  • [Z97 Gaming 5] - Booting Issues

    Hi Guys,
I have had the motherboard less than 3 weeks and the board has gone already. My pc was running fine then it reset itself. Once it rebooted it was stuck on 00 with no mouse or keyboard but had loaded up windows.
I then rebooted the computer for it to sit at 00 and reboot 5 times before completely going. When i push the power button it will start but it has no debug LED showing up but everything else will run at full speed.
    What is this?
    Thanks
    Alex Bunn

    Hello,
Please tell us your system spec: >>Posting Guide<<
Also: try to boot with having all USB devices disconnected, with single RAM stick and without graphics card.
And try clearing CMOS: >>Clear CMOS Guide<<

  • Z97 Gaming 7 memory issue.

    MSI Z97 Gaming 7
    MSI GTX 970 Gaming
    Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866 CL9 16GB Dual Kit (XMP 1866mhz 1.500v 9.10.9.27)
Intell Pentium G3258 (Just sold my 4690k, and waiting for my new 4790k)
    Corsair CX750M
    Samsung 850EVO 500GB SSD
    Corsair H100i Cooling.
Good airflow trough case, low temps on all components.
I have a issue with Dimm 2 & 4 when using XMP on my memory.
While using Dimm 2 & 4 my memory have alot of problems. Gets error in most torture test's (Intell burn in, OCCT Linpack, Prime95), random crashes, and so on. Also have got alot of errors in Memtest86+. It is quite random, sometimes it can work for several hours before it gives any error, other times it does that instant.
This does not happend while the memory is used without "overclock" 1333mhz.
But if I use Dimm 1 & 3, i have no issues. I have stable memory, no error's in Memtest86+, Prime95, Intell BurnTest and OCCT Linpack can work for hours, no random crashes in windows and so on.
The motherboard have got the latest FW, i have cleared CMOS, and tried about anything. I can also mention that the memory get slightly better "score" in a benchmark program when i tested it in Dimm1&3 rather than 2&4. Have tested several times, under same temps, and circumstances (~2890-2940 in 2&4, and ~2960-3040 in 1&3)

Have tried re-seating the CPU, but that did not make any difference. Spent a long time looking over all the pins in the socket, and everything lines up just perfect.
Found out that if i use only one ram there is no problem using XMP. But as long as i have Dual, XMP is useless. It will boot windows, but every kind of burn and ram test will get error allmost instant.
I also get errors using slot 1 & 3 as i have tested further. So by now, only thing not making problems with XMP is a single Memory stick.
Still, no problems or errors while memory is at 1333mhz and Dual. No difference if it is in 1&3 or 2&4.

  • Z97 Gaming 5 boot loop

    Hi,
I hope someone around could help me with that, this morning my pc refused to start normally and just boot loop without printing anything on screen. No POST beep, noting...when i force the shutdown by holding power switch it stops but a blue led blinks for a few sec near the CMOS battery...
    My rig:
    Z97 Gaming 5
    i5 4690K @3.5Ghz (stock settings^^)
    RAM : 2x4GB Corsair vengeance 2133Mhz, DDR3
    Noname optical drive
    Samsung 240 evo ssd (250GB)
    Seagate Barracude 2To
MSI GTX 970 Gaming edition 4GB DDR
    PSU: Corsair RM750
    CPU cooler Noctua NH-U12S
I've tried to unplug everything but RAM/CPU, reseted CMOS, but still nothing...only fans spins (case and cpu) and that blue light on forced shutdown. Is there anything i could do or should i just move on to RMA (the mobo is a month old^^) ?

    Hi
    Try single RAM stick
Also try to boot when motherboard is on non conductive surface like wooden table or motherboard box
Try clearing CMOS with power cord removed >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
    Maybe battery replacement will help
If above fails, disconnect everything, remove CPU and inspect CPU socket with magnifying glass and bright light.
Edit: with single RAM stick, make sure to test each RAM stick at the time, each time in different slot.

  • H97 Gaming 3 : Booting issue (A2)

    Hello,
    here's my config :
    H97 Gaming 3 motherboard (bios 1.6)
MSI GTX 750 Ti Twin Frozr Gaming
    8 GB Ram (Kingston)
    1 SSD CRUCIAL 128Go
1 Western Digital Black Edition 1 To
1 Western Digital Green Edition 4 To
    1 BD-R Writer
    650W corsair power supply
When I power on, the bios still displaying A2.
If I disconnect any hard disk the power on, then it boot up.
Then I connect all the disk and boot up. It will boot up correctly only 1 time.
On the next reboot, it will hang with A2 error.
All the disk (and BD-R) are working fine together on another motherboard (asus P7P55d)
If I clear the bios, then it boots fine only 1 time after displaying that the bios was resetted.
On the next boot, it hang with A2 error.
Don't know how to solve it ... Does anyone have an idea ?
    Thanks.

If I reset the bios on the motherboard, on the next boot I have a warning displaying that it was resetted. But I can boot normally just after that (butjust one time, On the next reboot, it hangs again).
Did you try this without the drives and with only one stick of ram?

