Z87-G45 internet problems

When I boot into Windows, it takes about 10 minutes before I actually have any internet access. This is not a problem I had with my old system, so is unlikely to be my router.
Basically, when I reboot, the Qualcomm Atheros Killer Network Manager appears, and asks me to perform a speedtest.net test. The popup window appears, but is just a white area. While I wait for this to load, no other applications can access the internet, although the icon (Windows built-in icon, not the Killer network manager's) in my taskbar reports that I do have internet access from a wired connection.
After 5-10 minutes, the speedtest appears, and the rest of my system can communicate with the internet. The speedtest reports the wrong speed, though (if I retype new higher values and then retest, it does report the correct values). If I don't retype the values, everything is limited to the erroneous, lower speeds.
So:
A) How do I fix the 10 minute wait after boot before I can use the internet?
B) How do I stop the initial speedtest from reporting the wrong speeds?
According to MSI Live Update, I'm using the latest version of the network manager and drivers, but I can't find an actual version number to double check against.

The Killer drivers do seem to cause some issues with this board. I was getting BSODs at least once every 48 hours (usually ~12 hours) due to the Killer driver (e22w8x64.sys) if I left my PC idling.
I went through many, many steps to try to resolve it and here's what finally ended up working for me:
- Install drivers from mobo utility disc (just to get internet working in the first place).
- Go to the Killer site and download the latest Killer Performance Suite (or whatever it's called), as well as the Killer Cleaner.
- Uninstall the current driver package via Control Panel.
- Reboot.
- Run Killer Cleaner.
- Reboot.
- Install newest Killer Performance Suite.
- Reboot (at this point, I still had no connectivity and Device Manager had an error saying that Windows couldn't load the drivers).
- Uninstall the Performance Suite via Control Panel.
- Reboot.
For whatever reason, uninstalling the Suite seems to remove the extra software and then downgrades the driver instead of removing it completely. This allows my connection to work just fine, without any of the bloat.
I was in contact with Killer customer support to figure out how to get the updated drivers working, but have heard no response for almost two weeks now after they first requested my system diagnostics report. On the bright side, I haven't experienced a single BSOD.

  • Z87-G45 Graphics Problem!!!

I have a system i built a while ago and have always had a problem using any GPU. Ive tried numerous monitors and moving the card to all slots in my motherboard. Nothing seems to be working. All drivers are up to date according to Live Update.
About a week ago, i would get the lines during the MSI splash screen, and windows splash screen and then it would just open to my background but now i get absolutely nothing but this.
If i take the card out and run the motherboards graphics then it will boot up perfectly.
Im using an MSI Z87 G45 Motherboard, An i5 4440 CPU, and 8GB Corsair Ram.
I don't know if you need to know anything else, Im pretty new to this so i apologise for anything stupid i may put.. hah.
I would also like to point out I've tried a few graphics cards and they all also do the same thing.
    Thanks in advance!

Well, it will make a difference. Just make sure you go for something well known which has good quality.

in addition to the ssd, i have 2 other HDD's. my problem is that i have the SSD at the sata 2 port and the other hdd's in two others and every so often when i leave my computer off for an hour or more, the computer does not recognize the SSD when i turn it back on. however, when i unplug all other hdd's, it can detect the ssd. plugging back and forth does nothing as long as there is another hdd plugged in with the ssd, but if i leave the computer on at the bios for 30 or so minutes, it miraculously starts working again.
what can i do to alleviate this...? this is getting extremely annoying

