Hi,
Am also facing same issue, my monitor has only VGA port and mpower max mobo has only HDMI (o/p port)so bought one VGA to HDMI converter cable(supports 1080pi). When i connected it to the motherboard HDMI port it didn't display anything on monitor , but when i connect my old nvidia dedicated GPU(nvidia geforce 7200 gs ) the monitor is working fine. I noticed same thing as ozzy, the LED debug light shows AE for few seconds and then turns to AO and system remains running but no signal on monitor.
I also enabled iGPU in BIOS and changed cable to mobo from dedicated GPU(tried even after removing dedicated GPU), then too ist not working. Am i missing anything here ?? Please help.

  • Z87 Mpower Max

Having issues not being able to adjust my CPU ratio for my 4770K through bios (currently running 1.2B8). Does not allow me to change my setting from 'auto' to 'manual'. Seems to be locked. Although, I can change the CPU multipliers through MSI Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and overclock from there with no problems getting 4.5ghz at 1.2 vcore.
Also, for those who have the Z87 Mpower Max, does the debug code not show temperatures like the Z77 mpower anymore? At the moment, mine only shows the debug code(s).

Is there a reason why I can overclock better and significantly have better temperatures with 1 stick of ram compared to 2 (dual channel mode)?
Just by going dual channel mode, my temperatures automatically go up by 20-30C under load and it gets even worse as I raise my vcore. Where as if I go single channel, I can throw a good amount of vcore and the temperatures will slowly progress. For example, if I use 1 stick of ram, I can easily attain 4.5 with 1.2 vcore with temperatures in the low 60's using prime. But if I go dual channel mode, temperatures rise by 20-30C, and goes to 80-90C, but it requires 1.25 vcore in order to be stable. Yes, I know the vcore is higher, but if I raised my vcore to 1.25 using single channel mode, the temperatures would be close as if I were still running 1.2vcore, somewhere in the low 60's. Like I said, raising my vcore in single channel does not raise my temperatures as dramatically as in dual channel mode. Another example, right now I am running at 4.8 with 1.37vcore with temperatures in the 70-80 C using prime. I wouldn't even be able to do this in dual channel because temperatures would hit 100C at 4.6 w/ 1.3vcore and eventually underclock.
I have tested both sticks in single channel and get the same overclock results. So, it has to do something with it being in dual channel.

  • Z87 MPower Max error A1

Left PC on a few hours. When I got home Win8 was at the lock screen and 2ndary monitor had shut off. 1Samsung 60LED 2Samsung 50Plasma. I tried to turn it on with my remote but turned both off. When I turned them back on, the PC was rebooting. A1 was displayed on the MB. Windows loading screen said something like "cleaning up" then went to my login screen. A0 is displayed now. I get random resets while using the PC, sometimes while it is idle, sometimes in games or watching youtube videos. Is there a list of trouble shooting codes somewhere? What does A1 mean?

  • PCI-e wireless card causes lock ups Z87 MPower MAX

I've already asked this question once, but was part of an epic essay that I've decided to break down into smaller more manageable chunks (as unsurprisingly that one got no replies).
I've got an ASUS PCE-A66 wireless ac pci-e card. Had absolutely no issues with it in my old Z77 board, but I seem to be having a lot of issues with it in my new Z87 MPower MAX. System was locking up like mad when I was trying to install the drivers at first. Had to rip out the WiFi/Bluetooth/WiDi module to get the drivers installed but the system randomly hangs on boot up? Don't get the issues with the card unplugged and don't always get it with it plugged in, but there seems to be some form of conflict with it that I can't resolve. Has anyone else had any such issues with any PCI-e add in cards on this motherboard?
    Specs are:
    i7 4770k
MSI MPower MAX using .128 bios (will try the .131 later)
    2x4GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 2400
    Coolermaster Silent Pro Hybrid 1050w
EVGA NVidia GTX 780 SC ACX
    Windows 8 Pro 64bit

