Z97 Gaming 7 failed A-BIOS update

Hello, first of all i would like to apologize for my terribly English...
I can`t boot my computer after "A bios" upgrade (v1.1 to v1.5) via M-Flash. "B bios" is working normally.
Now, if I boot computer with A bios it nothing shows on a monitor and HDD led is lights up constantly.
I tried to repair "A bios" using M-Flash/Select  one file to update  BIOS, but it did not help. I have got a message - "Bios file selected could only update BIOS and cannot update ME!! If you just want to update bios, please go to "Select one file to update BIOS" or select another Bios file with ME to use this function".
Question: where i can download - "bios file with ME"?
Then I tried to repair "A bios" using  >> the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<< . It still didn`t help.
Unfortunately I can`t attach a picture, but there it is written - "ROM file ROMID is not compatible with existing BIOS ROMID" and then - "BIOS update FAILURE!!"
May be, with compatible bios version, it would have been more successful...
In sum... the A bios is not working and I don`t know what to do. Only hope for your help))

You need a special archive and follow the below to allow fpt flashing, else it won't work.
>>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
A.) Download the attached archive and place it on your desktop. Do not decompress.
B.) Download and install the Forum flash tool.
C.) Insert your FAT32 formatted usb stick.
D.) Make sure that all win 8 options are disabled. (Fast Boot etc) Also make sure the legacy USB is enabled.
E.) Start the forum flash tool and select option 1. Then point the tool at the compressed archive we downloaded earlier. Then to your USB Flash Drive.
F.) Boot to the USB from working bios B.
G.) Once it booted successfully switch to bios A without powering down or rebooting
H.) Now follow the directions and let the tool flash bios A with 1.5
I.) After flashing reinstall ME drivers in Windows: http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/intel_amt90_mb.zip

1.) Vbios versions vary with-in models. This is due to different variations and improvements made in time. In order for us to be able to get you the right VBIOS. We need your serial number. The serial number can be found on a sticker on the bottom of your card or on the box in which it came.

the card now I do not have here, but do not think it's possible given that black screen

a copy of the current vbios saved to file (use a system where card works, save to file, upload to some file hoster and add link here)

3.) If we need to check if thier is a more recent version. We can check your Vbios in one of two ways.
A.) Upload a copy of your current vbios somewhere and give us a link. You can save a copy of your vbios using >>GPU-Z<<.
B.) You can also just use NVFLASH >>Download NVFLASH for windows<<
    Syntax:
    nvflash /v >rep.txt [ENTER]
This will copy all of the information we need into a txt file you will fine in the folder in which you placed nvflash.

  • Failed vga bios update

I used the liveupdate 3 to update my vga bios and when it rebooted the computer the videocard wont work now.  I flipped the twinbios to the safe mode but nothing happened.  When i put my old card in it works fine.  Any suggestions?

Nope, I don't think so, not on the Dongle unless MSI is doing something I do not know about.
The Jumper is located on the card itself, please refer to the manual for the location.
If you have flashed the wrong BIOS:
The MSI cards have a dual bios feature.
Move the jumper to 2'nd position (there is only one jumper on the cards).
    Boot with the secondary bios
Move jumper back while system is up and running
Use live update again (the backup bios is not being overwritten since you moved the jumper back).

Yes, with Apple Keyboard access to BIOS is possible. It has two USB ports ("hubs") too, like Genius Imperator Pro. I thought that it could be a cause of this problem, but...

You could try your device 1 by 1 and see which one of it is causing the A2 issue
about this i already suggested the same:
Quote from: Svet on 23-April-15, 21:42:28
connected them one by one, and see which is causing this hang eventually
he said any one of them alone is caused this A2 when its connected:
Quote from: sebastianmancipe on 23-April-15, 21:49:10
Already perform this test with any 3 devices, SSD, HDD or DVD's the same.
Curiously hangs on A2 code when first turned not when restarted.
Quote from: sebastianmancipe on 24-April-15, 04:12:03
¿this version of BIOS where it came from? It is official? because they have not posted on the official website of the Z97 Gaming 7? as had understood the latest BIOS for this motherboard is the 1.90
its official, but beta bios and newer than your current.
try all other things 1st that people suggested you, leave bios flashing as last option

  • MS-7926 (Z97 GAMING 9 AC) BSOD + Memory Problems

    Hello All,
i have some trouble with my new system.
    - MS-7926 Rev 1.0 (MSI Z97 GAMING 9 AC) with BIOS/UEFI v1.4 (but same with v1.3)
    - Intel i7-4790K (with Prolimatech Armageddon)
    - 16GB (4x 4GB) Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 1866
    - Gigabyte GTX770 Windforce 3 4GB (working stable for several months in my old system)
    - Windows 7 x64 SP1
After completion occured some unnormal BSOD with unspecific Error Codes even in Idle-Desktop, e.g.. 0A (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL), 1E (KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED), and some others. I reinstalled Windows and drivers again but problem stayed.
Then i used MemTest86+ v5.01. While 4 passes only 1 time an error happened. While Test #7 at 0.0 MB (seems DIMM1). I exchanged DIMM1 with 4 and tested further. Again 1 error in 3 passes. This time at 0.8 MB (again DIMM1). The former DIMM1 now at DIMM4 produced no errror.
I exchanged the board. BSOD are now less often but still there. Again MemTest finds the same strange error only in DIMM1, equally which of the 4 same modules sits in there.
I've found some reports about problems with Crucial Ballistix and MSI Boards and now i wonder if someone has running such combination without problems?
Any other thoughts to solve it?