  • MSI Z97 Gaming 3 BIOS Issue

Hi, I am having some issues trying to boot into the UEFI BIOS on my MSI motherboard. I have tried everything but it only boots into the BIOS after I re-flash it every time or just not use fastboot.
I am using Windows 8.1 64bit and have fastboot enabled so to boot into the UEFI I have to use the MSI Go2Bios app but when I use this it just has a blank screen but everything sounds like it's working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

So if you clear cmos, let the bios get back to default settings, everything will be ok? Weird things happen only when fastboot is enabled??
What BIOS version do you have?

  • Z97 gaming 7 hdd issues

When I built my new computer, I got a 120Gb Samsung 840 Evo for a boot drive.  In order to save some cash I decided to keep my two old 80 Gb WD drives and set up a RAID0.  A week later, the computer would get past the BIOS then go to a black screen with multicolor static near the top of the screen.  No Windows 7.  I unplugged the RAID0 drives, and Windows would start fine.
I broke the RAID0, tested all the SSD and the two 80Gb with three different software, all tested good.  I used Windows to set up the RAID instead of the MoBo.  Good for a week.  Then I scraped some cash together and bought a 256Gb Samsung 850 Pro with the intent of reinstall windows and remove the very old RAID drives.  I tested the new drive before going through the reinstallation.  Same thing again, black screen after Bios with multicolor static at top.  I played with the RAM settings (4X 8Gb GSkill RipJawsX) but to no avail.  I've replaced the SATA cables, and tried multiple ports.
The MoBo does not show any error codes, and Memtest86 says the RAM is good.  What do I check next?
    i7 4790K
    1375W Thermaltake PS
Pioneer Bluray Drive (also SATA, no issues I've noticed)

Sorry, I've been busy and haven't had a chance to deal with this until now. Samsung Magician says the firmware is up to date.
Unfortunately, I live in a small town, and can't buy computer components here.  I have to order them online.  It takes about a week for anything I order online to arrive.  If I continue to have issues, perhaps I will order another brand of SSD as JLio01 suggested.
This morning I disconnected the RAID and connected the new SSD.  I got the same black screen.  I booted from the CD and used diskpart to clean and reformat the drive.  I was able to get into windows.  I shut down and reconnected the RAID, and was able to get into windows again.
I'll test the system for a week before I celebrate.  If I have no issues in that week, I will likely go change the BIOS to AHCI instead of RAID, and reinstall windows.  With two SSD's, I will no longer need the RAID for a "data disk."

  • Z97 Gaming 5 Display issues

So I bought a new motherboard and a processor that it can connect with. I didn't upgraade everything, just board and processor. When I plugged everything from the old board into the new one I wasn't getting a picture on the screen. After consulting someone we tried taking out the cards and what do you know, I get video!
So I know the onboard graphics works now and there isn't anything wrong with the board (that I'm aware of) except maybe the graphic slots. I've got two GTX 460's (an EVGA and Zotac). is there something that I'm maybe doing wrong? Compatibility issues? I am at a loss!

i had a similar issue, my monitor was vga and the graphic card initially gave no output , I shutdown and connected my hdmi tv to the gpu and it worked and then after entering windows shutdown then plugged the vga and it worked , so maybe try different output of the gpu also try with single gpu, I don't think bios update will fix it being its an old gpu the mobo should support it, maybe clear cmos also?

  • Every boot i have to select my boot-drive in BIOS. (Z97 Gaming 5).

    Hi there,
Z97 Gaming 5 Boot Drive issue.
It appears with 80% of boots i am forced to enter BIOS and point it towards my SSD boot-drive. Sometimes the SSD boot drive doesn't even show up and i am forced to constantly reset/power down until it shows up in BIOS. I am running the shipped BIOS and wondered if anyone has rectified this issue without being forced to flash? After reading about people bricking their Z97's and/or flashing to no avail i wasn't too keen on the idea.
    Any support is appreciated, thanks.

Thank you all for your replies. Thanks Svet.
@ flobelix, my OCZ is also a Vertex 2. Well thats fantastic... OS and everything installed on this drive. Curious as to how they cannot be compatible? And why it runs flawlessly once I'm in Windows?
Thanks to this new information Flobelix i came across this thread on Google (http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1865874/ocz-vertex-ssd-recognized-boot-uefi-clock-resets-z87x-d3h-4770.html). Seems a workaround is (if this mobo has one, i need to check) to plug the SSD into an alternative SATA3 controller port (not the Intel SATA ports). Otherwise we're pretty much sh*t out of luck. Which is pretty terrible IMO. Glad mine is only a 120GB.

I put it in the front panel, then i checked the control panel - sound and Windows tell me that the microphone is connected, but dont work. if i put it in the back panel, the realtek HD administrator tell me that something is connected in the microphone slot but WIndows dont detect it.
in the BIOS, the HD Audio is ENABLED. I dont have any idea about what to do now. I have search on this forum but i havent seen this same issue. Can you help me?

    Hi
What you can do is either:
    -Return the board (RMA)
-Try to straighten it yourself using needle, magnifying glass and bright light
-Ask local jeweler if they can straighten it up for you.
