Z87-g45 can't reboot and cant't shutdown

well , when shutdown the machine in the OS the monitor will be turned off and I heard of disc stop running. BUT the board was still running all the fan is running include the fan of the graphic card
So any suggestions?

I just returned home from a visit to the Genius Bar. Like you and many others, when I upgraded my iPad 2 to IOS 8, it became practically unusable. It was VERY slow, lagged whenever trying to to do anything. Lots of screen freezes and apps spontaneously crashing. I was convinced that the processor on the iPad 2 just couldn't handle the new IOS and I went in to see about restoring to IOS 7.
Thankfully, I was hooked up with a very sharp guy at the bar. The problem is not with the OS, it is with it being an *upgraded* OS. He used the analogy of when you had an older Windows computer and how over time (and over upgrades), they just tended to get slower and slower because of all of the garbage that was carried forward in the upgrades. At those times (and if you've ever had a Windows computer, you get this), the only thing that would speed it up would be to wipe the machine and do a fresh install of the current OS and then reload your apps, and the viola, everything would be fast again. Well, it turns out that IOS can suffer the same problems.
THE FIX: FIRST, be sure you have a current iCloud backup of your device. Connect your iPad to a computer that has a clean fresh copy of IOS 8 on iTunes (this is best done with a computer other than the one that you sync your device to because you DO NOT want to restore it from a back up just yet). Ideally, if you do this at an Apple store you'll be assured of the right version there and someone to answer any questions you might have along the way. You then hold the power and home button down to hard-reset the device and continue to hold them down until it reboots into recovery mode. You then follow the instructions on the computer to reinstall the OS on the device (which wipes everything from it and then reinstalls a clean copy of it). Once this is done (which only takes about 15 minutes), your device will reboot and ask you to set it up. Answer the questions about language, location, etc. and continue until it asks you to log into your iTunes account. Once you do that, it will ask if you want to either 1) Set it up as a new device, 2) Restore from iCloud, or 3) Restore from iTunes. Choose (2), restore from iCloud. This will ensure that it brings down "clean" copies of all of your apps and preferences rather than the potentially corrupted ones that might reside in your iTunes backup. That's it! It will take a few hours depending on how much data and apps you have, but I am happy to report that my iPad 2 is now running IOS 8 and it's running as fast as it ever did when it was brand new!
To sum it up, this process 1) Wipes your device and the garbage causing your problems, 2) Loads a clean and bug-free version of IOS 8 to your device, and 3) restores your apps and data so that it looks just like it did before the wipe, with the exception that it works now! :-)
Note also that by following this process you don't have to go through the painful and laborious process of reloading all of your apps, data and/or settings. iCloud takes care of all of that for you.

Z87 G45 bios splash reboot cycle

I built my machine 16 months ago. i was told MSI all the way when building if can as great quality components.
I got an i7 4770k, 8gb ram, msi lightning 780, msi z87 g45 gaming board.
Never once overclocked a single thing, didnt need to as it stood strong against the games I play.
I was playing elder scrolls few days ago when all of sudden a got a reboot of the machine, the 780 fans went crazy full, the lightning logo showing green as normal but it wouldn't load past bios screen. I could enter bios no problem. But nothing seemed to get past bios splash. I tried the 780 in a second machine, same issue but now no video at all, fans on full, logo lit up green, moniter wont even see its connected to anything.
I tried loading from onboard video on my machine without 780 connected. Same thing, cant get past bios splash just reboots self. I have tried flashing bios to 1.9, tried reinstalling windows, it finishes windows installation reboots and bios cycle again.
Took to a pc repair they don't know whats wrong they checked psu, memory tested for 17 hours, totally stumped.
This rig has never been overclocked once ok, never overheated as always made sure was cool and clean inside case.
Needless to say I am extremely unhappy and disappointed with MSI. I have made several machines over the years and never once seen this, I bought the card for £380 and the motherboard £130. I expected it to last longer than the cheaper machines I built. Not both MSI components crashing out in 16 months.
Does anyone know anything else I can try to salvage any of this?

