Z97m 4790k infinite loop at bios code 03 with 2 sticks of RAM

Hello,
Just built a computer with
i7-4790k, Silverstone te01 cooler
MSI Z97m Gaming MOBO    Bios 1.3 (current)
780 gtx
Silverstone Strider ST75F-P   v1.1    on the haswell list..
Now the issue.  The computer will not boot with two stick of RAM.
First ones were Crucial Ballistix Tactical 2x8gb that are not on the list.  Works perfectly with one stick.  as soon as you stick another one in the computer it won't boot past post Code 03.  Then it reboots and goes on forever like that.
Second one are corsair CML16GX3M2A1600C11, 2x8gb which are on the list.  Same issue as above.  one stick works great. can oc to 4.7 and rock solid.  as soon as you stick another stick in loop de loops at post code 03.  I tried every slot, no dice.  two stick=no boot.
I also tried taking the video card and all accessories out. still nothing.  2 stick=nada.  But super stable with one stick...
so help? ideas?
Is it the MOBO? or should I go try another power supply? At this point I do not believe it could be the RAM.

Hi,
This sounds like motherboard's CPU socket has some bent pins, so check this please. Few times just to make sure it's not a bent pin. If no bent pins, then ok, refit CPU but without cooler yet. Look around RAM slots, maybe while you've been fitting the cooler (if not intel's stock) you have hit board with screwdriver. So look for any sort of scratches/hits around RAM slots and CPU socket. Also try clearing CMOS >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
At last I'd try different power supply WITHOUT the GPU.

  • Windows won't install USB device...infinite loop of connect and disconnect

    I've been very happy with my Ipod purchases over the years but this one is the worst problem I have ever had. Purchased an 8gb Ipod Nano 3rd gen for the wife as a Xmas present and went to install it on my PC today but no luck whatsoever. The PNP manager seems to go into an infinite loop of connect and disconnect with the odd "Itunes has found a corrupt player ...." message but the device won't stay on the PC long enough as it promptly disconnects from the PC again!
    My other 3 Ipods all connect and work quite happily on this PC, I've tried a few of the other "solutions" that seem to fix other "problems" but as the device does not stay connected for long enough I can't do anything with it!
    Has anyone else had this problem and been able to fix it? If so, what did you do to correct the problem?
    thanks
    Marty

    Thanks, tried that and much more - a very frustrating process.
    I've just posted this on another thread...
    I've tried unplugging everything and it still didn't work (I only have a USB printer, USB 1.1 hub and a USB phone connected). Funnily enough though connecting it to the USB 1.1 hub it works OK - go figure. Connecting directly to a USB 2 connector either on the front or rear panel and my PC goes into the connect/disconnect loop! My 1st and 2nd gen Ipod nano's and my Shuffle all happily connect to the USB 2 connectors on the front panel but the 3rd gen one does not want to know.
    I think that Apple have got something seriously wrong here and it would be nice if it was acknowledged and a proper fix applied.

  • Notebook caught in infinite loop, then gives a Hard Drive Short DST check error in Bios

    My laptop shut off unexpectedly last week. It got caught in an infinite loop when trying to restart. I was able to access bios and run a system check. I received Failure ID Q0821A-7017lt-xd7wwk-60xx03. I cannot get the computer to start. Please advise.

