Z77A-G43 PCIe 3.0 problem with GTX 660
Hello,
I have built a new computer with the components described above.
There is no video signal output from my GTX 660 when it's connected to the PCIe 3.0.
It's OK when the GTX 660 is connected to the PCIe 2.0.
When GTX 660is connected to PCIe 3.0 there is no signal output even from the onboard video card.
That's mean I don't see bios display or Windows, it's not a windows 7 problem.
Sometimes after connected GTX 660 to the PCIe 3.0, the bios stop and start few times the computer, always without video signal anywhere.
Then It's seems that Windows 7 boot (without display), but there is no sound when Windows 7 is loaded or when I quit Windows 7 (I enter blindly my password, then do Alt-F4 and enter , and Computer stop).
I try to reset CMOS, setting in the bios PEG or IGD but nothing good.
The bios version was 2.8, I flash it to E7758IMS.293 but same problem.
This GTX 660 is a PCIe 3.0 compliant !
Any idea ?
Thx for your help

i use i7 2600
http://ark.intel.com/products/52213/Intel-Core-i7-2600-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-3_80-GHz
PCI Express Revision : 2.0
p.s.
You don't need PCI-E 3.0 for GTX 660.
The PCI-E 2.0 bandwidth is more than enough for your GPU.

MSI Z77A-G43 - extreme memory profile problem
Hello everyone,
I’d really appreciate a piece of help here. I’ve bought the MSI motherboard MSI Z77A-G43 and currently I’m having problems with my memory (slots 1 and 3). My PC has following specs:
- MSI Z77A-G43
- Intel Core i5 2500K (not overclocked)
- RAM Patriot 2x4GB DDR3 1600MHz CL9 (PGD38G1600ELK) G2 Series
Everything is set to default values and works fine. But when I enter the BIOS, I see that the memory is automatically set to 1333 MHz. The memory has the XPM. But when I set the XPM (agressive timing, 1600 MHz) support (no other changes) and reboot the PC, it doesn’t work (endless reboot looping). Is there any way how I can make the XPM modus work? The memory is OK (tried on other MBs, XPM without problems), the CPU too. I tried overclocking, with slightly increased voltage I can easily reach 4,8 GHz on CPU, basically everything else is fine. The PSU is also sufficient (700W, OCZ). I can too set the memory on 1600 MHz manually, but the timing isn’t that good.
It’s actually a failure I can live with, but since it’s a brand new PC, I’d like to get the best out of it.
Many thanks
V.K.Sometimes manually setting them works when XMP refuses to.
I don't know what the XMP SPD profile for that memory is, and a screenshot of your SPD and memory tabs would help.
However try the following.
Disable XMP and reboot so they are back at 1333.
Manually set it to 1600 and ensure manual setting of the timings to 9.9.9.24 see if that works.
If not set your DRAM voltage to 1,575V and see if that works.
It may be that your memory requires 1,65V, in which case, that is what you have to set. You should be able to see that in CPU-Z SPD tab under the XMP profile column. -

can someone help me please, i need to increase it to 4K+MB

Nvidia panel displays complete rubbish.
They also count some system memory with the amount of vga memory, which, with dedicated videocards these days, is to no point, since the card will never be able to use it.
Your card has, like Svet already said, 3072MB dedicated videomemory and thats all its gonna utilize, since thats the amount of VRAM on the pcb.
So your buddies with 4+GB VRAM are just showing off stuff they cant use and Nvidia controlpanel shows numbers and amounts of VRAM, you'll never have available, just like that stupid Windows Performance Index shows some numbers about your system that in reallife mean diddlysquad.
Besides, there arent any 580GTX's outthere with more then 3GB VRAM aboard.
Long story short, dont get all hyped up by numbers, you got what you paid for and there's nothing wrong with your amount of memory on that card.
Edit:
With my system Nvidia says I got 3071MB of video-memory available, but 1280MB is dedicated, dedicated being the true amount the card wil ever use, since my card has only 1280MB and not 3071MB.
Like I said they count some system-memory with it, although the card will never ever be able to use it, its just to screw people over. -
Z77A-G43 2.13 bios problem
Hello.
Latest BIOS v2.13 has a strange problem with UEFI boot. It's create own entires at every boot, activate it and deactivate my own boot entire(0 - Kernel). And now I can't select boot entire from BIOS GUI. I can only boot via EFI Shell and manualy load kernel. ?!!!
Quote
BootCurrent: 0004
Timeout: 1 seconds
BootOrder: 0004,0000,0005,0006,0001,0002,0003

