Z87-G45 compatible with intel i5 4690k

So recently I bought a z87-g45 gaming mobo and it has come to my attention after I recieved my pcu that it needs a bios update to work. I was wondering if there was any way for me to update bios without having to go get an older pcu or replacing the board. If there is a way can someone explain step by step please

Hi,
You can't update BIOS without appropriate (compatible) CPU with currently used BIOS.
But my suggestion is that you go to some local PC repair center and ask them if they can flash it for you. No risk of bricking the board and no need to get compatible CPU yourself

  • Is MSI Z87-G45 compatible with Be Quiet Dark Rock 3 and TridentX ?

    Hello,
I have a MSI Z87-G45 and 2 DDR3 TridentX (from 40 mm tall without heatspreader to 53mm with it) in dual channel mode.
I'd like to mount a Be Quiet Dark Rock 3 with rear air extraction, front heatsink fan, and my DDR3 in dual channel mode (slot 2 and 4). Is it compatible or will I encounter clearance issue with DDR3 ?
    Thanks

I bought the Dark Rock 3 from Be Quiet and I confirm that it is perfectly compatible with both TridentX and MSI Z87-G45 but we have to sacrifice the DDR's first slot (2, 3 and 4 still available).

  • Is MAC Pro (late 2013) compatible with Intel E5 or E7 Series 10 core CPU

Is MAC Pro (late 2013) compatible with Intel E5 or E7 series 10 core CPU?

    http://macperformanceguide.com/MacPro2013-CPU-upgrade.html
Someone did some testing and these Xeon processors scale differently, turbo-boost means it can put a core to sleep when it isn't needed and give more to the cores that are.
But, the number of apps that do use more than 8-core are in short supply.
Then there is the contention between cooling and whether the cpu or the twin GPUs get preference, OS X won't allow both to ask for full 100%.
We assume you know all there is about cpu scaling and usage and just need to see which ones are on Intel's list that are pin compatible and have the right thermal requirements and such.

  • IMovie plug ins not compatible with Intel Macs

I need a page turn transition for an iMovie 6 project I'm working on. I downloaded one from cfx, but apparently a lot of the plug ins are not compatible with Intel Macs. Anyone out there have any suggestions?

Any GeeThree plug-in that uses flash will no longer work, which include all the WildFX plug-ins. Apple did away with flash support in Quicktime 7.3.1 or newer! Now iMovie is basically unusable without the very cool & professional GeeThree plug-ins. If Apple keeps this up iMovie will probably go the way of the dinosaur. I've talked to Apple about this and they responded "why don't you buy Finalcut Pro". It's what Apple does best, Farm the base.....

  • BT voyager 205 compatible with intel macs?

Anyone in UK know if BT voyager 205 is compatible with intel macs?
Ive just found out my old speedtouch USB330 isnt yet intel mac compatible and need to buy a cheap new one.
    Thanks

    Steve,
Don't worry about it... and a warm welcome to Apple Discussions
Unfortunately, there isn't a way, currently, to remove posts although you do have a 15 minute window to make any modifications.
I suspect the 205 that you received and did not work was either faulty or was not set up properly.
Your recommendation of the 210 is a good one and if they are priced similarly then, as I said, the 210 would be a better investment.

  • HT1557 where do i find Universal Binary Component compatible with Intel-based Macintosh that allows quicktime to show video?

where do i find the link to the Universal Binary Component compatible with Intel-based Macintosh that allows quicktime to show video?

I think your question is too vague to get an answer.
You're asking for a 'Universal Binary component' for your 'Intel-based Macintosh'. Why universal binary?
universal binaries are designed to work on both PowerPC and Intel machines. If you're using an Intel machine why do you need PowerPC support?
Also, you want something that 'allows QuickTime to show video'. Well, not to be glib, but QuickTIme does video - that's it's raison d'etre. Therefore I think your question is more about how to get QuickTime to show a specific (non-standard?) video format. Without knowing what that format is, it's impossible to answer your question directly.
That said, maybe the place to start is Apple's QuickTime Components index.

