Z87-g45 Major sound issue

My computer wont read and audio device I plug into either usb or analog ports. My headphones light up(showing the usb is working) but I cant see them in the device manager anywhere. I have the latest drivers for everything as of this post. I dont use speakers at all just headphones and just cant get sound to work  :(

I had the same problem (analogue speakers) with a recent fresh install of windows 7. I changed the realtek driver to a previous version which did the trick.  Then opened device manger and updated the driver (which was the original one that did not work); all is good.
Prior to doing the fresh install I had the latest BIOS, I made a major cockup and also downloaded the Intel Management Engine (this had previously been updated with the BIOS) after the reinstall of window 7. What problems this caused me, random USB failures , sound failures, pc not turning off and the rest...

  • MSI Z87-G45 Gaming, sound from USB mouse?

    Hi!
I have some issue from my new computer, see spec below.
For the information I have a MSI Z87-G45 motherboard.
I have some sound that occurs sometimes (specially during the first 2-5 minutes) when i move the mouse around.
It occurs as well sometimes when I been using the computer for a while, basically random just more frequently at the start-up.
It's hard to know from where the sound occurs, could be PSU but today I read something on another forum about the motherboard I'm using:
    - Higher sound quality using USB, thanks to special adapted current power.
So i wounder if this can be the case? Is that the reason why i get this noise from inside the computer?
Is there some way to disabled this "feature" in BIOS?
    Greetings

The sound sounds like the old mechanics hdd kinda.
It comes inside the computer, not the speakers.
My feelings is that it can be the PSU as well, just wanted to check this first, since it most often comes when i move my mouse.

  • MSI z87 g45 Boot up issues

So I built a computer for my sister and her husband and it has been having some boot up issues,Here are the computer parts:
    wiindows 7 64bit
    MSI Z87 G45 Gaming motherboard
    INTEL CORE I-7 4770K 3.5GHZ
    RADEON HD 5700 GPU
    G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866
kINGSTON 64 GB SSD ( spare part, not sure the numbers)
    Sunbeam PSU-H680-REV-US 680W ATX 12V 2.0 Power Supply - OEM
    Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 2TB 7200 RPM
    ASUS Black 12X BD-ROM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM SATA Internal Blu-ray Drive Model BC-12B1ST/BLK/B/AS
I've cleared both the HDD and SSD and now I'm looking to check the msi z87 g45 mobo, The computer starts up and sits on a2 for a while and then sometimes it fails to detect the SSD and says a0 and then I have to go back into the bios after I reset the computer again and maybe it detected the SSD and I can set it to boot from that again because it constantly changes the boot order, and sometimes it gives a blue screen when nearly into windows and then restarts, I had transferred some data from their old computer to this one and the data had virus's in it and I didnt know so I eventually found out and a day later and got rid of them all and the computer started behaving better but not fixed, faster mainly, I don't know if the virus may have altered some files so, I have a few more things to try, any help would be appreciated.
(Something I forgot to mention is that when I unplugg the HDD all the issues go away, the computer seems to work fine, But there are no issues with the hdd, ive tested it with seatools and I plugged it into my computer and restarted mant times as well as used my computer for a while and nothing, the HDD is fine, the start up on their computer sits on a2 for a long time when it isnt going to work and it only happens with the 2tb seagate HDD plugged in)

which storage drive holds the boot files the SSD or the HDD? the ATA mode of the BIOS needs to remain in the same mode it was when Windows was deployed to the storage drive. next the only way a BIOS settings will change with out user input is if the Li cell battery is going dead/the BIOS is getting reset frequently. sounds like you're about at square one, I'd format the Seagate 2TB HDD, install windows onto that either in RAID or AHCI mode whichever your preference, you can use the 64GB SSD as caching later if you use RAID mode, if AHCI the 64GB could be spare. I don't understand the SSD as boot drive method, it doesn't make sense the solid state storage is volatile meaning it degrades over time, the HDD isn't and the performance gain isn't going to change the way you use your PC. AHCI has it's advantages it's up to you. Following those steps is the only way you're going to keep the computer booting on a regular basis. You shouldn't need to manually configure which storage drive to initialize/boot from first, the BIOS automatically goes through your devices to find boot files then boots from the first one with boot files, it won't even try to boot from a device without boot files, because it can't. Just to reiterate the BSOD you speak of sounds similar to the ATA mode changing to something other than what it was when Windows was deployed to the device.

  • New MSI Z87 G45 Build Stuttering Issues

So few days ago i finally built my new rig:
    Specs:
    Intel 4670K
    MSI Z87 G45
    MSI 760 GAMING OC
    G.Skill Ripjaws X 8GB 1600 CL9
    Seasonic G 550
    Samsung Evo 250
    WD RED 2TB
So i noticed that i get micro stutter when playing HD videos or youtube videos. Same stutter applies on some HTML5 effects and desktop also..
There is no stutter present when gaming but i do get kind of "slowmo" feel even when my FPS is high enough 60+ (or i'm just picky or somethin...)
I tried everything from installing drivers,, reinstalling OS, Using HDD as OS drive then used Oboard GPU and still the same issue.
Does anyone know what could be the problem? could mobo be damaged? memory? or cpu?
I even did tons of benchmarks and everythine is stable and fine and shows no ERRORS.
I also updated the bios to the latest version (1.5)
Does anyone have any clue what might be going on?
I think few monhts i found someone who had similar problem and fixed this but cant find it anymore...

