Z97 gaming 5 error code 26

So im troubleshooting a new build and the computer turns on but not post and I get the LED code 00 then 15 then finally 26 but I cant find any reference of code 26- anyone know what it means?
Cheers

So i found that when I moved 1 stick of ram to dimm slot 4, it works and boots up.
However, if I add a second, paired stick to slow 2, the same "26" code appears and the same is true if I have all four sticks in.
I checked in the BIOS to make sure the RAM was set up with the correct voltage and i also have tried each stick indvidually AND in different slots,to no success aside from one stick in Slot 4.
any ideas? Here is my build:

  • MSI Gaming 5 Z97 00 Error Code after Bios Flash

Was using a USB for bios flash through the uefi bios. I chose ME flash, and it flashed ME then rebooted and then flashed the bios and then it finally rebooted but to a black screen. After a few minutes, I restart the computer and it has an 00 error code now. I removed the graphics card and cleared the CMOS.

I flipped the PSU off, I always do that.
remove the power cord itself from the electrical outlet
after that proceed with >>Clear CMOS Guide<<

  • Z97 Gaming 5 - code 00

Since I moved my pc over to a new case I'm having some problems. When I boot it, 9 out of 10 times it shuts off again after a second. When it doesn't, it doesn't do anything and the mobo's debug code shows 00. Does this mean a dead board or could there be something else wrong?
    CPU: i7 4790k
GPU: MSI GTX 980 Gaming 4G

    Hi
Take it out of the case and try booting on non conductive surface like wooden table or motherboard box. As from what you say, sounds like new case shortens something somewhere

  • MSI Z97 Gaming 7 (A2 ERROR CODE)

Hi everyone, because I have a problem with my Motherboard MSI Z97 Gaming 7 is that when I turn on my PC after display the code 99 and 9C, remains suspended in A2. From what I've read, this code is for a hard drive failure. The system remains in A2 indefinitely code until the reset button is pressed PC. In the second restart smoothly enters the operating system.
    My System Hardware is:
    *MSI Z97 Gaming 7 (1.90 BIOS)
*Intel Core I7 4770K (NO Overclock)
    *16GB Corsair Vengeance (2x8GB) Memory

Then I tell them what I have tried without success this problem.
    * Update BIOS to 1.9 Versión (Latest)

    * Change SATA Cables
    * Change SATA Ports
    * Reinstall Windows 8.1 in UEFI and Legacy Mode
    * Test each Ram Memory Sticks
    * Disconect internal USB Card Reader, Front Ports and Corsair Digital Link
    * Test try another SSD (Kingston V300 128GB)

You could try your device 1 by 1 and see which one of it is causing the A2 issue
about this i already suggested the same:
Quote from: Svet on 23-April-15, 21:42:28
connected them one by one, and see which is causing this hang eventually
he said any one of them alone is caused this A2 when its connected:
Quote from: sebastianmancipe on 23-April-15, 21:49:10
Already perform this test with any 3 devices, SSD, HDD or DVD's the same.
Curiously hangs on A2 code when first turned not when restarted.

¿this version of BIOS where it came from? It is official? because they have not posted on the official website of the Z97 Gaming 7? as had understood the latest BIOS for this motherboard is the 1.90
its official, but beta bios and newer than your current.
try all other things 1st that people suggested you, leave bios flashing as last option

  • Z97 Gaming 5 Debug Codes 41, 42, 43, and 44

Just built my first PC and I am having issues with it.
I have it plugged into a monitor and it does not display anything but I am getting codes on debug codes on the motherboard.
My build is below in case it helps.

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler

Optical Drive: *LG UH12NS30 Blu-Ray Reader, DVD/CD Writer
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit)
Like the subject said I am getting a few error codes.
It starts at the lower numbers than sticks around for a bit eventually moving to the higher ones and seems to cap at 44.
Any help on this issue would be immensely appreciated.
Also as a side note I have checked the users manual error code listings but it doesn't seem to contain these specific codes. If I am wrong on this could you tell me where on the manual it lists these?
Thank you very much for your time.

I get visual output when I unplug my video card.
When entering the boot menu and selecting UEFI: Built-In EFI Shell I get the following
    EFI: Shell version 2.31  [4.655]

                PCiRoot(0x0)/PCi(0x1f,0x2)/Sata(0x0,5x0)
Press ESC in 1 seconds to skip startup.nsh, any other key to continue
    Shell>
Doesn't matter what I press it doesn't do anything
Entering setup instead of the EFI shell takes me to MSi's click bios 4
When I enter the board explorer it shows all the components that I have plugged in as running.
I am at a complete loss to what I need to do to install updates, OS, and to get my video card working.
    listed above sounds correct
you need to boot from a bootable device who contain your OS installation disk to proceed with OS install.
    about your Video card
when you install it, in which slot is placed?
and have you connected your display to it after that? [not to onboard GPU]
and have you attached all power cables for it?