  • Z87 G45 BSOD with 4 sticks G.Skill.RipjawsX

    Hey guys.
I'm writing here in hopes that maybe MSI engineers can also look into this. Hopefully a new BIOS version could be release, if not I would be forced to RMA my motherboard and hope it's not BIOS related.
I am using my Z87 G45 with 4 sticks of G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR1600 CL9. Problem is I get BSOD's with this ram. However, it's 100% not ram related, but motherboard.
    Scenarios:
-If I use only 2 sticks at a time in pair, no matter which pair of the 4 sticks, and no matter in what DDR slots, I get no BSOD (XMP can be on or off)
-I have used 4 sticks of Kingston from a friend (DDR1333) at the same time, no BSOD (they did not had XMP profile)
-I have gave my friend my G.Skill sticks, and he used all 4 together in his machine, no BSOD (XMP on or off)
-I have ran the latest version of memtest for over 18 hrs, 0 errors found.
The only time I am getting BSOD's is when using all 4 sticks of the G.Skill Ripjaws on this MSI Z87 G45 mobo. XMP can be on or off, it will still BSOD. The codes are always different, but the most frequent ones are 3b.
Of course I have updated my BIOS to the latest v5, since both v4 and v5 stated improved memory. Unfortunately it does not fixes my problem.
It looks like unless there is a new BIOS update that fixes this memory issue, my only alternative is to RMA the board, or in worse case, hope MSI will give me a different type.
    EDIT:
    Board: MSI Z87-G45
    Bios: Version 1.5
    VGA:   ASUS 7970 DC
    PSU:   Corsair TX850M

Sorry, it is you who are wrong, as you fail to accept that the mixing of 2 kits of RAM can bring with it failure. If a replacement factory matched RAM kit doesn't work when he gets it, then I would blame the rubbish manipulated garbage SPD programming or quality of the chips. If struggling with problems with a G.Skill product since July, maybe it's time for you to wise up and switch to Corsair or some other brand. As the forum prohibits open arguments, which this is going to advance to, this will be my last response to your useless remarks. And yes, as a matter of fact, I 'do' have Z87 experience on MSI boards.
Corsair RAM does 'very' well on them.
First off,  why don't you actually research this issue related to running some of the early Z87 boards with 4 sticks,  its not restricted to G.Skill Ram some people are having issues with Corsair too (Gasp,  no not Corsair!! they are awesome!) ,  second I have a 4pc matched kit from G.Skill.
So this issue exists when using 4 slots on Z87 boards MSI & Gigabyte (Ive tried both), matched or unmatched,  timings between channels linked or unlinked,  XMP on or off.
To the poor soul being misguided by these "Gurus",  please try the following this how I was able to get the system stable.
Limit CPU C State to C2
Set your RAM to 1600 XMP
Enter manual overrides timings of 2-9-9-9-27
LOWER your RAM voltage one peg 1.425 (Makes a huge difference)
Required reading for this issue,  will make the Corsair fanboys cry.

  • Is Flash CS4 not compatible with Intel Graphics (laptop)? Really?

    Hi!
I'm graphic and animation designer. My company buys CS4 suite
including Photoshop & Flash. And I'm buying a laptop and now
choosing between one having Intel Graphics and another with ATI
Radeon. Intel has some features I need, but after googling, finding
    and reading this topic:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx?14@@.59b6c473/0
till the end, I see it does not fully support Photoshop
CS4!!! I also need Flash CS4 working, so does it support Flash?
So can you still recommend me buying intel integrated-laptop
or should I take an ATI Radeon powered one? I need Flash working
without annoying compatibilites problems. I don't want to buy an
Intel one, if it is not Photoshop- and Flash- compatible....
    Thank you!

    Anne,

    > till the end, I see it [an Intel chip] does not fully
    support
    > Photoshop CS4!!! I also need Flash CS4 working, so does
    > it support Flash?
It's important you understand what "fully support" means in
    this
context. According to Eric Palmer's Dec 4 reply (12:11pm),
    Photoshop CS4
does, in fact, run reliably on systems with Intel graphics.
    Eric purports
to be an Intel employee, but obviously there's no proof of
    that.
Regardless, his assertion jibes with with I hear from
    colleagues with Intel
    graphics chips.
It's not as if Photoshop suddenly fails if you happen to
    choose, say,
red from the color swatches. It's not as if Photoshop fails
    to export GIFs
on Intel machines. The only thing you're missing -- and this
    is true for me
too, even though I don't have Intel equipment -- is
    functionality that
relies on OpenGL. One of these features, for example, lets
    you rotate the
canvas while you work on a file. I don't mean rotate the
    image itself ... I
mean rotate the actual work space without resampling the
    image, just as if
you were rotating the piece of paper on which you were
    drawing. Granted,
that sounds like a neat feature (I'd like to experiment with
    it, myself!),
    but it's not a deal-breaker.
As far as I've seen, the Flash CS4 authoring tool doesn't
    rely on any
    OpenGL-accelerated features.

