Z77A-GD65 sound update now stops sound

Hey all!
I just did a update yesterday on the sound drivers for the MB and now (no problem before the update) a little now and then (a few minutes between occurrences) the sound just stops for a second or 2....
Anyone else with these issues and any possible workaround or known cause of the issue? (tried reinstalling the drivers btw)

sadly its still happening, could the problem be caused by something as silly as the multi-bios switch?
I wonder since I did (stupid me) let LU5 do a update on all components (including BIOS) and that pretty much bricked my BIOS, I can boot into linux with it but GRUB states that it cannot find the windows anymore. I flipped the switch to B and started computer, it works to boot windows in B.
To make things more annoying is that I tried to do the recovery of A with the B (as I understand thats how its supposed to work anyway) but after its done it reboots faster then I can flip the switch back to A (as it wants me to) and if I at a later point then that reboot in A its still in the updated borked version of the BIOS that wont let me boot into windows...
EDIT: also seems that the problem happens more often the more programs with sounds that are active at one point (just noticed). And it kinda becomes silly when Im running (like I usually do and did before the LU5 update it worked fine) teamspeak 3, foobar2000 and a game.

  • Z77a-gd65 sound interference using uefi

    Good Morning all,
I have today installed windows 8 on my z77a-gd65 board using windows 8 fast boot uefi features in the bios. Everything is great apart from one thing - I have terrible interference on my speakers plugged in to the green port on the back of the motherboard.
I have reinstalled windows 8 without using windows 8 fast boot uefi and the problem dissapears.
I have tried to use spread spectrum and this does not help.
This sound interference is when using the mouse also and when scrolling.
    Setup -
    z77a-gd65 bios 10.8
    intel celeron g540
    onboard graphics
    samsung ssd 840 120gb
    8gb ddr3

Did you have this issue with a previous windows installation?
Have you tried uninstalling the drivers while in safe mode then re-installing the most recent from here:

  • Z77A-GD65 Sound buzzing.

    Hello,
I've bought Z77A-GD65 mobo some days ago.
After installing it in my case with a Intel i5 2500 cpu, XFX HD6870 Dual fan gpu and 8gb of kingston ram (1333MHz)
I installed a new version of windows 7, installed the newest bios version, chipset driver ect.
After all that I enabled OC genie, and played some bf3.
I noticed that I hear a little buzz (Idk how to call it exactly) when I'm playing.. and not only with bf3, it's mostly when I'm playing heavy games and my PC is under some stress.
Without playing anything, and just browsing the internet the buzz is gone.
It's not only my headphones, when I'm playing heavy games my microphone also has a buzz.
I really don't know how to fix it.. I tried re-installing the newest audio driver, flashed mobo with the newest bios but nothing seem to work.
Hope some of you can help me figure it out.
    EDIT:
I tried running Prime95 to stress my CPU and see if it would give a buzz sound, but it didn't.
So it seems I only have the buzz when I'm playing games like BF3, GTA IV ect.
    Thanks in advance,
    Pepie.

Are you talking about a buzzing or hissing coming from inside the computer case, or from your speakers? If from inside the case, it could be the voltage regulators on your video card making the noise. Some cards do it worse than others, even brand new. It could also be your power supply.
If it's coming out of your speakers, then it's probably a grounding issue, like there is a solder joint touching the metal case. Not all cases play nice with all motherboards--I had one Antec case where I had to place a small strip of electrical tape at the backplane in order to prevent solder joints from touching parts of the case, and this happened to be the solder joints for the onboard sound which was creating a real nasty whine.

  • [Z77A-GD65] Live Update 5 Not Offering All Downloads

    Hi
I'm using the latest Live Update 5 (5.0.086) on a new build using W8RP.
I noticed though that it doesn't offer all the things that I would have thought it would, when comparing to the list available for my mb on MSI's website.
    For example, I don't get offered;
    Utilities:
    OTP Service
Network Genie (I can understand this one, as I don't have Realtek LAN)
    Drivers:
    Lucid Virtu MVP
    Asmedia SATA
    Intel Rapid Start Technology
    Intel Smart Connect Technology
    Intel USB3
I also notice that Intel VGA & Chipset drivers were updated yesterday according to the MSI mb download page but how long does it take for these to show up in Live Update 5 please?
Also could someone explain what OTP Service utility does please? I know it stands for Over Thermal Protection but does it present any information to the user in the OS? I see it says on the downloads page about having Control Center 2.2.056 or above, so does it provide additional detail within Control Center?

