Z77MA G-45 Usb audio issues.

I recently purchased an MSI Z77MA G-45 motherboard for recording music. I have ran into issues from the start. The usb ports appear to be causing crackling and popping whenever I plug in my M-audio fast track Usb or my Focusrite Saffire 2i2. I have the latest drivers for everything installed. I have the latest bios v1.8. Every other bsb device seems to perform fine. I have both of these usb audio devices working properly on my older core 2 duo setup with no problems. My power supply is in fine working condition and the voltage does not fluctuate when these devices are running. I have tried disabling HPET, Turbo Boost Etc, with no luck.
I began to think that it was the motherboard so I sent it in for RMA twice. The first time it was "repaired" it was sent to me unable to boot. The second time it was sent back it still ceases to function with these devices. The other computer components are fine. I believe the usb ports are defective. Does anyone have any advice? I would rather have a new motherboard returned if I have to RMA it again, or would prefer a refund. I have only had it about three months. It unfortunately passed the refund time with the original company I bought it from.

Ah ok, try updating to the most recent beta bios:
>>Beta BIOSes<<
>>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
Download the latest file to your desktop but don't decompress.
Then use option 1 of the flash tool and let the tool prepare you flash drive for flashing.
Then boot to the flash drive and follow the on screen direction.
Once complete you will need to re-install the ME drivers from Intel Downloads:

  • USB Audio issues - Philips SpeechMike - Fusion v3.1.2 on 10.6.6

    Hello all.
Sorry, I know this is a cross-post on the VMware Fusion forums too... but the issue seems to be Apple related based on the 10.6.3 bugfix.
I am at a loss here and hope someone has a few pointers.
We use the Philips speechmike devices for dictation in windows via dragon. Previously we were running XP pro sp3 but are now installing Win7 pro. As part of this, we have upgraded to 10.6.6 and our fusion to v3.1.2.
Since this point, our speechmikes are not working properly under either the XP or Win7 machines.
Once the device is attached, whatever we do first (playback or record) is what the device will do. For example, if we plug it in and the 'ta-da' audio plays for a new USB device, the speechmike will only play audio and the mic will not work. If we disable playback by muting the audio output, disconnect and reconnect the speechmike, we can now record but attempts to unmute and playback audio throw errors.
This behavior is very similar to that of an IRQ conflict with the USB device...
I know about the USB problem that existed from 10.6.0 - 10.6.3, but the scratchyness in the playback audio is lightyears better than this.
FYI... We can't use the audio device under Mac OS since the control buttons on the speechmike will not translate through to the Windows OS. These are a requirement.
    Help please!
    Thanks in advance. -Peter.

  • Two Thunderbolt Displaysand USB Audio Issue

I have a brand spanking new Macbook Pro 15" Retina (2.7 Ghz, 16GB RAM, discrete graphics chip).  I also have two thunderbolt displays, one is about a year and a half old, the other is pretty new.
I also use an Apogee Duet 2 USB sound card.
If I plug the USB soundcard into my Thunderbolt USB, after a few minutes the audio is all distorted.  I've so far resorted to using a USB port on the MBP itself, which fixes the issue.
Is there a "Best practices" guide for how to connect up these displays?  I currently have them daisy chained, so I have just the two cables going into my Mac which I wanted.  Is there a better way to hook this up for reliability sake?

I have this exact same issue.  I wish there was a fix but I have been looking for a while.  Apple must know about it!

  • Are USB audio interface issues on iMac Haswell resolved?

    HI,
i just ordered a 27 inch iMac, maxed out with a 1TB SSD.
I noticed the imac doesn't have an audio in jack and figured i'd shop for a good USB Audio Interface.
But then i came across all these USB audio interface issues on the new iMac.
This is incredible to me because iMacs are often used by creative people and lots of musicians.
For me audio is VERY important. I record music and i record sound for animation and video.
Apple thus far seemed to be avoiding the topics and issues at hand.
Are the USB audio issues resolved? What was resolved? What was the problem (Maverick? Fusion Drive)?
Is it wise to choose for a Thunderbolt Interface? Which one?
Any help would be hugely appreciated.
Especcialy since it seems such a wide spread problem.
    Thanx

doubt it would be a general issue
usb is a universal serial bus it always require a driver for anything
and the driver of one external audio device would act different then the driver from another external audio device
so it would be very unlikely that an external audio card using a cirrus logic audio chip would cause the same issues with the imac as one with a realtek or soundblaster audio chip
not that there could not be issues with all of them but not likely that they would suffer from the same issue

  • Audio stutters when under CPU load, USB sound issue?

