Z87-G45 and 7970 problem

Sunday, I got a brand new MSI Z87-G45 and 4770k as a nice upgrade. Ive finally got the things working this evening, and the integrated graphics are running fine. However, when I attempt to utilize my 7970, no video output is available. The card is seated, the card works (last tested 2 hours ago), the card is powered, the fans are spinning up, yet still no video output is provided. Ive attempted to remedy the problem with another graphics card as well, and then with the two in crossfire, but still I have no out put. Help me msi forum , you're my only hope.

Hi and
Plz insert full spec list in next post like Svet asked.

Take the pc a part and build it without case and try again.
I hope this helps! Cheers Mummy
Edit: I dont member if that board come with power button, but if not you can use jumper(or other tool) betwean those power button pins (be careful to not jump wrong pins!) a secend to start it up.

Did you use same PSU?
If it dosent work without case, then take your system bear minimum (MB, CPU, PSU and that GPU. Mayby memory too, but you can test it. Should you need it with that on board vga and no memory in) and try again.
If that dosent help, i would ask RMA from shop that sell you that board or straigth from MSI.

MSI-Z87-G45 Killer networking problem, need help please!!!
1st instahttps://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=172016.0ll-  internet works- but when I tried to do the "test" in the control panel for KillerNetwork, it failed to load, it said that I needed to install flash. I closed out that window that popped up for running the speed test and got a message that says that in order for the killer networking to work correctly I must perform the "speed test". So I went and downloaded the latest version of "flash player". tried the test again and got the same results. How the heck can I do that if it doenst see that I have "flash" installed....Grrrrr  btw-Flash has been verified and works on the web page where that "test" resides if I go directly to the site, just not via this dialog box that the control panel uses.
So I deleted the control panel and driver and reloaded them.
Went to do the "speed test" and got a repeat of the above, so I left it alone and tried to play a game...the lag was horrible, the worst I have ever experienced - unplayable, so I guess that message about the speed test is 100% a must!!
I have tried everything I can possible imagine, I even reinstalled windows and all the drivers again....still nothing works with this "speed test dialog box"....What to do??
    Thanks in advance-Rob

Thanks I will try that, if not, it seems the adapter may have an issue beause the internet is jacked up on it right now.
On that control panel program, I wonder why they wouldnt just program it to take you to the site via the browser and not try to keep it embedded inside that pop-up window<-------hey!!! that just gave me an idea- I wonder if the problem is that it is a type of "pop-up"!! Dang I will have to wait until tonight to try that - "enable pop-ups" ....never thought to try that since it wasnt inside the Chrome browser window itself...maybe its the fix!! "ummm" maybe!!! naaa it cant be that simple ...can it?? lol
I realy hope it is, well either of these...that lan adapter was the whole reason I went with this MSI board!!

  • Z87-G45 Voltage Adjustment Problem

I recently built a new system with the Z87-G45 and Core i5 4670K.
I am unable to make any type of adjustments to any core voltages within the BIOS. I am forced to use the Intel Tuning Utility.
Is there something I must disable or enable in order to have the ability to adjust the voltages in the BIOS?

My apologies if you believe I was being rude. Let me rectify this...
I open a thread to ask for help with this problem. I offer enough information to continue the conversation.
After posting that I am completely unable to change any settings, I receive a question asking if I highlighted the field and used the + or - keys. Not to be insulting, L2R. It turned out I have to hold the Shift key while pressing the + for it to function correctly. When everything is on Auto, the - key changes nothing. That was the problem right there and why I asked for help to find a resolution.
Of course I highlighted the fields and tried to change the settings with the correct keys before posting anything. I read almost the entire user manual and I have fifteen years of experience in this field. So I'm hoping that you can understand that I felt a bit insulted by that nub question. And the conversation spiraled down from there.
I will not go into detail concerning the actions I would have to take in order to post a SS. No one wants to hear it...
I did not receive any help...

    What, exactly, is your complaint?

  • Problem with MSI z87-g45 and gigabyte GTX 770

Hello, I just built my new computer useing a Z87-G45 gaming motherboard and a Gigabyte GTX 770 graphic card, reason Im making this post is because I cant get a any video on the monitor useing the Graphic card, only way to get the monitor working is to use the Integraded graphic, I've tried all ports on the Graphic card same problem, i've switched monitor no succes.
Weird thing is, Inside BIOS when Im looking on the overview of the board it tells me that I dont have anything connected in the PCI-E slots, I've tried to switch PCI-E slots and same issue appears.
How do I fix this? or cant my graphic card be DOA? since my old one works in the PCI-E slots as normally

Update the bios to the most recent found here: >>BIOSes<<
Extract the bios file and place it on a fat 32 formatted usb stick and use M-flash w/ ME.
    Then re-test.

