Z97 Gaming 7 keyboard freezes at BIOs

Hi just got the Z97 GAMING 7 motherboard couple of days ago and every time I apply a mild OC my keyboard freezes after 5-10 minutes of staying in the BIOS. Mild OC of 4/4.1GHz with 1.125vcore, for eg., renders my keyboard frozen and I've to press the reset button. This started happening since yesterday. Before this it never used to happen. The lights of the keyboard stays on, it even switches on/off when num lock is pressed, but nothing else responds, like the arrow key don't do anything!!
I'd this a known issue?? I did read some where that msi motherboards send to be having the USB issues but in not a hundred percent sure.

Try to remove OC with >>Clear CMOS Guide<< and see if it works fine then

I wanted to know if the motherboard "MSI Z97 gaming 9 ac" is compatible with vga "N780 tf 3gd5/oc." I have upgraded the motherboard bios to version 1.4 (the latest released 06/30/2014). In case it is not compatible, you may release an update of the motherboard and make it compatible? Thanks in advance

1.) Vbios versions vary with-in models. This is due to different variations and improvements made in time. In order for us to be able to get you the right VBIOS. We need your serial number. The serial number can be found on a sticker on the bottom of your card or on the box in which it came.

3.) If we need to check if thier is a more recent version. We can check your Vbios in one of two ways.
A.) Upload a copy of your current vbios somewhere and give us a link. You can save a copy of your vbios using >>GPU-Z<<.
B.) You can also just use NVFLASH >>Download NVFLASH for windows<<
    Syntax:
    nvflash /v >rep.txt [ENTER]
This will copy all of the information we need into a txt file you will fine in the folder in which you placed nvflash.

  • Z97 Gaming 7 failed A-BIOS update

Hello, first of all i would like to apologize for my terribly English...
I can`t boot my computer after "A bios" upgrade (v1.1 to v1.5) via M-Flash. "B bios" is working normally.
Now, if I boot computer with A bios it nothing shows on a monitor and HDD led is lights up constantly.
I tried to repair "A bios" using M-Flash/Select  one file to update  BIOS, but it did not help. I have got a message - "Bios file selected could only update BIOS and cannot update ME!! If you just want to update bios, please go to "Select one file to update BIOS" or select another Bios file with ME to use this function".
Question: where i can download - "bios file with ME"?
Then I tried to repair "A bios" using  >> the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<< . It still didn`t help.
Unfortunately I can`t attach a picture, but there it is written - "ROM file ROMID is not compatible with existing BIOS ROMID" and then - "BIOS update FAILURE!!"
May be, with compatible bios version, it would have been more successful...
In sum... the A bios is not working and I don`t know what to do. Only hope for your help))

  • MS-7926 (Z97 GAMING 9 AC) BSOD + Memory Problems

    Hello All,
i have some trouble with my new system.
    - MS-7926 Rev 1.0 (MSI Z97 GAMING 9 AC) with BIOS/UEFI v1.4 (but same with v1.3)
    - Intel i7-4790K (with Prolimatech Armageddon)
    - 16GB (4x 4GB) Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 1866
    - Gigabyte GTX770 Windforce 3 4GB (working stable for several months in my old system)
    - Windows 7 x64 SP1
After completion occured some unnormal BSOD with unspecific Error Codes even in Idle-Desktop, e.g.. 0A (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL), 1E (KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED), and some others. I reinstalled Windows and drivers again but problem stayed.
Then i used MemTest86+ v5.01. While 4 passes only 1 time an error happened. While Test #7 at 0.0 MB (seems DIMM1). I exchanged DIMM1 with 4 and tested further. Again 1 error in 3 passes. This time at 0.8 MB (again DIMM1). The former DIMM1 now at DIMM4 produced no errror.
I exchanged the board. BSOD are now less often but still there. Again MemTest finds the same strange error only in DIMM1, equally which of the 4 same modules sits in there.
I've found some reports about problems with Crucial Ballistix and MSI Boards and now i wonder if someone has running such combination without problems?
Any other thoughts to solve it?

That is most likely the issue. That is called mixing which is NOT recommended, especially if all of these were separately sold sticks.
Even mixing of 2 kits of 2x4 can be an issue.
If you are able to borrow MATCHED 4x4 set from a friend/colleague from work, then do it so you can test how it works.
As these are Crucials, I would contact them and ask if they could replace 4 separate modules for 1 matched kit. At least Corsair does similar, so hopefully Crucial would do it too.

