Z77a-gd65 hangs on bios screen and also doesn't boot

i7 3770k
MSI GTX 670
2x8GB 1300 memory.
I cannot get into the bios.  If I hook the monitor to the gtx 670, I can get it to display the msi bios screen "temperature, boot device priority" but that's it.  There's no data, no temperature, just like it put the bios image up and then hung.
Right after hitting the cmos button, I get the following:
E7751 IMS  v10.5 4/27/2012
i7 3770k 3.5ghz
16gb ddr 1333 dual channel
It doesn't seem to let me hit "f1 to setup" or "f2 to continue" with a ps2 keyboard.
If I boot from the cd to try and install winki, there's some info that flashes too fast to see but its to the choice of install, and then whatever option I choose, it will display a clear screen with the logo and eventually the screen goes black with a blinking cursor.
If I boot from a usb linux drive I have, it again goes through the boot choices, and then the screen goes black a few seconds in.  Doing this I think I got the mainboard leds to display "ff"  otherwise they display either "00" or "ad" or "ae".
The monitor is apple monitor through an adc to dvi adapter.  I've used this for years on an ati radeon on a p4 windows setup so it shouldn't be a problem but...  if I hook the monitor directly to the mainboard onboard video, the bios screen graphics stop hanging open, the screen just immediately goes black.
I've tried clearing the bios with the button, switching the multibios, and jumpering the cmos with the power off.
I have not tried flashing the bios, I was thinking about doing that through winki but it won't load.
Thanks.

I tried just one stick of ram in a different slot but no difference.
And as in my first post I tried the onboard a bit but it was about the same.  Actually I forgot what I tried, I just now tried the apple cinema display to the onboard video card and unpowered the gtx 670 without taking it off the board and the display doesn't come on at all.
I think that was what it was last time I tried the onboard, that I thought it might be something about the adc-dvi converter.  But it works besides.
Why would it be able to get to the boot choice screen but not the bios though?  The PSU has a 7 year warranty, its probably decent, manual says 62.4a +12v .8a -12v
One other thing, if this matters.  The first two blue lights are always on on the motherboard, the voltage indicators or whatever, but when it tries to load winki, the other blue lights blink.  And right now, with the monitor on the onboard, all the lights are on.  But the monitor isn't.
Also, do you need a mouse plugged in, that probably wouldn't make a difference, I think I've tried that as well.

  • Desktop hangs on BIOS screen

Hi, I have an Elite H8-1010 desktop PC. I was trying to install Windows 8 on the computer and changed to order of my boot sequence so that it would start from the hard drive first and not the CD drive (every time the computer rebooted during the installation it would start from the disk and try to start the install all over again). Anyway, after I changed the settings I saved them in my BIOS and restarted to hopefully continue the installation. No such luck, all the computer does now is hang at the BIOS screen and proceed no further.
I have already tried unplugging everything from the mobo (except CPU of course) and the computer beeps like it should, but when I have it  with just the essentials plugged in (CPU, graphics card, RAM and boot drive) I get the same hang at the BIOS screen. I also tried changing the jumpers to reset the BIOS according to the mobo sheet for my computer on HP's website, but the picture of the jumpers they have does not match what is on my mobo.
I'm really hoping there is a way to fix this and that it's not because I somehow fried my motherboard. Any helpful suggestions are much appreciated and welcomed.

    HI,
Unplug your boot drive (HDD) form mobo and then chekc. if you are getting sucessfully POST screen of your mobo then you have a faulty HDD.
try to reformat HDD with some other tool and then try to install new os in it.
    Hope it helps!

  • MSI Z87 GD65 - Hangs on black screen with 9C at bottom right

Pretty much what the title says, 'MSI Z87 GD65 - Hangs on black screen with 9C at bottom right'. Does anyone have any idea why it does this? It hangs for a while before eventually continuing with the start-up, this is most frustrating when I have an SSD and want a quick start-up. I have already looked it up in the manual to no luck. Help?

9C last for me like 1 to 3s, depending on the amount of USB devices attached.   If I have only USB printer, keyboard, and mouse attached, it shows for roughly less than 1.5s.