    1. This is a hardware issue and the Hard Drive is faulty
    2. You cannot recover this failure ID unless you replace the Hard drive
    Detailed Explanation:
    Whenever you get a message stating that the Short DST Check error with 24 Digit Failure ID "Q0821A-7017LT-XD7WWK-60XX03" that indicates that the Hard Disk Drive requires a replacement to resolve the issue
    Could be due to Application or driver conflicts, virus issues, file corruptions due to incompatible applications, improper shutdowns, update failures due to conflicts, sudden power surges, if notebook is dropped etc..
    HP will provide a replacement Hard Disk Drive if the Notebook warranty is Active, If not you need buy a SATA Hard Disk Drive from a retail shop nearby
    Please make sure you are getting at least equal capacity as the original one in order to use Recovery Disks. If you need you can buy a larger, but not smaller capacity Hard Disk Drive. For example if you have a 500GB Hard Disk Drive you can upgrade it to 750GB Hard Disk Drive but not 320GB Hard Disk Drive
    Please try the below shown troubleshooting steps once:
    Step 01. Remove the battery and unplug the AC/Power Adapter
    Step 02. Press and hold the Power button for more than 30 Seconds
    Step 03. Plug in the AC/Power Adapter (leave the Battery out for now)
    Step 04. Press the Power button and check if the Unit works normal
    If the above mentioned steps does not help, then you can try reseating the Hard Drive on your Notebook
    If the issue persists again please Contact HP if your HP Notebook is under warranty, HP would replace the Hard Disk Drive and provide you a Recovery media to restore factory operating system after replacement (if you've not yet created Recovery Discs/USB Media)
    Note: Back up all the personal data to an external drive if it's possible. Otherwise you could connect the failed HDD via SATA to USB adapter with another PC or same PC after replacement of HDD & re-installation of OS and try copying /recovering the files.

  • Infinite looping code. Why?

    Hi,
    Have 2 rules. Rule 1, searches IdM repository for users matching params entered by a user. This rule generates a list as [GenericObject:000001,GenericObject:000034]. I pass this list to the searchResultList variable in rule below (Rule2) which (atlease I expect to) gets teh firstname aand sotre number from the GenericObjects in the list generated by Rule1.However, Rule2 always goes in a infinite loop, adn I dont understand why? Can any one help me pleae?
    <block trace='true'>
      <defvar name='displaysearchlist'>
        <dolist name='searchlist'>
          <ref>searchResultList</ref>
          <defvar name='displaystring1'>
            <get>

            </get>
          </defvar>
          <defvar name='displaystring2'>

      </defvar>
      <ref>displaysearchlist</ref>
    </block>Thanks in advance.

    When you use the defvar the variable isn't actually created until it is referenced, which then goes back and uses the code to set the variable. So the defvar outside the list is evaluated when you call the displaysearchlist inside the dolist, creating the infinite loop.
    since you are appending the list inside the dolist, use defvar name displaysearchlist, then set it to null.
    ie
    <defvar name='displaysearchlist'/>
    <set name='displaysearchlist'>
    <null/>
    </set>

  • Infinite loop error after using Java Sun Tutorial for Learning Swing

    I have been attempting to create a GUI following Sun's learning swing by example (example two): http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/learn/example2.html
    In particular, the following lines were used almost word-for-word to avoid a non-static method call problem:
    SwingApplication app = new SwingApplication();
    Component contents = app.createComponents();
    frame.getContentPane().add(contents, BorderLayout.CENTER);I believe that I am accidentally creating a new instance of the gui class repeatedly (since it shows new GUI's constantly and then crashes my computer), possibly because I am creating an instance in the main class, but creating another instance in the GUI itself. I am not sure how to avoid this, given that the tutorials I have seen do not deal with having a main class as well as the GUI. I have googled (a nice new verb) this problem and have been through the rest of the swing by example tutorials, although I am sure I am simply missing a website that details this problem. Any pointers on websites to study to avoid this problem would be appreciated.
    Thanks for your time-
    Danielle

