

Well, the "Safe Sleep" mode is if your battery ever runs down to zero, so you'll be safe (no pun intended) as long as you never let your battery run down to that.
Since the safe sleep mode kicks in when the AC is plugged in and/or when your power battery (not PRAM one) is not anywhere near empty, it's not really serving a purpose in that point in time--at least, I don't think it is--since you will always have your settings saved so as long as you shut down the computer while it is plugged in and/or the battery is in.
If you're having trouble with a faulty AC adapter, or your battery (not PRAM) is faulty then you would definitely want the "Safe Sleep" settings set to default and in place. But since that's not the case, you'd be safe turning it off if it was annoying you or a problem.

  • Deep sleep (hibernate mode) instead sleep

    Hello everyone,
I have a little problem with my macbook. When the battery reach 5% left, I get the usual warning. But if I continue to use my macbook, it doesn't go in sleep mode but in deep sleep mode when the battery reach 0%. And I'm pretty sure that's not the good behaviour because in the calibration guide from apple, it says
"At this point, save your work.  Continue to use your computer; when the battery gets very low, the computer will automatically go to sleep."
I've already checked the hibernation mode. The value is 3. Wich is safe sleep.
    Thank you.

Unfortunately, this problem seems to have begun shortly after I installed 10.6.1
but only seems to affect a Canon LiDE 200 scanner (other USB devices are fine).
And as others have reported, it doesn't happen every time - I can scan for 3 or
4 days in a row, and then not be able to scan. For example, I scanned 2
documents today before dinner, put my iMac to sleep for a few hours, and woke it
after dinner - and couldn't scan.
The only reliable solution is a restart, which I really don't want to do, since
I have many other apps running. I tried unplugging the scanner, put the system
to sleep, then wake it, and plugging the scanner back in, but no difference.
I used to have this scanner on a powered USB hub, but recently began to plug it
into a port on the back of the iMac - but again, same results (no scanning).
Any idea if this is the beginning of a failure in the USB part of the system
board? Or a failure of the scanner? Or bad Canon driver software? It's really
    frustrating . . .
Thanks for any suggestions you-all may have . . .

  • Charging Problem after Deep Sleep

    Hey
All works fine but, when i wake up my MacBook from the Deep Sleep Mode, it seems, that my MacBook doesn´t know, if the MacSafe is plugged in or not.
Normally, when you plug in the MacSafe, in the menu bar the batterie status goes to "charging". But after the Deep Sleep Mode, my MacBooks doesn´t know, that i turn off the MacSafe. All the time, it shows the status, "charged" in the menu bar.
So the Problem is, that my MacBook doesn´t show the right charging status in the menu bar. So i
don´t know, how the batterie status is.
    That´s very strange.
    Somebody who can help me?
    MacBook 2,1
    3Gb Ram
    950 gma

if you haven't already try listing your problem in the Powerbook forum. Sounds like its most likely an issue with the PB.
    Also, have you tried putting the ipod in different settings? As in;
    Enable Disk Mode
    ->itunes open
    ->itunes closed
Open itunes when this ipod is connected
    ->itunes open
    ->itunes closed
    and then combining the two...

  • Help: Macbook goes into deep sleep instead of sleeping

Any time my Mac is supposed to go into sleep, like when I leave it alone for 15 mins or close the lid, it goes into deep sleep (hibernates). How do I fix this?
Also, it started happening after I changed the starup disk from Windows to OS X through the boot camp control panel in Windows.

Just reset the SMB following these instructions: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964 and still having the same problem. However I realized two key things:
The computer goes into Deep Sleep mode whenever I tell it to Sleep (Even if I use the Sleep button in the Apple menu)
The above only happens when the power adaptor is plugged in. When running on batteries Sleep seems to work properly
While typing this up I just realized that a widget I have called Deep Sleep for dashboard might be causing my problems, and sure enough... it is. Apparently there is a setting on there that lets you make your Mac's "regular" sleep mode Deep Sleep and I probably turned this on without realizing it. For anyone who's reading this I'll try to keep you posted on if this fixed the problem or not... if I don't post anything else on here you can assume it's fixed. Watch out if you use the Deep Sleep widget

  • IPod switches off completely instead of sleep or deep-sleep

    Hello,
I searched in this group and other sources but found no help.
My iPod (4th generation with click-wheel) works well when i hear music. But when I pause it switches off completely after 1 minute. it can only be awaked with a reset (buttons menu & enter). But then he forgot the position of last song or audiobook. It seems not possible to put him into normal sleep or deep-sleep mode. Even if I switch it off by hand, it can only be brought back through a reset.
I use the current software and did a recover, this didn't solve the problem.
    Does anyone know this behaviour?
    Thanks a lot,
    Michael
Toshiba Satellite M30 & iPod 4th. generation   Windows XP Pro   and a lot of Solaris systems....