Yes, old system was Win8 Pro 64 bit too and the drivers are Windows 8 certified. As I say though, I had no issues with it on the old build? Even got a replacement sent out by Amazon in case the card itself was damaged  Did initially try to do a warm update of the hardware into the same OS installation but didn't play well so did a full re-install in the end. Tried standard and UEFI installs (just in case) and after a problem with my OCZ Vector 2 not being recognised I bought a new Samsung 840 Pro so was a virgin SSD installed on to as well.
I'll raise it directly with MSI but just wanted to know if anyone else had experienced anything similar with any wireless cards in this mobo.
    Cheers for the reply though

  • Z87 Mpower Max Wifi Problem

    Hey!
So I recently built this new PC:
CPU: I7 4770k || GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 770 Gaming 4GB || Mobo: MSI Z87 MPOWER MAX || RAM: Crucial DDR3 BallistiX Sport 2x 8GB || SSD: Samsung 840 PRO Series 256GB || Chassi: Cooler Master HAF XM Midi Tower || CPU-cooler: Noctua NH-D14 || PSU: Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 720W || OS: Windows 7 Ultimate || HDD: WD Desktop Green 2 TB | SAMSUNG SpinPoint 160 GB | HITACHI 250 GB
I'm happy with everything except the Wifi connection... I've been googling and searching on forums without any help so now I'm hoping someone know how to fix this problem...
I got a low connection to the router and it's terribly slow (the router is a WNR2000v2 but I've never had problems with it earlier and I get the same result with other routers). Basically, I get about 20Mbit/s with cable and the wifi from my laptop (HP ProBook 6560b with "Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n ") and the laptop can stand right next to my desktop PC and get 5/5 in connection vs MSI Mpower Max Wifi (Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 2230) which only get 3/5 in the same distance. I've tried all kinds of placements for the antennas without and improvement. BUT, my problem is that instead of getting 20Mbit/s I only get up to 5Mbit/s. Now... I run the latest drivers from MSI's Mpower Max webpage and I run the latest BIOS (Version E7815IMS V1.3), but I cannot find a solution.
    Thanks in advance...
    Sincerely,
    Dexter
    (Excuse my poor English)

I think you should go through some Windows settings. Also try to configure router (this might be the problem).

  • Z87 MPOWER MAX problems?

    Hey all,
Alright, so I installed a new motherboard, the Z87 MPower MAX, a new CPU (i7-4770k @3.5Ghz). So far, not so good. Basically, once I installed it, windows loaded up and instantaneously my system was monumentally slower than before, I used to have a Rampage IV Formula and an i7-3820 Sandy Bridge-E process running at 3.6Ghz. It lags when I drag windows around a huge amount, it took over and two hours to install the drivers from the CD's (not including the crashing which occured whilst trying to do so, program crashing, not PC). My Graphics cards ARE DETECTED BY WINDOWS. But my drivers are not. Also, when I try to run catalyst control centre, it tells me there is nothing to use it so it doesn't start and when I try to install new drivers, the catalyst software gets hung up on detecting graphics hardware and never gets past it. I have a program called speccy which usually detects my hardware very quickly but also gets stuck analysing and doesn't pick up anything, not to mention the Windows Experience Index won't run properly to due an error to do with "System/ Drivers/ blah blah blah.." Ugh...Not having fun and I have no support from Microsoft as I am an OEM user.
    System specs are:
    Motherboard: MSI MPower MAX
    Processor: Intel core i7-4770K @3.5Ghz
GPU: TWO AMD R9 290X Cards running in Crossfire
    PSU: 1200W Crosair 80+ Gold
    RAM: 16Gb Ripjaw-z 2133Mhz DDR3 RAM
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium
This is primarily a gaming / photoshop system so I really need this to start running smoothly, any advice is greatly appreciated!!!!

For rendering, graphics design, audio creation, X79 was and is superior. Be that as it may, is the OS a fresh Install? If not, that is the problem.