I don't have a second cpu to try.
The thing is in the bios it shows the cpu, the ram, hard drive etc ok. I can even install windows from disk, but at end windows does a reboot then I get stuck at bios splash cycle. When I took the pc to repair store they advised did the memtest and other things, they managed to get a windows installed after several bsod and clearing cmos as last effort and then they managed to get windows going but they were quite honest and said they don't really know if fluke or not. They tested all they could and believe it a software issue possibly with board, now issue is back again.
My PSU is 850W, they tested it and said its fine and no issues with it.

Help! Can't overclock new Z87-G45 Gaming without Event 41 Task 63 shutdowns

I'm running into a frustrating problem with Event 41 Task 63 "unexpected shutdowns" when I'm trying to overclock the computer I recently built. The machine shuts down instantly and seemingly randomly under light load, often when it's idle. It doesn't BSOD, there's no crash dump, and the bug check codes are all zeros in event viewer. It doesn't shutdown while stress testing or playing games. It's certainly not overheating.
If I run the processor at default clock this doesn't happen, or at least, it hasn't so far. But when I dial in a modest 4.2ghz overclock, it'll reliably happen once or twice daily. The thing is, my overclock will stress test for 24 hours stable with every program I've tried (Intel Extreme Tuning Utility, AIDA64, Prime95) and passes Intel Burn Test 10 passes at very high. It only seems to generate the Event 41 errors while idle or web browsing.
Steps I've taken so far that have not solved the problem:
- replaced PSU
- replaced memory
- checked cable connections to motherboard
- flashed bios to latest
- updated all drivers to latest
- disabled C-states
- disabled adaptive voltage and dynamic multiplier
- disabled sleep in Windows power plan
- disabled all but one audio driver
- verified hard drive passes dskchk
- verified memory passes memtest 12 hours
- verified sfc/scannow gives no errors
I'm close to abandoning overclocking but that's disappointing.

Can anyone suggest to me what might be going on here?
I've tried raising vcore to 1.19 and running fixed voltage with no difference.
Are there other settings I should try changing? One thing, for example, is that I've left vdroop control on auto. I have different % options in the MSI bios, should I start experimenting? I read that Haswell has little vdroop so I didn't mess with it.
Is it right to assume this isn't a motherboard problem, since I don't seem to get the unexpected shutdowns when I'm running stock clocks? I think I've ruled out the PSU and ram since I've replaced them both, so if it's a hardware issue I think it's got to be the motherboard.

auto offset settings (vcore/vrin) - also tried .001 offset as well
turned off and on c-states

ram timing and volts to auto or manual timings of 9-10-9-28-2 1.5V which were found on the box of ram
ive ran memtest+86 for 4 runs with no problems
sfc/scannow -checked out ok
ran antivirus/malware
ccleaner
lowered cpu multiplier to x40
i passed AIDA64 and prime95 with 6 hours each with vcore at 1.2 but its reboots randomly when on light load like internet browsing.

Z87-G43 can't reboot - how to update BIOS?

Hey all, today I built a new PC with an MSI Z87-G43 mainboard and an i5-4690 CPU.
I have the problem that the PC can't reboot or reset, instead the PC just keeps running and doing nothing whatsoever.
This seems to be a known issue and the solution is to update BIOS + ME firmware.
For an explanation on how to do that everyone keeps linking to this topic. But to be honest, I don't understand what I have to do now :( (Also, I have never done a BIOS update in my life, and I am kinda scared of the warnings that it can brick the system...)
Could someone tell me which files exactly I have to use for this specific mainboard?

That part of the serial number is 1402, so slightly too early I guess? In the BIOS setup it says V1.6 as well, screenshot:

This happens whenever the PC should reboot: When I select "reboot" in Windows, it shuts down and then black screen. Whenever I press the reset button, I just get the black screen. Also e.g. after exiting the BIOS. The problem existed already before I installed Windows, so wrong settings there can hardly be the reason.

