i tried all 3 usb plugs onto the mobo ,
JUSB1-2-3

JUSB1 has power at all times whether PC is on or off. 0.5A without Super Charger, 1.5A with Super Charger. Are you sure the cable you are using is good? Front panel USB plugged into JUSB1 header?
I just finished checking things out on mine and apparently the icon is hidden. Click on the "Show hidden icons" button.
Right click on the S C icon, left click on "Main Window" in the menu that pops up, then left click on the "On" button to "Enable fast-charging immediately" and see how it goes.

None the less that Corsair kit should work although a 4x4GB kit is not optimal for a dual channel system (as 2x4 or 2x8GB would be ideal). That matched 1.5V kit should none the less work.

  • Z77a-g45 gaming mobo wouldn't boot

Hello, I got my processor today and tried to test my mobo which is a z77a-g45 gaming one. I put my cpu in right, attached the cpu fan, plugged it in, had 1 G.skill 8g stick of ram in, had my gtx460 fermi hawk in with ample connectors and connected it to my monitor, yet the mobo didnt boot or beep, in fact the PSU, CPU or GPU fans didn't even spin. Is there a power switch on the mobo itself I have to hit to boot or generate power because I didn't see any? The psu I am using has 2 4 pin connectors on the same wire and they have a piece of plastic that connects them together, so I am assuming this is a modular 4 or 8pin connector.
I put my gpu and psu back in my old pc and they work fine. If there is a power button on the mobo can you illustrate where it is exactly? Thanks.
I am thinking thats what I didn't do was take a metal object and touch each pin to jump the mobo. Too arsed to take out my gpu and psu from the pc I am using now to try it out again.

Just short the front panel JFP1 start button pins. Should be covered which pins they are in the product manual.

  • Fan control problem on Z77A-G45 Gaming

    Hi,
I've got this problem: I have Z77A-G45 gaming mobo and thermaltake water cooler (water 2.0 performer) on cpu and, by default this motherboard makes this cooler work with full 2000 rpm, but if I open the msi utility program "Control center" and go in "Green power" tab and use "CPU fan control" it makes cooler to run normally with 850 rpm. But problem is, when I turn off or restart PC, it starts again with 2000rpm and I need to open that "Control center" again and click check "Cpu fan control" to make cooler work normally. So what is solution to this problem? How to make it remember "cpu fan control" option marked? I don't want to start this application manually everytime I boot my computer.

Try entering bios and enable cpu smartfan and save on exit.

  • MSI z77a-G45 Gaming 3770k overclocking?

I just recently purchased the z77a-G45 Gaming mobo and a i7 3770k, most of my googling would leave me to believe that the 3770k can easily obtain 4.6Ghz with fairly low voltages like 1.16-1.20 vcore; here comes the question...in order for me to obtain some level of stability @ 4.6Ghz I must crank my vcore to 1.4150 with 100% cpu offset resulting in a 1.39 vcore in windows with a 1.38 vcore under load.  I have all power saving technologies disabled, pll overvoltage enabled, cpu vdroop offset set to 100%; my question is am I missing something with MSI boards as this is the first one I've ever owned or did I just get a very power hungry 3770k?
    General system specs
    MSI z77a-G45 Gaming MOBO
    i7 3770k CPU
    16Gb of Gskill Trident X 2400mhz memory
    Corsair HX850 Gold PSU
    MSI GTX 670 PE OC
    Cooled by custom water loop

Alrighty, appreciate the info; gonna back down to 4.4Ghz as I can maintain stability with 1.275 vcore in bios = 1.26 in windows = 1.24 under load resulting in hottest core never exceeding 70...was really hoping for 4.7-5.0Ghz overclock when most everyone who reviewed this chip in the early days was claiming such great overclocks with such low voltage.  But I'll chalk that up to either misinformation or non stability checked overclocks, I guess I'm old school; cause if it can't hold up to a minimum 24hr pass of Prime 95 small fft's it isn't stable in my book.  Might consider delidding it in a year or so once the new wears off, I had my i7 920 for about that long before I lapped it into a mirror shine lol.  So based on my new information 3770k's on average overclock between 4.4-4.6Ghz and can require up to 1.4 vcore and higher past 4.6Ghz which is where you start to really become thermally limited on liquid as the Ivy Bridge's 22nm technology puts the cores to closely together in combination with intel's cheap ass thermal compound solution. Maximum recommended voltage for 24/7 shouldn't exceed 1.4 vcore without some kick ass cooling or a combination of delidded processor and kick ass cooling cause ideally you want your cores mid 70's and below...that about sum it all up?

