Z97 Gaming5 with GTX970 - power on and off

Hello,
I am having difficulties lately with my rig.
I have a new system with following spec:
i7 4790K 4Ghz (no OC)
MSI Z97Gaming 5 mobo
MSI GTX 970 Twin Forc 4GB
GSkill RAM 16GB (2x8 blue) F3-1866C9D-16GXM
Seasonic M12ii 750W Bronze Evo
CoolerMaster CPU Fan 212
I had been using my new system for a few days fine, until the system suddenly shut down by itself.
Then the problem began where the system shall turn on for about 1 second, then turn off again.
The mobo led (the one next to debug code) is blinking blue, for a few seconds, then the system attempt to turn on automatically, and flashes a couple of code rapidly until the last one "69" before the system turns off again.
I tried reseat CPU, checked connections, all turn out nothing. There is one time when I moved the tower to my computer shop for troubleshooting, when for some reason the system turned out fine. Then the problem began again after a few days. The system is no giving any video output so the problem stuck at initial power up phase.
Please help, I don't know what is wrong with the config.
Browsing the forum it seems that other users are facing the similar problem.

I had a motherboard that began to exhibit similar characteristics after a power supply blew out in it. Even with the replacement power supply. The motherboard was damaged from the PSU blow out, anyways any of those things, computers need electricity to survive, if there's a short on the motherboard or the power supply is aging it sounds like those issues could arise.
Oh that would break my heart. I am concerned about that as well, especially reading PSU issues that other users had causing the prob. My power supply is new from the start tho, what could have caused short on mobo. I inspect the connections, they all seem alright, except there power connection from psu to GPU has a 8-pin and 6-pin. the 6-pin connection is connected to 6+2 of PSU so the 2 is hanging (without any grounding). Could this be an issue. other than that I can't see anything else unusual, unless the problem comes from the stability of the power supply.

So when you plug it into your computer, you're not getting a message in iTunes that it has discovered a phone in recovery mode?
Reboot both the computer and the phone and try again.

  • Is there an App for turning the power on and off with the Iphone 5 as my button has stopped working

Is there an App for turning the power on and off with the Iphone 5 as my button has stopped working

No.  You'll need to bring your phone to Apple for evaluation and replacement.  If you're still within the warranty period and a hardware defect is identified, the phone will be replaced without charge.

  • Just got a new IPAD3, straight out of the box, but I cant charge it, I have tried with the power plug and cable out of the box but no joy, i have tried resetting the iPad but still no joy, have tried different plug sockets, different plugs/cables, help

Just got a new IPAD3, straight out of the box, but I cant charge it, I have tried with the power plug and cable out of the box that came with it but no joy, i have tried resetting the iPad but still no joy, have tried different mains plug sockets around the house with no joy, I have tried different USB mains plugs but again no joy, I tried using my new iPad cable into the USB port of my MacBook Pro laptop but still no joy, then, I tried using my old iPod classic cable into my MacBook Pro and that worked, so I have a way of charging my new iPad3 but its not practical as i have to take my MacBook Pro everywhere if I want to charge it which kind of defeats the object of having an iPad, has anybody experienced anything similar and how was it fixed? can anybody help me please...

    Grumpy Gator,
Please note it did say at the store's discretion, but people have actually been able to return it to the on-line store. (I only saw a couple who tried.)
And given the outcry, I would think Apple might have other Apple stores join in. Just in case, though, if you can, you might bring it in today.
If it's an ARS, my guess is they can stick to their 14 day return. Apple cannot force them to do it. SO if it's not bought directly from Apple, and it's past the 14 day deal, I'd bring it in to the store today if you have one. When I gave people the cnet.com site, I gave it so people could read it and know only Apple had made the decision for Apple. And I suggested to some that an Apple reseller would probably stick with their own return policy.
Because Arnie had just bought his, he should be able to return it to Apple or an ARS because an ARS has to have some kind of full refund or at least return for credit within 7 or 14 days of purchase.
    Hope this helps.

  • Lenovo A328 - Scheduled Power On and Off

I got my A328 recently and I used the scheduled power on and off to have my phone to power off at midnight and turned on at 7am in the morning everyday.
While the power off works perfectly, but I found that power on got problem.  Some days it just didn't powered on as scheduled.
Can anyone help me out?  Thanks in advanced!

The button at the top is actually the sleep / wake button. To power the device off completely (something you need not do except maybe during takeoff and landing), press and hold the sleep / wake button for approzimately 5 seconds then follow the on screen directions.
Just pressing and releasing the sleep / wake button turns off the screen and puts the iOS device in sleep mode.

hmm..just realised that waiting here for answer is like watching paint drying.. Thanks Apple!
    So best option is..
    1) backup your phone
    2) log to iCloud
    3) erese your phone
    4) pug and restore your phone from backup
.. I'm clearly starting to dislike this company and seriously considering switching to someone else.

