Z87-G45 front panel USB is SLOW

Ive had this computer running for about a year and all of a sudden it is SLOW via the front panel USB connections. The 3.0 port transfers at about 4-8mbs and the 2.0 about the same.
It use to fly through transfers with the 3.0 up in the 60-80 range.
This just happened overnight and not sure what to try to fix it.
Id rather not do a system restore.

Are you using Windows 8.1 ??
did you check if REAR USB 3.0 works ok??

  • Z87-G43 Board Front panel USB Problem

I have installed the board and windows 7 64bit
Updated the Bios and checked everything I could.  I do NOT get the connect tones from anything I connect to the front panel USB ports.  I have used 2 (KNOWN GOOD, works on other machines) connector sets with 2 ports each, and ALL of the ports have the same symptoms.  All of the usb devices have the connect tones when inserted to any of the rear ports.  I have not tried the USB3 port for the front because I do not have the wiring and related header connector.  My phone, (Samsung GS4) when connected to the rear ports always opens an explorer window showing the Ext SDCard and the Internal memory.  when I connect to any of the front panel ports, no sound, no pop-up of explorer, but I do see the device when I manually open explorer and can open the connection manually.
I am at a loss as to what is not right and how I can make it work correctly.  If anyone can give me any information to correct this, I'd be very grateful.  (Tech Support was no help)
Thank you, and Aloha From Hawaii!

    Thank you for your reply.
I have an older Antec Case and I have tried a brand new front panel connector I got from Frys and it acts the same Way.  the only difference is that the connector is a one piece assembly that connects directly to the mobo header pins. the one in the case has individual pin connectors.  both systems end up with the same scenario.  When I plug in a thumb drive, there is no connect or disconnect sound and I still can manually open explorer and access the thumb drive or my phone but nothing pops up to signify any port access.BTW, I am a systems engineer and have spent the last 13 years building machines for a transportation company (bus)  My previous board in the same case used the front panel connection and it worked just fine, but since the board died and was only supportive of XP I decided to upgrade to Win 7 64bit and have 16gb ram.  All the rear connectors work just fine, but I need all of them so have to use the front panel connection for phone, and thumb drive access.  I suspect the mobo has a design problem.  The tech support person had no suggestion to correct this problem too!  :<(

  • Front panel USB - Where to hook up?

I've just put together a system using the 845GE Max M/B. I would like to make use of the front panel USB ports on the case, but can't figure where to plug them in. I'm using the USB 2 card, and there's another USB jack on the M/b...
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

Looks to me like JUSB1 or JUSB2. It's in the manual.

  • Hp p6367c front panel usb ports: how do I access these?

There is a button in front along the side that I assume is supposed to open the expansion bay and provide access to front panel usb ports, but nothing happens when I press this button.

Please look the upgrade and service manual page 13. You will notice the DVD drive, the empty 2nd CD/DVD bay, maybe the pocket drive (if so equipped). Below that is the mystery USB ports, and audio ports.
The panel likely has a small tab, and the access panel flips up, or slides up/down. Without knowing the exact face plate design, it's difficult to know. But if you look at the manual, the mystery will be exposed.

  • Front Panel USB Power

    MSI P4M900M2-L, 945GCM5, G31M-F.
Does anyone know how to solve the problem when using Internal card reader + Bluetooth device on this motheroard, the Bluetooth can function normaly but card reader can't, when only disable bluetooth then the card reader can funtion. Both devices are plug in the motherboard JUSB 1 Slot (Front Panel). When plug in a USB Flash Drive and a External Harddisk to the front panel usb at the same time, the USB Flash can work but the Extrnal Harddisk can't.
Any solution for this? Is it the JUSB slot cant produce enough power?
    Thank you

The Bluetooth and Card Reader are 2 in 1 device that using a slot in Motherboard (JUSB), after login to windows, the bluetooth can function but when insert flash card the system cannot detect the card but when disable the bluetooth then the system can detect the flash card.
The Front Panel USB problem is when USB Flash Drive and External Harddisk using Front Panel USB slot, only the USB Flash can detect. (With or without card reader also same problem)
These problem seems like lack of power supply from motherboard and only allow 1 device run at the same time, although trying to change Ram, power Supply, Processor but the problem is the same. Customer claim that the card reader can run smoothly in Gigabyte and Intel motherboard, and dont know why these 3 model MSI 7255, 7267, 7345 facing the same problem.
What is the best solution to produce more or stable power or to allow these device run properly?

