Z77A-G45 has been rock solid over two years, until today
when I powered up today, everything appears to be normal. all the internal fans, drives, etc power up. all of the external equipment powered by usb powers up. Everything sounds normal. But the BIOS Splash screen never appears. I have made no changes in configuration (hardware or software) recently. This happened once about a week ago, and I did a hard reset and cold boot and everything worked fine again for a week. But today, nothing I try seems to bring me back to life.
The manual doesn't have any information about error codes, and I'm not hearing any beeps anyway (Don't think I would because there is no onboard speaker). I'm totally stumped as to how determine whatthe problem is.
okay, i guess i was in a hurry and did not provide a lot of info. to be honest, it did not seem important because as i said it has been working in exactly this configuration for a good long time, so knowing that and knowing that I can't even get the BIOS splash screen to come up should narrow down the possibilities quite a bit.

It seems that year long delay from having your lock button repaired has finally caught up to you. Sounds like you have some damage to your phone that requires repair/replacement. Take it to a Apple store or contact Apple Tech Support.

10.3.9 has been rock solid so why update to 10.4.6
Recently have been trouble shoting a relatives mac mini with 10.4.6 and have not been very impressed with Tiger.(mini seemed to struggle with 10.4.6 on board) Wigets were fun to play around with but did not seem that essential. The improved spot light seemed to be one of the best upgrades. What features for you have made the installation of Tiger worth the effort.
ronHi, I had the same opinion after I bought this IMac. I had an Emac 1.25 with 10.3.9 and I agree the best OS X, the MOST rock solid one.
I never had troubble with it, since 10.4..... always something.I'm really sad to say this because I know tons of engineers was working on it hard.
So ..."IF Tiger then 10.4.0."... was running the best of all tigers,( lately I was installed 10.4.6 update because I was kind of like front row style unfor- tunately) and with a few things I had already troubble after, I have got no patience to surfing through the discussion forums to find out why my airport screwed up suddenly , why my ISight mixes up with my eye tv 200 etc.., so my men stay with 10.3.9. trust me the speed is almost the same.( 2.0Ghz/2Gb Vram on IMac) Some of these days I'm going back to 10.4.0.
I think your life should be complete enough without front row or dashboard.
(another good advice , never Intel mac unless you want running only windows

The bug of 'SecurityError: Error #2123: Security sandbox violation: BitmapData.draw: file:///xxx/xxx.swf cannot access rtmfp://fms4.acrobat.com/cocomo/na2-sdk-xxx/xxx. No policy files granted access.' was first reported in lccs forum over a year ago:

But the bug is still around. The bug can be generated by calling BitmapData.draw() on a flash.media.Video object which is attached to a p2p stream. It looks like the solution is to have the publisher to call:
send("|RtmpSampleAccess", true, true)
on the NetStream object _before_ the subscriber calls NetStream.play(), in order to give the permission to subscribers for audio and video streams.
In lccs library, the above permission authorisation happens in WebcamPublisher:

One more note: This is not a critisism for the lccs development quality, but rather a question on how ready lccs is for production use. After encountering this bug, I had to go through the lccs code (the open source parts), and found out that the library is not really written, well, carefully, and it is full of temporary quick-n-dirty fixes.
For instance in the above example, sendSnapShotPermission() is called after 500 milliseconds, probably to allow something to happen before calling the method, but how can you be sure that it will happen in 500 milliseconds? Probably,an event listener should have been used. Immediately in the next line, we see:
_stream.send("|RtmpSampleAccess", true, true);
which is a duplicate of sendSnapShotPermission(). many examples like this can be found throughout the library.

1. When the publisher sends the access permission to the subcriber by:

, on the subscriber side, what event or function can handle the guaranteed receipt of the access permission? Currently it is possible to draw the incoming stream video upon receiving NetStream.Play.Star and waiting for 5 seconds or so:

Why has the "date received" has been the same for two years?
On my mail programme, all email sent and received has used the date I first set up Mail two years ago. Anyone else had this problem? Is it curable?
The date & time that Mail shows in the Date Received column is the date & time that appears in the latest (topmost) message’s Received header (which you can see doing View > Message > Long Headers), and is set by the recipient’s incoming mail server.
The date & time that Mail shows in the Date Sent column is the date & time that appears in the message’s Date header and is set by the sender’s mail client.

