Z77A-GD65 mobo and ethernet port

I recently rebuilt my computer using the Z77A-GD65 motherboard after my old one ( and my GPU) were killed by a bursting water cooler. I had a few problems setting it up, but the only problem left is that the ethernet port won't work. I'vr tried different drivers, both in Vista and Win7 but it won't work. Device manager recognises it, with an exclaimation mark, and properties says it cannot start with an error of D10 ( I think).
Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks
Paul
Ooops. Sorry. Did a forum search and found nothing so I posted this query. Then I googled it and it brought me back to Msi forum. Still if you have any ideas, please feel free to let me know.

I solved the problem with the Lan and the onboard sound at the weekend. I installed the mobo into a new Corsair Obsidian 750D case and everything started working. Except for the power switch and the power light, but that's probably my cack handedness. Thanks for your help.

it is just a day with disaster. I bought Z77A-GD65 yesterday, and now it almost driver me crazy , i have two most famous problem of the board ,the CODE10 and ERROR 55!!!
after i bought this board to home ,i spend few hour to figure out the reason why the system can not be booted.
the DIMM SLOT 3&4 of my board is malfunction,no matter what combination i use (1&3,2&3, 3&4...etc),but it works for 1 and 2(i have 4 ram sticks, all of them is fine)
i do upgrade to BIOS 10.5(thx god ,i have two computer ,otherwise i cant even do it because of following issue)
after i solve the problem by only plug in 2 ram (DIMM1&2), succeed to boot up, a new problem occurred to me ,the CODE10!
latest driver , clean system install ,cmos cleaned, does not help.
i have read this thread for code10

    and  for error55
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=158224.0
it seems the best way to solve it is RMA.
I notice that there is an Authorized Motherboard Repair Center (East Coast):
    361 Alden Road
    Markham, Ontario, L3R 3L
i live in Toronto, can i just go there and give the board to them  to fix it or i can only mail it?
If i need to mail it ,what should i do?

Code 10 means the device cannot start. You have the right driver for the Intel 82579V is shorted by either a motherboard screw or a raiser under it. The ethernet adapter has lights which light up id driver is installed (even though code 10 is in effect).
Solution: Remove 1 or 2 motherboard screws and turn the pc on. Repeat until you find out which screw caused the issue. For me it was the screw closest to the ethernet controller.
The wa i fixed it was I was used a plastic washer and I was still able to have the motherboard screw in and at the same time not get code 10 anymore and my Intel 82579V worked fine since.

  • Help! Z77A-GD65 mobo won't post - Debug LED says dE - no beeps

I'm not sure where to start. I came home to find my computer off. Turning it back on results in all the lights and fans coming back on. No post   and no beeps. Screens are just blank.
The 8 blue CPU phase LED lights above the CPU are all on.  Nothing unusual there.
The Debug LED lights show "dE" which isn't documented at all in the manual. Does anyone know what this error code means?

but how i can i acquire image with IP camera and fpga ???
The Ethernet hardware interface in the cRIO is not directly connected to the FPGA backplane in a way that you could directly access it. Even if you could it would be a pretty bad idea to try to do. A fully operational TCP/IP network stack implementation in the FPGA would not leave much resources for anything else even on the biggest FPGAs available. That doesn't include support for the typical image compression algorithmes which are even more complicated to implement on FPGA. Even if you would go to highly optimized VHDL code directly it would be a pretty difficult thing to do!
In fact implemenintg the MAC and PHY of an ethernet interface on the FPGA is totally trivial in comparison. The IP level could also be implemented fairly easily in the FPGA but anything above that is going to give you bad headaches and still will be very limited in number of connections and packet sizes it can support.