  • Problem with front panel USB connector

    Motherboard: MS-6750
I have a problem with my front panel USB connector JUSB2 not working.
I have checked the connection to be sure that it is oriented correctly.
I also made sure that it was enabled in the BIOS.
Still no luck.  There is not any voltage on this either.
I see a jumper or pin labeled JGS1 just below the JDLED1...do not know what this is and cannot find it in the manual.
Any ideas on what this is and how I might trouble shoot the USB connector?

Which 6570 MB do you have, if its the K7N2 Delta 2 Platinum and came with the Dled bracket try plugging that into that port on the mainboard  and see if those usb ports work as it could be the usb hub itself not working on the front. Hope this helps  Dok

  • Front panel USB connection to MB 990fxagd80v2

Hi Gents, new member here with some issues on me last build. I assemble my families computers , about one every 5 years. Other than that I am not hot in computers. So when I get into a build I have some homework and studying to do, and some glitches. At this moment my newest machine is up and running Win 7 with a few loss ends. My case is an USB 2.0 era with 2 ports in the front bottom behind a little door. Each USB cable has 3 wires ending in a flat 3 pin female plug. The motherboard has 2 USB male ports, 9 pins each, one coded blue the other red each one has an alignment notch. This MB came with a sack of M-connectors to be an easy transition between the front panel plugs and the Motherboard, so, 2 of the M-connectors are red and blue, and have alignment lugs that appear to be made for the USB ports on the MB. The problem is they do not fit. While I am gentle and careful I don't believe they fit. I have other front panel issues I'll save for another time. My Gazelle case seems to use different nomenclature than the motherboard. But the USBs are the issue now, anyone have some light on this subject? I would also like to convert one of the front USBs to 3.0.

"Each USB cable has 3 wires ending in a flat 3 pin female plug."
That can't be right as USB are 4 wire, red, white, green, black. Connectors are 5 or 10 pin plugs with no connection on the 5th pin not used on both types & 9 being the key on the 10 pin plug.
"I'm not sure is I have a variation from the standard MB or what..."
Any connectors, MB headers are standard throughout the industry therefore they will be the same from all manufacturers.
"or is the connection does not use m-connectors"
You should not need m-connector for USB anyway. m-connector was introduced mainly for front panel connections that had individual wires for each LED, switches and such. The set in the pic I show is from old P35 MB.
Can you post a photo(s) of the case connectors you have?
See here how to add photo's: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=90789.0
Personally I use Photobucket to host my pics.
M-connectors for USB should be clearly marked as such if the MB even came with any for USB. Over the years they have eliminated some and I think the ones for USB were eliminated.

  • MSI 770-G45 Front Panel

    hi everyone
i've a problem with the front panel connectors. last day i changed the cpu stock fan with a cooler master tx3 evo, when i installed the new cpu fan i removed and reconnected the motherboard that now it's causing several problems with the front panel connectors
the power pin works but the others dont, for example i've connected only the power pin and with a screwdrivers i've tried to connect the reset sw but it doesnt work.
i've tried the same thing with the hdd led and power led but nothing
i've also tried to reset the bios but the problem still exist
it's very strange that the power connector works but the others nothing, what do you think?
ps: i tried those things without the hdd,gpu and dvd drive...just cpu, power supply and motherboards

double check everything again, all connections, consult with mainboard manual for proper pins orientation