ACD 27" connected to a PC via displayport/mini displayport adapter. When playing music while doing CPU intensive tasks, the audio instantly stutters, cuts out, grumbles, etc. This suggest my PC is simply not powerful enough however that's not the case (specs below).
    What i've determined.
    1. This only happens when using the apple display for audio.
    2. When speakers/headphones are plugged in to the motherboard, everything works great.
    3. This happens with all audio applications. itunes, vlc, winamp, etc.
The display uses its built in USB cable for audio, right? I'm thinking it's gotta be some typ of driver issue for USB audio. However I've updated all drivers so I'm stumped there.

  • L305SD-S5874 Audio recording issues to USB Audio Interface

I am hearing snaps and pops recording audio through a USB audio interface attached to my laptop.I am using an external Hard Disk connected to a card buss e sata interface. Audio plays fine but snaps and pops are heard when
recording or even when an input channel is selected but idle.I have the latest drivers installed.People in other forums are saying that these problems  are due to my using a " cheap" laptop with poor IRQ sharing implementation in the chipset. Is anyone using a similar computer this way with no problems ? I have recorded audio for years to much less powered computers with good results.

Sounds like you're listening to the same source (the X6) being played twice.
Could be you are hearing  MIDI thru playback as well as Logic's "Software Monitoring" you must also be enabling a MIDI track for recording. If you unhook the MIDI connection from the X6 does the hollow sound go away.
What Audio interface are you using? The other possibility is your Audio Interface has "Direct Monitoring" this allows you to monitor the audio inputs before it goes into the computer. Having Logic's Software Monitoring enable along with Direct Monitoring would also produce the hollow sound.
I suggest the thorough reading of the manual so you understand what all the preferences do. Most of the time it is better to read and understand/experiment on your own. It's one thing to be shown something another to figure it out for yourself.
Here's a Link to all of the Preferences/Audio settings.

  • External USB Audio cards major issue

    HI,
I bought 2 USB audio cards to test, one the Tascam US-122L via usb2.0 and another one the audiobox USB, (usb2.0)  (latest driver installed too) Both on 2 HP laptop, one on DV5-1225ca (latest bios) and hp TX1218 when playing MP3 or any music software tools, static sound and stutters, this is with Vista 32 bit SP1. First I bought the tascam then return it, I tought it was the cards, but I bought a new one and the same problem even on 2 different laptop!

hi i just like to say i had a similar fault though i would be surprised if it causing yours, but you never know,my fault was my laptop lid, [9 months old] it contains the mic ,and when the lid was in a certain angle crackles could be heard worse when i had my external sound card in, it was a faulty membrane [ lid to body] easily missed by engineer because it was the same angle all the time it happened, good luck, PS you English is very good

  • Bootcamp 3.1 and imac windows 7 64bit update not installing. Audio issues!

After many days of work getting the windows 7 working in bootcamp in my imac 27 (still with audio issues) I eagerly awaited the bootcamp update and imac updates.
    Neither will install.
Then I find that according to tech support as of now I have to reinstall Windows 7 again for the updates to work!
It took me 5 full 8 hours days to get all my scientific programs installed and working, now I find I can't even simply update the drivers I need. I don't want to reinstall.
    My only issues are audio.
    Here they are:
    1) The headset jack works fine on the Mac side, but in Windows 7, it causes the i7 intel CPU to go crazy. There is no CPU spike on the mac side.
    2) The headset jack in the imac is a trrs jack. The same as in the iphone, a tri-band jack that has three bands, two audio out channels and one mic in channel. A trrs headset works fine on the mac side with using the headset mic (as in iphone) rather than the built in mic. (this provides much better quality for sound recording). I don't want to use a usb mike.
In Windows 7 the mic part of the trrs headset does not work.
    3) In Windows 7 when going into audio devices recording, no audio mixer shows up, so when I do video or audio screen capture the only way to capture the sound is through the speakers and then back through the imac built in mic, rather than directly through the unit. (terrible sound quality) On the mac side the mixer element works fine.
Now I find from other imac users that even the new updates for the imac on windows 7 don't address and fix the audio issues. I am sure not going to go through 5 more days work only to find the audio issues still don't work.
I need these audio aspects to work properly though!
I have tried to get drivers for the cirrus logic audio card, but guess what there are none available and cirrus logic doesn't even recognize the board or offer drivers.
I have many windows programs I must have for my scientific research!I bought the top of the line Imac with all the bells and whistles because Apple promised that the machine could run Windows 7 in bootcamp natively!
It doesn't. This has been a nightmare of problems.
Is Apple going to step up to the plate and make good on their promises?
Does any one have a fix for any of the audio issues, or know how to install the new drivers without a complete reinstall of Windows?
Installing a few sound drivers and software should not require a complete reinstall. Getting the proper drivers for the headset jack audio in and audio out jack should be the most basic of fixes. Making the audio mixer work should be elementary.
If you are an Apple tech person or an Apple user that can help on these issues, please do!
    Thanks, Dr. Duke

