Z77A-GD65 + GTX 275 SLI not working?

So I bought myself a new system yesterday, the MSI Z77A-GD65 motherboard with an i7 3770k processor. Everything installed fine, and the system is up and running. The only thing I cannot get working for the life of me is the SLI on two exact brand GTX 275 cards. The old motherboard I had before was a xfx 780i, and the SLI worked flawlessly on it.
The bios version I am running right now is the B5 bios (which I believe is the latest version).
Some of the things I did were, uninstalled the LAN drivers, then installing the nvidia drivers, updated the LAN drivers to the newest version, uninstalled Realtek's HD AUDIO driver, then trying the nvidia install, installed nvidia's beta drivers (301.24), turned on PCIE GEN3, and reinstalling the drivers using a clean install.
Does anyone have any advice on this? I am all out of options on my end. I even changed the SLI cable positioning on the graphics card by placing it closest to the back of the computer, then putting it on the next connectors going to the front of the case.
The only options I see in the nvidia control panel is the physx option, and I can either choose geforce gtx 275 or CPU... So I am wondering if maybe the integrated video is interfering with it? but I don't know how to disable it, or if you even can.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys!

Check the mainboard settings in the BIOS.
Go to Advanced settings.
Enter the Integrated Graphics Configuration.
Disable Virtu technology and select your discrete card as the initial GPU under Initate Graphic Aadapter.
Check that IGD multi monitor is disabled.
This is taken from my Z68, but I imagine your BIOS being pretty similar.
Give that a try and see if it helps.
I do have that all disabled with no go... I don't think I ever enabled it.

The problem may be with the enabling of PCI-E 3.0. The VGA's you have are 2.0.
I enabled PCI-E 3.0 as a last resort because when the GEN3 option was off, it wasn't working, so I turned it on to see if that would fix it, but that was a no go too...

  • Z77A-GD65 Gaming USB header not working.

I've had this board for about 8 months, up until now everything has been working fine. But the JUSB1 header just stopped working. It delivers power but won't recognize any device plugged in to it, and I tried several different drives, mice, etc. The other USB headers appear to be working fine. There are no problems indicated in Device Manager. I tried uninstalling the USB Root Hub driver and also reinstalling the Intel chipset driver, no luck. Is there any other option than RMA'ing the board ? I recently installed and uninstalled the Supercharger app, doesn't work with my Android, but I'm wondering if that might be the source of the problem ?

  • SLI NOT WORKING

Having issues getting my motherboard to work correctly with SLI not sure how to enable it to all be read properly.
    Motherboard- MSI Z77A-GD65
GPUS- MSI GeForce GTX660ti Power Edition
If anyone could just point me in the direction of which setting to choose in bios that would be greatly appreciated.
I think its also worth noting that windows is only reading one of the cards at a time.
I have already tested the cards every which way including trying them individually in a different machine.

  • Z77A-GD65: Disks shown but not selectable on creating a RAID volume

    Mainboard: Z77A-GD65
    CPU: Intel Core i7 3770K
    RAM: 2x Corsair DDR3-1600 XMS3 4GB
    HDDs: 2x Seagate Barracuda SATA3 7200.12 6GB/s
Upgraded System with new MB etc. yesterday and removed the old HDD.
After enabling RAID in BIOS, I went to the RAID settings with Ctrl+I. The RAID setup displays both HDDs with correct description and storage size, but when I was trying to create a new RAID volume the "disc selection" option is not selectable unless "Recovery" is chosen as RAID level. On RAID level "Recovery" both disks are selectable but no RAID volume is created during the process. When RAID level 0 or 1 is chosen still the correct size of the potential volume is calculated by the RAID setup.
Additionally, I tried the same procedure with both "RAID hot-plug" enabled and disabled in BIOS.
The HDDs are plugged into SATA-ports 1+2. No OS installed yet.

After several unsuccessful attempts of formatting and partitioning the disks, I installed the OS. Subsequent use of the thereafter installed Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) enabled me to created the RAID volume under Windows, which is now additionally shown on the IRST page after the POST screen.
So the RAID volume creation worked, but it still takes me wonder why I haven't been able to do this after the POST screen in the first place  .
Well, problem still kind of solved.

I have not update my drivers to the latest since the factory reset. Please help me out

Hi all, my EIST is not working properly, the CPU clock run between 3.7-3.9 all the time (VID 1.153 - 1.219)
    Here is my setup:
    Motherboard and CPU: MSI Z87 GD65 Gaming + 4770K
OS: Clean installed Win 7 SP1 with most updated driver from MSI site.
Bios version: 1.2 (All default settings)
Actually the EIST works before without installing driver ME and chipset driver from MSI site, any advices?
    thanks in advance.

