Z87-G43 : JAUD1 front panel connector problem

Hi everyone,
I received this mb two days ago, everything was working fine until i decided to plug my headphones in the front panel jack of my Zalman Z12 plus...
There is like an "underwater" effect that makes the sound pretty bad. The rear jacks work flawlessly.
Any clues ? Any feedbacks ?
I've tried to :
- reinstall the latest realtek driver : still
- use another headset : still
Maybe the mb is faulty, maybe the case is...
Thanks.

Hello,
Thanks for the feedback. I found the culprit : broken front panel audio connectors on my Zalman Z12 Plus.
What case do you have ?
Glad to hear that you figured it out.

• Z87-G43 Board Front panel USB Problem

I have installed the board and windows 7 64bit
Updated the Bios and checked everything I could. I do NOT get the connect tones from anything I connect to the front panel USB ports. I have used 2 (KNOWN GOOD, works on other machines) connector sets with 2 ports each, and ALL of the ports have the same symptoms. All of the usb devices have the connect tones when inserted to any of the rear ports. I have not tried the USB3 port for the front because I do not have the wiring and related header connector. My phone, (Samsung GS4) when connected to the rear ports always opens an explorer window showing the Ext SDCard and the Internal memory. when I connect to any of the front panel ports, no sound, no pop-up of explorer, but I do see the device when I manually open explorer and can open the connection manually.
I am at a loss as to what is not right and how I can make it work correctly. If anyone can give me any information to correct this, I'd be very grateful. (Tech Support was no help)
Thank you, and Aloha From Hawaii!

Thank you for your reply.
I have an older Antec Case and I have tried a brand new front panel connector I got from Frys and it acts the same Way. the only difference is that the connector is a one piece assembly that connects directly to the mobo header pins. the one in the case has individual pin connectors. both systems end up with the same scenario. When I plug in a thumb drive, there is no connect or disconnect sound and I still can manually open explorer and access the thumb drive or my phone but nothing pops up to signify any port access.BTW, I am a systems engineer and have spent the last 13 years building machines for a transportation company (bus) My previous board in the same case used the front panel connection and it worked just fine, but since the board died and was only supportive of XP I decided to upgrade to Win 7 64bit and have 16gb ram. All the rear connectors work just fine, but I need all of them so have to use the front panel connection for phone, and thumb drive access. I suspect the mobo has a design problem. The tech support person had no suggestion to correct this problem too! :<(

• Front Panel Connectors with new Motherboard

Hello Lenovo Community, i have just purchased a new mother board(msi h55 e23) and have just installed it into my Lenovo 3000 h210. The only problem with it is the front panel connectors. I don't understand how they're supposed to work. I have a JFP1 and JFP2, yet i'm not sure where the front panel connectors go because im pretty sure they aren't your standard front panel connectors. Is there anyway to get by this without me having to purchase a new case?

• Front Panel Connector MS-4011

Hello all. I have acquired this front panel connector that was apparently manufactured by MSI at some point but I cannot find any documentation on it at all. I have managed to hook it up and it IS working. Although I've noticed that it will not read my SDHC cards. This is a problem. Therefore I was wondering if anybody knows anything about this device, perhaps there was an update for its drivers that provided HC compatibility. I don't know. Its nowhere to be found on MSI's support site. My friend's cheapo Targus card reader reads HC cards, surely there is something I can do to get this thing to read them. Thanks for the help!

Any idea where I can find documentation for the product?
There probably isn't, because this was probably never released as a retail product. Searching through Google suggests this may have been a product made for Medion PCs. If it is old, it was probably released long before SDHC became available, so it will never support them.

Card readers don't need drivers, they work with the default drivers included with Windows.