I have a similar situation running a similar configuration:
    i5-4670k
    Z87-G45
    Gigabyte GTX 760
    8gb Corsair RAM
    750W OCZ PSU
    120gb Samsung 840 SSD
    (500gb HDD + 2x150gb Velociraptors in RAID 0)
I originally tried using an older OCZ Vertex 2 120gb SSD and ran into massive problems with it being erratically recognized in the BIOS (I was able to install Windows to it once, then never able to access it again). I guess that is due to some issue with the Sandforce controller I hadn't known about til reading through this thread.
I switched to my newer Samsung SSD and things are working "OK", but still not great. For some reason, every time I shutdown my PC, my BIOS gets cleared. Since I have multiple drives, it resets the hard drive boot order so that it tries to boot from my 500gb, then my RAID, then my SSD. I guess one of them must be set as bootable because I get some kind of "Windows cannot be found" error every time until I manually go into the BIOS and reset it. Rebooting my PC works as expected; this is only occurring with a shutdown.
It's almost like the CMOS battery is dead or something, but it's a brand new mobo and the system time remains correct.
    Any ideas?
It is just a firmware issue. I got this fixed by updating the firmware of the SSD. May be you can also give a try to update the BIOS firmware as well. This will surely help. Older versions of Vertex have had this issue which has been successfully addressed by the firmware fix. Hope this helps!

  • MSI Z87 G45 driver problem

I have a MSI z87 g45 motherboard along with a i5 4670K. I've downloaded all the drivers directly from the MSI website. But, I am unable to install intel_rst and intel_vga_mb. Windows says "system does not meet minimum requirements". I don't understand. Anyone got a solution?

Sounds like they are disabled in bios.
If you are using a discrete card and have multi monitor support disabled the IGD will be disabled by default.
Intel Rapid Start is disabled (and not really needed) by default so no worries.

  • Z87 G45 RAM Problem

    Hi
    I have the Z87 G45 mainboard and 4 dimms of ddr3 G.Skill Ares 16GAO.
The ram is a 16gb dual channel, but in order to get a post screen, only single channel dimm slot 3 or 4 or both work.
So I can have max 8gb of ram since only those two dimms work with the ram Ares modules.
When I get into uefi, I select no xmp profile, set the speed to 1600 but still nothing happens. I have updated the bios to the latest version 1.3 but nothing still.
In the bios it says 8gigs single channel.
Please any help is much appreciated

Back to the op, does a single stick in dimm 1 or 2 post? If no, have u checked the CPU socket pins?
u?  Agree with xmad if DIMM1 and DIMM2 are not working, there are bent or damaged pins in the CPU socket, or, CPU cooler improperly mounted, or, an errant standoff(s) underneath the mainboard shorting/grounding the DIMM slots. My bet is on the socket pins.
    Ram module xmp is 11-11-11-28 @ 1.6v
Website shows 11 11 11 30 2N @ 1.60v's. Be that as it may, the platform CPU IMC support is for DDR3 1600 @ 1.50v's + or - 0.075v's. There is a sordid history of that particular brand of RAM and another brand-X board maker, but the OP's thread is not the place for discussion about it.

you say recently, does this mean it was working fine before?
can you test this headset in another computer?
Yes it was working just fine before, this issue started happening a couple of weeks ago but I've had this setup for almost a year now.
I also don't readily have access to another computer to try it out on and testing it on another computer would be a bit of an issue because this only happens like once or twice a day after long hours of gaming.
Quote from: darkhawk on 31-May-15, 18:36:48
That's about the only relevant information I could find regarding this issue.
I would try the headset out on another computer. This would allow you to verify if the headset is the problem, or if the motherboard/USB ports are the problem.
I've checked out the link and my gamecoms were also configured for 5.1 surround sound, I reconfigured it to 7.1 surround sound so hopefully this is the solution. Also again I don't readily have access to another computer to test this out.
Hopefully this fixes it, thank you both for the replies and I will update you if the problem goes away or if it still occurs.

