  • Major Freezing and Power off problems.

So this is going to be kind of a long post, but if there is anyone out there who knows what the **** I can do to solve this issue I would really appreciate it. I bought an 8gb iPhone when they were first released last summer. Just 2 days ago the phone started to power itself off if it had been in sleep mode for more than a few minutes. I tried everything in the book (reset, reset settings, restore, etc.) Nothing helped. I went to an apple store and since the genius there was able to reproduce the issue they just gave me a brand new phone right there. Awesome right?! Wrong! After syncing the new phone with iTunes I am now having even worse issues. The brand new phone powers off in the middle of calls and other apps. And sometimes the phone will freeze completely. I tried everything in the book again. Finally I did a restore, and this time tried erasing all media content (music, photos, videos.) This seemed to do the trick as I didn't have a problem all night and pretty much all day. But just about 15 minutes ago the same problems started again! I'm losing my mind over this! Please help!

It was taken out of a white box at the store. On the side of the box there was a label that said "Replacement 8GB iPhone."
You probably got a bad refurbished unit. It happens. If they rebuilt a unit with an intermittent problem, and they don't catch it during testing, the next guys going to have a problem. I repaired a lot of RCA XL-100 solid state modular TV sets in the 70s. Every module we got from RCA was rebuilt. I would say we had problems with about 10% of them. They would work out of the box, but usually would act up after they got warm.

When you plug it in to iTunes does it show up under devices? Try restoring it. That's the best thing you can do if you're out of warrenty

  • After Sleep, and power off, Lion Crash Totaly! iMac core i5 2011

After Sleep, and power off, Lion Crash Totaly!
    I`'ve buy a iMac core i5, July 15 2011, 500gb, 4gb (upgraded to 8gb Ram).
Transf my MBP with Snow at first iMac power on, after tranfer Snow, I buy the Lion, install and use until 2 weeks. After the first Sleep, turn Lion power off to change place. When power on, the Lion was Crashed the computer in some way that was impossible to recover or do anything. even go back the timemachine with Lion or Snow, trey clean PRAM, DVD Boot, nothing works.
So, I put a Ubuntu LiveCD, REMOVE COMPLETE THE GUID of iMac Disk, also clean the PRAM (cmd+opt+ P + R during boot), so, the iMac was Clean and I Install the SNOW (sure).
I just Lost the money and download time that spent to get with Lion?
How can I have a Lion DVD for when Apple fix the LOT OF PROBLEMS?
Have apple schedule for fix problems?

  • ILOM feature "Graceful Shutdown and Power Off"

    Hi,
We are using Sunblade 6250/6270s, with a stripped down SLES linux installed. We would want to be able use the ILOM feature "Graceful Shutdown and Power Off", but have failed doing this so far. What is required from the configuration and/or operating system to support this power off alternative? I have searched but not found any information on this topic.
    Thanks,
    Harri

The ILOM "Graceful Shutdown and Power Off" equal you press power button.
The SLES GUI (init 5) it will popup a window to let you confirm your action when you press the power button.
In the command line interface (init 3) when you press the power button your system Graceful Shutdown and Power Offed.

  • Disable "Power on" and "Power off" buttons in VM Manager 2.2.2

    Hi Everyone,
I'd like to modify the role "user" and disable the "Power on" and "Power off" buttons so that a username that logs on to the VM Manager that belongs to the user role cannot power on/off a VM. Is this possible?
    Many Thanks

The only way of tracking this up would to be to setup multiple individual users. At least you could see which user then powers off / on a VM from the list of jobs on the gui..

  • MOVED: K7N2 Delta Upgrade Power Off Problems

This topic has been moved to AMD SocketA based board.
K7N2 Delta Upgrade Power Off Problems

Thanks for the various suggestions.  I can confirm:
     - 4 pin cpu power plug connected
     - front bus frequency changed to 200MHz, processor now recognised correctly as Athlon xp3200+
     - I have been assured the cpu has not been overclocked
However power off problem persists.  System shuts down after approx 1 minute whether i am in BIOS or start initiaiting xp repair from CD.  As the system shuts down after such a short time the xp repair will not complete. The system wil not power on again until at least 15mins has elapsed then promptly powers off again.
I have fitted the D-bracker diagnostic tool and this shows 'operating system booting', ie four green lights.
I note from the motherboard maunal that a cpu thermal protection system is installed for the Athlon cpu platform.  If the mechanism senses an abnormal temperature rise it automatically shuts down the system.  As noted in my original post the system is powering off with the cpu temp at <40 deg C.  The cpu warning temp in the BIOS PC health check stsus facility is set at 60 deg C so do not think this is the issue?
    System details:
    MSI K7 N2 delta (MS-6570)
    Athlon xp 3200+ (AXDA3200DKV-4E)
    Corsair twinX 1024-3200C2 DDR-DIM 1024 MB
    Seagate ST340016A 40MB HDD
    Pioneer DVD Rom
    Generic CRD - BP1500P CD
    1.4MB mitsumi FDD
    Thermal take TR2 470W psu
Coolermaster xdreamII socket A cpu fan
    Gigabyte geforce 6600GT turbo video
    soundblaster live 5.1
    Anyone any further thoughts?