  • MacBooKPro, I can switch the power on and off, but booting takes for ever

I am a new Mac user and have had this machine for a couple of months and in the learning stage. Yesterday I had downloaded some mp3 songs and were trying to play them with itunes, individually they would open but i couldnt import them to the music library. I noticed the machine slowly and by this morning, it has crawled to a stop. I can switch it on and off, but when i switch it on, it takes a long while for the apple logo to come on and then it takes ages for the screen to appear and when i click on something it takes many more minutes for it to open. So in fact I am frozen out, since i cannot open anything...but the machine can be powered on and off.
do you think that there is a relationship between this freezing and the mp3 downloading and trying to play it with itunes?
what might this be? Can any one help me with some advice. The apple support is closed for the night so i cant even call them. Thank you so very much...

    Hiya Ibncochini,
welcome to Apple discusions, if you can power your book on, can you open "Activity monitor"? (found in applications/utlities).
    What may have happened, is that itunes is still trying to import the files. Now, also, whilst the threat of viruses is not as bad as on Windows PC's, I always scan my "new arrivals" (i.e. all files, even music files purchased from the apple store) with clamxav , which is a basic, but free;
But for the moment, I would not suspect anything harmful, other than that an application is trying to run something. (your logs should reveal, found in console )
Hopefully, your activity monitor reveals the offending application that e.g. takes all the processor power and you can click on it and "force quit" (from the Activity monitor menu).
It might also be a good idea to look at +verbose mode+ which will tell you what is happening during the booting up.
Any of the above any good?

  • HT201401 My side buttons will not move volume. I have had power on and off. Sometimes it will work, sometimes not.

My volume buttons sometime work, but mostly not. I have went to sounds and turned the change with buttons off and on many times.I have turned phone power off and on many times. I have turned the orange button on the side on and off. When I try to play I Tunes, nothing. When I play solataire,I can,t hear the cards shuffle.

You haven't tried a reset? hold down power and home buttons together until the Apple logo is displayed. No data or settings are lost, and cures 99% of all known problems.

  • IMac G5 ALS not booting with new power supply and perfect capacitors

Hey guys. Just got this beauty yesterday for cheap. Came with the box, 2 of 4 Styrofoam inserts, the manual, the power cord, and the keyboard.
I was told it has a brand new power supply. When I plug it in, LED #1 on the motherboard comes to life. pressing the power button does nothing. I have tried everything: blowing out any dust, reseating all connectors, booting without RAM, adding a hard drive (did not have one), removing the optical drive, modem, and BT/ap card. The only sign of life is when I press the internal power button, and the light flickers. This is promising.
I did notice when it is plugged in, there is a high pitched whine coming from where the LED is. I hope this is not causing the problem.
All capacitors are perfect, and not burst or leaking. I had a 1.25ghz eMac with bad caps, so I know what they look like.
I removed the motherboard, and there is no sign of any fried component on either side. It looks like a brand new machine basically.
I was thinking of just getting another good logic board for it, as they are cheap, or ask a friend to recap the board anyway.
Anyone here know what could be wrong with it? I hope I did not just waste money on this. It was relitively cheap though.
    Specs:
iMac G5 Revision B Ambiant Light Sensor model
    1.8ghz G5
    512mb of RAM
    combo drive
    no HD (had 160gb originally)
    airport/bluetooth combo card

    Hey Lam,

I'm with Miriam on this one. That "new" supply sounds bad. Look very carefully inside the power supply (through the little perforations in the case) I'll bet you see caps w/ the same domed tops like you've seen before. That whine is also a symptom of a bad PSU. It's not even strong enough to power the soft start.
I've seen 2 20" and 3 17"ers recently. Replaced caps on 3 of the PSUs and got one to work on a 17" that belonged to a teacher so that went back. Swapped the working PSU from one of the 20s w/ a bad GPU into the one w/ a bad PSU. It's working but in a place where I can keep an eye on it since I don't trust it since the caps don't look good.
    I've done this hack:
    http://gallery.me.com/iamkimc#100033&view=grid&bgcolor=black&sel=12
and can get all the iMacs to work that way. Advantage - cheap, totals 1/3 or the replacement Apple part (used). Con - boxes outside the nice iMac case.
The auto laptop supply loads the Sparkle down too much for the 20" however. I'm working on finding an auto supply that saps less Amps or a simple voltage doubler for the 12V supply to solve that problem.
The ATX hack is pretty simple and only requires switching two 12V leads. Oddly one of the early versions of the 17"ers ran fine without the 20V inverter power. Go figure.