  • Need Sound Card Compatible With Intel D975XBX Mobo and Windows 7

Did a search and no joy. I built a home theater computer about 5 years ago around the D975XBX,? I was using the Sigmatel integrated sound via toslink to my receiver without any problems. I installed W7 yesterday only to find that there are no Intel mobo drivers for W7. So before I go throught he hassle and expense of replacing the mobo and processor, are there any sound cards that are compatible with this mobo and W7? I don't do gaming on this machine, or 3D, mainly 5. out to my receiver. Thanks.
    Tim?

DWell, I'll answer my own question. Finding it very hard to belei've that a driver wasn't available for the Sigmatel, I upgraded the Bios, then did another seach. Cha-ching, money!
I really like SB cards, but I don't like spending money when I don't have to.
Even though Intel said it stopped supporting?the mono?in '08, the bios was an '09 version. This may be helpful to others who are using this mobo.

  • Is Canon ip5200 compatible with Intel Tiger or isn't it?

I have a Canon Pixma ip5200 and a (fairly) new Intel iMac with OSX Tiger. I am getting fed up with being unable to access the full range of settings - even such mundane things as print quality - when using certain applications. Photoshop and Acrobat are fine, I can select whaever I want, but apparently everything else is a problem. For example, I'm now using Firefox, I select File > Print, and find half the printing options in the dialogue box are scored out. If I try to select one, I get (for example), "This panel is not compatible with your computer. Contact the printer manufacturer for the latest version of your printer software. QualityMedia380 version 3.8.0, Copyright CANON INC. 2001-2005 All Rights Reserved.
    Link to a screenshot here:
    http://homepage.mac.com/towny/printdialogue.png
What's going on here? I have a new computer and, apparently, the latest driver (the newest version on the Canon website was issued last February). The dialogue box in 'About ip5200' says the driver is v4.4 (161.6), copyright Apple. The dialogue box above says the incompatible bits are copyright Canon. I'm confused.
One further piece to the puzzle - I found that if I set Comic Life to run through Rosetta, all printing options became avaiable. Most of them weren't by default. Sadly I can't choose Rosetta for all my apps (and I'm not sure that's supposed to be a good idea anyway).
Please, someone, save me from this insanity!
Intel iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Aside from emailing Canon UK to ask them (which I'm
going to do now) is there anything else I can try to
    make this work better?
I downloaded the driver pack from Canon's UK site and took a look at it. Everything in that pacakge is indeed a Universay Binary, so the driver should run natively on your Intel Mac.
A couple of observations. The screen shot you posted showed "QualityMedia380". That may be clue. In the package I downloaded from Canon, there is a PDE called "QualityMedia416.pde". This might indicate that you have some older stuff installed that is conflicting with the proper operation of your drivers.
Additionally, I see that the Canon drivers that are reported to be installed on Intel Macs is version 4.1.5. Again, this is older that the current drivers.
It might be worth your while to go to /Library/Printers and delete the "Canon" folder and any printer queues you have created for the Canon printer. For good measure, I would recommend you restart your computer. This shouldn't be necessary, but it will ensure a clean start of the printing services. Now reinstall the Canon 4.1.6 drivers that are on the Canon UK site and set up your printer.
If there was some old stuff interfering, this may solve the problem. If the problem persists, at least you can report that you have a clean install of the Canon drivers when you contact them.
    Hope this helps.

  • MSI P55 GD80 compatible with Intel COre i7 Extreme 965

hye there, i just wanted to know is the new p55 GD80 fits with intel core i7 extreme 965??..
as far as i concern, p55 mobo compatible with any i5 or i7 board, is that true.?

    The p55 stands for the chipset , so it's a p55 chipset and no x58 chipset ,.
    The p55 is only compatible with cori i5 and core i7 starting with 8... ( 860 , 870) it support only dual channel memory and not triple like the core i7 9... (920 , 940 , 950 965 ,975).
The core i5 and core i7 860 ,870 has the pci-e controller integrated so you have only 1x16 or 2x 8x8  or 1x8 and 2x4 for triple sli in sli or crossfire. The core i7 9.... with x58 chipset have 2x 16 pci-e or 1x16 and 2x8 for triple sli , so for highend multi gpu's the x58 has a advantage and it has triple channel memory , but it is a small advantage.
See here the socket  it support and if it has hyper-treathing or not.
The core i5 750 has no hyper-treathing the core i 7 does, no matter what socket ( 1156 or 1366)

  • MSI-7293 compatible with Intel Core 2 duo E7600 proessor?