NWDS can't deploy and cant' search

Hi Everyone,
I need you help:: my NWDS has 2 major problems now:
1) Can't Deploy: when goto J2EE DC Explorer - right click on my custom project I don't get dropdown menu anymore, so I can't seleect Development component / Deploy
2) Can't Search: I got error "No Search Extensions plugged into workbench or all search pages disabled" when select Search.
I reinstalled NWDS but the same problems still occur. Seems Package Explorer is still working (I can Edit files and DC/build...).
Any advises / suggestions? Please HELP.

Although you need not to save anything but to be more safe side, take a backup copy of your complete workspace.

MSI Z87-G45 Can't find SSDs after BIOS update v1.9

So I updated the BIOS to v1.9 using MSI Live Update 6 just cuz I was lazy.
After reboot my Samsung SSD 840 EVO couldn't be found, didn't show up in BIOS System Information either. My WD HDD was found without problems though.
I rebooted a few times and eventually the disk was detected, but after rebooting again it didn't show up any more. Turns out it only showed up about 1/10 boots.
I installed a new Samsung SSD 850 EVO just to test it out, but it wasn't detected either, still only the HDD. Same symptoms, only once in a while were the SSDs ever detected.
So I eventually downgraded the BIOS (put it on a USB stick this time) to v1.8 and now they are all found 100% of the time.
Fun times.

Out of curiosity: did you clear CMOS after flashing BIOS to 1.9?
And what way did you downgrade? What if you would use this method to install 1.9 again?

Z87-G45 won't reboot?

Hello all!
I recently finish my build, and upon initial testing my MSI board booted into BIOS. Without changing anything, I turned it off and went to dinner. Upon returning, I plugged in my cd drive and hdd to try and get an OS and now I have no output. I tried reseating the video card, moving the hdmi input directly to the motherboard, unplugging the other components and USB stuff....nothing. I even tried taking the mother board battery out and putting it back in after 10 minutes out of desperation.
Is there anything I'm missing here or is my motherboard mysteriously shot?

Try the card in the second slot, if that is of no help, flash the bios to the most recent release and retest.

If still no help, try the card in another computer or another card in your computer to verify where the problem lies.

Can't reboot (Z87-G45 Gaming)

I have a rather strange problem and am hoping someone from MSI might have a few suggestions.
I recently upgraded my rig with a new mobo and cpu. I went with a gigabyte Z87-d3h and immediately noticed that my pc would not reboot, it just sits there with a black screen although I do hear the hard drive doing something. My old AMD computer had worked fine with the components I kept, namely the ram, PSU and graphics card. So I came to the conclusion that the motherboard was faulty and sent it back.
I decided to try a different brand and went for the MSI-Z87-g45-gaming. Sadly I have exactly the same problem which was rather baffling.
Some more details about the behaviour:
- If I unplug the graphics card, and just use onboard vga, it DOES reboot fine.
- When using the graphics card, it does actually reboot normally some of the time, I would say about 20%.
- the behaviour is the same whether I am in windows or rebooting from the BIOS
- I was using bios 1.4 and I saw that 1.5 had an updated graphics output driver. Excitedly I updated to 1.5 and indeed it rebooted fine a couple times, but then reverted to old behaviour
Are there any BIOS settings I could try to see if i can fix this?

Upon the non win8.1 updates being finished, i booted into the bios and reset all the settings to default. So far it has been restarting without any problems for windows setup stuff, which is a good sign as when i was installing just the base win8, it had to restart and got locked up in that black screen. Ill have to narrow down what in the bios triggers the issue, but i believe that it is something to do with fastboot as nothing else really makes sense. Worst case its the OCGenie button, or OCing the ram that was doing it, but im not sure if you were doing those so that may or may not be a similar thing that you are doing.

when i went into disk utilities and chose to clean my free space i left it over one hour to do its stuff
i came back and there was no progress bar just the box so i quit the program and when i opened mac mail the system just froze i forced quit mail rebooted and blue screen death
Now when free space is being cleaned is it the same as windows dose the utility write lots of 0 on the hard drive then rebbot its self to free the space
basicly is my hard drive full of 00000 is this why im getting this message because the process was interupted

Hi, MSI Z87-G45 Gaming and Sapphire 290X, gpu fan is spinning, but black screen, only int. graphic is working. Downloaded all updates, bios 1.7 for mobo.... what else.....Any ideas?