  • Z87 Mpower Max Windows flash gone bad.

have a MSI z87 Mpower Max motherboard. While flashing with live update, windows crashed during "erasing flash" part. I did get it to boot into like a temporary BIOS by putting 1.2 version bios on a CDROM and letting it find it then it says "bios file damaged" i entered the bios to reflash but when i select the BIOS file from my USB flash stick (its just the file and the flash utility) the BIOS locks. I dont know if it's flashing or what it's doing.... If you recover this way, are you suppost to make a USB Flash drive that is bootable in DOS? or while its "locked up" is it actually flashing the bios to recover it ? I'm confused. I've left it for a good 10 minutes, still the same screen, still locked. Any help appreciated.

Best to remove Live Update from your system. Windows flashing is to dangerous as you have already discovered.

  • Is My MSI Z87 MPower MAX Safe?

    Hi everyone!
May I ask is my MSI Z87 MPower Max safe?
    Intel 4770K - Idle = 45 Degrees Celceius / Open For Long Time = 53 Degrees Celceius
MSI Z87 MPower Max = 42 Degree Celceius
    Core 0 - 3 and Package - Idle = 40 Degress Celceius / Open For Long Time = 48 Degrees Celceius
May I know is that safe and normal? because I got the Noctua NH-D14 heatsink fan.
    Thank you!

    its safe!
for 4GHz CPU frequancy that temp is all good if it tops out below 75C when its under maximum load when you get around to testing it then its all good and you have nothing to worry about!
so try intel burn test till it hits maximum temp it runs at and see how hot it gets (remember any temp under 100C is safe but the lower the temp is under that the better!)
so get the cpu a maximum sustained load to see how high its  temps go to and report back to us but it looks fine so far and maximum temp is the most important metric to have (idle and light load temps say very little as they sound totally fine so far)

  • Msi z87 mpower max overclocking

Hi , just bought a msi z87 mpower max 4770k , is there any guide to overclock to 4.4ghz 24/7 ? Thanks

If you are still crashing at 4.3 you may want to try clear CMOS button and then try using the OC Genie. There is a switch you can flip up next to the onboard button which throws a red LED. The OC will be 4.2 and you don't have to mess with anything. Probably won't be noticeable difference from 4.3 but you may notice less blue screen.
Ive been running at 4.5 stable 24/7 on manual OC until this weekend while Beta testing a game I started having all kinds of problems. The issues were probably on the game end I think related to dual monitor and borderless windowed mode, however I removed 2 mem sticks to 16G and reset CMOS and used OC genie. I can not retry the game until the weekend but this setup will run AIDA64 system test overnight with temps bouncing between 50-70 with all 4 cores at constant 100%. I could not get the system to stay stable in AIDA64 @4.4- 4.5- 4.6 although it would be stable for gaming and everyday use. I like OC manually but the button is so convenient for a non hassle. Benchmark score in the game(FFXIV) also went up from ~8000 to 8600 at 4.2. Probably due to taking GPU out of SLI(not supported by game yet).

  • Z87 MPower max ac Bios version

So I bought a Z87 Mpower max ac back around christmas time, I've been slowly buying parts for it, now with just the cpu to get, so I can't boot it up to check the bios version. I was wondering whether it's possible that my board has the 1.7 update to support haswell refresh (I plan on getting the 4790k) considering the manufacture date for the board was march 2014 and the bios update to support H-R came out late february 2014. I know it's unlikely, but it would make life a lot easier not having to buy a cheap celeron just to update the bios.

Quote from: Nichrome on 07-June-15, 18:34:56
S/N can roughly tell BIOS version your board would have. But still you will need older Haswell chip to flash to latest BIOS. You could ask IT services in your area to flash it for you or send it to MSI for flashing. Lastly, you can borrow a CPU from friend.
    >>How to contact MSI.<< if required
Okay, so I'll still likely need a cheap celeron to flash a new bios. Besides the month and year, I assume the S/N can't help much more with what version it has?

