Z87I - Windows 8 and Intel Centrino 2230 Bluetooth problem

Hi MSI!
This is my first message on the forum, and unfortunately it is about the problem i face (please forgive me if choose a wrong place to start this topic).
I have just bought and installed the new Z87I (itx) board in my HTPC, and it seams that i cannot activate a Bluetooth on the integrated Intel Centrino 2230 card.
I have installed Windows 8 Pro, as my OS of choice, and all the drivers from the disks i have received with the board.
WiFi is working great, but I don't know how to access the Bluetooth settings so that I can connect my Bluetooth keyboard and phone.
I have searched all over the internet for a possible solution, installed the new drivers from Intel website (15.8.0.0 and 3.0.1304) but I cannot find anything related with Bluetooth in windows settings (control panel, intel proset/wireless tools or in device manager). There are settings for WiFi, but nothing for Bluetooth.
While I was looking in Device Manager, in Network adapters, I saw that Intel Centrino 2230 is recognised, and working proprly (even the Bluetooth AMP is set as Enable).
Has anybody had similar issues with this card and Bluetooth settings??

Have you had any resolution to this yet?

I have Windows 7 and just recently experienced a problem with itunes freezing up when I clicked on the "apps" tab which shows the apps that are loaded on my phone.  Everything else in the itunes software seems to be working okay.  The problem is in the part where you sync the newly purchased apps.  The apps will all be blank that are downloaded and that part of the software crashes itunes or freezes up.  I can get out of itunes okay after the freeze up, but it just stops me from syncing anything that I have newly added.  If anyone has had this problem before or knows someone that has, please let me know how I can fix it.  I have uninstalled and reloaded itunes 4 or 5 times, but the problem is still there.  I might add that I have been using itunes and purchasing apps for 2 to 3 years without any problems.  HELP.

You would get better response from the iTunes community forum.

No. You have no alternative but to plug it into a computer running iTunes and restore it.

  • Tips for blue screen (BSOD) errors with Windows Vista and Intel Turbo Memory on T61/T61p

Important note: The symptoms and solutions described below address only a small subset of the possible causes for blue screen errors, aka BSOD. This information can help address blue screen errors specifically related to Turbo Memory, but may not solve errors related to other issues. Please read through the instructions completely, make sure they apply to your system, and after attempting the solutions please post back with your feedback for the community.
Some users may experience random blue screen errors with ThinkPad
systems running Windows Vista with Intel Turbo Memory hardware. These
blue screens may occur during normal usage on the system or they may
occur when booting into Windows Vista. Blue screens related to the
Intel Turbo Memory hardware may reference a stop code of 8086 with
    memory address locations of {0, 0, 0, 0}.
There are two main steps that you can take to help resolve blue screen issues related to Intel Turbo Memory.
Step 1: Update Intel Turbo Memory Driver
If the driver version is before version 1.0.1.1004-7.0.3.1001, please
    update to this version.
To determine what version of the Intel Turbo Memory driver is installed:
    1.    Click Start, then click Control Panel.
    2.    Click System and Maintenance.
    3.    Click System.
    4.    Click Device Manager.
    5.    Expand the Storage controllers category.
    6.    Double-click Intel Flash Cache Logic Chip.
    7.    Click the Driver tab. Then you will see the driver version (for example, 1.0.1.1004).
The new driver and installation instructions can be found here.
Note: The Intel Matrix Storage Driver is updated with this package.
    Step 2: BIOS version
If your BIOS version is older than those listed below, please update to the version listed.
How to check your BIOS version:
    Turn off the system.
    Turn on the system.
While the To interrupt normal startup, press the blue ThinkVantage button message is displayed at the lower-left area of the screen, press the F1 key.
    The
BIOS Setup Utility menu will be displayed. If you have set a supervisor
password, the BIOS Setup Utility menu appears after you enter the
    password.
Check BIOS Version and Embedded Controller Version.
    Turn off the system.
    System BIOS versions:
    ThinkPad T61/T61p (14.1 inch widescreen with IEEE 1394 model) - BIOS version 1.22 (7LET52WW)
    Please
remember that these updates do not solve every possible system blue
screen, but they do resolve several problems related to the Intel Turbo
    Memory driver.