• P67A-GD53 (B3) Missing Front Panel Connectors

I've received a brand new P67A-GD53 (B3) board this morning and it appears to have no front panel connectors for power switch, LEDs, speaker etc.
In place of the connectors there are two black components wired into the position where the front panel pins ought to be, according to the manual.
The manual shows the correct connectors JFP1 and JFP2 and the box contained the usiual MSI 'M-Connectors' which are designed to fit on the front panel connector pins, but my board just has these odd components instead. The only way I can switch the PC on or reset it is by using the green buttons on the main board itself.
Have I got myself a non-standard version of the board? It was purchased from a trade distributor in the UK.
Geoff

I got a few complaints on this subject and my first thought was pirated mainboards.
Not this case.

• Front panel connectors for Envy H8-1511eo

Hello.
I am going to be moving over the components in my current HP PC to a new case for more room, more airflow and better cable management.
The case that I'm moving my system to is the NZXT H440.
I need to know the correct placement for all the front panel connectors to the motherboard from the case.
The motherboard is a IPMMB-FM (Formosa) manufactured by Pegatron.
Thanks in advance.

Your Specific ZZXT H440 case has both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 connectors on the Front Panel.
There are internal headers on the Formosa motherboard to support that functionality.

IF you have spare (unused) internal connectors (USB 2.0) , there are third-party brackets to bring that functionality to the rear panel through usage of an expansion slot bracket.

I sometimes use those extra USB 2.0 headers/connectors with an appropriate cable for an internal USB stick/dongle (e.g. San Disk Cruzer Fit, 16 GB),

• Front Panel connector for JAUD1 on K9A2 Platinum mobo

I bought some headphones for my computer and they work well when plugged into the line out and mic on the back. It's a pain unplugging my speakers in the back and plugging in the headphones, then switching back when I want my speakers again.
I noticed there is an internal JAUD1 connector which suggests that I can attach a front panel audio device to it. Where can I get such a device and what is it called ( I can look on New Egg if I know what to look for ) ? Does MSI sell one ? Does it attach in front into one of my drive bays ( I have lots of them in a Lian Li case ) ? If I have the device attached and plug my headphones into it, can I listen to audio through my headphones without having to unplug my speakers ?

Quote from: eldiener on 06-January-11, 01:23:43
My case is about 10 years old I believe. It is a Lian Li PC-70USB Full Tower ATX Case and it still is excellent. But it did not come with a front panel audio connector. Is it possible to buy one anywhere which can fit into a drive bay and which connects to the JAUD1 on the K9A2 ? I will search New Egg for "front panel audio connector", and I will ask Lian Li if perhaps they have one for older cases.
You can buy a new soundcard that comes with some front panel bay too ,though is much more expensive than a simple new case.
If you managed 10 years without a front jack why would you want it now ?!
Buy some USB headshones ,if there is a front USB connector ,maybe you get even better sound quality.
The sound on the Platnium is not so great anyway ,i ve turned it off in the first 2 months of usage to use either X-FI either D1 which are much better sound wise.

• K8N Neo Platinum + Sonata Front Panel Audio Problem

Hello,
The front panel audio speaker output is reversed when using headphones on my K8N Neo Platinum and Antec Sonata case. If I swap the left and right front panel audio output signal connectors, the headphone speakers are fine, but then my normal front speakers are reversed. All other connectors seem to be plugged in correctly. I've tried using nvswap, but doesn't seem to work on nForce3. Currently using Realtek driver version 5.10.0.5620 (had the same problem with the drivers included on mb cd) on WinXP Pro SP1 and 5.1 speaker setup (would like to use FPA for mic/headphones while gaming).
Let me know if you need any additional info.
Thanks.

