Z97 SLI KRAIT EDITION POOR ACCESSORIES

Hey all, just purchased a white and black krait edition for a new build, was going for gaming 7 but the style of this board just fit what i was building.
Has anybody else purchased one of these and if so did you get a bundle of goodies in the box ???
I have always gone with Asus in the past and have always had case badges, stickers etc etc in the box, MSI Krait nothing....
I was hoping for at least a sticker with the krait design to assist my build but nothing, also no cmos jumper on the board, support tells me thats correct and i know its a tiny piece but how do you cross if cmos needs reset, anyway minor issues but just wondered what other people received, hope the 2 x 4g gtx970s  that are due any day have something in there lol

No current board comes with a cmos jumper due to the already mentioned clear cmos button. Regarding accessorie note that the Krait edition is focussed on the clean look of it for casemodders' demand. Besides it is an entry level Z97 board and therefor being rather low priced for a Z97 board and offering the accessories to be expected on that price level. The Gaming 7 is a lot more expensive and therefor comes with more accessories. Hence you get what you pay for.

why does the mother board not come equipped with an SLI connector??

Already according to manual the board does not come with an SLI bridge. It is very aggressively priced considering being meant for modding setups (normally to be paid premium). As it is quite cutdown to make this happen packing content is like to be expected of entry-level Z97 boards of the same price range.
Unfortunately unlike Nichrome said SLI bridges are never included with GeForce vgas so you'll need to get some from ebay or such. These are quite cheap.

  • Z97S SLi Krait Edition - Can't enable SLI?

    Hi
I'm trying to enable SLI on my Z97S SLI Krait Edition. I have an EVGA 970 Superclocked ACX 2.0 in one slot, and an Asus Strix 970 in the other and I've connected the SLI Bridge. I can't enable in the Nvidia control panel. Does anyone have any suggestions please?
    Thanks

    This is what i would try;
-make sure slowest clocked card was in top slot but should make no difference tbh
    -uninstall all nvidia drivers
    -reboot in to safe mode
    -run DDU http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
-reboot and install latest drivers as an admin even if you are one (right click, run as)
    -enjoy sli (hopefully)
Edit- forgot to mention that you should also make sure you got the latest bios on the board

Is there any way to configure this motherboard besides wake by usb to have power to my usb ports while the computer is off? With wake by usb my pc turns on every I plug something in or unplug something and it's really annoying, makes me not want to buy another MSI motherboard.
    Thanks

I want to disable that and still have power over the USB
I doubt this is possible. Either ON or OFF I believe.

  • What a ....... fancontroller on a Msi Z97S SLI Krait

Msi Z97S SLI Krait was a mb i quickly bought when my non msi mb had trouble booting.
I regret it, what a crapy fancotroller, it makes my fans artic F12 PWM a bit to loud, sometimes when they are a bit loud i open command center and
see fans running faster then i have set it to in bios and command center (the samme curve) and why is lower limited only 50% for case fans, i don't think it's low enough for ultra low noise fans that can rung 300-500 rpm.

Also note that even external fan controllers (those which go to drive bay) also have minimum of 50% up to 100% of power. Or Off (which is noted by the manufacturer that you turn it off at your own risk as it may damage the fan(s) )

    Hi All,
i have tried to boot my new machine and i am unable to get post or post codes it seems to look as if it wants to post(boot) green powerbutton/reset button
the monitor-light goes green indicating there is signal from the GPU but then goes orange again saying no signal i have pluged in a post speaker in and get no post beeps indicating an issue this is the second motherboard and processor i have tried with no success and the GPU worked in my z77 rig. I will try a different GPU tonight, any help would be much appreciated
i have tried one stick of ram, bios b, inspected cpu pins (visually ok) and different 850 psu all to no avil.
    system specs are as follows
    msi x99s sli krait edition
    evga gtx970 sc
    i7 5820k
    16GB kingston hyper x (Kingston HX421C14FBK4/16 16GB)

    samsung 840 evo
    WD 1tb green
os 8.1 pro 64bit(never booted into win 8)

i have tried both boards with both bios and one stick at a time also tried multiple types and brands of graphics cards (asus strix gtx970 new out of box, evga sc gtx970 and and an old but known working nvidia 9500 gt) also tried them in different slots (ram and graphics) also tried an old(but working) antec 850w psu