PS I will post this under Imac windows 7 updates without a reinstall and under
    imac Sound issues.

On another thread a few people have responded saying that their imac has the same situation, the cpu is going crazy and the imac gets hot with headphones or speakers plugged in. But this doesn't happen in the mac side.
If you have an late 2009 imac and don't have these audio issues, let us hear from you. If you don't, lay out the problem here.
Here is my last two cents in to the inquiry.
Not only does the cpu run crazy but the imac 27 gets very, very hot. Since I unplugged the headphones, it runs much, much cooler.
Certainly, some Mac engineers should take care of this problem, it seems it is universal on all the imac 27's and from what I gather, the smaller screened cousins too.
Also, we certainly want a stereo mix option for audio in or out, or what is called "what you hear" or wave out. Imac is supposed to be much geared to multimedia apps.
Finally, the mic jack part of the trrs set up MUST be fixed! A lot of manufacturers are going to headset combo jacks as they call them, mic in and stereo out on the same tribanded plug. But, the old single jack for mic in and single jack for stereo out are two tiny parts of the hardware and super inexpensive for the manufacturer. Why in the **** to go to the "advanced" triplug if the **** thing doesn't work.
Mac has a great reputation. I hope they remedy these problems right away.
Anyone whose imac 27 or 24 whose headset plug is working correctly. Let us know! I don't think anyone's is, but I think that few people understand that their cpu is running so much faster with the plug in, plus few even understand the combo jack and the triband, or trrs audio jack! Out of 4 audio technicians I talked to, not one of them knew what a trrs jack was or that you even have a mic in jack as part of the headset jack!
When I told one senior that it worked on the Mac side, he didn't believe for a while, thought my sound might be recorded from the onboard mic, but I proved it to him by tapping iaudibly on my iphone mic headset and and it showing up in garage band clearly and listening to big difference in audio.
As for a usb audio adapter, I am in a neon light environment and find that those adapters are more sensitive to electrical interference. Besides I want to use the headset jack as it was meant to be used!
    Thats it.
Again, if anyone using an imac 27 and windows 7 64 or 32 doesnt have these problems, let us know! We are all anxious for a fix!
    Best to all!

  • USB-Audio does not work correct on T430/T530

    Hi all!
I'm owner of a T430 and a T530. Both are new PCs where I have installed Windows XP. The reason for XP is that I own older software and hardware, which is not supported on Windows 7. But it works fine and I have no reason to change hard- and software as long it fulfills my requirements! And Windows XP runs fine and fast on the T430 and T530.
Only problem is an EgoSys USB Audio interdace U2A. It is possible to install and run it, but there is a problem in the communication between operating panel and the hardware. When I move the slider for the level, the level jumps instead a smooth increase of the level, which means not alle values of the slider are transferred to the hardware. There is a similar behaviour with checkboxes: there are states of the U2A which are indicaed with LEDs. When I change the checkbox, sometimes the LED changes, sometimes not. This errors happen very frequently but not reproducable.
I tried several settings in the BIOS, like disabling one CPU, hyperthreading, USB3 etc. I tried the U2a also on a fresh XP-intallation without other software, but all without success, the behaviour of the U2A is always the same!
I also tested with an ExpressCard with USB-port from LogiLink, but this card does not recognize the U2A at all.
Up to now I have used the U2A on many different PCs without problems. What might be the reason that it does not work on an ThinkPad? Up to now I was very satified with the U2A and I would not like to replace it!
    regards

  • My iPhone 5 is suddenly having audio issues through the headphone jack.