Also, if you ever need to flash your bios, use the forum tool, it is more relialbe than other methods.

  • Z77A-GD65 Problems with Ethernet (Intel 82579V) Code 10 and 55 error

it is just a day with disaster. I bought Z77A-GD65 yesterday, and now it almost driver me crazy , i have two most famous problem of the board ,the CODE10 and ERROR 55!!!
after i bought this board to home ,i spend few hour to figure out the reason why the system can not be booted.
the DIMM SLOT 3&4 of my board is malfunction,no matter what combination i use (1&3,2&3, 3&4...etc),but it works for 1 and 2(i have 4 ram sticks, all of them is fine)
i do upgrade to BIOS 10.5(thx god ,i have two computer ,otherwise i cant even do it because of following issue)
after i solve the problem by only plug in 2 ram (DIMM1&2), succeed to boot up, a new problem occurred to me ,the CODE10!
latest driver , clean system install ,cmos cleaned, does not help.
i have read this thread for code10
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=158591.msg1167303#msg1167303
    and  for error55
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=158224.0
it seems the best way to solve it is RMA.
I notice that there is an Authorized Motherboard Repair Center (East Coast):
    361 Alden Road
    Markham, Ontario, L3R 3L
i live in Toronto, can i just go there and give the board to them  to fix it or i can only mail it?
If i need to mail it ,what should i do?

Code 10 means the device cannot start. You have the right driver for the Intel 82579V is shorted by either a motherboard screw or a raiser under it. The ethernet adapter has lights which light up id driver is installed (even though code 10 is in effect).
Solution: Remove 1 or 2 motherboard screws and turn the pc on. Repeat until you find out which screw caused the issue. For me it was the screw closest to the ethernet controller.
The wa i fixed it was I was used a plastic washer and I was still able to have the motherboard screw in and at the same time not get code 10 anymore and my Intel 82579V worked fine since.

  • Z77A-GD65 Wont Boot Without Clearing CMOS. Gets Error 32.

    Hi!
    I just switched GPU from 2x 7950 to 980.
I cleared drivers etc etc and was powering down my pc for the replacement. took out the cards and put in the 980.
When i later was trying to boot, i got debug error 32, which is early cpu initialization. So i checked all the cables and tried again. Same thing.
Took everything out and reinserted it again. Same error. even tried the to take out each ram to see. Still nothing.
I later cleared cmos and the computer booted. but then when i restart i doesnt boot until power everything down and clear cmos again.
Do you guys have any idea?
    My specs are
    Z77A-GD65
2500k CPU (Now after clearing CMOS at stock speed)
    Corsair Vengance 2x4GB RAM
    850W Bronze psu

Tryreplacing battery. Also could try to run it with single Ram stick and outside of the case.
I Couldn't wait so i went to town and bought me a battery, didn't change anything.
I've tried running a single RAM in each slot, just to try. no change there. Still error 32.
I've also test it outside the case now and still no difference.
Otherwise i've noticed i can boot if i press the reset button exact when debug code 55 shows. It's really weird. doing this way all bios settings are still there and i can test my pc with OC. I've played Dying Light on it this way with no problem at all. except this annoying code 32 who reappers everytime i restart my computer and hinders it to boot...
EDIT: Also sometimes (very rare), it starts at first boot.

I wanted to have the SSDs in RAID0 with Win7 and the games on it, then a volume on the 2TB that the RAID backs up to, with the remaining 1.5TB just free storage space in another volume.  I couldn't get raid past Win7's Where Do You Want To Install screen during installation, so I ended up installing the OS on just one SSD.  I figured I'd backup the functioning OS to the 2TB then rebuild the RAID array and copy the OS back onto it.
The system had been up an running for a full day, being updated left and right nonstop, several big games put in, etc etc, everything was running fine until I decided to run MSI Live Update and started pumping in updates.  Constant errors as I went along, but generally it'd just skip to the next installation attempt.  When it got down to updating the BIOS and did it's DOS injection thing, it for forcefully shut down the PC, restarted, did Post, flashed the BIOS wallpaper, restarted again, Posted, no BIOS wallpaper, just endless "Missing Operating System".  Walked away, went to bed, back up and at it for a few minutes (Will be back tonight for however long it takes to get it fixed).  I switched the BIOS switch over, no dice.  Feels like it's a BIOS "OS" that's gone, and that a BIOS reset/flash is in order or something, but I've never done these things.
Thanks in advance for any rendered assistance that leads to resolution.