  • Z87-G45 and SOME USB 3.0 ports not appearing in tray/prompting to eject

The 2 lowest USB 3.0 ports on the back panel (Nearest the sound connectors) of my G45 have a weird issue under Win 7 Ultimate. When I plug in a 2.0 drive into those ports, everything is normal i.e. the eject icon and eject warning appear in the tray as usual. However, when I plug in 3.0 drives, no icon or warning appear, but they're fully accessible through explorer etc. USBView reports they're running at full speed, so they're being identified correctly. These 3.0 drives have all the proper messages/icons in all the other ports, including the 2.0 ports where it even warns me that it can perform faster in a 3.0 port. I've tried all the older/latest drivers from Intel and MSI. And ideas or suggestions? Just trying to figure out if my board has a problem or not. Thanks!

Do you just mean they aren't treated as removable drives?
There was an issue that was resolved via bios update similar to this.
Might want to try upgrading to the latest.

  • Connecting Front Panel USB & the option Bluetooth bracket!! HELP

Is there anyway to connect both of these modules at the same times.
According to the manual they both use the JUSB1 connector
Does this mean they have to be exchanged everytime you want to use either one?
I am using a MSI KT4 FISR motherboard

the JBT1 is for the Blue Tooth connector that you dont have, it is not for USB or the Dbracket. If you have 2 USB ports in the front of your computer and they are hooked into the JUSB1 connector on the mainboard than you have six USB ports in including the four iin the rear of your computer. Six is the maximum you can have unless you add on additional hardware. If you want to connect the D Bracket than you will have to disconnect the two USB ports in the front of the computer and all six USB ports will be in the rear of the computer.
    Hope that clears it up.

  • Z87-G45 Ethernet and USB problems. And BIOS flash problems

Hi. I kind of have a problem and hope you guys can help me.
I got this motherboard yesterday but I got a major problem with the Ethernet connection. It will simply not work, it’s totally dead. I have tried to enable everything that has to do with the Ethernet (Settings/advanced/intergrated peripherials) but it still will not work.  There is no light at the back side that indicates that there is signal when I plug in the cable. I have tried the cable on my laptop so I know there is signal.
There is no problem installing windows, but I can’t install the drivers for the ethernet. I get an error message then that there is no hardware that can use this drivers.
Are there any places in the BIOS where I can enable it? How can I get this up and running?
And my USB driver is kinda messed up too. My 120MB UBS pen is found and can be used, but my 64Gb flash pen and my 500Gb USB HDD will now work with the USB. I only get the USB "ping" connection sound over and over and over and over again with the windows error, drivers not installed.
The other thing about the USB is that every time I restart the PC, I have to unplug the mice and put it into an other USB to activate it.
I have tried to flash the BIOS, but when I try (after pushing m-flash and connecting the USB and finding the file), the whole BIOS just freezes up and nothing happens. I try to wait a bit but nothing happens. I have to manually restart the machine by "force" (Turning the power to PSU off and on again. Ayone know if there is a problem with flashing the BIOS from USB? Or maybe that the USB system is messed up? Any other way I can flash the BIOS?
I have downloaded all the latest drivers and updated.
    Best regards
    Robert

Again do not try to use MFlash. Try the board outside case like suggested.
THis is making me frusterated now......
I have now had the motherboard on my wood table with a antistatic tablecloth and antistatic armband.
I only plugged in 1 ram, power, a monitor and mouse/keyboard(USB).
I manage to get the USB pen bootable so I could do the memtest and biost flash.
The USB ports are still unstable. I still have to move my mouse and keyboard from slot to slot when I restart the machine. It feels like if random USB conection is being turned off and on for every time I start the computer.
    I connected a HDD to install Windows 7 64bit.
The computer will still not read USB storage with larger then my 120mb storage in both the BIOS and Windows (I suspect that 1GB is the limit for some rason). It only shows that USB device was not installed.
After I isntalled the USB 3.0 drivers that came with the mother board, the USB 3.0 system just stoped working. I tryed to update the drivers to the latest ones, but they still dont work. The USB 3.0 drivers do work in BIOS, but the drivers that came with the motherboard does not support windows 7 64bit. Or this motherboard.....
The ethernet conection is still FUBAR. When I try to install the drivers from the CD, the "LAN picture" is still grayed out. And when I try to force install the drivers, nothing will accept the network connectin. Trying to install the Killer Network Manager just ends up in "No supported hardware found in your system". It is like that the ethernet system is turned totally off.... But in the BIOS is marked as enable.
I have tryed to installe Realtek drivers, Intel drivers and the Atheos drivers, but non of them will install, all just say that there is no network that supports this drivers.
I am at my wits end right now. During the last 15 years I have build about 20 computers and this motherboard is taking 1st price for being the worse one ever.