    um, yeah, you definitely have a recursion problem, that's going to create an infinite loop. you will eventually end up an out of memory error, if you don't first get the OS telling you you have too many windows. interestingly, because you are deferring execution, you won't get a stack overflow error, which you expect in an infinite recursion.
    lets examine why this is happening:
    in main, you call new MGui().
    new MGui() creates a runnable object which will be run on the event dispatch thread. That method ALSO calls new MGui(), which in turn ALSO creates a new object which will be run on the event dispatch thead. That obejct ALSO calls new MGui(), which ...
    well, hopefully you get the picture.
    you should never unconditionally call a method from within itself. that code that you have put in the constructor for MGui should REALLY be in the main method, and the first time you create the MGui in the main method as it currently exists is unnecessary.
    here's what you do: get rid of the MGui constructor altogether. since it is the implicit constructor anyway, if it doesn't do anything, you don't need to provide it.
    now, your main method should actually look like this:
    public static void main( String [] args ) {
      SwingUtilities.invokeLater( new Runnable() {
        public void run() {
          MGui app = new MGui();
          app.createAndShowGUI();
    }// end mainyou could also declare app and call the constructor before creating the Runnable, as many prefer, because you would have access to it from outside of the Runnable object. The catch there, though, is that app would need to be declared final.

  • A cycle is detected in the object graph.  This will cause an infinite loop.

    People,
    Looking for a little guidance.  Please point me in the correct direction if I am mistaken.  I am using Jersey 2.11 and generating JAXB definitions from XSD.
    I have a periodic exception that seems to be timing based.  If I change the timing of the message sent in anyway the error does not occur.  The other issue is that the cycle reported in the error changes some times, however, the cycles reported can not occur based on the XSD definition.  I have also dumped the message before sending and it definitely does not contain the cycle reported.
    In this specific scenario, I am sending a message of NotificationType which contains a list of DocumentType, however, DocumentType can never contain NotificationType so the following cycle is not possible:
    net.es.nsi.pce.discovery.jaxb.DocumentType@24d793f3 -> net.es.nsi.pce.discovery.jaxb.NotificationType@7f06bc07 -> net.es.nsi.pce.discovery.jaxb.DocumentType@24d793f3]
    I am wondering if there could be a different reason for receiving the following exception?
    Thank you for the help,
    John

  • Apple TV 1st gen stuck in infinite loop

    Hi
    This has probably been covered a few times but the only answers I could find was from an archived discussion.
    The other day I was given an Apple TV 1st gen, it had not been used for quite some time, and decided to upgrade the software, when I noticed it still had old pictures and music on from the previous user, not wanting to keep these pictures, I decided to reset the machine to factory settings, which it did, but on the restart it was stuck at a loop giving me a code to enter into iTunes, and then resetting and giving me a different code.
    i've tried several resets of the settings, holding menu and - together, but still having no joy.
    Its never been tampered with, but its really annoying me.
    Can anyone help? this is a very old product so figure something might have been done during this time
    Cheers
    Dave

    sounddave,
    I have been in the middle of the same problem for months.
    I think the problem is with the software version that the older 40GB Apple TV's revert to after the factory restore.  Mine reverted to version 1.0, and that is when the loop started happening.  Since when did a factory restore become a factory paper weight creator!
    I read somewhere that the Apple TV looks at an Apple server and the older software doesn't play well with the updated server causing it to keep rebooting.  I'll try to find a link about this if I can find it again.  I remember reading that it happened to a bunch of people with older Apple TV software on a particular day that Apple upgraded their server.
    If you don't let your Apple TV connect to the internet, it will stop the infinite loop, but it also means you can't upgrade your software.  I haven't tried it yet, but it also might be an issue with newer versions of iTunes.
    I tested this by unplugging my router, and the Apple TV stopped looping.
    I tried to fix this before without success, but I am really determined this time.

  • PowerShell 3.0 stuck in infinite loop resolving members internally (is this a PS bug??)

