Z87-G45 Does it support Firewire from a pin position on MB?

.....an extention from the last post really.....the top panel on the Wavemaster case has a Firewire port and I was just wandering if the G45 supports firewire and where is the connector on board if it does.
I have no urgent need for firewire but the case has the option. I cannot see any reference to Firewire in the G45 manual.
As always, any advice and support would be very welcome.....many thanks in advance

simple answer is No!
firewire is a dead thing as the adoption rate was so low its not even worth putting a connection on a board for it any more since USB 3.0 came along!
firewire (IEEE1394) Bandwidth 400–3200 Mbit/s (50–400 MB/s)
USB3.0 Bandwidth is Upto 625 MB/s
as Firewire has such a low adoption rate its now irrelivent as USB 3.0 is better and is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.0 devices and nearly everyone has them as it was widely accepted among consumers!
Hi BB2K....I'm sort of glad about that, but at the same time didn't want to skip it if it was there buried somewhere in the corner. As you say I don't really know anyone using it except the film/video guys. Thanks for clarifying.

  • Does WCCP support traffic from different VLANs(mapped to VRFs)?

    Hello,
I have the following scenario from the WAN to the Data Center and from the WAN to the Branch:
    1. Router 2800/7200 with three (3) MPLS VRFs (VRF Lite)
    2. Switch 3750 with three (3) WAN VLANs (one for each VRF) and three (3) LAN User Traffic VLANs (one for each ASA Context) and one WAE VLAN
    3. WAE with WCCP enabled for one VLAN in the switch
    4. ASA with three (3) Contexts
    5. Three (3) Internal LANs (one for each Context)
In summary, there are three flows of traffic which are separated along the way from Branch to Data Center. WAEs are working for one VLAN(VRF1) and WCCP is enabled at the 3750 Switch to do the redirection (not in the router). The question is: does WCCP support traffic from different VLANs (similar to inline 802.1Q) and handle all three flows separate? If so, what should the configuration be at the switch and the WAE?
    Thanks.

The VRF awareness for 12.4(T) is still probably 8-12 months out. VRF aware WCCP features are definitely in the pipeline, but nothing has been publically published on availability timelines.
It's now publically available on the forum... but , I've only found it on the 3750 and 3550 documentation.
at the 3750 you will need to place the redirect statement on each of the VLANs, ip wccp 61 redirect in

  • Does Firefox support Firewire to download my camcorder as in XP?

I used to download video from my JVC camcorder to Windows XP and then Firefox via Firewire. Then I got a new computer with Windows 7 and now it doesn't recognize my Firewire card. Apparently W7 doesn't support Firewire. Will it work if I change to Firefox on the new computer?

Thanks for your suggestion. I tried to find drivers but to no avail. I e-mailed JVC who made my camcorder who said it will not work with W7 as it was designed to work with XP and they couldn't do anything to help!!
All I know is that the thing worked ok after I changed my old computer to Firefox so will it work if I change to Firefox on my new computer. Seems to me the obvious thing would be to try it and see!! Maybe....

  • Z87-G45 has High CPU Usage from "System Interrupts" from USB EHCI#2

After install of Z87-G45 Board and associated drivers the CPU was being consumed by high System Interrupts.  I finally tracked this down to the device named Intel(R) Series/C220 Series USB EHCI#2 - 8C2D device.  When I disable this in device manager the high cpu immediately drops to 0.1% or less and when I reenable it the CPU consumption goes back to 50% of one core of an i5-4670K under Windows 7 64-bit  Of course disabling it turns off most of the USB 2.0 ports.
I have unplugged all USB2.0 headers from the board, updated bios to 1.5, updated the device driver from 9.4.0.1017 to 9.4.0.1025 (7/31/2013), installed the new Intel ME 90 driver pack released  on 10/29 and none of this has helped.
Is this a faulty board or is there something else to try?

    Quote
It was a motherboard swap not a fresh install.
Hopefully you don't have any other problems. This is the recommended way to go.
    Quote
Problem solved.  For the benefit of others who may run into this kind of problem here is my solution.  Look for articles on "remove unused USB devices" as a guide.  You will be surprised how much junk is left installed on your system.  Anything ever plugged in will leave garbage behind.
Go to control panel->System->Advanced system settings on left then under Advanced pick Environment Variables at the bottom.
    Create a new variable name = devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices and value = 1
    logout/reboot
go to device manager and under view menu pick show hidden devices.
Now manually go through and remove all the grayed out devices, especially under the USB controllers section but worthwhile to remove all the old garbage.  Reboot when done.
As always make backups before you start.
    Good work

  • IPod does not support FireWire anymore

I have learnt it. Can someone give me the detail of such discontinued support of iPod devices. Thanks!

The iPod mini and the iPod 4th gen were the last to support FireWire for syncing.
The new iPods will still charge with FireWire.

  • Does arch support booting from an external firewire cdrom drive?

    as above?

If the mobo provides that function through bios provisions the arch system should boot.
EDIT:  There may be issues with udev and mkinitcpio to ensure the boot sequence is not terminated by the udev detection.

  • Does JMF support Firewire digital cameras?

To get right to it, I'm wondering if I will be able to capture video from a Firewire digital camera. This is in Windows with the newest JMF and a Unibrain Fire-i digital camera. Is it any different from capturing from a USB webcam?
That said, is this a viable way of capturing video ? Performance wise especially, I'm looking for 30 FPS+ and 640x384 resolution. I've been recommended using LabVIEW (got a license through school). I've got almost zero experience with LabVIEW, but this seems like overkill just to capture some video (?)