    Hi and welcome,
      to DougQuaid tip.
Allso if you have OC your system, you need to set Ratio mode to Dynamic and voltage mode to Adaptive.
Like in this picture of my BIOS settings. I marked those with yellow.
Warning: After that you shouldent stress test your CPU anymore with Prime95, Occt, or so on programs. Because they could get the MB give too much power to CPU
I just tested those (ME and Chipset) files from MSI and still get my clock and voltage down normaly.
There seams to be new official relice of BIOS 1.3v there too, so you could try that. if yours cot some bug in it.
Also make sure on task manager that your pc isnt doing anything under. Like live Spybot/virus/... -Scans.
I hope these help Cheers, Mummy

  • Z77a-gd65 i7-3770k will not drop multiplier when idle windows 8

New to the forums here!  my setup is a z77a-gd65 i7-3770k with windows 8, and recently i've had a weird issue where no matter what my cpu stays at a constant x39 multiplier according to CPU-Z (version 1.63.0.x64).  i've tried just setting all BIOS settings to default to no avail.  Then I tried a simple turbo clocking method where I set all 4 core limits to 40 just to test, kept c1e and cstate options enabled, disabled speedstep, enabled enhanced turbo, and used xmp profile for memory, all other things default, and it's still stuck at x39 according to cpuz.  Is there anything else I should check?
I basically want a simple oc for now where it idles at x16 and goes up to xwhatever when the cpu is being used.  i just find it weird that after messing with some settings the multiplier never changes.
    Thanks for your help!

Just set those to default then set it to balanced. If it throttles you know it is the settings.
Otherwise, you might want to try updating to the most recent bios. >>Beta BIOSes<<

  • GTX 580 (SLI) not stable?

    My system: nl.hardware.info/usersystemen/8733/sandy-bridge-gamesysteem
I bought them (the cards) a liltle over 3 years ago 2nd hand (basicly brand new from a OC guy upgrading). I had some problems getting them stable but the last 3 years it went smoothly.
Now I replaced my motherboard last week (and added a SSD and some more HD and ram at the same time) and I have the same problem again. Which I think is due to the reset of settings of the cards.
So far it only happened during games (SC2, PvZ Garden Warefare and Dota 2). The pc locks up basicly and I get a black screen, as in the monitor goes off and then blinks like a off monitor does, the fan goes up and I have to reset the pc. Then in windows I get a blue screen error box.
I already did memtest which ran 3,5 times without errors. Turned off SLI and still crashed 1-2  times.
I also have 3DMark where sometimes it goes through and sometimes well not.
Using MSI Afterburner to try to find some stable settings but I can't seem to get it working (again). I'm no expert by any means so I could use some help/suggestions. I have heard that the MSI cards have to low voltage standard out of the box. I tried upping that but even with standard GTX settings (not this standard OC) I cant get it stable.
My windows and drivers (Nvid 337.88) are all new and should be working fine.  Guess I should have RMA'ed them the first time but somehow they got stable and the last 3 years I've had no problems. Not sure how MSI handles situtions like this where even after a long time they show leniency and offer some kind of trade in or upgrade like some companies (not just GPU card ones).
Anything I need to provide (can't add dxdiag?) or test or settings to doublecheck/update or tips on how to best get them stable again?

Might be that the new motherboard doesn't support old vBIOS of the GPUs.

  • Mercury playback with GTX 460 still not working

Hey all, sorry if this has been answered before, but I searched and didn't find aynthing.
I just got a GTX 460 2gb GPU and I put it in the cuda approved file, but I still don't think that it is working. When I go into premiere, I have the option of setting mercury playback to use the GPU instead of "software only", but when I render files, I see that my CPU is being used almost 100% and the activity of my GPU does not increase. Is there something else I need to do?

You also have to make some change in the Nvidia graphics control panel for the MPE to function.
Go to Manage 3D settings, click Add and browse to the Premiere Pro.exe file, select this and Premiere will appear in the drop down list.  In the field Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration, select "Compatibility Performance Mode".
You should now be able to activate CUDA in the Project Setting, general tab in Premiere.