    Thanks Tim,
I do have my T61p fully up-to-date to the latest drivers and updates (via System Update and the Drivers&Software web page when the former is not that up-to-date).
At the moment the most recurrent problem is this:
    http://forum.lenovo.com/lnv/board/message?board.id=T_Series_Thinkpads&thread.id=55
which has been longly speculated here:
    http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=47755
My other angst is the boot-time chkdsk hang-up problem:
    http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=52765&highlight=chkdsk
I just wonder if this purely a Vista issue when using NV cache, the disk spinning down at almost exactly 1 hour from the beginning of the chdsk operation seems too much of a coincidence.
    This is my T61p configuration:
    Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 2.4GHz
    BIOS version 1.26-1.06
    4GB RAM 2 SO-DIMMs
nVidia Quadro FX 570m with 512MB VRAM
    WUXGA LCD
    Seagate 7200.2 160 GB
    4GB RAM 2 SO-DIMMs
Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit (waiting to move to 64bit)
    thanks,

    Dear Tim,
First off, many thanks for the tips for resolving BSOD with Vista + Turbo Memory on X61.  I've been suffering from this BSOD for countless times since I bought in my X61 7673-CW9 in April 2008.
Even prior to having the pleasure to visit this wonderful forum, I followed both steps as indicated, and updated my Intel Turbo Memory driver to 1.5.0.1013 and my BIOS to 7NETB4WW (2.14).  However, the BSOD recurrs.
For the past two months, I've recovered my system to factory default settings using Rescue and Recovery for over twenty times, each time with the latest Intel Turbo Memory driver and BIOS.  Notwithstanding that, BSOD recurrs.
During these painful experiences, I tried two options: 1) making my X61 up-to-date by using System Update and Windows Update (including Vista SP1 or excluding Vista SP1); 2) keeping my X61 the status as factory default (i.e. without updating through either System Update or Windows Update (the automatic/scheduled update function of both is turned off)).  In either case, BSOD recurrs.
I'm 100% positive that the BSOD does not arise from any hardware or software/firmware I install.  I never install any hardware (e.g. RAM).  And, it is not caused by any software/firmware I install: the clear and unequivocal evidence is that at one time,I encountered BSOD while having restored back to factory setting and booting for the first time.
I live in Taiwan, and I seldom heard this BSOD here.  All of my friends (as most of Taiwan residents) using X61 operate in Traditional Chinese environment, whereas I operate in English environment.  In Taiwan, when booting for the first time after purchase/recovery, the Windows Vista Business system provides for lanuage choice (Traditional Chinese or English), and, once chosen, the language cannot be altered later on (unless, of course, the system is restored back to factory default settings).
My system specs are the same as the day I purchased it and are listed below (as I'm not sure if my machine type X61 7673-CW9 is applicable outside Taiwan):
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T8300 @ 2.4GHz
    Memory: 1.00 G.B.
    System: Windows Vista Business (32-bit)
    Hard Drive: 160 G.B. @ 7,200 r.p.m.
And, of course, with Intel Turbo Memory 1 G.B.
I contacted the Lenovo support staff here in Taiwan for countless times, but they seem to be clueless.  I learned that some friends at this forum downgraded their OS back to Windows XP, but I chose not to.  The reason is simple: my purchase price for X61 7673-CW9 includes the Intel Turbo Memory, which cannot function under Windows XP (at least so far).
Therefore, I just wish to share my experience here and perhaps I can get some advice from you and other friends here.  Any advice will be tremendously and enormously appreciated.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook and Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 WiFi Card

I've got a dv7tqe (Quad Edition HP Pavilion dv7), part #XW397AV, notebook computer.  On page 8 of the manual, it says that the
Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 wifi card is compatible with this laptop.  However, upon further research online from many sources, including suppliers, it appears that this wifi card is not compatible due to HP's whitelist in the BIOS.
I'd like to know from an HP representative whether this card is truly compatible (it's not listed on PartSurfer for this laptop).
I'd also like to know why HP feels the need for a whitelist for wifi cards.  Is it to force your customers to pay your exhorbitant markups for replacement parts?
I'd really like the answers to these questions.  If it's not compatible, then it shouldn't be listed in the manual.
I'm also posting this as a warning to potential future HP customers that these types of inconsistencies as well as gouging their customers for replacement parts is commonplace for HP products.