Good day. I`ve changed my gtx 770 OC from gigabyte to msi 970 gaming 4g. After windows loaded i have exclamation on gtx 970 in device manager - error code 43. Tried clean install new drivers with DDU. Tried all driver from 344.11 to 344.80. Updated bios for my mobo and video. Reinstalled win 8.1 x64  and win 10 tp - same error :( I was thinking that my card is dead and tried to install win 7 x64. And it works perfectly in win 7, no errors.
Any thoughts how i can make it work in win 8.1 ? (tried to turn of gen3, standby and etc in bios. Hypervisor is not active in win 8.1 too)
    My Pc:
    cpu i4670k
    mobo z87p-d3 (f8 bios)
    ram 2x4gb kingston
video msi gtx970 gaming 4g ( latest bios)
    psu zalman zm600-gsII
    1 ssd and 3 hdd

sounds like there is some kind of compatibility issue
have you tried MSI VGA drivers from smi web for your card?
else ask your mainboard vendor for bios update
    other options/tips:
    * tell S/N of your card and save and upload its current vbios to check for updates
    * test the card in another computer with Win8.1 OS to verify if will works there

  • MS-7926 (Z97 GAMING 9 AC) BSOD + Memory Problems

    Hello All,
i have some trouble with my new system.
    - MS-7926 Rev 1.0 (MSI Z97 GAMING 9 AC) with BIOS/UEFI v1.4 (but same with v1.3)
    - Intel i7-4790K (with Prolimatech Armageddon)
    - 16GB (4x 4GB) Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 1866
    - Gigabyte GTX770 Windforce 3 4GB (working stable for several months in my old system)
    - Windows 7 x64 SP1
After completion occured some unnormal BSOD with unspecific Error Codes even in Idle-Desktop, e.g.. 0A (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL), 1E (KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED), and some others. I reinstalled Windows and drivers again but problem stayed.
Then i used MemTest86+ v5.01. While 4 passes only 1 time an error happened. While Test #7 at 0.0 MB (seems DIMM1). I exchanged DIMM1 with 4 and tested further. Again 1 error in 3 passes. This time at 0.8 MB (again DIMM1). The former DIMM1 now at DIMM4 produced no errror.
I exchanged the board. BSOD are now less often but still there. Again MemTest finds the same strange error only in DIMM1, equally which of the 4 same modules sits in there.
I've found some reports about problems with Crucial Ballistix and MSI Boards and now i wonder if someone has running such combination without problems?
Any other thoughts to solve it?

That is most likely the issue. That is called mixing which is NOT recommended, especially if all of these were separately sold sticks.
Even mixing of 2 kits of 2x4 can be an issue.
If you are able to borrow MATCHED 4x4 set from a friend/colleague from work, then do it so you can test how it works.
As these are Crucials, I would contact them and ask if they could replace 4 separate modules for 1 matched kit. At least Corsair does similar, so hopefully Crucial would do it too.

  • MSI Z97 Gaming 7 not booting up

    Hi guys,
I have just purchased new motherboard & new intel core i7 4790K. I've installed everything & when I tried to boot up the system it stuck to 72 error code during post checks in manual which states as "Late South Bridge Initalization" Please help guys as I m not able to boot up the system.. My configuration is as follows:
    Intel core i7 4790k
    MSI Z97 Gaming 7 MoBo
    Corsair XMS 3 4Gb RAM
    Corsair H100i CPU cooler
    Corsair CS750M PSU
    NZXT Source 530 cabinet
    Please help guys ....

    Hi
What you can do is either:
    -Return the board (RMA)
-Try to straighten it yourself using needle, magnifying glass and bright light
-Ask local jeweler if they can straighten it up for you.

  • Msi z97 gaming motherboard displays debug led D0 (00) .