  • GPUz states SLI not working

For some reason GPUz is stating SLI is disabled even though the Nvidia control panel states it is enabled.
My motherboard is a 990XA-GD55 with an AMD 8350, 2x Asus GTX 660Ti OC, Corsair CX750m, Gskill 4x4gb ram.
    http://www.msi.com/product/mb/990XAGD55.html
I know that this motherboard only has two PCIe 2.0 1x16 slots, though one of them only runs in x8 so they are both being downgraded to x8 (at least that is what I think is happening).
    1st PCIe x16 slot is running in x8 mode @ 2.0
2nd PCIe x16 slot is running in x8 mode @1.1
Does this seem off to anyone? Why does GPUz state SLI is disabled?
Is there any way to have my main x16 slot running in x16 while the other is x8? If not, is there a reason the secondary x16 slot that is made to run in x8 only running @ PCIe 1.1 instead of 2.0 and how can I fix this?
Edit: Hmm, for some reason it is varying which x8 it is running at. Sometimes it is 2.0/1.1, 1.1/2.0, or 2.0/2.0 yet I have changed nothing. Let me know if you can explain why this is.

with that board there are only 16 PCI-E lanes total for the 2 x16 slots as the second is tied into the Primary x16 physical slot! when you have 2 cards they have to share the 16 available lanes between them so you get 2 x8 lane slots (the upper is wired for x16 and the lower is wired for x8 but they share the same lanes so the 16 gets spit in 2 to supply sufficient lanes to each slot 50/50)......
it has nothing to do with SLI at all as that is fine even if you has a x16 and a x8 slot and enougth lanes to feed both at there full lane allocations the SLI feature would engage regardless even with split lane speed on the 2 cards like that as all SLI needs is at least 8 lanes on each and so 1 would be just at it and 1 2X above (its to do with the boards architecture not the implementation of SLI as the 2 x16 physical slots are linked to 1 bank of 16 PCI-E lanes only)..... (nearly all 990XA chipset boards have that limitation and the only way they can make that better is to implement PLX splitter chips to create a multiplication of lanes but they have there own problems as its another step between the CPU and PCI-E slots as then its not PCI-E - Multiplex chips (used to allow coms to the CPU) - CPU it becomes PCI-E - Multiplex chips - PLX Splitters - CPU and they are expensive too and are reserved for only the very high end stuff eg: GD80 if price dictates some extras of that sort of line or on intel ones like a M-power MAX will maybe have them if its deemed necessary)
the x8 - x8 with 2 cards is just due to limited lanes and there is no way to make the top one x16 unless you only put in 1 card in as then the top slot has all the 16 PCI-E lanes that are available...

  • K9N2 SLI not working

Well, I did a lot of search on here and found similar problems, but, those answers did not help. Here is the lengthy story:
I ordered MSI K9N2 Platinum with AMD 940 BE, 8GB OCZ Reaper, and used my current videos cards ( EVGA 9500GT 512 DDR3 ) as well as my 700 watt Thermaltake PSU. I am utilizing XP64.
I assembled PC with just 1 stick of RAM in place. Installed OS, tried to install the MoBo drivers off included CD rom, but, they do not include the XP64 drivers..... no biggie, I found a post by Boss with a link to the correct nVidia drivers. Worked!!! You go Boss!!
The VGA onboard was what I used until I got all updated BIOS 3.3 ,drivers and Service Packs installed.
I then went to install both cards at the same time ( with SLI bridge of course ). Screen was blank. It registered that there was something since the screen did not go into hibernate state...but, no visual.
I removed the cards and went back to onboard, got visual again.
I reinstalled both cards....nothing. Removed the secondary card....nothing. Put one card in secondary slot removed the other from primary, got visual. Left card in secondary, updated drivers for card.
Reinstalled both cards, nothing. Go into BIOS with cards in secondary, verified onboard VGA was disabled as well as Hybrid SLI.
Wiped CMOS several times while I removed the power cord and verified the Slot was clean. Nothing changes.
I have completed 3 fresh installs just to make sure I did not goof something up.
Removed board from case. No difference. The fan on the GPU in the primary turns on and spins just as fast as the secondary, so it seems to be getting ample power.
8-port plug is plugged into top of MoBo as well as the 4-pin.
Called tech support.......guy seemed a little unsure of issue I think.
Any suggestions? Havent resorted to a hammer yet, but, if it works

If onboard, and 2nd slot works with any card, it looks logical that there is a problem with 1st slot.
Don't think it is that, but you could have a go with less memory.