    Hi LifeGood,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  In iOS, FaceTime is not a separate app and FaceTime calls can be made as described here:
    iOS: Using FaceTime

How do I make a FaceTime call?
You can make a FaceTime call in multiple ways, depending on your device:
iPhone 4 or later: You can place a FaceTime call using the following apps:
Phone: While on a phone call, you can tap the FaceTime icon to invite the other party to a FaceTime call.
Contacts: Tap the FaceTime icon to place a FaceTime call to the contact you are viewing.
iPad 2 or later, iPad mini, iPod touch (4th generation) or later, and FaceTime for Mac: You can place a FaceTime call using the following apps:
FaceTime: Place a FaceTime call using your contacts list.
Contacts: Tap the FaceTime icon to place a FaceTime call to the contact you are viewing.
Note: There is no FaceTime app on iPhone. Use the Phone app instead.

hello, my ipod 5th generation has a broken screen, and also the inner lcd seem to be faulty also, anybody has an idea how much it cost to fix or replace it with apple?

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99 for a 16 GB 5G and $149 for the other 5Gs. They do not fix yours.

Have you tried a reset by pressing and holding the sleep/wake button and the home button for 20 seconds (maybe longer) until the Apple logo appears, ignore the red slider.  Then turn back on. You won't lose any data doing the reset.

  • Mac Pro gets stuck on the grey screen and won't finish booting

I have a Mac Pro 1, 1 recently (successfully) upgraded to snow leopard that gets stuck on the grey screen with the spinning rainbow cursor (after the apple logo and brief blue screen) and won't finish booting up. This happened after my computer froze up and I had to force quit.  I checked out the forums and I tried all the all the suggestions (like disconnecting peripherals) and appropriate disk utilities, saw no errors with the HD reported, and had no trouble doing a safe boot  (everything works o.k. there) or starting up from the software disk to perform the repairs.  I did notice that during the repair permissions command, it gets stuck in the last few minutes, the CD starts to chug along, and everything freezes and I have to force quit.  This happens every time I try it.  I eventually backed everything up, erased the HD and reinstalled the OS, reset PRAM and NVRAM, but I'm still getting the grey screen on restart.  Tech tool deluxe reports a "fail" on the video RAM, but everything else seems to check out.  Could it be a graphics card issue?   I did notice some funky visual glitches occurring prior to the breakdown.  Any other ideas?

I wouldn't trust Apple Disk Utility to do a hard drive repair, but I would go with TechTool Pro 5/6 if you have that instead of Disk Warrior from Alsoft.
Clone the drive, though you should have some bootable backup clones already; repair the clone; then boot and work from that drive. Always have a working copy of the system.
And off load all your data to other drives.

  • [SOLvED]Installation restore after BIOS update. UEFI doesn't boot.

    Hello.
In order to solve my trouble with firewire on my motherboard in was adviced -in the FW mailing list- to update the BIOS. As expected the boot entry created with efibootmgr was erased but thats fine and i knew it was going to happen.
The problem however is that neither archboot (USB) neither archiso (CD) nor ubuntu12.04 (USB) can boot into it so i can restore the uefi entries.
All hang with a blank screen. Ubuntu and Archboot booted fine in UEFI mode before the update.
I tried nomodeset, acpi=off and noapic but ended up with the same blank screen and no messages at all.

I downgraded to the previous (83) and to the original (70) and it doesn't boot in any of those two in UEFI.
It worked fine with version 70 before the morning update.

  • IPod Touch hangs with blue screen and restore mode also fails

My daughter's iTouch 3G crashed last night while she was playing a game came up with a blue/green screen and couldn't turn off. Tried reboot which brought it back to Apple Logo where it stayed for about 10mins. Then tried restore. Managed to get as far as connecting it to iMac and going through restore process to "restoring iPod software" until that hangs too - with "iPod couldn't be restored Unknown Error 1603". Tried again with Error 9.
Have followed troubleshooter - have latest itunes, USB settings, firewall etc. Works fine with my iPhone.
Any ideas or is the iTouch screwed?

Common, no one has any ideas?  Well, don't know if this will help, but here's some new data to process.  I noticed that when I was trying to load the firmware with Redsnow w/o installing any options to include Cydia I got errors displayed on the Ipod such as WMR NAND format invalid; NANDLegacyFTL failed.  Someone has got to know something.  I would appreciate any ideas or thoughts from anyone with any idea.  Thanks

  • Z77A-GD65 hangs on A2 at post...