    Sorry for long post... I have this scenario:
    - Issue is on PS3, PS2 works fine
    - I create a new object via "$myObj = New-Object PSObject"
    - I append a number of PSMembers to it via something similar to:
    "if (-not (Get-Member -InputObject $myObj -Name MyProperty))
     Add-Member -InputObject $myObj -MemberType ScriptProperty -Name MyProperty -Value { return MyFunction }
    I am seeing situations where what I believe is the call to "Get-Member" causes a huge number of invocations that appear to be calling the equivalent of the "MyFunction" in the above sample. I have debug statements in the MyFunction
    function and nested functions and can see they are called by what appears to be the PS framework itself. Even running a "Get-PSCallstack" call from one of these functions seems to also trigger the debug statements to be hit (midway through the callstack
    output??!) - bit confused by that but it's like PS is invoking the member in order to reflect it or something.
    I used Trace-Command and could see that the "MemberResolution" trace source is repeatedly/infinitely called with the output:
    MemberResolution Information: 0 :         Matching "*"
    MemberResolution Information: 0 :             Generating the total list of members
    MemberResolution Information: 0 :                 Type table members: 0.
    MemberResolution Information: 0 :                 Adapted members: 0.
    MemberResolution Information: 0 :             21 total matches.
    This appears to be in an infinite loop. Therefore I added "-ListenerOption Callstack" to the Trace-Command call and captured the following and more (notice the call to PSObject.ToStringEmptyBaseObject()):
    at System.Management.Automation.PSObject.AdapterGetMembersDelegate[T](PSObject msjObj)
       at System.Management.Automation.PSMemberInfoIntegratingCollection`1.GetIntegratedMembers(MshMemberMatchOptions matchOptions)
       at System.Management.Automation.PSMemberInfoIntegratingCollection`1.Match(String name, PSMemberTypes memberTypes, MshMemberMatchOptions matchOptions)
       at System.Management.Automation.PSObject.ToStringEmptyBaseObject(ExecutionContext context, PSObject mshObj, String separator, String format, IFormatProvider formatProvider)
       at System.Management.Automation.PSObject.ToString(ExecutionContext context, Object obj, String separator, String format, IFormatProvider formatProvider, Boolean recurse, Boolean unravelEnumeratorOnRecurse)
       at System.Management.Automation.PSObject.ToString()
       at System.String.Join(String separator, Object[] values)
       at System.Management.Automation.ParameterBinderBase.BindParameter(CommandParameterInternal parameter, CompiledCommandParameter parameterMetadata, ParameterBindingFlags flags)
    I then disassembled the relevant code in Reflector and could see that the ToString() method of PSObject has a check for "if obj.immediateBaseObjectIsEmpty" then to call the ToStringEmptyBaseObject() function. I could also see that the immediateBaseObjectIsEmpty
    field is set in the CommonInitialization internal method if "obj is PSCustomObject" (which is the actual object type you get when you New-Object PSObject).
    I then updated my code to create "$myObj = New-Object Object" (i.e. System.Object instead) and the issue goes away.
    Can anyone explain what I may have done wrong here or is this looking like a bug in PowerShell?
    Cheers!

    Hi Matt,
    I'm not sure if we are on the same page? Getting the list of (i.e. metadata of) the members shouldn't invoke the member.  I have used this technique in many places and it's never been an issue whereby you "wrap" a utility function with
    a ScriptProperty or ScriptMethod to provide OO semantics on a PS object. The member isn't invoked by Get-Member, only when it's called explicitly.
    Here's a small example:
    function TestFunction
     Write-Host "TestFunction called"
     return "TestFunction return value"
    $myObj = New-Object PSObject
    Add-Member -InputObject $myObj -MemberType ScriptProperty -Name TestScriptProperty -Value `
     Write-Host "TestScriptProperty called"
     return TestFunction
    Write-Host "Getting members"
    Get-Member -InputObject $myObj -Name TestScriptProperty | Select *
    Write-Host "Invoking property"
    $myObj.TestScriptProperty
    Here's the output (Get-Member output a bit mangled due to the text wrapping):
    Getting members
    TypeName                                   Name
    MemberType Definition
    System.Management.Automation.PSCustomOb... TestScriptProperty
    ScriptProperty System.Object TestScriptProperty {get=...
    Invoking property
    TestScriptProperty called
    TestFunction called
    TestFunction return value
    Yup I see your point, but when you run your original code with this example object you can see there is no loop. There must either be a loop in the function or in the body of the script itself. This is very tough to troubleshoot without seeing the code you
    are actually running.
    You said you are adding several members to the custom object. Is this done in a loop?

