Z87-G43 5.1 sound problems

Almost every day I was refreshing MSI driver site for my mainboard to see did new driver in a hope that my issues will be fixed, and when I saw driver update tonight was like a little child when sees a ice cream, but sadly problems didn't changed at all even after installing new driver :/
The thing is that there is no way I can activate "Speaker Fill" for my 5.1 speakers. I listen music, watch movies and videos only on my Front and Sub speakers, while Center and Rear won't work at all. Whatever I do ( Turn off or on Speaker Fill ) nothing changes
My all 5.1 speakers work only when I press "Auto Test" button in HD Audio Manager. Please, it's annoying to listen music and watch movies and videos with front and sub speaker only, while my Center and Rear Speakers lay there for nothing. My guess is that this is a driver problem. My friend have same speakers and when I enable Speaker fill in his Realtek HD Audio manager, all of his speakers works fine.
I appeal to MSI stuff to try fix this on next update of driver if possible ! Please ! Or maybe could it be my chip fail ?

Something is wrong here. You list your CPU as the i5 3570K and your MB as the Z87-G43. This cannot be true, as these 2 are not compatible!

Hello !
Just bought my new system and seems I have problems with the sound card onboard. I have 5.1 surround Speakers and Center and Rear speakers won't work @ all in Windows, but seems in-games ( tested in 2 so far ) works fine.
It's probably Driver issues so I hope MSI stuff will at least test it and hope for soon update version, if that's where the problem is.

I've the same problem with my Z87-G45.
The button "fill speakers" in the last Realtek 1150 driver simply doesn't work at all.
It perfectly works Under Windows 8.1 drivers, but I can not correct my room with Windows driver.
Please could you help us or fix it ?

MSI Z87-G43 USB 3.0 problem - not recognize

Hello. My USB 3.0 device (pendrive Platinet X-Depo 32GB USB 3.0) gets power when plugged into the USB port, but the OS(Windows 8 and 8.1) doesn't recognize it. In the device menager USB device mass storage had a error nr 10 The device cannot start. Worked perfectly in Windows 7 (i'am install to tested) or in the port USB 2.0 (in Windows 8 and 8.1). I have actually BIOS 1.73 (before instaled bios 1.5, 1.6) and drivers for motherboard. On the standard BIOS (ver. 1.0) my pendrive don't recognized any port - 2.0 and 3.0.

They say they cannot duplicate the problem though. Here is the test they did, let me know what they can do to trigger this.
1.   Install System driver and reset
2.   Connect USB HDD to USB 3.0 port. The device can be recognized.
3.   Reboot the system
4.   Check Computer and still can find the USB HDD
5.   Power off the system
6.   Power on and check Computer.

Z87-G43 On-board sound issue (Audio Service not running)

Hello all.
Just bought the above board, did a fresh install of Win 7 on a newly formatted drive. I'm just using a simple jack from speakers into the green input on the board.
Used the CD that came with the mobo to get the drivers and then updated via windows driver updates. Windows is telling me my Realtek HD audio driver is up to date.
I have checked many different places to find out why and still have not had any luck getting any sound out.
checked BIOS to see if on board sound is enabled.
checked Realtek audio manager which is coming up blank.
checked running services and still no luck.
Can anyone offer some suggestions that might help please?

Update bios to version 1.8:

Z87-G43 GAMING Dimm problems

Dear sir,
I bought a new motherboard (Z87-G43 GAMING). The problem is that the Dimms one and two does not work except the Dimms three and four. I have four Kingston memory each one has 8 GB.

An unfortunate I have event with developments today. The dealer has contacted me and informed me there was two scratch beside the socket Influenced the work of the Dimms slots one and two. So when I tried to put the heat sink on CPU the screwdriver Slipped on the electronic circuit board of the motherboard without knowing. The error was unintentional. The news was very painful for me. For that reason I Paid for a new motherboard. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Z87-g43 memory problem

Hi all,
cpu: i7-4770k
mobo: z87-g43
ram: 2dimms of 8GB crucial ballistix tactical
I tried to install the two memory dimms on slot2 and slot4 for dual channel but the pc does not boot. The two dimms are working ok on slot3 and slot4, but they are not in dual channel.
Please notice that if I use only one dimm on slot1 or slot2 it does not boot, but if I place it on slot3 or slot4 it works ok.
What could be the problem?