Are you able to post screen shots of the memory and spd tabs of CPUZ?
Is the ram installed into DIMMS 2 & 4? (2nd and furthest from the CPU)

On my 2 month old Unibody Macbook, I'm experiencing severe sound issues with bootcamp 2.1 in windows vista. While playing games such as Halo 2 or Fallout 3, which the macbook graphically handles exceptionally well for a laptop, the sound crackles and often disappears! To get the sound back I have to reboot my macbook. Help, this is extremely annoying, and apple won't do a thing about it!!! Please help!

  • MSI Z87-G45 USB WiFi issue

    hey guys,
I just bought a brand-new Z87-G45, and it almost works totally fine!
The only thing that bothers me is when I boot up my system, the plugged in D-Link DWA-160 won't work directly (an orange led lights up continuously), so I need to unplug it and plug it in again. Then it'll work perfect with top speeds. I got the latest drivers for the WLAN stick and latest BIOS (1.47 Beta) for my motherboard. What kind of behavior is that?

Ahh I see, so you meant hair dryer
Apparently it doesn't produce heat when set correctly but at certain point it might have done so.
I suggest to re-do all the connections and reseat CPU.
i already did that and it did not work
and hair dryer you can set it without heat so its impossible to produce heat
    i know what im doing

  • Z87-G45 onboard sound mixing channels issue

I'm using a 5.1 audio setup and having an issue with the subwoofer channel also playing at a slightly lower level through both front channels. I've  checked the creative audio HQ menu to make sure the fronts were not check to "full range" speakers, but it didn't help. I've tried removing the device and reinstalling the drivers, still same issue. I noticed this when trying to listen to music and it seemed like the satellites were trying to produce bass, making it terrible to listen to.
This is a new system, Intel 4670k, 8G Gskill ram, 9800 gtx+ graphics. The old system had a dedicated sound blaster live card that worked fine.
    Any ideas would be great!

Well it's still playing a subtle level through the fronts, it's tolerable for most music, but you can play anything like dubstep or anything with heavy bass, hopefully they will find a fix for this.

  • Major sound issues

my sound is giving out randomly and coming back on, the little blue volume button is now with, the little volume icon the lines are flashing and my computer is making clicking noises. the best way to describe the click is like the clicking sound your car's turn signal makes. I've called applecare twice first I reset the PRAM and it worked for about 20 min, the the second time I had to reinstall the whole computer and it worked for about a day. Is there anything I can do to fix this or do I need to send it in? I just need to know.

OK, let me look at dissasembled MacBook photos... As quoted from AppleDefects, "Idle Processor Noise
The MacBook is victim to the high pitched noise generated by the processor, known as the 'CPU whine'
Its sort of like beeping but "More like rythmic screaming"
This occurs only when the CPU is idle
Disabling the second core of the processor or running a program that prevents the processors from being idle will eliminate this sound (like PhotoBooth).
Comes from under the W key
noise is easy to recognize when holding down a key (iiiiiii) or when visiting this website <http://www.learner.org/jnorth/mclass/spring2006/Peek033106.html>
This has also been observed on the MacBook Pro, as well as other Core Duo based PC laptops.
Unlike the Macbook Pro, Apple has yet to recognize this issue". Try these suggestions.

  • Z87-G45 no sound

i just installed the board yesterday. i have no sound. i can get it to enable for a very short moment, and then it goes off. ive updated the latest realtek drivers and still nothing. any suggestions?  i have my speakers plugged into the green jack on the motherboard.

Check for any extra stand-offs under your board. Also check to see if there's a screw in the hole just above the first PCie slot. Both of these have been known to cause problems with sound and ethernet. I had problems with both until I moved over to a new case an both problems have now disappeared.

  • Z87-G45 sound simultaneously on Sennheiser PC363D and rear panel

    Hello fellow MSI enthusiasts,
I have a question which I cannot seem to solve myself
My motherboard is a MSI Z87-G45 Gaming. I want to listen to (all) sounds via my rear soundpanel (Realtek) and my Sennheiser headset (a PC363D, with its own sound processor (connected via USB)).
In my previous setup, I couldn't have the front- and rear-panel play sound at the same time.. So I wonder if it is something I am overlooking, or a shortcoming of this motherboard (in my humble opinion).
In short: can a Z87-G45 play sounds via my USB-headset AND my rear panel, at the same time?
(my speakerset is an Altec 2.1 set, so no 5.1 or 7.1 surround needed).
    TIA
    Ruud

    Noone has any clue
I cannot imagine that this motherboard is not capable of playing sounds on it's own soundcard + my PC363D