  • Z87-G45 Bluetooth Problems & Options

Morning all, still learning all about my new board & getting great support & advice on the forum.
Machine running superbly all round....RAID10, Multiple Boot, nearly all board leads worked out & managed.
Have a new issue with something I imagined to be straightforward.
Purchased a Logitech K810 K/B & a Logitech T400 mouse. Have installed by the book & done normal updates & checks.
Situation is that both work BUT....if I reboot the machine, I get no K/B until I reconnect the old wired USB units. If I reconnect the wired units, I can access Bios, boot options and input my Windows password. After which the new Bluetooth keyboard works fine.
I checked the Legacy USB options on MSI bios & they are good to go. The bluetooth USB plug in is a few years old....don't know if there have been revisions or tech movements since that time.
Also checked MB manual & confirm that there is no on-board Bluetooth. In retrospect I would have tried to make this option included knowing what I do now.
To confuse things a little further, If I reboot & try enter MB bios, there is 'on-screen' character corruption & mouse stops working. Remove the Logitech USB Unifying receiver & normality is restored.
Anyone aware of any MB settings that might be necessary to enable bluetooth operation from power on/boot....rather than after windows logon?
Also any recommendations to get best/most consistent operation from Bluetooth devices on the G45? Happy to buy add-ons but would like to get the best/optimum setup possible & of course get it 'right second time' round!
Many thanks in advance for your help
PS - thinking on, since installing the T400 mouse (with the unifying receiver) when I click 'shut down' on Win8.1 & then power on again....whereas I would be presented a multiple O/S choice screen, the PC simply goes into Win8.1.....remove the unifying adaptor and the boot menu comes up as normal on restart....odd yes?

    Hello,
What BIOS version is your PC running?
Try to >>Clear CMOS Guide<< with power cord removed.
What USB port(s) is the bluetooth receiver connected to? Did you try USB 2.0 possibly?
Seems like you use USB3.0 and that's why it's not working from boot, as this requires a driver which is installed obviously in the OS. So try USB 2.0
Nichrome hi there and many thanks for the quick reply. Not 100% of Bios version but can certainly check. Do know that I have Liveupdate 6 running and so think it is very latest-est on all levels.
Also fairly sure it is in a USB 2 port but not 100% so off the check that right now....is a good point, I did not consider that.
Can I just ask what the CMOS clear routine does please? More than happy to give that a go, just making sure  I understand the purpose and I guess any risks in doing so.
Will check and report back very shortly...many thanks for taking the time

  • MSI-Z87-G45 Killer networking problem

MSI-Z87-G45 Killer networking problem, need help please!!!
1st instahttps://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=172016.0ll-  internet works- but when I tried to do the "test" in the control panel for KillerNetwork, it failed to load, it said that I needed to install flash. I closed out that window that popped up for running the speed test and got a message that says that in order for the killer networking to work correctly I must perform the "speed test". So I went and downloaded the latest version of "flash player". tried the test again and got the same results. How the heck can I do that if it doenst see that I have "flash" installed....Grrrrr  btw-Flash has been verified and works on the web page where that "test" resides if I go directly to the site, just not via this dialog box that the control panel uses.
So I deleted the control panel and driver and reloaded them.
Went to do the "speed test" and got a repeat of the above, so I left it alone and tried to play a game...the lag was horrible, the worst I have ever experienced - unplayable, so I guess that message about the speed test is 100% a must!!
I have tried everything I can possible imagine, I even reinstalled windows and all the drivers again....still nothing works with this "speed test dialog box"....What to do??
    Thanks in advance-Rob

Thanks I will try that, if not, it seems the adapter may have an issue beause the internet is jacked up on it right now.
On that control panel program, I wonder why they wouldnt just program it to take you to the site via the browser and not try to keep it embedded inside that pop-up window<-------hey!!! that just gave me an idea- I wonder if the problem is that it is a type of "pop-up"!! Dang I will have to wait until tonight to try that - "enable pop-ups" ....never thought to try that since it wasnt inside the Chrome browser window itself...maybe its the fix!! "ummm" maybe!!! naaa it cant be that simple ...can it?? lol
I realy hope it is, well either of these...that lan adapter was the whole reason I went with this MSI board!!

  • MSI Z87-G45 problems

I'm having issues (again) with the MSI Z87-G45 motherboard. This is a replacement board from having to RMA my initial purchase. Brand new build and I cannot get any display. I have reseated the cpu, ram, and graphics card multiple times. I disconnected everything from the motherboard except for the essential items and I still do not get a display. I tried without a graphics card and was still unable to get a display. When using DVI the monitor goes into standby mode. When using VGA the monitor doesn't recognize it's hooked up to anything. I use this monitor on multiple computers in my house so 10000% sure it is not the monitor. All components are out of the case.
    Components I have tested:
cpu: Intel Pentium G3258, Intel Celeron G3220
    Motherboard: MSI Z87-G45
    gpu: MSI R9 280, MSI R7 260, no gpu
    psu: EVGA 750w 80+ Bronze, Corsair CX430w 80+ Bronze
    ram: Pny XL9 1600 DDR3 8gb stick, Kingston Fury 1866 DDR3 8gb stick
Is there something I'm missing or is this as simple as I received another bad board?