Z87-g43 Ethernet problems

Hello there!
I recently bought new MB - MSI Z87-g43
Everything was working fine for a while, but then for no apparent reason, I started the PC up and I get the problem with my ethernet connection - It shows that the "cable is unplugged" all the time, of course it's working just fine on another computer and even on the same computer with an external ethernet card on PCI. It shows up in device manager - "device is working properly". It seems that the card is just dead after a standard shutdown, because the LED's on the card doesn't even light up for a moment. I'm really frustrated, because there seems to be nothing I can do to get it back to work.
Some people suggest that this might be because of power management or speed & duplex options.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I found this forum and post while I was searching for solutions. I have the same exact problem with the same Mainboard. Although I bought my Z87-G43 yesterday and the Realtek LAN Adapter doesnt recognize the Ethernet-Cable sincethe very beginning.
But in the device manager its shown as active and everything. I know this post is old but did you find a solution?
I dont really want to take the MB out again and sent it back to buy another one if there would be another way to solve this. Maybe somebody else also might know an answer too.

MSI Z87-GD65 and Z87-G43 problem on first reboot

Hi,
I have got the 2 motherboard in the subject and I have the same issue on both!
Basically I switch on the PC and after the logo of the mainboard my PC just automatically switch off with a small bep, then when I try to switch on again, everything works normally as it should be.
I have some doubt that can be related to the ram, but... it is strange that for 2 months was ok and now start to do it on the second motherboard as well.
My main config is :
Z87-G43 bios 10.4
i5 4670k
ram cmx12gx3m3a2000C9 but I have installed just 2 dimm so I have 8GB into the slot dimm 2 an 4
VGA MSI 770 gtx
PSU corsair 600cx
no overclock but just the XMP profile activated.

Since it's happening on two separate boards and during bios boot I don't believe it's driver related nor board/s related. I have the Z87M-G43 with no issues, so that leads me to believe it's either your PSU, or ram, or possibly an errant install in your case (eg. missing a motherboard standoff). Try another PSU see what happens, Also try different ram. In theory your PSU should be ok with your 770 GPU but it might not it could be a slightly defective unit with an out of spec +12v rail. The only way you are going to find out the issue is by testing components. You can find out if your GPU is ok by trying it in another machine. Ram too. Power supply as well. If you have a decent runnable PSU laying around I would set your rig to the lightest possible config using your Intel integrated GPU (no GTX card) just to see if you can get a decent boot.

Z87-G43 Gaming - Random rebooting & strange CPU temps

Howdy.
Since building this system I've been having constant problems with system reboots. It seems completely random, but I've had a few this morning which is unusual (and I hope; unique!). It can be doing anything, or even nothing, for days and suddenly the power goes completely for a few seconds (I'm almost certain it isn't the power supply itself dropping, other things plugged into the same surge protector are still running).
When it returns windows log just shows Error 6008, with no other information. It happens infrequently enough for me to think I've cured it by doing something suddenly to get a surprise again. Things I've tried:
Re-installing OS (several times!).
Changing/stopping startup programs and services
Unplugging USB devices (for a while I honestly thought it was an iPhone cable! There seemed to be some correlation between it being plugged in and not plugged in. Not so).
Updating BIOS
Using Microsoft drivers instead of MSI supplied drivers (went back to MSI)
Using the Qualcomm Athero drivers for LAN instead of Killer
Monitoring CPU temps (see below!)
Tuning BIOS
etc, etc.
It is really frustrating, there is very little evidence to point towards one thing. It can go a week without rebooting, including lots of heavy gaming, and then I'll be doing something non-CPU intensive (i.e. browsing, or typing) and it suddenly restarts, then maybe another later that day, then another two days later, then nothing for a week again. Arggg! The one thing I have noticed, is that it rarely, if ever, goes down when doing something very CPU/GPU intensive, so I doubt it is thermal or that the PSU isn't coping.
Having said that, this morning has been a bit unusual, it has restarted more than ever (3 times I think, maybe more when I wasn't sat in front of it, I haven't checked the logs). The last time I fired up openhardwaremonitor and it reports something really odd, it says one core is running at nearly 125c and another is running at -35c . Speed fan is also showing these temps (but not Core temp, which shows them as being around 30c on each core). I totally understand that this is a misreading/bug, but it makes me wonder if the OS or motherboard is also misreading these temperatures and cutting the power supply?
I have found others with the same problem with the same motherboard (although to be fair, I was searching for the problem with the motherboard specified). Anybody else seeing these problems with this motherboard? Any suggestions?

Every other time (apart from today) it is instant, like a reset, this morning when it went off I honestly thought it had died, but it came back about 30 seconds later.
TBH; I'd rather it had died! I know it sounds like strange logic, but at least I could have tested individual components and found out exactly what was wrong and had it replaced while still fairly new.
Event Viewer is just full of: Error 6008 "The previous system shutdown at <time> on ‎<date> was unexpected" (logged when it comes back, nothing significant before the reboot).