  • Problem regarding Z87-G45 and graphics card

Hey guys, I upgraded my PC yesterday and only kept the graphics card from my old one because it was pretty decent. PC now looks like this:
    MB: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming
    CPU: i7 - 4770K
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 1600 Mhz (2x8GB)
PSU: bequiet! Straight Power E9 600W
and my trusty ASUS Geforce GTX 660 Ti
So basically I installed a copy of Windows 7 on my new SSD, installed the Drivers that came with the MB, and proceeded to download the new nvidia drivers because my graphics card was only being recognized as "standard vga video card". When I rebooted the system my PC froze at the Windows Logo and then rebooted itself over and over, getting stuck at the windows logo. Some times I got onto the desktop, could even open my browser etc. but that only lasted for a couple of seconds. Safe Mode was working fine though and it recognized the card and drivers. So I googled a bit, tried the card in my old PC and it was working fine.I tried my old GTX 260 but that gave my screen a very red-ish tone. Then I set up Windows again and installed every single chipset driver and MB driver, using mainly the MSI Live Update without my card in the system. It's running on the CPU's GPU atm. Then I plugged in my 660 Ti and didn't even get sth on screen this time. Now I've unplugged it again and am using the CPU graphic engine.
I'm kinda lost by now, I really don't know what else to try and I haven't found a solution I haven't tried on google.
So I wanted to try my luck with you guys: Am I doing something wrong? Am I missing some distinct BIOS features? Or is my MB/graphics card dying on me? And out of those options, which is the most likely?
Anyways, any help is much appreciated.

    Quote
Well, I tried my luck once again - didn't work out too well. At least I know it can't be the graphics card 'cause that one is working fine here on my old PC.
But thenagain "compatibility" is a thing.
Any Samsung SSD's dont have SandForce, that i know of
Dosent your BIOS have update software in it? .. that what i used on main (MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming)  and will use in dase on foward when i have it as i dont trust OS's.
What happend ? ...well youl luck run out but how?
Did you try different GPU drivers and they did disable your screen?
You see BIOS but not OS or what? ...
Edit: if that so then try other storage then your SSD for the os. just to get it out of picture...
You dont need to "validate" it for test so dont!!!! just set it to get validation later via manual or what ever els it says.
Edit 2: What if you brack the BD cake and insert that VGA to secend PCI-e x16 slot?
Edit 3: Samsung 840 have new FW too. So see if yours have one.
... i need to update one of my "non Pro Samsung 840" to be present in system, that had other drives in RAID...

  • MSI Z87-G45 and BSoD all time

    Hi,
    my configuration:
    MSI Z87-G45,
    i5 4670k
    2x8 GB ddr3 Patriot Viper 3 1600MHz CL9
    Radeon HD 6870
    PSU Corsair 550W
    HDD SATA WD 500GB
SSD Corsair Force 3 128 GB
    Windows 7 64bit
...and i have BSOD all time... At first I thought that the problem is SSD, but yesterday unplugget him and put normal HDD. And still got bluescreens. I updated  BIOS to version 1.4, restored default settings and I tried to manually set the memory and enable/disable XMP profile. Memtest86 passed without problems. I changed SATA ports and dunno what more to do. Help please.

no BSOD so far, so this mean that first ram piece is bad?
Have that RAM kit exchanged. Perhaps even consider a Corsair Vengeance or Vengeance Pro. http://www.corsair.com/us/memory-by-product-family/vengeance-pro-series-memory/vengeance-pro-series-16gb-2-x-8gb-ddr3-dram-1600mhz-c9-memory-kit-cmy16gx3m2a1600c9.html

Ouch, I just rechecked your screenshot. That XMP profile calls for a CR of 3T. Your setting is 1T. That is one probable cause as per the error explanation above.
I would consider an alternative kit as 3T essentially points to a lesser quality memory chip on those modules. You can of course attempt to manually set your CR to 2T or 3T and see if it works for you.

  • Z87-G45 - RAM frequency problem

    Hi all
    I've got Team Vulcan 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 2400
and i want to increase the frequency from 1333 to 2400
I have tried XMP but nothing changed. Later i tried to set the frequency manually to 2400 but still nothing.
    ???

Im at work right now so i'll report on that later. but just so i'll know, should i enable or disable the XMP ?
    Also:
"The i3-4130 system I built with that board (MSI Z87-G45 Gaming) ran good, but the board is sensitive to which sticks you use. It won't run the HyperX Beast 2400 kit (2 x 4GB) that runs perfectly in my Asus P8Z77-V board. It defaulted back to the SPD rating of 1333 MHz. I didn't try any of the ones on the QVL because they are all old kits and no longer available. MSI as usual has issues with compatibility. I thought maybe it was because of the i3's limited throughput, but my next build was with the same i3-4130 and an Asus Z87-K (Asus' lowest-priced Z87 board), and that system had no trouble at all running the Beast kit, or for that matter running the 2 x 8GB Adata XPG V2 2400 MHz kit I run in my main rig. I really thought MSI was looking better these days, I really liked the board, but they let me down again (as always). I try to give other brands a chance, but always go back to Asus after dealing with all the little issues that crop up every time.
To answer your question, I would only buy RAM for that board off the QVL, if even possible. I tried to match a kit for over an hour without success, all were "out-of-stock" or "discontinued" except one 1866 kit with crappy specs and a high price. I guess I'm spoiled by Asus, their boards always ran everything I installed right out of the box. I suppose companies with fewer resources have to use whatever's laying around in the lab to make their QVL, as they can't afford to buy the latest kits. Sad that so new a board has a QVL from 2 years ago!
Normally I'd adivse that kits up to 2400 are the sweet spot, since their price is only a little higher than 1600 kits, but with that board, until more users post some kits that work, I'd say stick with 1600/1.5v kits."

