To get the CD to eject, hold down the mouse, or if you use it, trackpad, button while you reboot ... keep holding the button down until it ejects. If that doesn't work, this Apple note has some other steps.
See this Apple note on steps to take to deal with the grey screen.
Your iMac needs to be mid-2007 or newer with 2GB minimum memory (4GB+ is recommended) and 8GB or more of available disk space. You also should be at OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard to access the App store and install OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.

  • [HELP] Ipod Nano Buttons Don't Work [HELP]

Okay, I had got my Ipod on December 25, 2006, but now I recently came by a problem.
I charge my Ipod, and then take it out the right way. When I try to listen to my songs, the buttons don't work, the only button that works is the HOLD SWITCH. This is getting on my nerves. Do anybody know how to fix this problem? I might have to get another one or send in for repairing. Thanks.

    First try a reset...
Put the hold switch to the OFF/White position. Now toggle it ON/orange then back off again. Then press and hold both the MENU and center buttons on the iPod and hold them for a good 15 seconds or so. Your iPod should reboot starting with the Apple Logo screen.
Obviously if your buttons are truly broken the above won't work, but worth checking anyway.
Next, try restoring the iPod and see if that clears it up.
If not, then you may have an actual hardware failure.

  • Msi Z77A-GD55 (no beep on the start up)Help!

    hi all
I did build a computer with the msiZ77A-GD55, and when I started up the computer I never had A beep ? so I am worried to take the next step. could someone help me please ?
I get the bios up by pressing (DEL) it gives me the temp. recognized the i52500k etc..  I get the priority boot with (F11) the fans are working, but no beep is that normal? should I cary on and try installing windows7? if anyone could explain what to do I would be very great full thank you .

Beep codes will only and solely require a speaker connected to the onboard's JFP2 connector (internal speaker) it has nothing to do with external speakers connected to the onboard or an add-on soundcard. As you seem not to have any problem anyway I don't see the issue here.
    thenewoc,
what's this Windows 8 post and what has it to do with topic?

  • MAC 10.8.3 Every morning when I wake the computer up programs don't work, HELP

At night I put my computer to sleep and when I come in the morning the computer wakes up and everything looks ok until I start trying to use my programs.  Things don't open and function correctly. Then I shut everything down and try to Shut Down the computer and it goes to the grey screen and just sits there.  I have waited up to 10 min's and nothing happens so I have to manually power down the computer. Then I turn it on and everything works.
Why is this happening, anyone else have this problem?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Surround sound speakers don't work help

    I recently bought a new sony bravia t.v. and a sony all in one blu-ray disc/dvd all in one home theater system. We cannot get the surround sound speakers to work watching regular television. Can anyone help solve this problem? Any help is appreciated, Thanks, Ken Please write to {Removed per Forum Guidelines}

JUANGONZ is correct. The easiest way to get the surround is to take an optical cable from the cable box to the input on the back of the Sony receiver. You will have to change the input on the Sony to digital in. Make sure you have Dolby Digital enabled on the cable box settings. Also important is that most standard definition content is broadcast in stereo, usually only high definition is broadcast in 5.1 surround.
If you can stop in at your local Best Buy, I am sure they would be happy to show you on a display unit, or setup an appointment to have a Geek Squad Installer connect your components if you would like.

  • My Ipad 2 won't reboot. the little circle keeps going round but the buttons don't work. help please.

My Ipad 2 won't reboot. The little circle keeps going round but that's all, it won't boot. nothing happens when I press the button on the top either. Please help.

After you hold the power and home buttons at the SAME time until the Apple Logo appears (ignore the red slider to shut down) then let go of both buttons and you don't need to do anything else.  Your iPad will restart all by itself.  Just be patient, but leave your iPad alone after the Logo appears.

  • Login loop - Apple fixes don't work - HELP!

My iMac 20" (Core Duo) which had been running fine under 10.5.3 has suddenly died.
When I power it up, I get the login window, with my users. Logon as a user, it goes to blue screen, then goes back to the login window.
I've tried the solutions in Apple's note on recovering from the login loop after upgrading to Leopard (although my computer has been working fine after upgrading to Leopard the day after the new OS was released). Nothing works.
I am unable to force it to boot from the Install DVD - holding down 'C', 'option', or 'cmd-shift-alt-delete' are not effective in getting the iMac to boot from DVD.
I am unable to enter into safe or verbose mode at login using either cmd-S or cmd-V. Either combination simply gets me eventually to the login window, where the loop starts.
Zapping PRAM did not make any difference. In fact, I did not get the usual double-chime at all.
I was finally able to get a terminal prompt by entering ">console" as the 'other' user at login. Once there, I attempted to carry out the steps in Apple's note. However, while I am in the console mode, there is a constant stream of error messages, even as I type. By ignoring the error messages and typing, I was able to login and enter my password. I was also able to execute 'mount -uw' (without a / at the end) per Apple's note, and thereafter keyed in the launchctl and ls commands as listed in Apple's note.
However, when I key in the 'dscl....' command as listed in Apple's note, I get stuck. Error messages continue to scroll on the screen, but I do not get a further console prompt.
Seems like my iMac is hosed. Any suggestions/solutions? It's still under AppleCare so I can bring it back to Apple, but I'd like to try and solve it myself so I can safeguard the data on my harddisk.