  • Z87-G41 Won't restart-must turn off power

I just setup the Z87-G41 with all new components.  The board will not restart or reboot when software initiates the process.  My reset button either does not work (I've switched the orientation of the connector on the MB pins to no effect) or there's a problem with the board. To get the system to reboot I have to hold down the power button for about 5 seconds.
Could this be a BIOS problem?  Not sure which BIOS I have--probably 1.0.  Will flashing to 1.6 or higher solve this problem?
Thanks for any help you can give me.
    Here's the hardware:
CPU:  i7 4790K; 16 GB Hyper-X DDR3 RAM; Gigabyte Geforce 750 Ti video; Samsung 840 Pro SSD for boot disk; WD Black 1TB for storage; LG 24X DVD R/RW; XFX XRT 650 W power supply; Dual LG 22" monitors

I think I have fixed the problem.  I downloaded BIOS V 1.8 and flashed it using M-Flash and now the computer reboots and restarts normally.  I suspect the BIOS Version 1.5 was not routing interrupts correctly.  Ctrl-Alt-Delete did absolutely nothing (outside of windows). Now, (knock on wood), looks like a normal system.

  • Random restart instead shutdown and power off in bios

    Dear all,
since some time my Thinkpad T410 randomly restarts instead doing a requested shutdown. Also there is a random power off while POST when I power on the system (I not noticed any relationship between both problems except the date since they occur - maybe a system update, but I'm not sure).
I'm running Linux 3.1.2-1-ARCH with thinkpad-acpi kernel module and laptop-mode enabled.
I also tried Windows and Ubuntu to assure that this problem is not hardware related and I never experienced the problems with both tested OS's.
Has anybody experienced similar problems or a clue where to start looking for problems?
    Cheers,
    Martin

By now, i think i solved the problem with a clean arch installation. I know, it's overkill, but I can't figure out the cause of the randomly appearing problem.
@albLinux: If you have this problem when rebooting each time, try google or have a look here:

    Hi @ibalpha ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. It is a great site for information and questions. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv4 Notebook and issue with the Boot time. I would restore the BIOS with this document selecting the reloading the BIOS default settings. This should restore the quick boot option in BIOS.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

  • Difference between Reboot and Power OFF/ON

    Hi Community,
in a forum a User is reporting serious problems after an update to the actual major release 10.6.5. He said if he boot the system in safe mode everything works as expected, after a reboot the same but after a power off and on again, the system is freezing after the login.
Now I'm searching for the difference between this two start methods, maybe we can isolate the problem a bit easier.
    Thx & Bye Tom

If the operating system is running when the power button is used to stop the computer, this can do great harm to the disk by not allowing all of the data to be written to disk as it should be.
Yes I agree but this wasn't what I'm asking for. The question is why the system works fine as long as the User proceed a normal reboot and why it is broke after a shutdown. I don't believe that the User enforce a dirty shutdown after he boot the system in safe mode. But sure, if he boot the system after a shutdown, and the system is freezing, than he have to proceed a dirty shutdown. What else could he do?
    Thx & Bye Tom

  • IPad 3rd gen crash and power off issue

I have ipad 3rd gen iOS 7.1.  In the past few hours when using internet(safari or chrome), Netflix, and games some weird things happen.
    1.  Screen goes black for a few second then returns to lock screen. And/or
    2.  'Slide to power off' appears at top of screen along with an X to cancel at bottom of screen and/or
    3.  Continually get pop up to login to itunes.
All of these things have occurred independently of one another and sometimes they all occur within a matter of seconds.
I have tried:  rebooting, logging in to itunes when it think I am not logged in, uninstalling and reinstalling apps, resetting itunes password, and now reading forums.
Suggestions? Feedback? Solutions?  Anything would be a great help right now.  Thanks!

You rebooted - by which you mean powered off, then powered on?
    Then try a reset:
Hold both the Home button and the Power button down for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
Let go promptly when it appears.
Wait 30 seconds or so for your iPad to restart.
No information or settings will be lost.

  • Iphone 5 alarm and power off buttons

I have an Iphone 5 and have two questions:
I have my alarm set for a certain time on weekdays and it just does not go off.  The only time it goes off is when I switch the phone on or lift the flap (cover for my phone).  The airplane mode is off.  Can this be rectified and if yes, how?
When I want to switch the cell phone off via the silver button on the top right hand side, it sometimes says "slide to power off" and other times, just goes off.  What is the difference between the two and could this be affecting my alarm as well?  On the odd occasion, when I switch the cell phone off (without the "slide to power off" option) it just goes off and then I still receive sms or e-mail notifications sounds during the night.
Your assistance in this regard will be most appreciated!

1:  The alarm will only work when the phone is on.
    2: Try This...
Close All Open Apps...  Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart... Reset... Restore from Backup...  Restore as New...
If you try all these steps and you still have issues... Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step...
Be sure to make an appointment first...

  • Fake lockscreen and power off screens appearing and cant slide slider on fake lockscreen

hi i have been having my screen frozen with a fake lockscreen with slider that wont slide i know it fake cause its not my lockscreen pic its my homescreen pic and when i try to power off then it show a fake power off slider i end up having to reboot

I Have been having the same problem sporadically and it is most certainly a fake lock screen, exactly as you describe.  I have never jail broke my phone nor iPad.
it is really annoying and only happens sometimes.  I have even seen the real lock screen and go to swipe it and it immedistely changes to the fake one and wont swipe.  I have found i can swipe up in the camera icon and get the camera to start then cancel that and will be at main screen, but that means i have to leave the camera accessible on the lock screen.
it seems to come and go, i also noticed if i wipe ipad and reinstall OS, it wil usually not happen for a month or so then it is back.

  • Latest update and "power off"

This morning, Blackberry installed an update on my Playbook (relatively new user). The "Power Off" icon has disappeared. Now the unit just goes to sleep which will continue to drain power. How do I power off?

Tap on the Battery Icon in the top right hand corner of the front screen and it gives you the options there.