  • Z87-G45 and SOME USB 3.0 ports not appearing in tray/prompting to eject

The 2 lowest USB 3.0 ports on the back panel (Nearest the sound connectors) of my G45 have a weird issue under Win 7 Ultimate. When I plug in a 2.0 drive into those ports, everything is normal i.e. the eject icon and eject warning appear in the tray as usual. However, when I plug in 3.0 drives, no icon or warning appear, but they're fully accessible through explorer etc. USBView reports they're running at full speed, so they're being identified correctly. These 3.0 drives have all the proper messages/icons in all the other ports, including the 2.0 ports where it even warns me that it can perform faster in a 3.0 port. I've tried all the older/latest drivers from Intel and MSI. And ideas or suggestions? Just trying to figure out if my board has a problem or not. Thanks!

Do you just mean they aren't treated as removable drives?
There was an issue that was resolved via bios update similar to this.
Might want to try upgrading to the latest.

  • Z87-G45 Gaming - RAM Problems

    Basics out of the way
    PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX750G 80PLUS
    CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K
    RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1866 MHZ (PC3 15000) Desktop Memory (CMZ16GX3M2A1866C10)
    VGA: EVGA GeForce GTX780
First problem - only one stick of memory lets me boot. Dual channel no go. I've tried swapping modules, they're each fine, but when I put both in - nope. No beeps, no nothing, powers on fans spin, nothing goes anywhere. Tried older RAM from my old machine. Same thing. Single sticks work, dual - no go.  Using the recommended slots, even tried the others, no go.  Unless there is some setting I'm missing in the BIOS, the only thing I can think of is to flash to a beta version and try. I've also reset the CMOS with the power unplugged. Twice. Latest version on MSI's site for the BIOS which is 1.5.
EDIT: OK, all monitors working now with multi-monitor enabled and Nvidia drivers installed. Now the RAM.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Do I need to try a beta version of the bios?
Really looking for help. If I can't get this resolved today I'm just going to RMA it and go with a different board.

DIMM1, DIMM2 work great solo. 3 and 4 no boot, no beeps, nothing. Reseated the CPU while I was messing around down there.
So I don't know at this point. Bad board? Reading the stickied, would an outdated or improperly updated Intel Mangement Engine cause something like this? (since I didn't even know what the ME part meant in the bios till I read it on here).
So I'm out of ideas right now. Unless you think a new bios would work https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=169943.0, the later ones than the "current" version on MSI's site has a lot of memory fixes/changes so maybe that? Other than that I can only think to RMA it.

  • MSI Z87 G45 and Intel 4670k Turbo Boost Option Missing?

    In my BIOS (V1.6):
I go into OC>CPU Features and Turbo Boost is not there, I have seen the bottom setting about using Intel's Turbo Boost, to UNDERCLOCK when needed, but I see no Feature to activate Turbo Boost or for some reason has this feature been taken out of V1.6?
Also note that I accidentally reset my XMP RAM profile and is now back to 2400MHz.

Not quite sure but this should be in just OC. Also you don't have to enable turbo boost but manually increase frequency using + and -, leaving all other settings at auto.
You will find there things like Frequency mode (not quite sure how it's worded) so you can either set it to be e.g. 3.4ghz all the time (idle too) or adaptive so when idling, it goes down to 1.5ghz (around..). Look carefully.

  • Is MSI Z87-G45 compatible with Be Quiet Dark Rock 3 and TridentX ?

    Hello,
I have a MSI Z87-G45 and 2 DDR3 TridentX (from 40 mm tall without heatspreader to 53mm with it) in dual channel mode.
I'd like to mount a Be Quiet Dark Rock 3 with rear air extraction, front heatsink fan, and my DDR3 in dual channel mode (slot 2 and 4). Is it compatible or will I encounter clearance issue with DDR3 ?
    Thanks

I bought the Dark Rock 3 from Be Quiet and I confirm that it is perfectly compatible with both TridentX and MSI Z87-G45 but we have to sacrifice the DDR's first slot (2, 3 and 4 still available).

    Hi guys,
I just received my new MSI Z87-G45 and put it in my pc with my Intel Core i5-4670K
When I first tried to boot, nothing happened, except the fans and the hard disk. It doesn't beep and I see no screen. I switched the RAM, removed the graphics card, removed the hd, nothing worked.
Just the fans are going on, but nothing else happens.
I had a look at the cpu socket and wasn't sure if it is how it is supposed to look like (my first intel board) so I attached a picture. The pins look kind of weird, not sure about them:
Any ideas what I could try?

    Thanks for your replies.
I did a CMOS several times (everytime after removing a component) - didn't change anything.
I just wasn't sure if it's generally normal, that the pins are not straight upwards like on amd cpus. But I already saw on some other pictures that that seems to be normal. The pins are all equally and none of them is at another height level. So that doesn't seem to ba a problem.