    Hi,
yes, I found a solution in the meantime!
After I had the effect the first time I backed all the music & calendar files from the ipods directories to my local harddisk. After installing the ipod firmware I played back the files - and had the same errors.
My last solution was to format the ipod harddrive and after installing the firmware again I did not recover the backed up files - and since this time it works well again.
I had to freshly import all my mp3's with the itunes software but that was woth it.
    HTH,

  • MacBook won't hibernate (deep sleep)

I've noticed that recently when my MacBook completely runs out of battery, it just shuts off. I also tried to go into deep sleep by running the dashboard widget DeepSleep, but that doesn't work correctly; it just turns off the screen but keeps running. It used to go into the deep sleep mode just fine both by running out of battery and by the dashboard widget. What can I do?

I'd like to second this issue. This is with the latest model MacBook (7,1) 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo.
On all of our older MacBooks, when you get to a low battery, it will give you a warning. If you run the battery completely down, you can still plug it in and it will awaken as normal. If you STILL don't plug it in, it will awake from "hibernate" mode - a gray screen with a progress bar on the bottom. I've had a MacBook awake like this after being drained for months. This is due to the computer saving the current state onto the hard drive.
Unfortunately, our new MacBook does none of this. This is very disheartening as it's clearly not the correct behavior.
Running pmset -g yields the following:
    Active Profiles:
    Battery Power -1*
    AC Power -1
    Currently in use:
    hibernatemode 3
    halfdim 1
    acwake 0
    lidwake 1
    sleep 10
    disksleep 10
    sms 1
    hibernatefile /var/vm/sleepimage
    ttyskeepawake 1
    displaysleep 5
Has anybody found a fix to this issue, or do I have a bad laptop?

  • Deep Sleep OSX then Boot Windows

I've recently installed Windows 7 using Boot Camp - like a lot of people, I just use it for gaming. It works well, but it'd be a thousand times more pleasant to switch between the two if I could have OSX boot back into the same state that I left it in; I know that deep sleep writes the state to the hard drive, so it should be possible to boot into Windows and then resume OSX from deep sleep later, but I can't seem to access the boot options after deep sleep - it automatically resumes the OSX session when I hit the power button.
I know it should be possible, perhaps using a little EFI trickery, but I'm at a loss for where to begin. Any ideas, anyone?

Just sharing. I had tried the following that does not work:
    - While in OS X, start Terminal and run /efi/refit/enable.sh. Then put the Mac to deep sleep.
    - When I power up the Mac, the efi menu will appear and I am able to select to boot OS X or Bootcamp.
    - When I select OS X, the Mac will try to recover from the deep sleep mode, but it is never able to complete booting up successfully. The progress bar will get stuck just after the second indicator.
    - I then have to hard shutdown the Mac.
    - The next time when I power it up, it will boot normally into OS X as if the sleep image does not exist.

  • Turn off deep sleep / hibernation

    Hi all,
I do not want to let my MBP go to deep sleep mode every time I close its lid or send it to sleep by one of the other ways. Before the MBP I had a PowerBook G4 which went to "normal" sleep mode in 2-3 seconds. The MBP takes 20-30(!) seconds and I really don't need deep sleep.
Is there any way to turn this feature off in order to get a faster sleep mode like my PBG4 had?
    Thanks everyone
    Björn

Your MBP is not going into deep sleep. Normal sleep operation on the Intel laptops when you close the lid is:
    1. Write current state to the hibernation disk file.
    2. Enter "normal" sleep. Computer is not shut off and memory state is maintained (this is Safe Sleep.) Wake-up will be very quick.
In Deep Sleep the following occurs:
    1. Current state is written to the hibernation disk file.
    2. Computer shuts off. Memory state is not preserved. Upon wake-up there will be a delay during which the operating system loads the saved state from the hibernation disk file. Usually a progress bar appears on the screen as the saved state is loaded into RAM.
From what you describe your computer is set for normal sleep, not Deep sleep.