Hi, I'm trying to revive an old tower system and a mate of mine gave me one of these mobo's with a Celeron Dual Core E1200 installed.
This processor is a bit too anaemic for my purposes and was hoping to install the E7600 Core 2 Duo but I'm not entirely sure the CPU is compatible with the board.
The CPU is an LGA 775 and this board is supposed to support Core 2 Duo and also 1066FSB so all looks good from that point of view. But as this seems to be an "early" 775 mobo and the E7600 a much later CPU I wanted to be sure before buying one.
The board has BIOS version VF1120 if that helps.
Also if the 7600 is compatible any opinions on whether the heatsink/fan combo from the celeron would be sufficient for the 7600 as both CPU's have the same max TDP (65W)?
    Any advice gratefully received

There is no MS-7293 retail board: http://www.msi.com/service/search/?kw=MS-7293&type=product
What you have is an oem board made for Fujitsu (http://download.ts.fujitsu.com/WDB/FAQContentstart.asp?ID=23388551&Info=SA&Todo=Fullsearch&Sprache=en&LNG=COM&RN_FAQ=Search%20result)
This forum only covers retail MSI products not oem ones. For question concerning cpu support ask the pc manufacturer because he determines what cpu is supported. As your board is an old VIA PT890 chipset board chances are slim anyway.

  • Pc laptops Compatible with Intel Wireless Display (WiDi)

I am perplexed and am in need of information/understanding/a reality check.
I recently bought a Lenovo Z570 laptop that was explicitly advertised as supporting Intel Wireless Display (WiDi). I also bought a Belkin Screencast adaptor.
The computer arrived and there was the WiDi shortcut on the desktop. I plugged the Screencast adaptor to my tv through an HDMI cable and set the tv to the correct channel for the input. Great so far!
Per Intel's list of updates (http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/iwd/sb/CS-033375.htm), I went through and updated the wireless driver and then the Graphics driver. When I tried to update the Intel Wireless Display software, the process was aborted. And my screencast said that the monitor display could not be sent to tv.
After a lot of searching, I realized that my i5-2450M processor does not appear on Intel's list of compatible processors. System requirements can be found at http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/iwd/sb/CS-031059.htm which says that the processor must be:
    ONE of the following:
    Intel® Core™ i7: 640M; 660LM; 640LM; 620LM; 620M; 610E; 690UM; 680UM; 660UM; 640UM; 620UM; 660UE; 2710QE; 2820QM; 2720QM; 2635QM; 2630QM; 2657M; 2649M; 2629M; 2620M; 2617M; 2540M; 2520M; 2510E; 2640LM; 2620LM; 2630UM; 2610UM; 2530UM; 2920XM
    Intel® Core™ i5: 580M; 560M; 540M; 520M; 480M; 460M; 450M; 430M; 580UM; 560UM; 540UM; 520UM; 470UM; 430UM; 2540M; 2520M; 2410M; 2537M
    Intel® Core™ i3: 390M; 380M; 370M; 350M; 330M; 330E; 2310M
Strange, but at that point I was just angry that the store and/or Lenovo had made a whopping mistake. After all, the WiDi shortcut and program was on my laptop; there has to be a reason for that, right?
After a lot of searching, I haven't come up with any answers, only more questions. Here on Best Buy, I searched for pc laptops that support WiDi. A list of 36 or 37 machines came up as qualifying. However, in going through them one by one, only a handful have processors that appear on Intel's list for the System Requirements.
I am very confused. Is Intel's list out of date? But if that's so, why didn't my attempt to update and use the software work? Are bestbuy and costco and multiple laptop makers mistaken when they say a machine is capable of supporting Wireless Display? What the heck is going on? Can anyone help me figure this out?
The Lenovo is on it's way back, but I need a new laptop as my old one is literally falling apart. A new one with WiDi would be extremely useful for a disabled family member. I'm also stuck with the Screencast I bought now too. Beyond all that, I'm really curious what is going on. Am I just stupid or befuddled or . . .is there something I'm missing? Any help would be so, so appreciated. Thank you.

The notebook does fully support WiDi but for some unknown reason, yours simply did not work. The CPU specs from Intel list WiDi as a capability of the CPU and the notebook has the appropriate hardware.