    So...
    Quote
    ram: Pny XL9 1600 DDR3 8gb stick, Kingston Fury 1866 DDR3 8gb stick
    Are you mixing RAM??
Did you try to reser CMOS? >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
When I was very beginner, I had a computer with GPU, and I had similar problem: no display. Well, I was smart enough to plug my HDMI to on board HDMI port even though there was a GPU. So please make sure that you plug the cable to the graphics card.
Can you try different video cable? DVI/VGA/HDMI.
Intel Pentium G3258 will NOT work as your board BIOS is probably earlier than required for this chip to run properly.

  • MSI Z87-G45 Latest beta bios problem?

So i have updated to the latest beta bios but the core jumps to 5600mhz from 4500mhz.
    Everything is set like it's alway's set.(4500 core @ 1.285v 4200 uncore/ring @ 1.19v, memory on xmp profile and the inputvoltage is 1.880v)
This only happens when using firefox from what i've seen, but i haven't done testing yet so it could happen with more programs.
Firefox becomes laggy when this happens and doesn't want to load anything unless you wait 25 seconds and then it still not load's the site complete.
IE 11 doesn't do this by the way.
    My setup:
    MSI Z87-G45 Gaming
    Intel I7 4770K
    G.Skill Ripjaws X 16gb
    Sapphire R9 290
    Cooler Master Silent Pro 1000W
Edit: The clock's are just showing up that high in task manager, in XTU they stay @ 4.5.
But i still don't know why firefox is acting up with this bios.

Close this topic as i have found the problem.
It was a usb 2.0 stick in usb 3.0 port that was saving the cache for firefox.
But the stick was working very slowly in that port hence the slowdown.
    Sorry for the thread.

  • Problem with MSI z87-g45 and gigabyte GTX 770

Hello, I just built my new computer useing a Z87-G45 gaming motherboard and a Gigabyte GTX 770 graphic card, reason Im making this post is because I cant get a any video on the monitor useing the Graphic card, only way to get the monitor working is to use the Integraded graphic, I've tried all ports on the Graphic card same problem, i've switched monitor no succes.
Weird thing is, Inside BIOS when Im looking on the overview of the board it tells me that I dont have anything connected in the PCI-E slots, I've tried to switch PCI-E slots and same issue appears.
How do I fix this? or cant my graphic card be DOA? since my old one works in the PCI-E slots as normally

Update the bios to the most recent found here: >>BIOSes<<
Extract the bios file and place it on a fat 32 formatted usb stick and use M-flash w/ ME.
    Then re-test.

  • Z87-G45 Voltage Adjustment Problem

I recently built a new system with the Z87-G45 and Core i5 4670K.
I am unable to make any type of adjustments to any core voltages within the BIOS. I am forced to use the Intel Tuning Utility.
Is there something I must disable or enable in order to have the ability to adjust the voltages in the BIOS?

My apologies if you believe I was being rude. Let me rectify this...
I open a thread to ask for help with this problem. I offer enough information to continue the conversation.
After posting that I am completely unable to change any settings, I receive a question asking if I highlighted the field and used the + or - keys. Not to be insulting, L2R. It turned out I have to hold the Shift key while pressing the + for it to function correctly. When everything is on Auto, the - key changes nothing. That was the problem right there and why I asked for help to find a resolution.
Of course I highlighted the fields and tried to change the settings with the correct keys before posting anything. I read almost the entire user manual and I have fifteen years of experience in this field. So I'm hoping that you can understand that I felt a bit insulted by that nub question. And the conversation spiraled down from there.
I will not go into detail concerning the actions I would have to take in order to post a SS. No one wants to hear it...
I did not receive any help...