About a week ago i started getting this hang on boot, it will show the codes down in the bottom right of an otherwise blank screen and it stops at A2, it will sit there for anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes, then the post finishes it shows the splash screen and boots right into windows no problem.
I see on the forums that A2 is related to the SATA drives.  So i unplugged my DVD drive, still got it, unplugged my secondary hard drive, still got it, unplugged my SSD, no hang on A2 but thats to be expected because there is no drive attached.
If i connect the DVD drive only i dont get the hang, if i connect the DVD and my SSD no hang, but if i connect all three it hangs.
Now i know what your going to say, its a bad hard drive... NO
I replaced the secondary drive twice with two brand new out of the box 2tb WD Red drives i have on hand, i also tried a WD Green thats a brand new 1tb.  The original drive is a WD Black.
I went into the bios and removed the second hard drive from the boot options, also disabled it in BBS boot priority.  But it still hangs on A2.  Some said disable USB Legacy Support, i tried that, still hangs.
Latest bios installed, latest firmware on the OCZ SSD, nothing else that i can think of to try or do to resolve it.
Anyone got some ideas?  The board and drives are only a few months old and have been flawless up until last week.

SSD's are far more reliable than standard HD's from what i have seen.  OCZ and Samsung are the two brands i have not had any issues with, Adata isn't bad but some of them have acted up but firmware fixed that.
I tried moving all the ports around and swapping cables, but i think i finally fixed it.  The cable to the DVD drive was brand new but when i swapped it the A2 hang quit.
Back to 10 second boots and reliability!

  • MacBook Pro hanging with blue screen and spinner after installing Software Update

Hi I was wondering if someone could help me with this current issue. Just a few hours ago I finished reinstalling Mac OS X Snow Leopard in my MacBook Pro. I performed a clean installation as part of a yearly spring cleaning that I do on all my systems to keep them optimized. So there was I downloading some software updates which included the combo update of OSX 10.6.8 and others. The updates finished downloading and the system logged out to install the updates, when the updates finished installing my MacBook proceeded by logging out into a blue screen and show a gray spinner similar to the one seen when you start your Mac. Here's the problem after 2 hours the system is showing the spinner and the blue screen, I think that my computer has just hanged in the reboot process.
I was wondering what should I do? Do a force restart? Or leave it overnight?
Also, where can I find any information on what error is causing this issue?
I appreciate your responses and help.
By the way, I installed Mac OS X from a USB stick that has the original image of the disk installer that came bundled with my computer.

    Kappy wrote:
Force a shutdown. Do not restart yet, but first do the following:
    Repair the Hard Drive
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Next, boot into Safe Mode then restart normally.
    Hi Kappy,
Checked the hard drive after forcing a shutdown and booting from my Snow Leopard Installer USB Key and the status of the HDD says "Verified". I ran the repair and the volume was repaired successfully. Clicked on "Verify Disk" and it says "Macintosh HD appears to be OK". So I ran a second repair and again no errors were reported.
As suggested I booted back again in Safe Mode and restarted normally. All software appears to have been installed successfully. But I don't understand why my computer hanged and showed the spinner after installing the updates in the blue screen that appears just before rebooting. I am aware that the system shows that spinner after a OS update but the longest it lasts is 30 seconds at the most in my previous cases.

  • New P55-GD65 System with old already installeWindows 7 doesn't boot, Blue screen

I just built my new system with these specs

    I had a 500gb SATA WD HDD which i used with my old system, with windows 7 ultimate 32bit and windows xp 64bit installed. It was working pretty fine with that system. When i built this new rig, i installed the same HDD with it but wt i now face is that my win7 doesn't boot. Soon after windows 7's logo appears, the system reboots after a short blue screen. On reboot win7 asks for a startup repair . . . when i go for it, it fails to repair. I get the following thing in error;

Can anybody help me here. I really don't want to go for a fresh installation.

My XP 64bit works pretty fine wid it although some drivers for "SM BUS Controller" and "Base System Cannot" can't be found.. The problem is only wid win7.

will give a try to install msi drivers using my old system and then connecting the HDD back to this new rig.... Hope it will work...!!!!
That activity is pointless.  You cannot install drivers for stuff that is not there on your old system.
Please do yourself a favour and stop dancing around this whole problem (which seems like a pseudo-problem to me).  Putting on a fresh installation of the operating system is the first thing that should be done on a new system configuration.  Even if you manage to get stuff working without reinstalling, you are working with a potential driver mess and a confused Windows Registry that may throw problems at you that you may currently not be an issue.