    Hi:
This is a consumer to consumer forum.
You will not receive any answers to your questions from anyone speaking on behalf of the company (HP).
It is more complicated than the wireless cards having to be listed in the service manual as supported.
    1. They must also have the HP part # on them, or they will not work.
    2. There are a few cards listed in the service manuals that have the wrong part numbers, and no one knows the right part number.
So, when you think you have the right part number, you sometimes get the wrong card which may or may not work.  It just so happens that the Intel 6230 is one of those cards which no one can seem to find the right part # for.
Therefore, changing a wireless card in any HP notebook--especially a consumer model like yours is nothing short of a nightmare.
    3. No one has an answer for the whitelist issue. If you want to believe that it is to force customers to pay exorbitant markups for replacement parts, that is certainly your prerogative.
If you don't want to pay HP's prices, do what I do and go on eBay and query your search by the HP part number and get a used but tested and working wireless card for pennies on the dollar.

I have now updated my Intel driver to 15.5.6 and now several of my websites will not display or load properly. All I get i a white screen with lines of black text or blue hyperlink text. • Is there any "contraindication" about installing every updates from Windows Update (and Intel drivers)?

    Hello!
The question is in the title.
I decided to reinstall Windows 7 on my MacBook Air using Boot Camp and I'm trying to play a video game which is quite laggy. I downloaded and installed the lastest driver for HD Graphics 4000 and my computer didn't explode. Can I also download all the optional updates with Windows Update, including the ones concerning drivers? I read somewhere that we shouldn't install other drivers than the ones on the Boot Camp x.x Support Software installer... Is it true?
    Thanks!

    Peter,
From what I read, I thought Internet based clients always download from Microsoft Windows Update first?
"New in System Center 2012 Configuration Manager, when you have a software update point that is configured to accept connections from the Internet, Configuration Manager Internet-based clients on the Internet always scan against
this software update point, to determine which software updates are required.
However, when these clients are on the Internet, they first try to download the software updates from Microsoft Update, rather than from an Internet-based distribution point. Only if this fails, will they then try to download the required software updates from
an Internet-based distribution point. Clients that are not configured for Internet-based client management never try to download the software updates from Microsoft Update, but always use Configuration Manager distribution points."

  • WRT300n and Intel Centrino 2100b

I have this Router in use (the WRT300n) as an access point. It works fine for 99% of the laptops I use on my network with the exception of the Intel 2100b network card. I can replace the minipci card with any other network adapter and it works great but should I be using an Intel 2100b card my connection will drop in and out constantly. The card has no problem with connecting to the device and speeds are similar to other cards while connected. Both of the devices are updated all the way using the latest software being the September 06 Release from dell for the Intel 2100b and the Firmware Version: v0.93.9 on the router.
I thought I might bring this to the attention of the Linksys guys here who could either get back to me on the problem (maybe there is already a fix) or they could test it themselves and fix it.

Hi… I don’t think there is any issue with either your adapter or your router. It can be a issue with the power management setting on your laptop. Go the properties of this card from devise manager and set the power management for highest. Also make sure whenever you use this card, your laptop is connected to external power source. If you still have the same problem, try changing the wireless channel on your router. You can also go to advance wireless settings and reduce the values for
    i)                    beacon interval to 50
ii)                   Fragmentation Threshold to 2306 and
    iii)                 RTS threshold to 2307.

  • [SOLVED] Intel Centrino 2230 Not Connecting - Lenovo Ideapad Y510p

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Y510p, and I have everything working, except wifi. I tried using both NetworkManager and WICD, and both of them do the same thing. It attempts to authenticate, then it tries to assign an IP, then it just stops. It doesn't do anything else. I've reloaded the module (iwldvm and iwlwifi) multiple times, and have tried disabling the 11n band. I have no idea why it's not working. Any help is greatly appreciated! Sorry for the lack of info, I'm not sure how else to describe it, or what logs to include!

But it sounds as though you simply have conflicting network management services trying to run at the same time.  I imagine that it is probably either dhcpcd.service or [email protected] (or whatever your ethernet interface gets named).
Wow, now I feel stupid. That was it. I forgot I enabled dhcpcd.service a few days ago. I just disabled it and it works perfectly. Thank you so much!

My company recently started using Flash Media Server to

My boss just installed Windows Vista Ultimate and now no

but nothing that accesses the Flash Media Server for content. I've
uninstalled and reinstalled multiple versions of the Flash Player

folder and ran the Flash Updater EXE. I downloaded and installed
all of the available updates through "Windows Update".
I also tested Flash Objects that stream video on Adobe.com