Phew, being able to login to the other user account on the Mac was the solution. Once I managed to login to that account (had forgotten my wife's account password), I did an Archive & Install of Leopard, per this Apple support document: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1413?viewlocale=en_US
The funny thing is that the Apple document was to remedy a login loop after installing Leopard on an aluminium iMac, whereas mine is the older iMac 20" Core Duo (bought in March 2007). It had been running fine after installing 10.5.3, and I really have no idea what triggered this sudden failure.
    Anyway, working fine now.

  • Motion menu submenu buttons don't work - help?

Hi, I'm using encore v2 to create a video of a friend's children that I converted from a vhs tape, b/c she wants to be able to watch it on dvd, using her tv's dvd player (and possibly remote controller also).
so far, I've created all the chapter points, i'm following lesson 5 in my adobe encore v2 classroom in a book, i've created 3 submenus (chapters 1 to 10 menu,  chapters 11 to 20 menu, and chapters 21 to 22 menu, and on the main menu I've added (or tried to add) text buttons so the friend can navigate to any submenu she wants to and play any one chapter's video sequence she wishes to.
in motion preview, the chapter buttons work (that is, when I click on a random chapter button in preview to test the menu, the corresponding video sequences play,) but when I go to the main menu and try clicking on a "chapters 1 to 10" submenu, or a "chapters 11 to 20" submenu, etc, these buttons do not work at all.
this is what my video menu is supposed to look like. its from the lesson 5 instructions on pgs 114 - 116 from the encore v2 classroom in a book
how do I fix this menu?
    thanks in advance.

Please post a screenshot of your flowchart.
Just curious; does V2 have the Chapter Index feature? (Just look under menu and you'll see it.)

  • Z77A-GD55: Boot stuck with flashing cursor (need help!)

When I start my computer, it says A2 in the lower left of the screen, and then B2 for quite a long time. Afterwards, it's just a white cursor flashing on a black background, and nothing else happens.
I have recently installed a third hard disk and changed my graphics card (from 2x Sapphire HD 7970 to 1x EVGA GTX 760).
What can I do to fix this problem?

    Quote from: badboy2k on 20-August-13, 05:16:16
A2 = IDE Detect (looking for a hard drive as you do not have a OS that could just be the issue there)
B2 = Legacy Option ROM Initialization <---- that is a problem and may indicate you have a problem with your EVGA GeForce GTX 760 as that is usually a Graphics Card issue code (check its seated and connected properly)
was the 3rd HDD clean (new with no OS on it) and what SATA port you got it attached to?
I removed the graphics card and connected the screen cables to the motherboard instead, and then started the computer. I worked fine, but of course, I can't use it how I want to without a graphics card.
I then tried to insert it again, and made sure everything was connected properly. When I then started the computer, nothing had changed, and it was still stuck at the flashing cursor.
The new hard disk was clean, yes. I previously had my three drives connected like this:
    - SSD (240GB) and HDD (2000GB) connected to the two SATA 1&2 (6.0 Gb/s)
    - Optical drive (Bru-Ray read/write) connected to SATA 3 (3.0 Gb/s)
When I installed the new hard disk, I connected the old 2TB to SATA 4 (3.0 Gb/s), and the new 3TB to SATA 2 (6.0 Gb/s).
The 240GB SSD is the disk with the operating system (Win7 64), and this is still, and has always been, connected to SATA 1.
Does anyone have any possible solutions for my problem from the information currently given?
I haven't been able to use my dear gaming computer for four weeks now, and it's driving me crazy...

  • IPod and iTunes don't work, HELP!!!

I bought a few albums a week or so ago and didn't bother to burn a copy. Next, I got a few new CDs for Christmas, so I decided to upload them to iTunes. I had started when I had to log off of my account for a while. So, I logged off for about an hour, and I tried to get back on iTunes to finish uploading the CDs, but it wouldn't open, and I couldn't digure out how to get it to open. Then I went on vacation for about a week, and on about the third or fourth day my iPod (Classic, 30 GB, made in 2006) started spazzing out. It would play but the screen stayed the same, or it would "pause" without actually pausing. So I did the thing the support tells you to do , toggle the hold button, then press the middle and menu button simultaneously. I did that twice, cause the first time it didn't work. The second time I did this, it seemed to work, but then the screen just went black. I hit the menu button to see if that would help, but instead of making my iPod good as new, the screen went white and said "Connect to your computer. Use iTunes to restore." So, I obviously couldn't, because my computer was at home, and I wasn't. I waited till I got home (yesterday night) and restored my computer to a time I knew iTunes was working, and went to sleep cause it was taking a long time.
This morning, I got up and tried to open iTunes, but a window popped up that said Quicktime was not installed and iTunes needs Quicktime to run. so, I reinstalled Quicktime and when I tried to open iTunes, another window popped up that said that the Quicktime I had was 5.5(I think) and it needed 5.7 or later. So I uninstalled Quicktime and reinstalled it with Apple. I tried again to open iTunes, but yet another window popped up that said something like "Your library cannot be opened because it was installed on a more recent version of iTunes. So here I am now, after being on the computer all day, after repeatedly uninstalling and reinstalling Quicktime and updating iTunes several times, completely confused. Is there any way to get my library back and restore my iPod? Any and all hints are desperately wanted. Please help!