  • MSI Z97 Gaming 7 keyboard on BIOS error

I recently get this motherboard and I have problems to enter on BIOS with my Genius Imperator Pro keyboard. This error appears on BIOS version 1.6 and continues to current version 1.8. On 1.5 or 1.4 everything is O.K.

Yes, with Apple Keyboard access to BIOS is possible. It has two USB ports ("hubs") too, like Genius Imperator Pro. I thought that it could be a cause of this problem, but...

  • Msi z97 gaming 5 bios update help

Hello I recently purchased the msi z97 gaming 5 motherboard. It was working fine it came with bios version 1.0 and I wanted to update it. I downloaded the latest 1.5 bios from msi website copied to usb flash drive and flashed it using mflash. Computer powers on but black screen wont do nothing. I cleared cmos and battery and still nothing so I am pretty sure its bricked. I am going to store to exchange it for another one but I want to be able to safely update the bios without bricking again. I usually dont update bios unless needed but i need at least 1.2 bios to fully support the devils canyon cpu. Can someone please point me in the right direction? I read about the usb flashing tool in forum but also read that bios+me need to be flashed and I don't know if that program is up to date and will flash both files? I really appreciate it if someone helped thanks in advance.

Also does anyone know if it is dangerous to update the bios with a 4690k devils canyon cpu since it is not officially supported until 1.2? Is that why my first bios flash was bricked? I would hate to go and borrow another cpu just to update the bios but if I have to I will. Sorry for all the questions but I need to get my bios updated and I will not update it until I am sure of all these things. Thanks to anyone who answers these questions.

  • Update Z97 Gaming 5 BIOS

    Hi,
I recently have acquired this motherboard and come with BIOS v1.0 (build date: 08/2014)
    My system specs are:
    i5 4690k
    msi z97 gaming 5
    ATI radeon hd5750
    HyperX Savage 16gb ram 1600Mhz
    SSD 850 EVO 250Gb
    HDD Samsung 750Gb
sometime the system is unstable (mainly when I'm downloading a file at max Mbs the CPU goes to 100%) so I'm think to update bios to the last version 1.9
I see the like referred MSI Forum HQ USB flashing tool. My first question is: Is this procedure different  than the normal procedure using M-Flash?
I see that I can update BIOS on the site in this way:
    1) Download last BIOS (7917v19.zip)
    2) Put it on removable drive (with FAT32)
    3) Restart PC going On the MSI Click BIOS 4
    4) Load the downloaded BIOS using M-Flash utilities
Are there some steps that I missing? Is this procedure safe if I have all PC assembled with all piece (CPU, RAM, HDD, etc.)?
    Best Regards
    Vincenzo

    Hi,
I've to download BIOS 1.0 form MSI site or Save it form BIOS in order to have exactly the previous?
I think the one from the site should be fine, won't do any harm to save the one you have either.
    Quote from: sorrentinov
If something goes wrong is possible to reload the old Bios?
This depends on how wrong it went.
    Quote from: sorrentinov
Moreover I have to disconnect something or can I flash with all PC assembled?
You can never be too safe, but you should be good with everything connected as long there is no OC, CPU or RAM.
Some BIOS instructions requite that the flash drive is recognized as removable, see instruction on MSI site.
    Quote from: sorrentinov
The better way to update bios is using m-flash?
Some may say the forum tool is safer, I myself don't believe in magic, IMO they are equally unsafe, a spike in electricity and you may end with a brick.

However if you need BIOS update prior to have some RAM or GPU working fine (or other stuff), then maybe consider updating to 1.6 and then to 1.9 and finally to 1.B (1.11). I suggest using MFlash (files can be downloaded on MSI's product site, instructions should be included). For Forum Flash tool you need proper files provided (usually) by Svet or Flobelix.
Before attempting to flash, make sure your system is stable!
I downloaded BIOS 1,5 and 1,6 and in both cases i have same issue it stucks on 100% on M-Flash, after this I can normaly shut down pc and it work but witch 1.4 BIOS. I just want know whyi can;t

  • Need help finding overclocking settings in BIOS on my Z97 Gaming 7

    Hello Folks!
As the title states I need some help finding some settings in the BIOS to help in overclocking on my awesome new MSI Z97 Gaming 7 mobo! For instance I can't find anything related to Load Line Calibration, LLC. I am unable to find additional settings for PLL and what the settings that are there do, for instance CPU PLL, the options are something like LL and SB? There is no explanation for what either of these are. These may be pretty basic things in overclocking Intel. I should also mention that I am new to Intel processors and their mobo's. I have always used AMD cpu's and overclocking seemed a bit more straight forward. This is also the first MSI motherboard I have owned so I am also new to these. I have been a great fan of MSI GPU's for years and finally had the chance to buy a motherboard and while it has been a great experience thus far I seem to be slighty behind the learning curve here. I do appreciate all the help I am able to get. I have read the guides that I have seen others pointed towards and have not really found the information I am looking for there.