  • Z97-GD65 mobo and Killer E2200 Ethernet controller issue

    Hi there.
I recently bought a new board, a MSI Z97-GD65 Gaming and i'm happy with it, but I have a little problem I can't solve: My internet download rate is exactly 10MB/s when my connection can reach 20MB/s.
Following instructions of this forum I removed the Killer Ethernet Manager using the "Killer_clear(64bits)" and installed the stand-alone drivers for the Killer E2200 PCI-E Controller, but still suffering the same cut of download rate.
The only thing I could now is try to "transform" that controller into a "Qualcomm Atheros AR813X/AR815X/816X Series PCI-E Ethernet Controller", but I don't know if it would be the solution.
Anyone here has the same issue?
    (BTW I use Windows 7 64bits FYI)
    Thanks a lot!

Quote from: moist on 05-June-15, 03:21:27
Well, I bought a cheap PCI-e ethernet card, installed it, disabled the onboard E2200 killer, started Windows and I got 1,0Gbps in seven seconds without any other software installation need.
I don't know what's happening with Killer cards , maybe it's a driver issue or a faulty hardware, but i'm sure I won't buy in the future a motherboard that includes this network brand.
Honestly, I'm right there with you. I absolutely hate the Killer cards.....
Unfortunately, it's becoming harder and harder to get a motherboard without them, since all the OEM's seem to think that gamers want those cards on their computers. Personally, I hate them with a passion. The software is badly coded, and rarely works as expected.
The best thing I can suggest doing is using the drivers without the management software. This way you can still use the ethernet adapter, but not be limited by the management software. There should be a stickied post at the top of this forum I believe with information on it.

  • Cannot Boot Z77A-GD65 w/ASMedia SATA Ports Enabled

Hey all. I saw one older thread with no answers posted in it but I'm hoping someone here knows a solution to this. I'm running a Z77A-GD65 with the latest 10.11 BIOS. I current have an SSD (which has Windows on it), a 1TB HDD for games and two other 3TB drives on eSATA ports. I want to add in another 1TB drive and RAID 0 it with the current one but in order to do this and keep everything else, I had to enable the ASMedia 7/8 SATA ports on the board which I previously wasn't using. I moved my two eSATA connectors onto those ports, put my SSD on SATA1. As long as the ASMedia ports are enabled, my system will not boot. The BIOS gives the error that it can't find an OS on my SSD (even though it does detect properly and is selected as the primary boot device.) Trying to select the SSD by pressing F11 gives the same result. As soon as I disable the ASMedia ports again, the system boots fine.
Basically, the system is rendered useless with the ASMedia ports enabled. Some people say they can boot off of those but the performance is apparently very bad so I'm not prepared to do that. It makes no sense that enabling another controller that has nothing to do with the Intel one breaks that but there we have it.
Is there a solution to this problem? I'm not going to be at all pleased if I have to buy a separate SATA card when I have one on the board that can't be used. Thanks all!

I resolved the problem by deleting the ASMedia drivers and using Device Mgr to "Update Drivers / Browse My Computer" and selecting the Microsoft default drivers. So far my 1 TB Seagate drive is running fine with my CD/DVD Combo on the other port. I don't know if there will be issues if I connect two HDD to the ASMedia ports or not. I thought I would post this in case it would help someone else having issues. I haven't ran any benchmarks for performance but it seems fairly snappy when copying files from my SSD to the HDD.
BTW, I am ditching my EVGA 680 SLI for a new MSI GTX 980 Gaming 4G which will be here tomorrow. It matches my motherboard color scheme and layout perfectly. I am really looking forward to seeing that lighted dragon logo inside my PC's window. I am hoping this MSI video board serves me as well as my EVGA boards have in the past.
EDIT: I spoke too soon. After copying several folders to the Seagate drive my PC froze up. Keyboard and mouse were unresponsive and it required a hard restart. I tried switching ports for the mouse and the light only flickered briefly when I plugged it in. The Seagate drive is working fine on my free Intel SATA port. I have abandoned the notion of running 3 Samsung drives in a RAID array because benchmarks show a performance drop off. Two SSD in RAID_0 seem to be best for optimum performance. I'm still looking forward to my new MSI video board. Maybe this mobo needs RMA? Maybe power issues with the ASMedia SATA ports? IDK, I need to RMA sooner or later because one of the BIOS is fried.