Hi there its been awhile since ive done OC since my old intel e8400 and everything looks different now..i just recently bought a  brand new Msi Z77a-G45 gaming MB and i7 2600k for good deal and would like to push my limits on this setup
    Currently setup:
    intel i7-2600k
    8gb ddr3-1600 gskill ripjaw X Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL
    MSI Z77a-G45 gaming motherboard

my old rig Corsair H50 for now waiting on my custom built water cooling
i know i tried using the OC genie to test out their OC setting which gave me 4.2ghz with 1.336vcore and friend told me thats kind of high for a 4.2ghz?
any help will be good step by step. my goal for now is to reach like 4.4-4.5ghz until i get a better cooling system

  • My new MSI Z77A-G45 Gaming question

    Hello MSI forums ,
I'm building a gaming system for my son. The MB i picked was the MSI Z77A-G45 Gaming and it just arrived from newegg. Just a quick question.
The MB arrived w/ out shrink wrap and the MB itself seems to be slightly warped or curved. Is this normal? I purchased a MSI Z77A-GD65 a few months ago for myself and I can't remember if it had shrink-wrap on it or not but I'm sure I didn't see any warping on the GD65.
Anyway, over the last two months I've build two complete systems all from newegg and i haven't had one issue, so good luck for me so far.
    thanks!

Not even a security flap or tab seal on any of mine, so no shrink wrap I can recall. Slight curve should pose no problem once it is tightened down in the case.

  • How to get Super-Charger to work on Z87 G45 Gaming MB.

Hi, how can I get the MSI Super-Charger app to work on the MSI Z87-G45 Gaming MB?
There is no Super-Charger item in the Windows Taskbar like it does with the MSI P67A-G65.  I have "Show all icons" set for the Taskbar and the latest Super-Charger software update is installed.   When I click on it, it just tells me that the Super-Charger is already running.  However, I can't see the icon to open it up to change any settings like I can on the P67A-G65 Motherboard.

Quote from: hpipiw on 25-November-14, 09:47:03
Z87-G45 Gaming doesn't have red USB charging port.
So it wouldn't show the icon, but when you plug in a device for charging, it seems will show a remind message to tell you it's charging.
Without this you can't use Super Charger. I know it's on the disk that came with motherboard (same happened to me) but without this red USB header you just can't use it. If you would have this usb header, then your device (whatever would it be) would charge even if the PC would be off.

    Hi,
    Specification say:

    Super Charger
Mobile consumer appliances are getting more and more attention in current day fast moving life style, with smart phones and tablets almost becoming a fashion accessory. However, many ordinary personal computers cannot charge some of these devices, making it difficult to stay connected. The MSI Super Charger is a Windows resident program capable of revising the power supply mode of your USB port to become more powerful. Once your phone or tablet is connected to your USB port, the Super Charger sends a signal to initiate its charging circuit, making it a really smart and convenient charging solution for mobile computing needs.
Note: Only front red USB ports support charger function after system off

I might be blind, but I don't see any red USB header on the motherboard  I suggest you ask MSI, as for me it sounds as a mistake on the specification on the website.
Can you check your motherboard box if it says anything about it?
Apparently you should use red USB header, however: plug your case USB 2.0 header to motherboard's header and turn your PC off (just through Windows without switching power supply off) and plug your phone (USB) to case's USB that is connected to motherboard header. If it doesn't work, try the second USB 2.0 header on motherboard. Also make sure you have Utility "Super Charger" installed, available here: http://download.msi.com/uti_exe/SuperCharger_mb.zip

  • MSI Z77A-G45 GAMING SERIES ---RAM---

I am looking at buying and building a new computer, and when I looked on the MSI test results for RAM, I did not find the RAM I was after, so I am wondering if the RAM CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9R (manufacturer's code) would work... i am also wondering if MSI themselves MAY be able to test this RAM as there does not seem to be much suggesting that it would not work.

