Z87-GD65 now booting very slowly

Hello,
Last week I booted my PC and found it didn't boot to Windows in it's usual ~6 seconds.
Instead it gave me a black screen for about 3-4 mins before eventually the boot screen displayed and then the Windows login page.
After looking at the debug codes on the motherboard I saw it did this:
first it stayed on the code "9A" for about 40seconds, then it changed to "A2" for about 2-3 mins (at which point the black screen displayed A2 in the bottom right corner). Then after this it then booted as "normal".
I've tried unplugging all extra hard drives (excluding the OS), and also I tried to booting to a different hard drive with the Ubuntu OS installed - but this gave me exactly the same sequence of events. I also tried plugging the SATA cable into different sockets on the motherboard.
Maybe I should add that the machine is about 18 months old, it had the latest BIOS installed... That's all the info I can think of right now.
I'm not particularly experienced with this, so if anyone has any advice or ideas of things I can try I'd appreciate it a lot.

Properly reflash bios A with latest bios including ME firmware update:
A.) Download >>this archive<< (E7845IMS_1B0.rar) and place it on your desktop. Do not decompress.
B.) Download and install >>the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<.
C.) Insert your FAT32 formatted usb stick.
D.) Make sure that all win 8 options are disabled. (Fast Boot etc) Also make sure the legacy USB is enabled.
E.) Start the forum flash tool and select option 1. Then point the tool at the compressed archive we downloaded earlier. Then to your USB Flash Drive.
F.) Boot to the USB
G.) Now follow the directions and let the tool flash
H.) After flashing reinstall ME drivers in Windows: http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/intel_amt90_mb.zip

I installed 3.6.4 on XP June 23 and had much the same experience, except Firefox 3.6.4 never finished opening, even after nearly an hour, and brought my entire system to an excruciatingly slow crawl, even though pgm mgr showed FF getting 0% and system idle with 97-98. This happened twice with a reboot in between. Finally had to roll back to a previous restore point and all is fine now, except--no new version of Firefox. I'll wait to see more feedback about 3.6.4 before trying to install again.

My 2011 macmini boots very slowly when d-link usb hub is connected.

I have a 2011 macmini that boots very slowly when my D-link 7 port usb hub is attached. The hub is the newest model and has three 3TB seagate external hdd's plugged in to it. Normally boot time is about 1 minute, with hub connected it's about 3+ minutes. Shut down time is also much slower when the hub is connected. If I unplug it, boot up and shutdown time is back to normal. Does anyone know if this is normal, or do I have a bad hub or external hdd's.

It's a bit normal, OSX checks or repairs most drives connected when booting.
Use Disk Utility to Repair the external Drives.
Also, Is Spotlight indexing these drives? Is Time Machine using any of them?
Have you tried one drive connected at a time to see if it's just one or 2 doing it?
Did you Install any Seagate Software?

Z87-GD65 wont boot from any drive, please help!

I desperately need your help on this issue. And thanks in advance for any answer!
I have a brand new Z87-GD65 Mainboard.
When I select my boot device in BIOS all I get is: "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"
In BIOS I can find all my hardware (CPU, Drives, HDDs, DVD,... RAM) everything is shown correctly. Nothing missing there, all parts shown by correct values.
I cant boot through my DVD Drive or external USB Drive (on both I have Windows 7 which I want to install on my new system). The Windows DVD is also working properly, I checked it on my old PC.
No matter what Boot priority/device I choose (I think Ive tried them all by now) "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key" is what I get after "save & reboot".
My BIOS Version is E7845IMS V1.8.
Any suggestions, what am I missing?

Glad you got it working....probably the controller got confused from the faulty DVD rom....

10.5 booting very slowly

A week ago I installed 10.5 and now it boots up very slowly. Or rather , it takes about 2 minutes for the Apple logo to appear and the process to begin.
I checked for firmware updates, but I do have the most current version for my mac Pro model installed. Also, the chime now has an echo. About one second after it has ended, it briefly sounds again. Don't know if that is relevant, but thought I mention it.

I was able to get the machine going, briefly, by starting up with only one monitor. Had time enough to copy the last crash report, before it froze again. Here it is:

Captivate 4 is now working very slowly - how can I speed things up?

My elearning course is now 13,641 KB and is starting to work very slowly. I have deleted all unused items from the library. Is there anything else I can do to speed things up? I don't want to split the project up at this stage.

Did the slowness begin when you moved your Captivate project files onto another drive?
You need to be aware that you should always ONLY work on Captivate project files that are sitting on your own local hard drives, never those stored on a LAN or other drive. Too many issues arise from working on non-local project files.

Will Z87 GD65 Gaming boot with 4790k in order to update BIOS?

So, I have a Z87 GD65 Gaming motherboard.
I was planning on buying a 4770k cpu, but changed my mind to 4790k. The motherboards supports 4790k in the last release of BIOS.
Do i have to buy a supported CPU (or send to a local store) to update BIOS or can I boot directy with the 4790k and update?

board needs to be at least at bios 1.9 to even post with a Haswell refresh cpu. While 4790K is officially supported with the later bios 1.A it should at least post with 1.9. Therefor a boar manufactured before 2014-02-24 will not work out of the box with a 4790K and a supported Haswell cpu to flash or update by a shop will be needed to use the cpu.