Java doesn't actually care about what hardware the video stream comes from, because all that Java does is use the VFW or DirecShow Windows interfaces to grab the video stream. If the firewire camera is VFW or DirecShow compliant, then maybe JMF will be able to capture from it.
Your best bet would be to see if JMStudio will detect it and show it. If so, then you're good to go with JMF. Otherwise, it may or may not work but it won't "work" very easily.

  • Does iPhoto Support RAW from Nikon D90?

I shoot in RAW. I had a D80 and iPhoto would import my RAW photo files ok. I just got a Nikon D90 and iPhoto will not import my files. Any ideas?
    Lee

    Lee:
In the meantime you might see if Adobe DNG Converter and Camera Raw 4.6 is compatible with the D90. That would let you convert the RAW files to the DNG (digital negative) format which iPhoto does support. There's other RAW converters available. Go to VersionTracker.com and search for RAW.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • OnLocation does not support input from Aja KONA?

I'm confused as to what the purpose of OnLocation is if it cannot support input via HDMI/SDI coming through an AJA KONA card?
Seriously, can anybody explain what the point of this application is? Capturing Firewire sources? Seems like it would be an easy update to add support for real capture cards, no?

but I did something goofy.........Open to any and all suggestions.
Figure out what you did goofy and then do the opposite.
Seriously, what have you done to troubleshoot this? There's any number of goofy things that you could do that may result in this issue. I'd start with reading the Kona manual and the rather extensive part in FCP about external monitoring.

  • Why is Super Charger on the list of software for Z87-G45?

The Z87-G45 doesn't support Super Charger why is that software in the package of utilities, on the disk, the website? Also Live Update suggests to download it (I understand Live Update is hardly supported by MSI) more importantly why is the software in the package on the website, and the disk that comes with the board?
When I contacted MSI directly it was practically a debate whether or not the Z87-G45 officially supports Super Charged or not. The conclusion was: if there is no red USB FP header on the board it does not support Super Charger. Obviously the Z87-G45 does not have the red USB header.
Not to be repetitive but I had to do some digging to figure out if Z87-G45 even supported Super Charger, it might suite MSI to remove the package from the official webpage of the board, Live Update, and the utility disk that the board comes with wouldn't it?

  • Is MSI Z87-G45 compatible with Be Quiet Dark Rock 3 and TridentX ?

    Hello,
I have a MSI Z87-G45 and 2 DDR3 TridentX (from 40 mm tall without heatspreader to 53mm with it) in dual channel mode.
I'd like to mount a Be Quiet Dark Rock 3 with rear air extraction, front heatsink fan, and my DDR3 in dual channel mode (slot 2 and 4). Is it compatible or will I encounter clearance issue with DDR3 ?
    Thanks

I bought the Dark Rock 3 from Be Quiet and I confirm that it is perfectly compatible with both TridentX and MSI Z87-G45 but we have to sacrifice the DDR's first slot (2, 3 and 4 still available).

  • PSE 8 does not support Nikon 7000D RAW files?

I just got a Nikon 7000D, and when I tried to open up one of the .NEF (RAW) files in PSE 8, it wasn't supported.  I researched the Camera RAW plug-in, and from what I can tell, PSE 8 is only compatible with Camera RAW up to version 6.2.  It looks like version 6.3 is only useable with PSE 9.
Camera RAW 6.2 does not support files from the Nikon 7000D, or at least the list I saw does not show it, so I did not download 6.2.  Is my only choice for being able to use PSE 9 with my 7000D to spend the money on PSE 9?   -Bill C

You could also download the standalone DNG converter and make DNG files (which you may be able to process in 6.2), or use the Nikon software to convert your files and do any additional editing in PSE.

  • Msi z87 g45 gaming supports supercharger

I wanted to know if my msi z87 g45 supports supercharger features

    So;
It won't let you charge phone/tablet (any USB device) when the PC is off as this board does NOT have red USB 2.0 header like this one:
    Quote
    http://64.183.18.101/faq/images/sc.jpg
Though with appropriate settings within BIOS you will be able to do this while PC is in sleep mode or simply running (super charger would increase voltage output of USB2.0 header)

  • Help. Tried to flash Z87-G45 to latest bios but now does not load

Hi I tried to update the bios today to latest version for the MSI Z87 G45 mb.
It started erasing the bios and got to about 64% and then said there was an error and rebooted.
Now nothing shows up on the screen. Power is on.
    I've reseated the ram.
    Reconnected all connectors
Removed battery for about 5-10 minutes.
    Tried shorting the clearcomos jumper
    Nothing.
Is there anything that I can do?

Take it to a shop with an SPI flash programmer device, or send it for warranty RMA to an MSI Service Center.
    Next time, use the archive and flash method found here;

  • MSI Z87-G45 Gaming, sound from USB mouse?

    Hi!
I have some issue from my new computer, see spec below.
For the information I have a MSI Z87-G45 motherboard.
I have some sound that occurs sometimes (specially during the first 2-5 minutes) when i move the mouse around.
It occurs as well sometimes when I been using the computer for a while, basically random just more frequently at the start-up.
It's hard to know from where the sound occurs, could be PSU but today I read something on another forum about the motherboard I'm using:
    - Higher sound quality using USB, thanks to special adapted current power.
So i wounder if this can be the case? Is that the reason why i get this noise from inside the computer?
Is there some way to disabled this "feature" in BIOS?
    Greetings

The sound sounds like the old mechanics hdd kinda.
It comes inside the computer, not the speakers.
My feelings is that it can be the PSU as well, just wanted to check this first, since it most often comes when i move my mouse.