  • Z87 MPower Max only 2 channel from S/PDIF

Any one have ideas? Cable is good on my other 5.1 system using Sound Blaster card. On this system I have no options in hardware/sound to change the settings to anything other than 2 channel. Bios 1.1. Driver 6.0.1.6873 ALC1150 realtek. I do get sound to my receiver and I get sound at all speakers in the 5.1 setup when listening to 5.1 sound checker on youtube But rear speakers play at the same time as fronts. Its not right. I can not test the speakers from windows besides the front left/right.
From the MSI Realtek HD Audio Manager when I right click the spdif picture there is an option to go to audio device settings which does nothing when it is clicked. There is 3 red cables with an arrow over the middle one pointing up in the top left corner of this window.
In the Sound Blaster Cinema, there are no options in the "select your speaker setup" window. Not even 2 channel options.

Id hate to buy a new sound card and stick it in this thing. Picked this board because of the awesome sound capabilities advertised.

    **SOLVED**
    MSI tech support:
the built-in digital output will only perform stereo output, and 5.1/7.1 support is only supplied through analog outputs. If you want to output digitally through the SPDIF then you must purchase software solutions. All digital outputs have been like this for years from Realtek/Intel/AMD/others. You can research further on this topic as well.  if you wish to do 5.1 then you have to use a software such as Cyberlink PowerDVD or Corel WinDVD to output as 5.1 sound then your receiver will recognize such signal.
Whats the point of having the optical output if you need to buy $100 of third party software to use it.
Solution: Buy a $100 sound card from newegg and don't waste your time with the crappy on board audio solution.
Was really thinking that onboard audio had made some advancements lately.....Stupid

  • Need help with info about Z87 MPOWER MAX

Im coming from LGA 775.  Dying for an upgrade. Im going with the intel 4770k and msi Z87 MPOWER MAX board. I noticed the board has two 8-pin cpu power ports.   Why is this? Im using my old PSU which is a 1200 watt still kicking so im saving money here until a few more months...
So the real concern is I really don't know why there are 2 8-pin power ports for the CPU... Can anyhone school me on that please. Thanks in advance..

Quote from: Sea Dog on 29-September-13, 14:15:14
Both EPS/ATX headers on the mainboard are to better the balance the CPU power load. The Z87 Power Max is a high end enthusiast board for serious OC'ing, etc. If the PSU does not have the ability to provide both headers, an Athena YEPS828 splitter works very well.
Some PSUs don't have the ability at low power, especially in sleep or hibernate type modes to fire up the system again. A fan connected directly to the PSU eliminates, in some cases, this problem.
    Hi Sea Dog,
My mpower max will sometimes not boot up - when I press the power switch there is no response at all, no fans. Usually when this happens, both the red and blue leds (which indicate which gear the OC Genie operates at) are lit.
I get the system to boot by removing the 24 pin power cable, removing and replacing one stick of ram, hook up the power, then I can use the switch to turn on as normal.
My psu is Corsair AX1200 and is not very old. Do you think I am having the problem you mentioned? or some other issue? Bios is latest, 1.6
    Thanks

Intel does not guarantee anything above 1600MHz.
32GB DDR3-2400 using the stock settings is impossible on any processor.
    So you're going to gamble.
You need to overclock and overvolt the processor.
But it doesn't worth the effort.
The chances to get a long-term stability are very low.
Here is another opinion (from a memory specialist):
    http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/321476-30-1600-2400-32gb-rive
I sure wouldn't use DDR3-2400 in any density, and never with 8GB/stick density.
The chances of stability are very slim without manually increasing the voltages (DRAM, VCCSA, & PLL) to unacceptable levels.
Not to mention the gains are very small between DDR3-1600 vs DDR3-2400.
    High Risk vs Minimal Rewards.
ok i understand intel doesnt gurantee anything above 1600mhz but what i am saying is i was using these rams with my asus mainboard and yes they used to  work  but not anymore because i damaged my cpu when i try to delided the cpu.So i will get a new i4770k platform and of course i will overclock the cpu.But i really wonder will they work with the z87 msi mpower max ? (these rams are in SABERTOOTH Z87 Motherboard Qualified Vendors List link:http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1150/SABERTOOTH-Z87/SABERTOOTH-Z87_DRAM_QVL.pdf.