That is most likely the issue. That is called mixing which is NOT recommended, especially if all of these were separately sold sticks.
Even mixing of 2 kits of 2x4 can be an issue.
If you are able to borrow MATCHED 4x4 set from a friend/colleague from work, then do it so you can test how it works.
As these are Crucials, I would contact them and ask if they could replace 4 separate modules for 1 matched kit. At least Corsair does similar, so hopefully Crucial would do it too.

  • MSI Z97 Gaming 7.. No Audio out of SPDIF / USB Audio low / SB Cinema Crashes

I use a TOS for my speakers and I'm not getting any audio out.  I have S/PDIF selected as default under Audio in control panel.   Not sure if the "SB Cinema" works on the digital side, but it crashes all the time when I open it.  My USB Logitech 930 is up all the way.  The audio is very low. Running Win8.1 and BIOS 1.10..  I'm about to update to 1.50

Sorry can't help you much with the audio issue, although something doesn't sound right (no pun intended).  SB should be working.  I have the same board as you with a 4790k and my SB works great, but I don't have it running at startup.
Just be careful with the BIOS update to v1.5.  You'll be rolling the dice to try it.  I'm still reeling from frustration with my Gaming 7 board and BIOS updates.  I borked BIOS A with a bad flash from "M Flash" and now am running on the backup BIOS B.  I did manage though to get BIOS B updated to v1.5 though just tonight.  But A is still down for the count.
At least my system is running great on BIOS B.  Thank God for these dual BIOS'es.

  • Bios update fail on Z97 Gaming 7, how to restore?

    Hey all,
Today i decided to reinstall my gaming pc and i also wanted to update the Bios, i was on version 1.4 or 1.5 before i believe.
I downloaded the latest bios for the gaming 7 from the MSI website, bios version 1.8.
When i flashed the bios from the USB stick i got some error, didnt write it down, i pushed a key and the installation continued.
After the flash the pc wanted to reboot and i realised the flash failed, my pc turned on for about 1 sec and off again, so it kept looping like that.
After reading the manual i booted my pc in Bios B (wich still is original i never used it) through the flip switch and my machiene booted up again.
According to the manual i had to make a bootable usb stick and copy the new bios to is to reflash the (failed) A bios.
I made the bootable USB stick with Freecom and copyed the new 1.8 bios to the root of the stick, after powering on my pc in Bios B and booted from the USB stick i switched the switch back to Bios A.
I did everything according to the manual but i get the error that the ROMID isnt compatible with existing ROMID and i think its because of the failed flash in bios A.
Tried flashing Bios 1.8 and 1.6 to make sure 1.8 isnt broken, see attached picture.
What can i do to restore Bios A again so i can safely try to update one of the 2 biosses to the newest version ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Rgds,
    Martijn

  • [SOLVED] MSI Z97 Gaming 9 AC - Bios Update Fail

    Hi,
today i decided to do a bios update of my board.
A friend of me told me NOT to use the Windows-Flash tool cause he killed two borads with it.
Ok so i used the flash utility from the bios/uefi menu with a usb-stick (M-Flash).
Everything looked ok - flash tool was running and told me success/complete and it will now reboot/reset.
At this time i wasn't able to boot anymore
It was like the board tried to read the flash but failed, reset, failed ...
Lucky for me there is this little switch for the bios chip.
Everything worked with the backup chip and i tried to reflash the broken master chip.
-> Using the MSI E-Setup with Mode "In DOS Mode. (USB)".
Booting up the usb stick and switched to master bios chip when i was seeing the "alert - only continue when you know what you are doing bla bla"-message.
Wasn't able to flash anything cause of error:
    Quote
ROMID is not compatible with existing BIOS ROMID
Asking google i should use the /X option (/X - Don't Check ROM ID).
Now i got a new error
    Quote
Rom image layout detected RomHole is redesigned
With this message i should use the /K option (/K - Program all non-critical blocks) i was told ... now a was able to flash the chip
    And the result was: fail
I found the "HQ USB flashing tool" here and tried to flash the broken chip again (switching the bios switch from backup to master after booting), but also no luck for me ...
After a break i had an idea - at which time i can switch from the backup chip to the master chip?
The bootcode "A2" was the right for me
At the bios/uefi setup all my fans were running at full speed and i was sure this is because of the broken master chip.
So again i tried the M-Flash tool from the setup - f**k it will reset/reboot before the flash progress will start - but now i know the time to switch from backup to master chip
The tool started and i saw the same messages (everything ok, reset/reboot) as i tried it the first time.
    Reboot - SUCCESS!
I wasted about three hours of my live to brick and unbrick the master chip, but i don't know why this happend
Maybe this post will help someone to fix a failed bios update.

  • Msi z97 gaming 5 bios update help

Hello I recently purchased the msi z97 gaming 5 motherboard. It was working fine it came with bios version 1.0 and I wanted to update it. I downloaded the latest 1.5 bios from msi website copied to usb flash drive and flashed it using mflash. Computer powers on but black screen wont do nothing. I cleared cmos and battery and still nothing so I am pretty sure its bricked. I am going to store to exchange it for another one but I want to be able to safely update the bios without bricking again. I usually dont update bios unless needed but i need at least 1.2 bios to fully support the devils canyon cpu. Can someone please point me in the right direction? I read about the usb flashing tool in forum but also read that bios+me need to be flashed and I don't know if that program is up to date and will flash both files? I really appreciate it if someone helped thanks in advance.

Also does anyone know if it is dangerous to update the bios with a 4690k devils canyon cpu since it is not officially supported until 1.2? Is that why my first bios flash was bricked? I would hate to go and borrow another cpu just to update the bios but if I have to I will. Sorry for all the questions but I need to get my bios updated and I will not update it until I am sure of all these things. Thanks to anyone who answers these questions.