  • MOVED: Msi Z97S SLI KRAIT Questions

This topic has been moved to MSI Intel boards.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=254395.0

    it's 4pin fans atm i don't use any 3 pin fans (artic F12 PWM)
The one i have in my side panel is connected with a low noise adapter and run at 50% about 700-750 rpm
The other 3 fans are connected to my 2 cpu fans (pst) so they run with speed according to my cpu fans, which is an advantage
since they can run as low as 20% at low loads, temps, but connected to my mb sysfan header they are limited to 50% and that is waaaaay to much if i want them to be 100% silent, with command center limited is 50%, what i can set sys fan speed to as a minimum in the bios i don't know, i think it's also 50%
That's not good enough, since 50% won't make fans like noctuas and other low rpm fans run as low as 300-400 rpm if i want a silent pc

  • MSI Z97 SLI Krait BOOT Code A2

    Hi.
I have run accross an alteration in my POST behavior in my computer since i installed at file disk few Days ago.
When i got the computer i installed the OS with just the SSD installed, and it installed just fine and worked fine.
The boot process was extremly fast, no bios codes then or it went away before my screen had time to activate.
But when i installed the file disk, it showed the code A2 during POST for about 5s then booted into windows as normal.
Is this something that i need to troubleshoot more? Is there a problem with the filedisk, i cant remeber it staying at A2 for this long before the little time i have used the computer(have had some problem with a different motherboard, and the gfx so the place i bought it from took a look at it on 3 different occasions)
BIOS isnt changed much out off the box. Just windows 8 features activated, fastboot off, and back fan turned down to 50%
BIOS version should be the latest at the time im making this post.
    SSD: Samsung 850 Pro 256GB
    Filedisk: 3TB WD Green
OS Installed in UEFI not Legacy
    Thanks in advance

can you test this particular drive in another PC?
sounds like BIOS issue, if can be called issue that takes this delay at cold boot only
do a query with MSI Tech here: >>How to contact MSI.<<
At the moment i cant test the drive in another PC.
I was thinking of trying this tonight:
    -unplugg HDD and SSD
-Connect SATA Cable that the HDD used to the SSD
-Start it upp and see if it boots as fast as it did with only the SSD Before.
-Then connect the HDD to the SSD sata Cable and see if the startup takes as long as Before (7-8s)
-If its the same problem then it's not the Cable or specific sata port (shouldnt matter which sata port is used, as long as i dont have a m2 disk installed which i dont)
-Switch back the Cables as it was Before.
I dont Think this will make any difference but can be Worth trying.
I have filed a support ticket to MSI regarding this, i will try the computer store i bougth the computer from if they have any ideas other then taking the computer to them again..... I would like to not have to take the computer to them for troubleshooting for the 4th time.
I can detach the HDD and take it to them so they can try it.
Sorry if my Spelling is abit off, English isnt my primary language.
Thanks for all the help so far.

  • MSI Z97S SLI +

I like this board. It has 8 Sata III ports and I always liked MSI boards. But it has received mixed reviews. Should I buy this, or the equally priced ASRock Z97 Extreme4/Extreme6?
The Extreme4/6 has USB key, where you stick a USB drive in to log in. Does the MSI board have that?
    Does it support 4-way SLI?
    Which should I buy?

Quote from: flobelix on 03-July-14, 04:50:40
This is the MSI HQ Users-to-Users Forum. Quite obvious that we won't discuss competing brands' products here. The MSI board is good so you can buy it if you want. As you are looking for a higher priced board too (extreme 6) you can also think about the equally priced MSI Z97-GD65 Gaming or MSI Z97 Gaming 7 which also offer a dual bios for maximum update safety.
No Z97 board without an extra pci-e controller offers SLI with more than two cards as it takes 8 lanes per slot minimum and socket 1150 doesent offer enough lanes for more than 2 x 8 lanes. What the other brand means with quad-sli is using two dual gpu cards like GTX690 or Titan Z (two gpus on one card). To sli such is possible on any sli certified Z97 board (so also Z97S SLI PLUS).
Thanks! I would rather spend the money on an MSI board, but the reason I chose the ASRock was because it is under $145 at my Microcenter store. The MSI SLI + isnt in my MC store  .