I am having the same problem as well. Was able to correct front output jack by switching the connections. But rear audio is still backwards. I havent tried any sort of 5.1 or 7.1 channel audio setups

• Front Panel Audio Problems

I'm trying to make sense of the JAUD1 descriptions and enable the front panel audio jacks to work but it seems the mobo doc and the casing connectors have entirely different descriptions.
The JAUD1 has these:
Pin1 AUD_MIC
Pin2 AUD_GND
Pin3 AUD_MIC_BIAS
Pin4 AUD_VCC
Pin5 AUD_FPOUT_R
Pin6 AUD_RET_R
Pin7 HP_ON
Pin8 Key
Pin9 AUD_FPOUT_L
Pin10 AUD_RET_L
The casing's connectors are:
Mic:
MICOUT
MICIN
AGMD (Ground???)
LineIn:
SPKO-R
SPKO-L
LineOut:
EARO-R
EARO-L
Reserved
What is going on??? Please help! ;(

Although it doesn't make sense as LineIn - SPKO_L/SPKO_R, I read as Speaker Out though. EARO_L/EARO_R should be headphone out.
Pin1 AUD_MIC - MICOUT
Pin2 AUD_GND - AGMD
Pin3 AUD_MIC_BIAS - MICIN
Pin4 AUD_VCC
Pin5 AUD_FPOUT_R - EARO_R
Pin6 AUD_RET_R - SPKO_R
Pin7 HP_ON
Pin8 Key
Pin9 AUD_FPOUT_L - EARO_L
Pin10 AUD_RET_L - SPKO_L

• Sound Blaster Z - how set autodetect connected headphones (into front panel connector)

Hello,
how can I set autodetect connected headphones into front panel on my new Sound Blaster Z?
I have used to use my onboard soundcard (only to my headphones) together with AMD R290X soundcard (via HDMI to Onkyo receiver).
Onboard soundcard was set as default audio device in Windows. So If I connected my headphones into front pannel connector, play only my headphones. If I disconnect headphones, onboard soundcard was disabled and soundcard on R290X was now only active audio device, so music playing only from my speaker (receiver Onky via HDMI on AMD R290X).
Now if I connect my headphones, I have to manualy switch audio device unit in Windows control panel between "SoundBlasterZ" and "R290X HDMI".
It is very annoying. Is there any way to figure it out?
Sorry for my bad english, I hope you understand my problem.
Thank you!

Hi prachart,
You will need to set Sound Blaster Z as the default playback audio device in the window control panel -> sound -> playback. Make sure you connect the physical connector from the front panel to the Sound Blaster Z card. This will let you plug into the headphone and able to playback. However, the AMD R290X HDMI port will not be able to have any sound as the default playback device set to Sound Blaster Z and it will not automatically release control and toggle to the available plug-in device.
You will need to go to control panel to toggle again if you want to have the sound from the HDMI port.
I am sorry if the above are not much help but this is the design implementation of the sound card so that there is no compromise in the sound quality.

• 880GM-P51 Front Panel Connector

I am just setting up my motherboard. The system is not complete or running yet. I am concerned about Front Panel Audio connector: JAUD1. This is found on page En-17 in my User Guide, or page 2-15 in the on-line PDF Guide. In the diagram pins 1 and 3 show to be for MIC R and MIC L. My connector for this says MIC IN and MIC VCC. Is it possible that the diagram has a typo? It does not seem correct that a mike would have a right and left. It does seem possible that a mike IN pin and a VCC (power) pin would be correct. If I am right about this which pin would be for VCC (power) and which pin would be for IN? If I am wrong are there any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mox

Yes you are correct. I am recycling a Pentium 4 class no name case. I was not aware of a change in the audio system on the case. All of the other connectors have matched up except this one.

• Save a front panel image problem

Hi, i'm trying to save at run-time an image of my front panel, and the little code with the Invoke Node (FP.GetImage) works well but there is a problem, i have a background image for my front panel and this image don't show up in the image saved so i have an image with controls and graphs but a blank background. Is there some way to obtain an image of my ENTIRE front panel? Thanks

Hi,
Here's how I got ride of tghis issue, I use Windows "printscreen" function by simulating a keyboard stroke and then I get the data from clipboard (crop it it necessary) and save the image.
What I like about it is that the "crop" makes it easy to get just what I want when there's more than one monitor.
What I don't like is that it's a windows only solution.
Hope it helps