  • Apple TV - Power on and off

I do I turn the Apple TV on and off? Or do I just keep it on 24/7?

I don't believe it's meant to be turned on and off. Do you think Apple just forgot to put an on/off switch in the unit? I don't. Neither do I believe you're supposed to put it "standby" mode when you're done for the day. Otherwise Apple would have stated, explicitly, that you should do this. They didn't. As for the case getting hot, yes it does. In fact it's supposed to. The top of the unit is the heatsink. Heatsinks get hot, that's what they do. You don't turn off your cable modem at night or your router for that matter. I'd just plug it in the wall, make sure nothing sits on top of your new toy and enjoy.

  • Resetting Phone with No Power Button and iPhone Not Backed Up Message Blocking the Slide to Power Off Feature

I've learned how to reset the phone after an iPhone Not Backed Up message cannot be clicked off of, but my Power button is not working and I've been using the greyed out screen button to lock the screen and power off. Now it is not working to turn the phone off for a reset because the iPhone Not Backed Up message is in the way of sliding the power off feature on the screen. Do I have any options?

    Try a reset:
Hold the Sleep\Wake and Home Buttons until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears

  • Harmony One/ Apple TV Power On and Off

I have my Harmony One working great with my Apple TV 2, except for the Power on/off. All other commands work perfectly. I can't figure out how to get the Harmony One to control this pretty major function, so I need my Apple Remote handy in order to turn the Apple TV on when it's gone to sleep. I know I could just set the Apple TV to never go to sleep, but I'd rather have the Harmony One control this. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

If you have the ATV2 defined as a 'Mac Mini' computer in the Logitec software (as I do), then the select button sleeps AND wakes the device.

  • SatelliteU300 Won't start with AC power connected and fully charged battery

I just bought a U300-13U. It works great when battery is charging and AC is connected. However if left to charge up fully it won't start with AC connected. Unpluging the power or removing the battery and running on AC makes it work fine. Is this a 'feature' to stop overcharging or overheating the battery, or just a problem with this machine. I want to run with AC and battery both connected all the time as I have done with all my other laptops.
    Any help appreciated.

    Hello Andy
Friend of mine has this small U300 and everything work well. I have had it few weeks ago to test WXp installation and it works perfectly.
Please test it again very carefully and if the same happen again I recommend you to contact Authorized service partner in your country. Let them check your notebook. I must be honest and say that described issue sounds strange to me and please do not wait too long. Contact service as soon as possible.
    Bye and good luck!

  • Searching Dock with for Power supply and Audio Out for iPhone 3GS

    Hello,
I am rather new to Apple stuff but I now have an iPhone 3GS which I would like to use with my Yamaha Pianocraft.
The Yamaha has an optional iPod Dock. As far as I know, this would allow me to do things like pause, next track etc. via the Yamaha remote. However, I don't really need this and I would also like to be able to play audio from apps such as internet radio apps (e.g. 977)
So the Yamaha also has an AUX/Audio In connector on the back where I can simply connect my iPhone 3GS. Then I will just hear everything not through the iPhone speakers but through the Yamaha A/V Receiver.
However, this option would require me to have a cable connect at the top (headphone jacket) and at the bottom (connector for power supply), which does not look that good.
So I would like to have an iPhone 3GS dock that provides audio out as well as power supply. I have found three products for this (German Sites because I live in Germany):
    Apple iPhone 4 Dock:
    http://store.apple.com/de/product/MC596ZM/A?fnode=MTY1NDAzOQ&mco=MTgxNTkwOTg
    Apple Universal Dock:
    http://store.apple.com/de/product/MB125G/C?fnode=MTY1NDAzOQ&mco=MTA4NDc4NDA
    Amazon:
    http://www.amazon.de/Dockingstation-Apple-iPhone-Audio-Out-wei%C3%9F/dp/B003UP77 HQ/ref=wlit_dpo?ie=UTF8&coliid=I18C98SXGWLNIF&colid=29EKL14S3VRAN
As far as I am aware, the iPhone 4 Dock from Apple cannot be used with the iPhone 3GS. Is that correct? Is there any solution or an "iPhone 3GS Dock" available?
Can these docks also provide the audio from apps via audio out?
I hope you can help me.

Well on the backsite this product has audio out but not power, only the iphone connector.
If I want to use this station in one place only and not for syncing, I will have to buy another iPhone USB cable and another wall to USB adapter (altough I have come at home from other products).
Is there no dock that will not require some special iPhone cable?