So this is a strange situation, and I'll try to explain in depth so that someone might be able to suggest a solution. As reference, I have an iPhone 5 that I purchased in late-February. I've had every other model of iPhone except for the first iPhone, so I am pretty familiar with the device. I used to be on AT&T, and switched to Verizon when I upgraded to the iPhone 5.
Two days ago, I was on a six hour road-trip, and I'd been playing my music like normal through my car's auxillary cable. After stopping for lunch, I went to plug my music again, but once the music started to play, I realized that only the drums were playing at normal levels while the vocals were very, very soft. I switched through a few different songs, and realized that all the songs were being played at different levels; sometimes the backup vocals were normal levels while the instrumentation and lead vocals were quiet, or vice versa. I decided to plug my iPhone in to charge, and when I did this, the audio levels were all normal. However, the iPhone was NOT charging. I removed the charger, and the audio went back to being weak and distorted. I went back and forth at this for a bit, trying to figure out what was going on.
Since then and after some testing, I realize that my iPhone will now only charge anywhere EXCEPT in the car charger (I simply use my USB cable that came with my iPhone and plug it into the power adapter I have in the car). This morning, I tested the audio in my home speaker system, and I had the same audio issues. Only half the song's tracks would be at normal audio levels, while the other half would be at a very quiet, almost nonexistent level. I tried plugging my charger into the phone to see if that'd make a difference, but instead of the audio going back to normal like it does in the car, the music stopped and there was just crackling and very noisy distortion sounds.
I'm super confused and not sure what to do. This has never happened to me with any of my iPhones. I am updating my software right now, and am hoping that that may help somehow. Otherwise, I'm at a loss. Any suggestions as to what I should do would be greatly appreciated!

Do the new iMacs have digital audio out through the headphone jack?
    Yes.

  • Macbook not (completely) detecting USB audio device

Here's what I'm doing. I am ripping my cassette collection using a tape deck, a Roxio video capture device (VHS to DVD), Soundflower, and Adobe Audition. Everything was working fine. I finished a tape and unplugged the USB device to make room for my headphones so I could check the file I created. After doing this, OS X stopped detecting the USB device. Here's what I can tell you:
It no longer appears as an input device under System Preferences > Sound.
If I fire up the Easy VHS to DVD Capture software it's clear the software is getting audio (the faux LED meters are responding to the audio coming from the tape deck) - just can't hear anything!
Adobe Audition was listing the device as "USB 2861 (Not Working)" right after this issue. As soon as I changed the input in Audition, this entry completely disappeared. (For those unfamiliar with audio applications, it's simply looking at the inputs set up in the OS.)
Under About This Mac > More Info > System Report > USB, I see the USB 2861 device.
I'm at a loss. So you can see that in some way the device is being detected, but the OS doesn't see it, which means I'm effectively dead in the water. I've tried a number of things; rebooting, an SMC reset (I think that's what it was called), physically removing and reconnecting the device both the while the machine was on/off/after reboot.

    Problem Solved!
It turned out to be a combination of the usb cable and the OTG USB hub.  On my desktop the iBaso was cable specific as to the device being recognized.  When I tried the working cable witht the OTG hub on the Stream 7 it failed as usual.  But when I tried the cheap monoprice adapter it worked.
The usb audio solves the horrible sound problem with the Stream 7 for anybody who is lookiing for a Fix.
The OTG hub works with a mouse and  a mSata drive perfectly but not with the iBAso DAC.
Thanks to everyone who replied for keeping me trying.

  • Noises on external USB audio interface (Yamaha MW12) with Snow Leopard

    Hi there,
I got an issue with strong noises (kind of distortion) while playing all kind of music/sounds ( itunes/Reason/Cubase) via an external USB audio device (Yamaha MW12 mixer).
    Some important facts:
+ This had not been from the very first beginning of changing to snow leopard
+ but never appeared on "leopard"
+ Yamaha mixer is still working fine with my MS-windows computer
+ latest Asio driver by Yamaha is not helping.
+ internal audio of my Mac Book Pro is working fine.
As this issue just appears 2 days before, without any change or installation on my system, I really wonder, what could be happen. As Yamaha mixer is still working fine with other computer, I expect some driver in MacOS to be the problem (as internal audio HW is working fine).
Does anybody else, know, what to do? (before I change back to MacOS 10.5)
Has anybody else have seen a similar issue?
    Thanks for helping in advance.
    Merry christmas,

    Hi,
    just one addon.
+ Changed USB ports on MacBook and it was fine on the second used.
+ Nevertheless, noise remains on the originaly used port
+ all other connected devices as mouse and midi interface are fully functional on both ports
It still looks like a driver issue. Nevertheless, could it be a hardware issue with the USB port in my MacBook then? Even if all other tried devices are functional?
    cheers, Mat