  • Z77A-GD65 ram and DR. mos problem after 2 years without any HW change or OC!

Hi guys, i have three Z77A-GD65 from 2 years with the same hardware config, no overclock or others OC settings ....simply default bios settings;  in this last 2 months, not at the same time, all of my 3 mainboards  have the same identical problem.
One day, from nowhere, without any reason, i start my pc and mobo don't start, hangs with code 55 ( memory error) and Dr mos alarm led goes on, i try to reset bios .. nothing.
I Switch multibios to "B" bios and works perfectly .. i've tested all of RAM modules and result works perfectly !! .... all of three mainboards have the same identical problem!!
Now i use all my 3 PCs with "B" bios and works perfectly, because "A" bios hangs always with code 55 and with Dr. mos alarm led on, i try to update and downgrade "A" bios ... nothing to do ... "A" bios don't work anymore.
    Any idea?

Obviously, there is 'something' that has caused BIOS corruption in all 3 mainboards A chips. Whatever that 'something' is, it may happen to the backup B chips as well. Recommend to concentrate on finding this 'something', what the common denominator is, and restoring BIOS chips A before the mainboards may become expensive paperweights. A shop with an SPI flash programmer device can fix the broken BIOS chips if not comfortable with doing the recovery procedure yourself.
Hi, yes i agree,  In fact, my fear is to have, in a while, these mainboard totally unusable!  ..... i think that primary bios is physically damaged or i hope, software damaged, I would try to recover it,  if it's only a software problem (i hope so) ... do you know a procedure to completely erase cleanly that reflash the primary bios? i try to use dos MSI flash utility with "/p /b /n" options .. no success to restore A bios ... same story ... error 55 and DR-mos alarm led on.

  • Network Configuration Window Freezes When USB NDIS Internet Connection Sharing and Ethernet Port Are Used Simultaneously

    Current Setup:
Asrock Extreme 4 Z77 mobo with built-in Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet.  Windows 8 Pro. Intel i5-3570k (using onboard Intel 4000 HD Graphics).  RAID0- 2 OCZ Vertex 4's.
I will refer to this setup as my tower.
The Ethernet port works fine by itself.  When I use wired tethering with my Android phone (Droid 4 running on 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich), it works fine when nothing is connected into the Ethernet port in the mobo.
The issue arises when I try to connect both simultaneously.  The network configuration window in windows basically freezes and I cannot really navigate it without a ~60 second delay at best.
I would like to be able to accept the internet from my Android via a USB tether and either bridge the connection or use the internet connection sharing service to route traffic through the unused Ethernet port on the mobo (either to another computer/xbox
or more desirably a switch/router to spread to the entire home network).  I have extensively researched the issue of Windows 8 become slow and unresponsive when I attempt to do this and I have not found anyone with the exact problem.  I am able to
do both the MAC bridge miniport (bridge 2 connections) and Internet Connection Sharing though a Windows Vista (home premium) Laptop I have. The difference between the laptop and the tower I am try to do this on is the laptop has a WIFI and Ethernet connection
while the tower only has the on-board Ethernet.
Do I have all the necessary equipment to accomplish this, or do I need to buy a PCIe WIFI card?  If so could I get away with just getting a USB WIFI dongle?
Any help would be very appreciated.

I had the same problem and came here by searching.
Per Rosengren's method solved the problem, but he didn't say how to do it, so I'll try to explain step-by-step for anyone that may venture here.
Open Device Manager (right click on Computer > Manage > on the left side, under System Tools choose Device Manager)
Choose the problematic device in Network Adapters (for me it's called HTC Remote NDIS based device)
Right click on it and choose Update Driver Software...
Click Browse my computer for driver software
Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers
Uncheck the box Show compatible hardware
For the manufacturer, choose Microsoft Corporation
Now you will have two options:
    - Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device
    - Remote NDIS Compatible Device
I chose the second one and it solved the problem, but if it doesn't work you could try the other one. In my case, the driver that was being used was neither of these, but a special driver from Android SDK ADT bundle.
Pick one and click Next. If a dialog comes up, confirm by clicking Yes.
Wait a few seconds for the connection to restart. If it doesn't work, try disabling and reenabling USB tethering on the phone, or reconnect the USB cable.
I should also note that I'm using a custom Android ROM on HTC Wildfire S (unofficial Cyanogenmod). If you have a stock ROM with HTC Sense, maybe this method may not work and you'll need a proprietary HTC driver.