Nichrome, thank you for the heads up concerning placing my rig info into my signature, I will do that immediately. Thanks for trying to help. I really do appreciate it. I am very familiar with overclocking on the AMD platform. I have previously owned and abused the PhenomII 965BE, 1055T FX-8320 and FX-8350. I guess switching from AMD to Intel and being confronted by so many new terms and settings in the BIOS I was kind of lost. I wasn't really too concerned with the PLL per say other than just desiring to know as much about my new system and motherboard as possible. I have always been a firm believer that to get the most out of your equipment you need to know it intimately, I guess I will get there with a bit of time and perseverance! I was really mainly trying to figure out where the LLC settings would be hidden or what they would be known as with an Intel based system, this setting is usually quite important when trying to stabilize higher overclocks. I am currently running and tinkering with an OC speed of 4.7-4.8GHz @ 1.275v with temps staying ~55C. I was hoping to push a little further and was trying to give myself the best possible advantage in doing so. Again, thanks for the help and information!!!

Your link confirms a definite firmware issue with the keyboard, and as such, this needs to be addressed with Logitech firstly.

  • Every boot i have to select my boot-drive in BIOS. (Z97 Gaming 5).

    Hi there,
Z97 Gaming 5 Boot Drive issue.
It appears with 80% of boots i am forced to enter BIOS and point it towards my SSD boot-drive. Sometimes the SSD boot drive doesn't even show up and i am forced to constantly reset/power down until it shows up in BIOS. I am running the shipped BIOS and wondered if anyone has rectified this issue without being forced to flash? After reading about people bricking their Z97's and/or flashing to no avail i wasn't too keen on the idea.
    Any support is appreciated, thanks.

Thank you all for your replies. Thanks Svet.
@ flobelix, my OCZ is also a Vertex 2. Well thats fantastic... OS and everything installed on this drive. Curious as to how they cannot be compatible? And why it runs flawlessly once I'm in Windows?
Thanks to this new information Flobelix i came across this thread on Google (http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1865874/ocz-vertex-ssd-recognized-boot-uefi-clock-resets-z87x-d3h-4770.html). Seems a workaround is (if this mobo has one, i need to check) to plug the SSD into an alternative SATA3 controller port (not the Intel SATA ports). Otherwise we're pretty much sh*t out of luck. Which is pretty terrible IMO. Glad mine is only a 120GB.

  • What BIOS version does the Z97 Gaming include?

As the title suggests, I'm curious about what BIOS version the Z97 Gaming 5 will ship with if I were to order it, say, right now or sometime next week.
I'm planning on getting the Z97 Gaming 5 together with an i7-4790k, without any plans to overclock it (maybe in the future).
I've read horror stories about people having flashing the BIOS and it failing, and honestly I don't think I'd feel comfortable doing it. I don't know much either when it comes to that specific part of computers.
I'm mostly just curious what version the board will ship with, seeing as it's been out for a while and there's quite a few versions available for download. I haven't been able to find a solid answer anywhere, although most people seem to say that the board will come with one of the later versions, instead of the oldest, or older ones.
Can anyone clarify this for me? I'm a little confused and just want to be sure before I make a purchase. I've finally managed, as a poor student, to get the money to buy this expensive stuff, and I just want to be sure about everything before doing anything else.
    Think first, Act later!
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
Main difference between Gaming 3 and 5 is that 3 supports only 2-way XFire, but 5 supports 2 way SLI or 3 way XFire.
Another is visual difference:Gaming 3 is looking like Z87 G45 with slight changed, Gaming 5 has the newer Z97 look.
Apart from that I see little differences like number of PCIe slots etc. If you only will use single/dual graphics cards without any WiFi cards or sound cards, then Gaming 3 is ok for that. But choice is up to you: if you don't plan to SLI/XFire, then I would go for Gaming 3 as it's enough for single GPU. If you however would like to SLI/XFire(even in the future) then Gaming 5 is better for that.