  • MOVED: MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G + MSI Z87-G45 incompatible? Noise on speakers

This topic has been moved to MSI Intel boards.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=184068.0

    Used hardware
    MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G (+ RMA'ed new one)
    Gigabyte 670 GTX Windforce
MSI Z87-G45 Gaming motherboard (with Intel i7-4770K, Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB, and Crucial M500 - 480GB SSD)
Asus P5N32-E with Q6600 and 8GB DDR2 (Going to test this)
    SoundBlaster-Z Audio card
Roccat Kave 5.1 Gaming Headphones (4x 3.5 mm jacks: Front, Rear, Center&bass, Microphone + USB amp/volume control)
    Corsair B600 (600W) PSU (secondary)
    Corsair RM750 (750W) PSU (Primary)
    To summarize
Corsair RM750 + MSI Z87-G45 + Gigabyte GTX 670 + Roccat Kave = really faint noise only when scrolling in browser, in game not heard
Corsair RM750 + MSI Z87-G45 + MSI GTX 970 + Roccat Kave = in game loud and heavy noise + screech when scrolling in browser
    Corsair RM750 + MSI Z87-G45 + MSI GTX 970 + Soundblaster-Z + Roccat Kave = In game moderate to heavy noise
    Corsair B600 + MSI Z87-G45 + MSI GTX 970 + Soundblaster-Z + Roccat Kave = In game weak to moderate noise
Corsair B600 + MSI Z87-G45 + MSI GTX 970 + Soundblaster-Z + Roccat Kave with Mic disconnected = Almost no noise, ifg you listen for it, really faint background noise in game. But well within my acceptable limits.
    Tomorrow I'll try:
Corsair B600 + MSI Z87-G45 (onboard sound) + MSI GTX 970 + Roccat Kave without mic
Corsair RM750 + Asus P5N32-E (onboard sound) + MSI GTX 970 + Roccat Kave with mic
I failed to mention, that the first thing I did was to remove my HD Audio Front panel connector off its header.
So I did some more searches. The noise has something to do with the capacitors on (presumably) the video card. The higher the pitch usually coincides with higher FPS. So the interference must be coming from the video card, as this is the last thing added and probably the main cause.
Both the motherboard & the SoundBlaster-Z pick up the EMI/RF interference. (I am disappointed by the SoundBlaster about this).
I'll test with the older motherboard and see how I proceed from there.

  • Resetting CMOS questions z87-g45

    Hi Guys,
It took me forever to find where the reset CMOS button was on this motherboard, but I found it here (page 1-9 on manual).
My question relates to reseting best practices. Do I need to turn of my power? Do I unplug power supply? What is the difference between removing the battery (saw in some thread) vs just hitting the button.
Why I am asking. I bought a desktop computer off of craigslist with the graphics card and RAM removed. I am wondering if the CMOS has some information related to those hardware pieces, because, everything boots up, but when I plug VGA, DVI, or HDMI into the motherboard, the monitor does not turn on. I am pretty sure the cpu is a core i5-4670k with an on board graphics card, but I am not sure.
    The specs I know:
    Cheap PNY Optima 2x4gb ram
    msi z87-g45 motherboard
    sound blaster sound card
520 antec gaming power supply (tested and works)

  • Sound Blaster Cinema with z87 g45

    Hi to all.
I have the z87 g45 motherboard and I can't use Sound Blaster. When I open it, there's this text:
    Quote
The current audio device is disabled, not present, not supported by the application, or has unplugged jack connestions. Do you want to select another audio device now?
    And if I click Yes
    Quote
There is no supported audio device available.
I already have installed che realtek hd audio, so what's the problem? Thanks.

Same Problem here. System is irrelevant. Got the Problem on Win7 64b; Win8 64b and Win8.1 64b ... Seems to have happened after updating Sound drivers on my PC. Couldn't even get it back with reinstallation of Windows in general!

    2 days ago i bought a new motherboard msi Z87-G45 Gaming ,

and the sound at the front and the back are just normal, i also noticed that quality of the sound is worse , so im wondering if the onboard soundcard is broken or has it to do with something else?
and yes the Realtek Hd Audio driver is installed
im using the onboard soundcard Realtek ALC1150
and the headset Siberia V2 Steelseries
I am new to the forum if i posted this in the wrong section or something i apologize
i also like to apologize for my bad english.

Apart from Realtek you could install Sound Blaster Cinema.
Try to reinstall the drivers >>Realtek Downloads<< with the latest available.
    Try different headset/speakers.

  • Z87-G45 usb issues

I'm having a heck of a time with this board and if I can't get this taken care of today I'll have to RMA it. I'm having many problems with the usb ports. After loading windows and installing the drivers off of the disc, none of my flash drives would work. I received the popular "unknown device" which I could not fix. So I re-installed windows. I tried installing the drivers from MSI's site, but after installing them one by one my keyboard and mouse randomly stop working. If I load in safe mode they do work. Also, not once has any of my flash drives been recognized.
Is there any hope for me, or is RMA the best option?