After SL upgrade - internal HDD now writes very slowly

After upgrading from Leopard to Snow Leopard, a strange problem has appeared on my Mid-2007 iMac, and I still haven't found a solution...
I backed up my system, erased and did a clean install of SL on my internal HDD, and proceeded to restore my data. This is when I noticed the problem: *Copying data from my external drives to the internal iMac HDD, the maximum transfer rate I can achieve is approx 2MB/sec.* It may or may not have had anything to do with SL, perhaps just a coincidence of timing, although the problem definitely wasn't there before the "upgrade".
Normally, write speeds used to be ~50MB/sec from my FW800 drives. I've tried from all my drives (I have 6 external drives - 4-USB 2.0 and 2-FW800) and the results are consistently the same for each. Copying data from an external drive to another external drive is at normal speeds, so this rules out any bus issues. Copying data FROM the iMac HDD to any external drive is normal - ~30MB/sec to USB 2.0 drives and ~65MB/sec to FW800 drives.
Needless to say, using the internal HDD leaves my iMac in a pretty much unusable state. At 2MB/sec it will take days to restore my data...
+Reading through other posts I've found here:+ I read a report from one user suggesting that the external cache on the WD 500GB internal SATA HDD is shot, although S.M.A.R.T. - or any other tests I've done, including TechTool 5 and DriveGenius 2 - reports no known errors.
At first I thought it may have been a glitch with SL, but I've since reverted back to stock Leopard 10.5.8 and, since the problem still exists, I'm now convinced that it's not a software issue any more.
*My question is:* Could the external cache on a HDD fail and the drive still operate normally, albeit slowly? And just to make it clear, only writes to the internal HDD have slowed, not reads.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'm completely open to them. I've tried just about everything I can think of up to now. If I had an extra drive around I would consider swapping out the internal HDD to rule out a hardware issue - yes I'm comfortable with the procedure and have the tools and service manual. I am without AppleCare on this system, which I've had for approx 2 years now.
FYI - I've reset the PRAM and NVRAM (4 chimes) and left my iMac unplugged for over an hour to reset the SMC...

Thanks, I checked and everything is properly set - GUID, 1 partition - simple (like I've done many times before).. I've tried just about everything I can think of now (except for the zero erase - it's going to take hours so I'll do it overnight tonight) yet nothing makes sense, and I'm still only getting 2MB/sec write speed..
I'm thinking the drive is pooched and I'm going to pick up a replacement this weekend unless I can figure something out sooner.. Would be a good excuse to upgrade to a 1TB model anyways, perhaps a 1.5TB if the iMac can handle it?
Please keep the suggestions coming, though.. I do appreciate it..

Protg M800-106 - Vista boots very slowly

I have recently bought a Toshiba Portege M800-106. Whenever I turn the computer on (with mains connection or just battery) it takes between 4-5 mins to get to the Vista password box - this appears to be very slow!
My desktop has Vista and it is very quick in comparison.
I was advised to delete and reinstall Vista which has made no difference.
I have uninstalled the McAfee and this if anything seems to slow things further (I have currently no antivirus software, but won't be connecting to the internet until I can sort this problem out).
Please could someone advise to what the problem could be.

You shouldnt compare the desktop with this notebook.
Maybe you dont know that the processes which are running in the background slow downs the Vista booting procedure immensely.
Your desktop PC dont support any features like Vista Added package, FN buttons, etc
All this applications loading at the start up and therefore the booting procedure takes longer.
If you want you can disable some processes in the msconfig Startup tab.

Firefox doesn't work very well in what sense ?? Can you explain a bit more about the problems you are facing in using Firefox ??

After Updating to Firefox 4.0, many of my regularly visited websites now load very slowly or Firefox stops responding and does finish loading the website.

Typically, the splash page will lode partially but as soon as it starts to transfer data from ad related sites (ie doubleclick) , Firefox seems to stop working and when I when I try to close the site, I get a FireFox - Program is Not Responding message. I tell the computer to End Program and it takes 3-4 minutes for Firefox to close> When I then reopen Firefox, I get a message saying (This is Embarrasing_ we couldn't find some of your tabs. Firefox then offers me the option of restoring the previous session or starting a new one.

I have to agree, a once rapid firefox is now an absolute pain, I have scanned the computer with Malware bites and AVG nothing found..anybody got the fix?

Safari Booting Very Slowly....

For some reason Safari has been taking an ususually long time to turn on. Before this started happening, the icon would bounce 2 or 3 times in the dock and then it would be on. Now it bounces for perhaps 30 seconds and when it does turn on, it lags for a minute or so. I've noticed that Adium (MSN/iChat combo) does this as well. For that matter, it seems to be getting worse in regards to everything.

Do you have at least 10% of your HD free? If other applications are behaving in the same fashion, you have a problem that is not specific to Safari.
Run the hardware checker that came with your system to see if anything pops up.