I have no idea how to read this
It looks like I have 2 cabinets for my postcode.
All I want it Infinity...... can sombody advise when I am likely to get it or how I can quicken the process up ?

ScottThere is no way you can speed up the process as it is Openreach that are responsible for the roll out of fibre
BT retail like any other ISP only has the details of theactive cabinets
The cabinets are the green boxes you see on many streets and you may often see Openreach engineers working on the fibre cabinet is placed close by the existing cabinet
Unfortunatly not every cabinet is upgraded for fibre first time around and additional phases of new cabinets are constantly being added to the existing cabinets
All you can do is wait until you see a new cabinet being installed in your area and keep using the infinity checker on the BT.com web site

I can't power up my pavilion dv6-3210. It has been working for over a year.
I can't get any power signal. No lights when plugged in. I tried to remove the battery and still no luck. Just dead. It was working last night fine but a few days ago had the same problem and removing the battery then powering up worked. Now nothing.
It is out of warranty so I need to know if HP does repair.Couldn't find anything on their site.It's back working. I'm thinking that maybe because it was plugged in while sitting on the carpet it might have engaged the heat sensor. Anyway I tried it again after a few hours without plugging it in and it fired up.

After upgrading to Lion, I went to open Mail and received the message that it needed to upgrade my Mail database - this may take a few minutes. The bar shows it is about 1/5 along and has been there for over 10 hours.
I tried quitting and starting again but it just jumps back to the same spot.It is quite large, but I have tried two of the fixes suggested and things now seem to be moving along.

Firefox has been randomly crashing for two days. I always have google and facebook running. Firefox seems to crash at random times - no specific web page loading. My Firefox is up to date.

It sounds like you are trying to change the Apple ID logged into the iTunes & App Stores on your iPhone. Use these steps:
Changing your Apple ID account
Tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores, then tap the Apple ID signed in.
Sign out of the current Apple ID account and then sign in with another account or create a new Apple ID.

I performed a software update and the system is installing an update but it has been running for over 24hrs and keeps saying "This may take a few minutes, don't shut down your computer" Can anyone help?
Hello cor-el, thanks for your reply. I changed my settings for downloads to desktop and it has appeared on there. When I double click I am asked which program I want to open file. I click firefox and another box "opening install" says I have chosen to open the file which is an application and do I want to save it. This is the only real option so I press save file. I get a box saying this is an executable file which may contain viruses - do you want to run. I press ok and the final box showing C drive file name and desktop appears stating application not found.
This happens the same whenever I try to install.
To my untrained eye the application is not being recognised as an application and I cannot work out how to get it to do that.
My plugin is still showing as out of date.
Is there anything you could suggest. Thanks for your time. -
It will not connect but my other apple devices can connect and the wifi works very well. I have moved houses to my house wifi isnt the same as the old one. Also, i have to type in the password every time even if i click autosave. Sometimes it also says invalid password or connection timeout. This has been going on for two months and is getting really annoying. I've tried most of the solutions listed on other discussions, none of them work. Any other tips? Thank you. My iMac suddenly no longer connects to wifi network when in KIOSK (username) mode, and only connects when as ADMINISTRATOR mode. Its strange because the iMac has been working fine in KIOSK mode for over a year until 2 days ago.
One of the memory cards was indeed faulty, and the other completely fine

Although there is one little thing that I've noticed. The iMac works properly, but I tried to software update to see if that may help my Minecraft sound issue (as I still don't think only having 2GB instead of 4GB would cause such a problem) but the software update application won't work. Running the "Software Update" from the apple menu on the toolbar gains no response, nothing happens. If I run the software update from system preferences, the application icon appears for a second, then disappears (as in the blank app. icon, the blank canvas with the pencil, pen and ruler in the bottom right corner). It does this every time I try to run it. It did work when the computer was crashing, but this started when on one of the occasions I ran the app. while it was crashing. Since this occured during the crashes, and still occurs now, I'm wondering did something simlar happen minecraft, as it's sound disappeared during the crashes and is still gone now.
However, the computer is now working again without crashes, which is the main thing, thanks for helping me fix the issue