Problem regarding Z87-G45 and graphics card

Hey guys, I upgraded my PC yesterday and only kept the graphics card from my old one because it was pretty decent. PC now looks like this:
MB: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming
CPU: i7 - 4770K
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 1600 Mhz (2x8GB)
PSU: bequiet! Straight Power E9 600W
and my trusty ASUS Geforce GTX 660 Ti
So basically I installed a copy of Windows 7 on my new SSD, installed the Drivers that came with the MB, and proceeded to download the new nvidia drivers because my graphics card was only being recognized as "standard vga video card". When I rebooted the system my PC froze at the Windows Logo and then rebooted itself over and over, getting stuck at the windows logo. Some times I got onto the desktop, could even open my browser etc. but that only lasted for a couple of seconds. Safe Mode was working fine though and it recognized the card and drivers. So I googled a bit, tried the card in my old PC and it was working fine.I tried my old GTX 260 but that gave my screen a very red-ish tone. Then I set up Windows again and installed every single chipset driver and MB driver, using mainly the MSI Live Update without my card in the system. It's running on the CPU's GPU atm. Then I plugged in my 660 Ti and didn't even get sth on screen this time. Now I've unplugged it again and am using the CPU graphic engine.
I'm kinda lost by now, I really don't know what else to try and I haven't found a solution I haven't tried on google.
So I wanted to try my luck with you guys: Am I doing something wrong? Am I missing some distinct BIOS features? Or is my MB/graphics card dying on me? And out of those options, which is the most likely?
Anyways, any help is much appreciated.

Edit: if that so then try other storage then your SSD for the os. just to get it out of picture...
You dont need to "validate" it for test so dont!!!! just set it to get validation later via manual or what ever els it says.
Edit 2: What if you brack the BD cake and insert that VGA to secend PCI-e x16 slot?
Edit 3: Samsung 840 have new FW too. So see if yours have one.

MSI Z87-G45 reboot issue

I build a gaming system based on a MSI Z87-G45 motherboard. Everyting is working fine with windows 8.1.
I can boot, shutdown, suspend, ... but i can't reboot. When I reboot, from os or from bios, my screens go to black and the fans continue spinning. The computer do not reboot. Never. I have to press the power button for 4s, and the once more in order to manualy reboot.
I'm running the 1.9 bios with stock settings. All my drivers are up-to-date (dowloaded from the product support page). I think that the problem is bios related since I can't reboot properly from it. Oh yes. I've got the A2 code.
I tried different settings like to set the wake options from os and so but it didn't work.
And I've got a RM750 psu and i'm not drawing so much power out of it.
Any ideas?

I had chosen to update the 1.9 bios with M-Flash but I hadn't chosen the bios+me option. Now i've done it and it works. No me driver reinstall needed.

in addition to the ssd, i have 2 other HDD's. my problem is that i have the SSD at the sata 2 port and the other hdd's in two others and every so often when i leave my computer off for an hour or more, the computer does not recognize the SSD when i turn it back on. however, when i unplug all other hdd's, it can detect the ssd. plugging back and forth does nothing as long as there is another hdd plugged in with the ssd, but if i leave the computer on at the bios for 30 or so minutes, it miraculously starts working again.
what can i do to alleviate this...? this is getting extremely annoying

I guess one of them must be set as bootable because I get some kind of "Windows cannot be found" error every time until I manually go into the BIOS and reset it. Rebooting my PC works as expected; this is only occurring with a shutdown.
It's almost like the CMOS battery is dead or something, but it's a brand new mobo and the system time remains correct.
Any ideas?
It is just a firmware issue. I got this fixed by updating the firmware of the SSD. May be you can also give a try to update the BIOS firmware as well. This will surely help. Older versions of Vertex have had this issue which has been successfully addressed by the firmware fix. Hope this helps!