Z87-G43 Can't control PWM fans, wth?

Here's the build:
MSI Z87-G43 (BIOS v1.6 updated hoping this would fix problem, no go)
Corsair H80 watercooler (dual PWM fans push/pull config on radiator, these are what I cannot control)
Intel i5-4670K
16GB DDR3-1600
GTX550Ti 1GB
The H80 fans, I disconnect them from the cooler and connect them to the motherboard for control by software, rather than letting the H80 handle them itself so I can control the water temperature and let the pump run at full speed (like a custom water cooling circuit). I've had PWM control of these fans before on an old AM3+ build without a single problem, but plugging them into CPU1 or CPU2, I get 0 control at all. I'm at a loss as to how to fix this, I've tried plugging the fans into SYSFAN ports, and nada. My 3-pin V-Control fan works on SYSFAN1 port without a problem, full control. CPUFAN ports have no PWM control it seems, and I've tried Control Center and other 3rd party applications to enable it, without success. HALP, my computer sounds like a jet engine for no reason!
Trying to adjust the PWM fans in BIOS doesn't work either, they just keep running at 100%... I'm really getting tired of the jet engine sound.

I understand that this is a user forum, but when I see "MSI HQ" as their title, that's quite misleading as that reads (when you break down the acronyms): Micro-Star International HeadQuarters.
I'm only 'demanding' because I just got this and set it up. I have used MSI boards in the past, in fact my "backup" computer (missing all my tools and code) is running an old MSI board, and my router's motherboard is also MSI. It's usually solid products that I have no problem with, so something as tiny and otherwise trivial as this, just rubs me the wrong way. I understand there's manufacturing defects that will come up, one of those MSI boards, when I got it had a bug where you couldn't burn a CD because if you had the IDE port configured for a certain speed in BIOS (by default), it would crash the entire board when pushed. This was due to a capacitor mix-up back at the factory (that MSI admitted to and offered free replacements to anyone with an affected board), and while I never bothered to request a replacement (I just applied a tweak in the BIOS to avoid using that capacitor like many others), it continued to work flawlessly otherwise. Though, this machine is gated for many many tasks, and getting a headache while using it because of the loud fans, just won't do, especially when I'm going to spend the majority of the time using this machine.

Z87-G43 Gaming reboot dont work

hello all
my new MSI mainboards have a problem of reboot: fans run, leds also, but nothing more... if i've a reboot to make, the only solution is to turn off the system, and re launch after.
i've make all the tests that i've think:
without graphiq card (using mainboard ship)
with only one memory stick (using differents slots)
remove all usb/sound and other case connectors (ssd/dvd/hdd also): boot by contact with "screwdriver"
re install the latest BIOS (V10.4) 2 times
all work fine except reboot....

Z87-G43 Gaming no audio output

Hi
I have just built a new pc using the z87-g43 gaming board and can not get the audio to work. Sound works when windows is loading (win7), but once all is running I have no output to the speakers. I have updated to the latest bios and downloaded the latest realtek driver (6.0.1.6959)
I have i7 4771 chip
GTX 760 twin frozer OC
Bios is A.10
Sound Blaster Cinema 1.00.05 (though I have tried with this uninstalled).
Any ideas?

OK, so problem resolved. I was connecting to my AOC monitor (integrated speakers) with the HDMI cable plus the usual sound cable. The monitor was expecting the sound to be on the HDMI so was disabling the std sound input. Switched to using the DVI cable and all is working as expected.

These i7 4770K Temperatures And Voltage Values Are Normal With Z87-G43?