Boot0001* UEFI:CD/DVD Drive
Boot0002* UEFI:Removable Device
Boot0003* UEFI:Network Device
Boot0004* UEFI: Built-in EFI Shell
Boot0005 Hard Drive
Boot0006 CD/DVD DriveI don't use Windows. I boot custom kernel from GPT partition like EFI-Stub Linux. In older version of bios(2.08 or 2.10, I forgot number) all worked fine.
Today I'm partially solve problem, If I choose manually from BIOS Boot menu "Uefi disk boot order BBS - Kernel", then choose first boot device is UEFI Hard Drive:Kernel, and then manually select to boot in horizontal boot order string(Seagate XXXXX: Kernel) it's boot and saved as Active(0000-Kernel). Huh, now it's worked every boot. But it is HACK. Bug in BIOS Firmware. Now if I remove Boot0001...Boot0003, BIOS every reboot add his UEFI boot records (Boot0001...Boot0003) again, it is strange and not secure for me. I will wait for next version of BIOS. You can test this problem with efibootmgr and linux kernel in efi stub boot mode. -
Problem with GTX 560Ti Twin Frozr II OC SLI
Hi. I just bought another GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr for SLI and when I ran BF 3, the images are shaky. Here's my specs:
i7 920 2.66GHz
Asus P6T
6 x 2GB Corsair 1600 DDR3
2 x GTX 560Ti Twin Frozr II
1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200
Windows 7 Pro 64bit
Cooler Master Silent ProM 850W
I'm using the 290.36 beta driver (the others failed as well).
My motherboard BIOS is the latest version (1408). My GPUs have different BIOS (I bought the first in Feb and the new one today), is that the issue? The problem isn't just in BF 3, I also have it in Skyrim.
Thanks!Quote from: Keno117 on 12-December-11, 03:15:23
hi svet. yeah, the problem doesn't appear with fraps screen shots.
this mean that issue is caused by your monitor. [or sli brigde issue]
have you tested each vga alone? -
P67A-GD55 problems with GTX 780
I have the same problem as the guy in this thread:
https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=169438.0
I can´t access the BIOS with the GTX 780. I just get a black screen with B2 code for 2-3 minutes and then
it boot up windows.
I have used Live Update 5 to upgrade to the latest bios (Live Update says the new 1.J0 version is the latest)
but the problem is still there.
If i want to access the BIOS i have to switch the cards :(
My system:
I7 2600k
P67A-GD55
2 x 4 Corsair DDR3
GTX 780 (previous card was a GTX 580)
Win 7 64-bit
Help would be much appreciatedQuote from: Ywap on 04-June-13, 02:41:05

New graphic cards need 4.XX bios.
The last is 4.30 bios.
You have to download the archive here : https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=164135.0
An use this archive with MSIQ USB Bootable tool downloadable here : https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=116721.0
Use Method 1: Processing a BIOS Archive Directly (ZIP/RAR).
Then clear CMOS.
Then Reboot and SUPPR button to enter the bios
Dont upgrade Intel Management Engine drivers to v8, because you have i7 2600K sandy bridge processor. Stay with IME v7 drivers

Driver update problems with GTX 760
Hi all,
I have PC with Intel DH87MC MB, i7-4770 CPU and MSI N760 TF 2GD5/OC video card installed. Samsung P2350 monitor is connected via DVI.
When I first installed it, I got newest drivers for video card (320.49) at this time and everything was working ok. Later I got notifications about new drivers and there my troubles started. Every time I try update driver to newer one (334.89 for example), my display goes off during installation process and never comes back on. I have to turn off my PC, start it in safe mode, uninstall driver, boot to windows and install that 320.49 driver again. I've updated MB BIOS and drivers, but situation is same every time.
What to try next?
Thanks,
ZebediejusHi, sorry for late answer. This doesn't work too. I tried uninstall from safe mode, even deleted folders from program files. After installing new drivers (335.23) and reboot, got same problem - monitor goes off while windows are booting.
After this tried other way - again uninstalled everything from safe mode, booted in normal mode, installed old drivers (320.49) from DVD, rebooted - everything is working fine. Then I tried to "update" existing drivers with downloaded ones. Immediately after "Installing graphics driver..." message is shown, screen goes off, but installation continues (I see it by blinking HDD activity led). After reboot monitor is staying off until I remove drivers from safe mode. So, now I am back on 320.49 from my DVD. Any other suggestions where problem can be?
Thanks,