The SSDs are definitely hooked up where they're supposed to go; the motherboard had a little sticker n' everything for where the two SSD dedicated SATA 6.0gbps ports were :P  AND my case has 2 specific slots for SSDs which don't use the hotswap electronics PCB passthrough like the other 4 bays, which is where the 2T is installed.  I was going to take the 2TB out and hook it up normally and see if that changed the speeds, but I'm leaning towards wishful thinking.  Did I mention I went and made several volumes with different file cluster sizes to test and see if that was the issue?  Alas, all were borked.  It still confuses me though because every once n' awhile it'd do massive burst speeds the way it's supposed to.
As far as I can recall I'm using up to date BIOS, the last one or two.  One BIOS switch is set for the last BIOS, the other switch is a step back devoid of the Windows 8 stuff.  I believe I have all the drivers up to date as well.  Intel 335's are literally brand new, mine hadn't been more than 3 weeks old off the production line when I received them; IE, they should pretty much have the latest firmware on them which spares me the risk of destroying something precious
I MIGHT have a SATA external enclosure around here somewhere, if so, the 2TB could go in that for additional testing until I figure out where it's sustaining speeds of 2-10MB vs 100-150MB/second.
Meanwhile, the good news is that the system has been fully operational and hella stable.  I hadn't slept in almost 3 days, playing and installing stuff nonstop.  The system continues to run cooler (32c@stock CPU speed) as the thermal paste sets in, the knocking sound of the fan in the PSU has gone away upon me reawakening a bit ago, and amazingly, this massive system (with EIGHT fans) draws only 60-65 watts while desktopping.  That's just astounding

  • Z77A-GD65 Win7 64bit boot fail followingMSI Live Update 5 Firmware update

    Hi,
For some reason I decided to have a go with MSI Live Update 5 auto update today (having not used it previously in the 1.5years I've owned this system.
Running in Win 7 64 bit, it performed an 'update' and then the system completely crashed (as in turned off and on again). On reboot the system only went as far as the BIOS flash screen.
It failed to boot form the SSD boot drive and a message saying "Reboot with Proper Boot Drive".
I booted into BIOS (version  10.11) and the boot drive is still recognised.
I tried a reboot and the same error.
I tried to boot backup within BIOS and saw a message flash that ended with "Failed to initialize MSI-X".
None of the MSI applications work, it doesn't boot into Windows and I'm stuck.
Can anyone suggest how I might be able to get Windows back and running without having to do a full reinstall? I can't seem to get the backup software to work now so I'm a bit stuck. If I try and do a full flash of the drive and start again, will it fix the issue or is the problem with the motherboard/bios setup?
Has anyone else had this problem?
    System spec:
    MSI Z77A-GD65
    Intel i7-3770k 3.5Ghz
    Corsair Vengeance LP 8GB RAM
    Win7 64Bit

    YES
OK, so I found a few people on Tom's Hardware message board that seem to have the same issue with this latest BIOS update from MSI so at least it's not just me.
    I reset CMOS
    I set BIOS to default
I downloaded the BIOS ME from an older version 10.8 of BIOS that I knew worked fine (from another computer)
    Flashed BIOS with USB
Booted the system with Win7 64 OEM CD
    Selected Repair Mode
    Let it do its thing
I'm back in business from where I left off.
Won't be touching the BIOS update again unless I can be absolutely sure its going to be stable on my MB.
    RE: Legacy and UEFI
After installing 10.11, it defaulted to UEFI only but I changed the setting to Legacy and UEFI. It didn't fix the issue though.
I've rolled back, it works again so I'm happy other than the fact I've lost almost a full day of work over it.
    Cheers xmad

Unknown "source"?  Do you mean unknown "error" followed by a number?

Follow the instructions in the article.  When you connect your phone again, you may have to press both the home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo reappears, then continue pressing the home button until iTunes detects the phone in recovery mode.

  • Cannot update Bios through Live Update (Z77A-GD65)

I've been trying to update the Bios from A.00 to A.B0.  I've tried it a few times but when I scan for updates it will always say that my current Bios is A.00 and the online version is A.B0.  I'm trying to get this update in the hope that it will fix my problem installing my new Graphic Card.

Don't use LiveUpdate! If it tries updating your bios you have a high chance of bricking the board. Download bios versions from here or the product site and manually flash (and never in Windows).
    >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
Download the compressed archive to your desktop but do not decompress.
Select option 1 of the forum flash tool and point the tool an the compressed archive then follow the direction. After booting from the prepared USB stick afterwards it will flash your bios and ME extension.
Once complete you will need to download and re-install the latest version of the Intel Management Engine Drivers.