Hello everyone,
I recently upgraded my good old Core2Duo rig and bought a new cpu-motherboard-ram trio. My new specs is as follows:
- i7 4770K @ stock speed + Coolermaster 212Evo cpu cooler
- MSI z87 g43 motherboard
- 2x4 GB G-Skill Ripjaws X 1866Mhz
- Case: Corsair Carbide 400R
The problem is I wasn't aware of that new Haswell cpus are running slightly hotter and now I'm little bit worried about my temperatures. Since I was also planning to overclock my cpu a bit and trying to find a point that doesn't need a vast voltage increase, I'm losing my sleeps over this situation at the moment.
Anyways. I'm using softwares like HWmonitor, Coretemp, Realtemp and Intel Extreme Tuning Utility. Turbo Boost is also active. So the cpu is going up until 3.9 GHz. Other than that I'm on stock speeds, and motherboard's default values. Here are my temperatures:
Ambient room temp: Varies between 23-25 °C
Idle: 28-30 °C
While playing demanding games like Battlefield 4: Max 58-65°C
With Intel Extreme Tuning's stress test for 15 mins: max 65-70 °C
With Prime 95 Blend and OCCT burn tests for 15 mins: max 78-82 °C
I also run realtemp's sensor test and the values are identical since it's using Prime95 too.
I also noticed that Prime 95 and OCCT is increasing my cpu voltage value from 1.156 to 1.21 while Intel Extreme Tuning's stress test and BurnInTest is using 1.156v. All these test are using %100 of the cores. Couldn't understand why there's a voltage increase on certain tests which leads my temps go even higher and higher. Will I encounter these kinds of random voltage increases during normal tasks? Like playing games, rendering some stuff etc..?
On the other hand I tried motherboard's OC Genie future to see what happens. It overclocked the cpu automatically to 4.0 GHz @1.10v. With this setting I've seen max of 70 °C for a second and mostly 65-68°C under OCCT stress test. And also my voltage didn't increase at all and sit at 1.10. I'm a bit confused about these values. Since with default settings I'm getting hotter values and my voltage is going up to 1.21 with Turbo Boost under Prime95/OCCT burn tests. I also found out that my BIOS is v1.0. I don't really have a performance or a stability issue for now except this voltage thing. Does a BIOS update help on that situation? I don't really like to touch something already working OK and end up with a dead board.
Also I'm wondering if my temperature values are normal with the cpu cooler i have (Coolermaster 212evo)?
I also could buy some extra fans for my case (1 exhaust to top & 1 intake to side) and maybe a second fan for the cpu cooler if you guys think that these would help a bit.

I will follow your suggestions for the fans. Currently I don't have any fans on top. But I'm considering to buy some fans to top and side. So you get better results with top fans being exhaust right?
Also which fan are you using as the second fan for the cpu heatsink? I would buy one of these as well since we have the same heatsink.
I'm also using the default/auto voltages and settings at the moment. Just Turbo Boost is enabled and when it kicks in voltage is going up to 1.156. Which seems normal and doesnt produce dangerous level of heat. The thing is if I start running Prime95&OCCT the voltages going up to 1.21+ level at the same turbo boost speed (which is 3.9 GHz). And that produces a lot more heat than usual. But if I use BurnInTest or Intel Extreme Tuning Utility stress test the voltages sit at 1.156 and under full load on all cores. I'm wondering what's the reason of this difference and if it is software or motherboard related. Even with using the OC Genie @ 4.1 GHz temperatures and voltages seem lower than the stock&auto settings (idle 35-38 / stress test with OCCT 70C max, gaming 60-65C max). I'm not sure if a BIOS update would fix this. Since the whole BIOS flashing process is creeping me out. I don't like to bother with something that is already working OK. Don't want to end up with a dead board in the end :P Maybe I'm becoming a bit paranoid though, since this is a really hard earned upgrade after 6 years. :P

Flash Method:

A.) Download the attached archive and place it on your desktop. Do not decompress.
B.) Download and install the Forum flash tool.
C.) Insert your FAT32 formatted usb stick.
D.) Make sure that all win 8 options are disabled. (Fast Boot etc) Also make sure the legacy USB is enabled.
E.) Start the forum flash tool and select option 1. Then point the tool at the compressed archive we downloaded earlier. Then to your USB Flash Drive.
F.) Boot to the USB and follow the directions. MEMTEST is included with the forum flash tool and it is recommended to run this prior to any flash.
2.) Extract the attached files and place the bios file onto a fat32 formatted USB stick and use M-FLASH.
Once the flash is complete, you must download and install the latest ME drivers.

Z87-G43 can't reboot - how to update BIOS?

Hey all, today I built a new PC with an MSI Z87-G43 mainboard and an i5-4690 CPU.
I have the problem that the PC can't reboot or reset, instead the PC just keeps running and doing nothing whatsoever.
This seems to be a known issue and the solution is to update BIOS + ME firmware.
For an explanation on how to do that everyone keeps linking to this topic. But to be honest, I don't understand what I have to do now :( (Also, I have never done a BIOS update in my life, and I am kinda scared of the warnings that it can brick the system...)
Could someone tell me which files exactly I have to use for this specific mainboard?

i5-4690 requires BIOS 1.7 dated 2014-02-26 and the i5-4690K BIOS 1.8 dated 2014-05-29
If the board date is later than the required BIOS release it is likely that you have it already.
That part of the serial number is 1402, so slightly too early I guess? In the BIOS setup it says V1.6 as well, screenshot:

This happens whenever the PC should reboot: When I select "reboot" in Windows, it shuts down and then black screen. Whenever I press the reset button, I just get the black screen. Also e.g. after exiting the BIOS. The problem existed already before I installed Windows, so wrong settings there can hardly be the reason.
Everything happens exactly as described in the topic I linked.