AGP Graphics card covers pci slot 2 & Problems with sound card
I have already posted this on another part of the forum.
Hi i have an M Audio Delta192 Audiophile soundcard which is not working fully
i have been on the phone to the M Audio technical support about this
my problem is apparently i need to put the pci Soundcard card into the first slot after my graphics card which would be slot no 2
my graphics card has a fan on top which covers pci slot no 2 so the next available slot is slot 3 which is where i have my soundcard now
a lot of the functions available are greyed out in the M Audio Delta control panel this is the software used to control the parameters of the soundcard
is this right do i have to install my Soundcard in slot no 2 for it to work correctly
if so is there any way around this
my graphics card is a ATI Radeon 9800 XT
if there is no way around this are there any agp cards that i can get that dont have a great big fan on top that covers pci slot 2 that are good quality & can run 2 monitors
i cant seem to find anyHi J D Knight
I'm Pretty sure it is this is what it has under my system profiler
ATI Radeon 9800 XT:
Chipset Model: ATY,R360
Type: Display
Bus: AGP
Slot: SLOT-1
VRAM (Total): 256 MB
Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
Device ID: 0x4e48
Revision ID: 0x0000
ROM Revision: 113-A14404-123
this was the graphics card installed when i bought the powermac
i understand the reasons for the fan as i am led to believe it is a powerfull card
but my main use is for audio is it true about the pci slots do i need to have my soundcard in slot 2 as M-Audio have told me if so then i do need to change my graphics card so i can get my soundcard working as it should
the only thing i need is my dual screens -
P67A-G43 select boot device issue with GTX 970
I recently tried to install a new GTX 970 and ran into an issue where I am asked to select the boot device every time I boot the pc. I uninstalled the driver for my video card before installing it. The system appears to be stable once it boots into Windows. However, when I swap back to the GTX 760, that was in the system previously, it boots straight into Windows without having to select the boot device? I have seen lots of issues on the forum about the 970 and older boards but nothing specific to mine. I am currently have BIOS version 1.A0 installed. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Yes, you need to update. Following the below updates to latest official bios (5.4 aka E7673IMS.540)
>>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
A.) Download >>this archive<< and place it on your desktop. Do not decompress.
B.) Download and install the Forum flash tool.
C.) Insert your FAT32 formatted usb stick.
D.) Make sure that all win 8 options are disabled. (Fast Boot etc) Also make sure the legacy USB is enabled.
E.) Start the forum flash tool and select option 1. Then point the tool at the compressed archive we downloaded earlier. Then to your USB Flash Drive.
F.) Boot to the USB
G.) Now follow the directions and let the tool flash
H.) After flashing reinstall ME drivers in Windows: http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/intel_amt81_win78_xp.zip -
Z77A-G43 - PCIe Bandwith limitation
Ive just purchased a Asus Xonar Phoebus PCIe(x1) sound card and want to know if i slot it in the 2nd PCI2(x16) slot will it effect my Graphic card performance, and if so yes, is it something i should be concerned about.
The reason for my question is that i have a Gigabyte 7870 OC graphics card installed and its quite big that it covers the 2nd PCIe(x1) slot and barely leaves me enough space to use the 1st PCIe(x1) slot because of my CPU cooler, which is a Coolermaster V6.
According to my mainboard's manual the 1st PCIe(x16) slot is ver3 and supports x16 speed, but the 2nd PCIe(x16) slot is ver2 and only supports x4 speed.
Any help would be appreciated thank you.
spiZThank you, the answer i was hoping for
From what i read on many forums i thought i would be limited. Thx again! -
MOVED: Problems with GTX 675M
This topic has been moved to MSI Notebooks & Netbooks.
https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=173064.0I honestly think it comes down to a process problem via NVidia. Similar to the older 9XXX mobile series chips that had issues from manufacturing as well. That was a huge debacle that NVidia had to pay their way out of back in the day. I think the 67XM series is similar to that, but I doubt it will ever be proven, as it doesn't seem as widespread.