  • Z77A-G45 Gaming won't OC

Before yesterday everything was working fine and my CPU was stable at 4.5 GHz. When I ran Intel Burn Test my CPU would downclock and I didn't understand why it would do this with temps below 64C. I searched for the reasons and followed the advice I found in these forums. Now, no matter what I do I can't get my clocks to stay locked. I even flashed the BIOS thinking it might have become corrupted but that did no good. I disabled every conceivable power-saving function and C-State and I can't get anywhere. Any advice? Before today I was quite happy with this motherboard. Having upgraded from a Z77 Extreme4 I had the same OC with lower voltage and lower temps. Today I'm not so happy. Should I request an RMA?

Just a little follow up Qs: Prior to having the down clocking issue, did you change the BIOS setting that caused the down clocking? If not, have you found out why the issue hit you at that specific time and not earlier?
I didn't notice it until I ran IBT. All of my other benchmarks ran fine but they are mostly for graphics and PhysX. I had bigger problems with CPU locked at 3.4 after disabling OSP. All seems back to par so I'm not worried about it and not changing anything in the near future. All games are running smoothly at 4.5 GHz at lower temps and lower Vcore than with my Gigabyte P67 or ASRock Extreme4. There doesn't seem to be any downclocking when gaming but I don't monitor it either because games won't load the CPU as much as IBT. Thanks for asking.

  • Internal and external super drives dont work

DVD is ejected after about 30 seconds on the internal.  External spins but does nothing and doesn't display in Finder.
Both drives are found and seem OK in system information.
Have tried cleaning, clearing the SMC, starting is safe mode and pretty much all of the other suggestions on the web.  It looks like there are many people with the issue.
My 6 year old iMac with Mountain Lion works fine with both its internal and the external drive.  Looks like a Mavericks issue from my experience and that of many users online.

  • Z77A-GD65 Gaming USB header not working.

I've had this board for about 8 months, up until now everything has been working fine. But the JUSB1 header just stopped working. It delivers power but won't recognize any device plugged in to it, and I tried several different drives, mice, etc. The other USB headers appear to be working fine. There are no problems indicated in Device Manager. I tried uninstalling the USB Root Hub driver and also reinstalling the Intel chipset driver, no luck. Is there any other option than RMA'ing the board ? I recently installed and uninstalled the Supercharger app, doesn't work with my Android, but I'm wondering if that might be the source of the problem ?

Quote from: Bernhard on 03-May-12, 14:37:59
Check the mainboard settings in the BIOS.
    Go to Advanced settings.
    Enter the Integrated Graphics Configuration.
Disable Virtu technology and select your discrete card as the initial GPU under Initate Graphic Aadapter.
Check that IGD multi monitor is disabled.
This is taken from my Z68, but I imagine your BIOS being pretty similar.
Give that a try and see if it helps.
I do have that all disabled with no go... I don't think I ever enabled it.
    Quote
The problem may be with the enabling of PCI-E 3.0. The VGA's you have are 2.0.
I enabled PCI-E 3.0 as a last resort because when the GEN3 option was off, it wasn't working, so I turned it on to see if that would fix it, but that was a no go too...

    First update!
I took everything out but one graphics card, played around with some memory configurations. Interesting results.
The manual lists the slots like this.
    1234
    Channel 1 is 34 and Channel 2 is 12.
Slots 3 and 4 work fine now! Even with two Sticks in!
If I put anything into 1 or 2 (alone or in any other combination) then I get boot looping.
I left the RAM in slots 3 and 4 and  then plugged everything back in. I am now fully up and running (although I suppose I still need to run memtest).
I'll see if I can get another power supply, just in case, although it seems that something's wrong with my motherboard's second RAM channel, or how the CPU's reading from it.

  • Z77A-G45 Gaming ethernet adapter went out?

My brother has this board and one day when he went to turn his pc on it booted to windows and he had no internet. We've tried everything from a full reformat to buying a network adapter but nothing works.
We tried installing a TP-Link model TG-3468 network adapter but the pc wont even recognize it. When we pull up device manager there isn't even a network adapter section. Should I ask for a replacement?

Take the bopard out of case and try it with basic components on a non-conductive surface.