  • MSI P7N SLI Platinum and OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 SLI-Ready Edition

    Hello,
I have a MSI P7N SLI Platinum nForce 750i SLI motherboard and I would like to inquire if it is fully compatible with OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 SLI-Ready Edition memory? Firstly, I do not seem to get the correct timings with the default settings, speed is not very good, after 5 hours of running Memtest86+ there was 30 errors. I have never had the memory crash and games seem to run fine, but the memory feels much slower than it should be. Is the memory supposed to work fine with this motherboard and I'm just imagining everything? I don't know if I'm also supposed to be worried by the errors Memtest86+ returned?
Thank you in advance for any help.

    If memtest returned errors, yes
Well, there does not have to be a problem with the memory just because it returned errors. There could be many other explanations why there are errors.

Jacobl, please post full system specs.  Read the >>Posting Guide<< to get an idea of the details you should provide.
How many modules of what capacity do you have?  What are your current RAM-related BIOS settings?
If you have more than one stick of RAM, please test each stick seperately with memtest86+ and see if the errors are caused by one of the sticks only.  Otherwise there is no way to tell if there is a compatibility problem or just a faulty memory stick.
Please post a link to the OCZ product site and also a screenshot of the CPU-Z "SPD" tab.
    I have this memory: http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_ddr2_pc2_6400_sli_ready_edition_4gb_dual_channel.
This is the rest of the components as instructed by the forum post you linked to:
    Intel E8200
    MSI P7N SLI Platinum
    OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 SLI-Ready Edition 4GB Dual Channel
    Gigabyte Geforce 8800GT 512MB PCI
    500GB Western Digital SATA
    SATA DVD burner
    Windows XP SP3
    Antec 500W PSU
I usually troubleshoot components step by step - eliminating all possible reasons until I have found the solution. My first step was to post here to find out if there are any known compatibility issues with the motherboard and memory. I adjusted the memory timings with a slight overclock because the motherboard did not load the default timings by default. I will start by adjusting the BIOS settings, check if the memory is inserted into the right DIMM slots and then test the memory sticks one by one. But to answer my own question: I think the motherboard and memory should have no compatibility issues and it must be something else.
Quote from: Freestate on 07-September-08, 23:06:36
I have the OCZ 6400 Fatal1ty modules 2x2 GB that is very similar of the ones you ask.And they are running perfectly but i must set the epp latency and voltaje values in BIOS! The simple modules of ocz are in the memory compatibilty list i thought that the SLI and Falal1ty modules are just the same with a little boost.
I had to set the right timings also. As far as I know, the SLI and Fatal1ty modules are probably the same, just with a little boost. I think it would be very strange if a module with the name "SLI-Ready Edition" and a Nforce 750i motherboard would not be compatible together.
Anyway, any other advice on what steps I should take? I assume by now that the motherboard and memory should work together without problem. Sorry if I started out bad by not following the posting guidelines on the forum.

  • Z97S Krait Edition CPU Socket Question

Hi, I'm wondering whether the socket backplate on the reverse side of the the board is insulated. So far I have been unable to find any specific information online - although it seems that some ASUS products come with this as a protective feature. I'm just wondering whether this comes as a default for all socket 1150 boards. The reason I'm asking is because I am concerned that this item may come into contact with the chassis of my case and would like some peace of mind on this matter.
I've attached a photo of the item in question - the silver socket behind the X shaped backplate (btw this is not a actual photo of my motherboard).
    Cheers

  • X99A Gaming 7 vs X99A SLI Krait

I can't find a difference other than color.  Are there any other differences between these two motherboards?
Oddly enough, both work with my color scheme, (Black/Red/White).  I noticed the Krait retails slightly cheaper.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'll compile a list of differences as they are reported.
    1) Color (Gaming 7 Red/Black)(Krait White/Black)
    2) Gig Ethernet (Gaming 7 Killer)(Krait Intel)

Wow, thank you for the comprehensive list.  Given the small difference in price, I ordered the X99A Gaming 7 Motherboard.
Edit/Update:  It doesn't look like i have the ability to edit my first post so i won't be updating the initial list.  I doubt there are any other differences than what you highlighted so their being on the second entry shouldn't be a problem.
    Once again thanks.