Problem with GTX 680M. (MSI GT70)
On the third day after the purchase, the video card has stopped working. The power button always glows white. When launching any 3D application the laptop instantly freezes. I can install a new driver, but only after turning off the video card in Device Manager.
The laptop does not overheat. Card temperature 42-90 degrees Celsius. Windows 8.
What do you think?Quote from: Buluunee on 10-March-13, 05:25:27
its very obvious! the card itself is already dead. brand new laptop gpu 42-90C cmon that just factory defect or burned gpu device you got there. brand new gt 70 gpu shud idle around 30C or lower. mine idles at 25C thou its 4 months old. So my advice for you its just RMA it.
Granted you don't have a 680M, but yeah, he's mostly correct. The 680's tend to idle a bit higher. Mine usually sits around 42C, but my house is usually around 25C, so that's not too surprising. If the ambient temperature is much higher than 25C, it will idle at an even higher temperature.
As Buluunee said, your video card is most likely dead. I'd contact MSI for an RMA. Also, I really hope you sent in the warranty information.......I agree it's a really stupid policy to have to send in all that crap, but better than not sending it I suppose. Either way, they should honor the 1 year warranty, they might just ask for proof of when you bought it. -

Did you ever get this to work? I have been using, with a qualified degree of success, taking the HDMI output from a Canon Vixia HV30, to an AverMedia Game Boradcaster C127 to FMLE.
The qualification is: When the card is installed on an ITX board (GigaByte Z-77), in the single PCI-e slot, yes. In fact, I'm using it weekly now on my show.
Now, if I put the same card on an Asus Z77 Maxiumus Gene board, with or without an installed video card (GTX 660), and regardless of the positioning of the C127 in the first long PCI-e slot and the GTX 660 in the next one over, or pin the PCI-4 slot, I get "No Signal AverMedia" on the screen. Then I put it back on the ITX board (I5-2300 on there and 8GB RAM, using HDMI or DVI vidoe for the local monitor), the card then works properly.
I made sure I had the DirectShow codecs installed...and it didn't work on the larger board (plan was to be able to handle two capture cards like this in one "box" and still have a GPU in the main slot to help processing.
Any feedback appreciated. -
I am hoping this is an easy one for all of you....I just built another Msi Board...Board in the title....
I enabled Pci-e 3 in Bios-before I even installed the operating system.....so after all the updates...all the drivers....100% ready for retail..
I downloaded Gpu-Z,,,,,,showing up as Pci-e 2.0.....so i did the render test and it stayed at 2.0...did not climb to 3.0....
This is my first combo---Pci-e 3.0 board and Processor.....am I missing a setting?
speccs....
I7 3770k----Z77a-G43.......GTX 660 Ti DC2......Windows 7 Ultimate....
and yes at first i thought it was speed stepping it down....But when I ran the render test that Gpu-z has....it maxed everything and never showed at 3.0....
Thanks
Hey Mods.....I messed up and put this post with the amds......SorryI hate replying to my own Post..But i figured just encase, somebody else has the issue....They will know ,it is not just you..It is on most boards, with the older bios....If I would have posted in the right forum..Intel..LOL!!!!I would have found the answer right off the back...
This board need the beta Bios...Not a big deal, But as for right now..It is running great. No need for a bios update. Because there would be no performance gains at all...maybe 2 or 3 fps...Not even enough to make it worth it. My board is running great and I will leave Great alone.
Most Vid Card can not take advantage of the Pci-e 3.0 slots...and from what i read it will be about 3-5 years before we can get cards to take advantage...That kind of bite, But what can you do.........Thanks for reading if I have wasted your time...
These are not Facts--This is Just stuff I read on other post and forums...I could be 100% wrong......