  • FRONT PANEL USB 3 PORTS NOT WORKING.

I have just had a new ASROCK motherboard fitted to my HP Pavilion base unit as it failed after only eighteen months & even though everything is connected correctly my USB devices are not detected when plugged in. The USB 3 ports are the original HP Pavillion ports & cable configuration & plugged into the new ASROCK board.
    Specs:-
    ASROCK Motherboard: H61M-DG3/USB3. http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H61M-DG3USB3/?cat=Specif...
HP Pavilion 500-081ea base unit: http://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/HP-Pavilion-500-000...
    I running Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit.
    Can anyone please help?

Those should be fixed with a chipset driver, which is packaged in the HP graphics driver. Did you install that yet? Don‘t do express install, but rather the custom install and check everything.

  • Z87-G45 Case Audio Panel to Board Wiring Schema

    Evening all.
Got my RAID10 working a treat now thanks to the normal first class advice I've been getting here.
Have an old Coolermaster Wave Master case. Nice looking but a few years old now. Just struggling to pair up the audio panel wiring to the JAUD1 connector on the G45 MB.
    What I have:
    Audio panel wires (4) .... Blue-R Out, Purple-L Out, Green-GND and Yellow-Mic In
Struggling to match these (individual wires) to the JAUD1 pin positions. Grateful for any clarification before getting it wrong.
    Many thanks in advance

You probably won't get it to work properly.
You would really need something like one or the other of these: Silverstone Tek Aluminum 3.5-Inch Drive Bay with USB 3.0X4 and HD Audio Ports (FP32B-E), Tendak USB 3.0 1 Port 3.5 Inch Metal Front Panel USB Hub with 1 USB 2.1A Charging Port/1 HD Audio Output Port, Syba CL-HUB20113 2 Port USB 3.0 for 3.5-Inch Front Panel with 19 Pin Header Cable.
These are all at Amazon, I can't post external links yet but you can find them there under "Electronics" :
    "audio front panel".
I had same problem with my old CM Elite 330 case and decided to just get the inexpensive DIYPC Solar-M1-G Black SECC case you see in my signature instead at newegg for $40.
Rhradacut many thanks for the pointer...yeah I'm a bit OCD on not using ports and connectors....almost irrespective of need/functionality
Just looking up the ideas you mention....think they are more than solid for the job. Only thing that is hard to tell is the lead lengths to the JAUD1. In my case it's a fair old length from 3.5 bay to the rear offset JAUD1....I guess 60cm or so.....ahh sorry that's 2ft to you sir
Yes I think one of those is definitely the way to go....and in fact the Tendak one lists the cable length at about 50cm so I think thats the way to go.
Thanks for that, I hadn't thought of that as an option and in fact I do have a 3.5 bay spare...the rest are full of old coolermaster cool drive enclosures with the SSD's in....overkill but they look nice. Thanks again....I feel an ebay/amazon moment coming on!

Open your case and look at the your front panel USB and Headphone jacks.... look for a black cable and follow it with your fingers until you get to the end. Its should be plugged into your MOBO in a white socket. Carefully unplug it and plug it into a white socket on the top of your AUDIGY. The cable is barely long enough and you might have to mess with it to get it to reach........ that's it!!!!!!!! You can now use your front panel Headphone and USB jacks with your AUDIGY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