    Hi Rukbat
    Thanks for your response.
    > A1: There isn't any limitation within the OS.
    > Your limitations are from the hardware of the system.
Indeed, I did not think there would be a limit from within the OS. I have had a research sun machine with some 12+1 ports, an ol'Ultra-10 actually. i got upto that many ports by using three qfe's and there is one port already on the system (hme0)
    >If you have too much packet traffic for your cpu modules
    > and RAM, you'll have delays, data corruption, or even

one accepts that there would be delays - naturally. but I am not sure why there would be data corruption or even panics. that to me sounds very very serious.
the ultra-10 seems to be working ok; I never saw it crash once. But I must confess that the traffic load is not THAT high.

erm erm I would say that is pretty low, but I would not call myself an expert on this really.
    > I'm sure there is a similar suggestion for QGE's and fast

i would like to think that one modern cpu should be ok for about 10 ports with reasonable traffic load. I am judging this by the old Ultra-10 I have built, beside which I have no supporting evidence.
    > A2: There are no Sun-qualified adapters with more than

    i am surprised at that.

    yes I agree
    > Besides, there is only so much room on the card's

I take your point about the physical space on the backplate. I have found one company that is knocking up 6-port devices, and from what I gather, that is as much as one is gonna get.

that is a good hint actually. that is the high-end range I think.
in any case, I think the sort of machine I would be looking for is in sun's mid-range of servers. something like a V440, which has 6 PCI slots for use. I could potentially have (6x6)+2=38 ports. It is also capable of taking four 1.593-GHz UltraSPARC IIIi processors, and my gut feeling is that the four processors will be ok to support 38 ports.
I am still open to take advice of course. Indeed I would very much appreaciate further thoughts!

  • Bridge between airport card and ethernet port

My son wants to access the internet through the ethernet port to connect his xbox 360. My airport extreme base station is upstairs and my powermac g5 is in the basement and connects to the internet through the airport network (airport extreme card to base station). One of his friends says he can configure a bridge between his wireless card and his ethernet port on his windows computer and was trying to do it on my mac. Can a bridge be configured between the airport extreme card and the ethernet port on the g5 which will allow an ethernet device to connect to the internet? Any advice will greatly appreciated. Thank you.
    Larry

I have used an external ethernet bridge in the past. What I am wondering is: How can the airport card be configured to create a bridge to the ethernet port on the computer, so the game console could be connected to the back of the g5 with an ethernet cable and then connected to the tv with a/v cables. Do I have to use some external device to provide an internet connection to the game console or is there some way to share the connection from the airport card to the ethernet port?

OK, then you need a DSL modem which will have a phone connection coming in, and an ethernet (or if you're unlucky, USB) connection coming out. Unfortunately, as you've found, the Time Capsule doesn't have a built-in DSL modem. Did your DSL provider not supply you with one - they normally do?

  • Z77A-GD65 mobo PCIe speed question

This motherboard has 3 PCIe x16 slots and if there's a GPU in the first 2 slots they're supposed to both be x8 speed. GPU-Z reports the first slot x8, but the second slot only x4 speed. Latest BIOS and chipset drivers installed, on WIN 8.1 64 system. The CPU is only an i3-3240, which I just realized today only supports PCIe 2.0, but the mobo is still supposed to support both slots at x8 under PCIe 2.0.  I've attached a PDF with the CPU-Z and GPU-Z info. Is GPU-Z correct, mobo not support advertised specs or other?
Yes, GPUs are different, not using SLI. This system is used for running distributed computing apps, including CUDA and OpenCL on the GPUs. x8 vs x4 speed makes a difference with these apps.