    Hello all.
    I urgently need some advice.
I recently bought a msi z97 gaming 5 motherboard and I had it installed into my rig.  Everything was working fine. I decided to do some cable management in my case today and afterwards wanted to switch my pc on to find it dead. I switched off the power and made sure that I discharged all electrostatic power.
The psu delivers power to the board as all the case fans spin, the light trail lights up an my fan controller works.
My peripherals (key board,  mouse) don't   light, as well as my monitor. There is ia also no boot beeps.
The debug led displays a code 00 which is  not in the manual. I already tried removing the cmos batery  and also cleared the cmos with the cmos jumper en still nothing.
I even removed both my ram modules and still no boot beeps.
If there is someone out there please help...

i got the same issue by chance few days ago 00 error but with dual bios chip board.
    and able to fix it,
i narrow it down that somehow the bios chip selection wasn't switched ..
even after power off, and flip the switch i meet 00 error and no LED on bios chip has light
switching to the secondary bios chip worked fine,
then when i flip the bios chip while the system was booted, switching was successfully,
and at next power off and power up was booting with the other bios chip fine and no longer 00 error
however for your board, i see board has 1 bios chip only
im not sure if would have bios chip led indicator or not..
checking high res image of your board at: https://media.msi.com/main.php?g2_itemId=110010&g2_imageViewsIndex=1
think i can see the led indicator side by side to JBAT1
so your board probably also should have bios chip led indicator
and based on your second photo that you provided: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=253991.0;attach=22345;image
i don't see this LED to light... it should be near to 00 debug code
so probably bios chip doesn't kick in for some reason...
and i don't know how this can be fixed since your board don't have dual bios chips..
looks like something become damaged when you tried to re-arrange your cables..
else don't have idea what else you can try, except to rma the board

  • No signal with Z97 Gaming 5 + HD7850

    Hi,
First post here so if there's something to add to it, tell me
So I bought an upgrade kit which had an i5 4670k with a Z97 Gaming 5 and 8gb RAM. It looks like this now :
    Board: MSI Z97 Gaming 5
    Bios: Version 1.2
    VGA:   Sapphire HD7850 2Go
    PSU:   Corsair TX650w (52A - 624W)
    Intel Core i5-4670k
    MEM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 2x4Gb
    HDD: Samsung 840 120Go + Seagate Barracuda 4To + SanDisk SSD 120Go
    COOLER: all stock
    OS: Windows 7 64bit Professional
My problem is, since I have this new kit, my PC doesn't want to work anymore with my HD7850. I made a fresh install of Windows incase of incompatibility with my old AMD CPU but now, when I try to boot the computer, nothing shows on screen. To make it work, I have to unplug it and boot with the Intel Graphics 4600 inside my CPU, which is not optimal for gaming
I checked with an old HD4850 and it seemed to boot up correctly, but not with the HD7850.
Something I don't understand is it worked one time. I could play 4h straight with the new Wolfenstein, then the next day the same thing happened.
My motherboard shows no error code on the LED chip, as it boots up as usual except there's no video signal.
I'm asking here some help since I have no clue of what is happening
    Thanks

So I tried to CMOS, I guess it changed something because it booted and I could use Windows until I launched World of Warcraft.
BlueScreen with "Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed", so I guess there's a problem somewhere :p
I checked my graphic card downloads options, and there's only downloads like "Catalyst" and HydroVision thing. So I guess there's no options for a vbios update. I'll send them a mail but a 2-year old graphic card and from what I saw on Internet and forums, they really don't care about it :/

  • Z97 gaming 7 : the speaker not "beep" at start

    Hello,
I'm french, sorry for my english.
    I have a Z97 gaming 7 motherboard, and she's arrive without any speaker/buzzer.
So I buy buzzer (speaker) for motherboard, and I connect it right way (the arrow on the +... or red wire on the +)
    Always not beep.
I try another buzzer, and another again (they works all on other motherboards)...
Always not work (no "beep") on this MB...
I try in the other way (arrow on ground)... not work again!
I try 3 bios revisions = not works!
I think is a software not activate the beep... (in the UEFI bios)
    How activat it please?
    Thank in advance!

Quote from: Nichrome on 03-May-15, 06:32:16
Don't really understand it.. if it works fine, it works.
If doesn't work, you got LED debug on the motherboard which will tell you error, and at least you don't have to listen to it but just write down the code.
Ansd if it works fine, it need to beep to confirm it...
Because if you have any problem aren't report at begin, and if this problem touch the part of speaker... pc don't beep!
The simple beep is the confirmation of "all right"!
If I push button to start, and a consumer arrive, i'm not behind the pc (just an exemple)... the pc starts with an error... my harddrives and ssd have a power courant instable and break down...
The first simple beep is just a security to confirm all is clear in hardware, bios start up and can use security (switch off) if any hardware pb detecting!
So, I understand... I choose msi because is the low price solution, but next time, I choose better :/
(I came from abit (AB9 PRO, KN8 ultra, etc...) and there super-equiped MB... so... it's a chok for me...)