  • Z77a-gd65 debug 60 - does not output video, keyboard and mouse don't light up

    Hello guys!
I've had this motherboard since August 2012. It worked great until my street suffered from a power outage yesterday, and since it came back on I can't figure out what exactly is wrong with my mobo.
The power up process occurs fine until debug code 60 shows up, then nothing else happens. There's no video, my Mouse and Keyboard lights stay off, but all the 8 CPU phase leds are on, DrMos_Alarm led is off, and it doesn't reboot by itself.
I also didn't find debug code 60 on the manual. There's 63-67, 69-6F, but nothing about 60. I know i'm reading it from the correct perspective, because a bunch of other codes such as 4F appear before 60. I can't tell exactly which code comes right before 60 because it flashes at least 3 other codes very quickly.
I've tried the clear CMoS button (with the system off), I've tried removing the CMoS battery and using a jumper on JBAT1 to clear CMoS, I've tried the multi-bios switch. Nothing changed.
All the fans in my rig seem to function fine, including the CPU (connected in the CPU_FAN1) and GPU fans. I've also taken voltage measurements:
    VCCP = 1.264V
    CPU_VTT = 1.054V
CPU_GFX = 0.03V (this seemed a tad low, should I be worried? This was taken without any dedicated graphics cards in the mobo)
    VCC_DDR = 1.513V
    PCH_1P05 = 1.056V
Could you guys give me any advice?

both 4F and 60 are DXE error codes (Pre-OS BIOS drivers that allow components to function before it has Software drivers)
if you have more then one memory module in the board try each individually and see if one of the sticks have failed or if you have some other DDR3 RAM try that?
Thanks for your reply. Here's what I did:
    1) Removed each stick individually. Both of them caused the system to lock up at debug code 60 again.
    2) Removed both sticks and tried two Kingston 1333mhz 2gb sticks from another machine (so, 4gb total, the patriots are 2x8gb). This caused a "loop" in the debug led where a bunch of different codes cycled very quickly, followed by "4F" where it stayed for about 2 seconds, then the cycle would begin again. I let the cycle run about a dozen times, then it moved to 63 and "hanged". The keyboard did not lit up, nor there was any video.
    3) Removed the two kingston sticks and inserted them in different slots. The cycle between different codes followed by a pause after 4F happened again, but this time it didn't move on to 63, not even after it repeated for a couple dozen times.
    4) Removed the two kingston sticks and tried a third kingston stick (2gb, 1333mhz) that hasn't been in use for a few months. This time, only the first CPU Phase led lit up (not the DrMos alarm led) and the debug led didn't show anything. I powered off the system and put in the Patriots again. No debug code, only 1st CPU phase led is lit up.
Is it safe to assume that the mobo is damaged? Is there anything I can do to make sure at least the CPU is okay? It would suck to buy a new mobo and find out I need a new CPU as well, I'd rather move on to haswell if that's the case.

  • MSI X58 Pro SLI not working - solved

Just wanted to post my experience of the last couple days here so that hopefully google and the other spiders will grab it in case other people have the same problem I was having.
I have an MSI X58 Pro, and was running a single GeForce 8800GT for a long time.  I grabbed a second one on ebay thinking an SLI setup it would be a snap to install.  I came to find out that the bios version on my motherboard supported Cross Fire out of the box, but no SLI support.  When I had the MSI website do an automatic scan, it came back that the most up to date bios version for my board was 7.xx, but the version that supported SLI was 8.xx.  I was close to throwing in the towel, but found some threads here pointing to the download and use of the MSIHQ USB Bootable Tool and BIOS helper.  I manually downloaded the v 8.E bios update, had the tool create a bootable usb thumb drive, updated the bios without any drama and bingo, SLI is now working on my machine.
Big props and my thanks to the guys who made this tool, I owe you a cold one!

Thank you very much for the glowing post.  Yes, we are very proud of the Forum Flasher and have been trying to get MSI to officially adopt it as well.

    Hey everyone,
I'm having an issue, trying to update the bios. I'm currently on 1.3 and trying to update to 1.B to no success.
I have run live update 6.11 which found the new bios and went to install, but because i run win7x64 it looks for Intel Management engine driver which is not available for the board, as it appears, as its installing the Intel ME driver it comes up saying my PC doesn't meet the requirements, assuming that because of x64 OS. ((OR ITS TOO AWESOME)) So No bios update..
So i then used the files i downloaded from MSI website for BIOS 1.B, go to m-flash in the bios, follow the prompts for "bios flash with ME" and FROZEN!
Nothing happens and if i didn't knock the mouse i wouldn't have realized for some time.. No progress bar no anything, frozen screen, so i hit RESET ! Try again... nothing... Same ...