  • Z97 gaming 5 - A2 and 9C

    Hi,
I have read some topics about it, but want to double check. While PC is booting, these codes flashes one by one on screen (lower right corner) and on led which is on MoBo. But it doesn't stay on it , just short flash.
So is it OK (its doing some kind of checking) or it is sign that something wrong in system?
    My PC specs:
    Z97 Gaming 5
    Gtx970 gigabyte G1
    I5 4690k
    SSD samsung Evo
    HDD WD black
    PSU CM V850
    Thanks.

So yesterday I installed my PC parts again - re-connected cables to PSU/PC components, made HDD/SSD re-connections, changed CMOS battery to new. I left the fan splitt'er connected for now.
For first day no restarts, all good. Will monitor further. Some observations made:
    - PSU connection to mobo power (20+4 pin) - it seemed that it was loose in PSU side, but maybe I pulled it when taking out other connections.
    - other parts seemed to be installed correctly. I made one change just in case - my HDD and SSD was connected with same power cable, I split them by adding one more cable to PSU to separate them.
After start, configured BIOS (as it was reset by changing battery), then booted to windows normally.
After idea came just to check do I have latest drivers from MoBo side - so I ran MSI update Live 6, which was crashing each time I tried to scan. So I went to MoBo page, downloaded latest drivers and installed all drivers - some of them was latest with no need to install.
    Some strange observations:
    - I uninstalled Intel USB 3.0 intel usb 3.0 extensible host controller - it was getting me errors while installing/updating, and I read in some forums that these drivers can cause issues (bsod and stuff like that). My USB devices works after, no issues after uninstall.
    - I was installing Intel Management Engine Driver+Microsoft hotfix driver - and it showed me that i have newer version - but I didn't (I had 10.0.30 and in support web it is 10.0.31 update). So I went ahead with installation of downloaded driver, even if OS thought I have newer version.
    - and last and most interesting one - after installing one of the drivers (don't remember which one exactly) - popup window opened with information that my SSD drive is installed successfully (like it happens when you plug new device).... and here is my OS... so I wouldn't be surprised if this was the cause.
Still, I will go ahead with Win 8.1 upgrade, and we'll see if issue still here.

  • Z97 Gaming 9 won't post

So I've tried two different monitors as well as starting the machine with and without a graphics card but don't see anything come up on the screen.  I've done the jumper thing to reset the BIOS as well as set it to the second BIOS.  I've also checked all cables to make sure they're plugged in.  Any ideas?

Board: MSI Z97 Gaming 9 AC
    Bios: ?
VGA: (tried with GTX 980 and without)
PSU: XFX PRO 850W (+12V rail (up to 53A/636W))
    Intel Core i7-4790K
    MEM: 2 of Kingston HyperX FURY 8GB Kit (2x4GB) 1866MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM - Red (HX318C10FRK2/8)
HDD: Seagate Desktop SSHD (2TB) (Hybrid drive)
COOLER: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120mm PWM Fan (RR-212E-20PK-R2)
    OC: Never OC'd
    OS: Nothing yet
When I had all 4 sticks of RAM in there it'd cycle: 00, 10, 15, 55 for the debug codes.  I've cycled the ram and found that my error code for 1 or 2 sticks is: A2

I use my pc mostly for gaming,
I bought en build my pc on September 2015 but now and then I get a very bad crash, the crash shuts down my pc (no blue screen / no Error) just a black screen with a pc that won’t respond on anything. The lights are on at my motherboard cpu cooler and GPU, but no respond. To turn my pc on again I have to shut down the main power switch. After 10 seconds I can start up my pc again.
I get the following windows event: id 41 kernel power
    Scenario:
This began when I played Dragon age 3 in December, I got the crash twice in like 100 hours. (not a big deal) than I got the same crash once when I played GTA V with 60 hours more or less. But now when I playing the Witcher 3 wild hunt I get it every 5 minutes.
What did I try to fix it but won’t work:
    - Memtest run x10 no error
    - Drivers up to date
    - The temps under full load are great CPU they won’t go over 51 degrease / GPU 68 degrees / the rest won’t go over 45 degrees.
    - I got no virus.
    - Everything is connected just fine.
I hope you guys can help me out.
    Kind regards,
    Tijs Dragtsma from the Netherlands

May be your PSU being too weak or going bad (I doubt though). Although you have 9 fans.. maybe try disconnecting case fans and leave only CPU cooler ones to work?