  • Why am I getting an infinite loop?

    I have a for loop that never stops as the question suggests. If the boolean expression is true the loop does not stop. I tried tracing the loop and still cant figure out the solution. Please help. The code where the error is below with comments where the error is encountered:
        public static void printGame()
             //DECLARING
             //User input, height of wall
             int height = 0;
             //User input, how much R2-D2 climbs each day
             int climb;
             //User input, how much R2-D2 slips each day
             int slip;
             //Count of how many days it takes for R2-D2 leaves
             int count = 1;
             //Total after each day which is total + climb - slip
             int total = 0;
             //User input, play again option
             char plyagn;
             //Gameplay
             System.out.println("Please type in the height of the wall");
             //Height input
             height = In.getInt();
             System.out.println("Please type in how much R2-D2 climbs each day");
             //Climb input
             climb = In.getInt();
             System.out.println("Please type in how much R2-D2 slips each day");
             //Slip input
             slip = In.getInt();
             //Evaluation
             for( ; height != total; count++) //<----My ERROR which is an infinite loop that never exits
                  total = total + climb - slip;
                  System.out.println(total); //I tried tracing the error
                  System.out.println(height); //I tried tracing the error
              //Printing the result of the evaluation
             System.out.println("R2-D2 will leave on the " + count + " day");
             System.out.println("Press Enter to continue");
             In.getChar();
             clear();
             System.out.println("Do you want to play again? (y/n)");
             plyagn = In.getChar();
             //If statment, prints appropriate message if or if not to play again
             if(plyagn == 'y' || plyagn == 'Y')
                  printMenu();
             //If n or any other value end program
             else
                  printEnd();
        }//End of printGame method

    flounder wrote:
    Lets say th variables have these values
    height = 10
    climb = 4
    slip = 1 which effectively adds 3 to total at each step.
    So total is 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 etc
    Total will always be not equal to height.
    So change your condition. Also, why are you using a for loop instead of a while loop.Flounder, I was hoping you would answer my question as you always provide good answers. Continuing, I feel so dumb for missing that error. Oh and as for using the for loop instead of a while loop is something i was meaning to change. Anyhow, Thank You.

  • PL/SQL Function in an infinite Loop, how to destroy?

    Hi,
    My Apex is using a PL/SQL function and there is an infinite loop. How can I stop it so I can recompile the PL/SQL again? Thanks.

    the less obvious is whos session exactly.
    I had the same problem - wrong thinking, wrong loop , visible effects of infinitive loop (statistics of the db) . I was trying to kill sessions of the : user , who owns DAD and a user in who's schema runs nasty plsql code - without efect. Kill was confirmed but there was no change. I was made to reboot my server. Probably there is more efective way to do solve this (in my case - I have solved loop-problem after reebot).
    Would it be better to kill apache session under OS ? (restart it)
    Restart oracle's listner under OS ?
    Some ideas ?

  • Infinite Loop Question - should be simple

    Ok I think I have a simple question to ask here. I am attempting to create a program that creates an infinite loop for multiples of two...
    ex: 2, 4, 8, 16, etc...
    The math behind it is simple, x^2 when x = 2. I then want the result of each equation to be squared, and infinitely.
    Here is the code Ive written so far, I think Im close, but I may be way off... any hints or clues as to my next step would be appreciated.
    public class loopytest {
       public static void main (String[] args)
       int x = x^2;
       while (x = 2)
       System.out.println("Value of x is " + x);
    }

    int x = x^2;You have to initialise "x" first.
    You should give it an actual value (e.g. 2) for this case.
    int x = 2;If you want to get the value of x from arguments. (e.g. java YouProgram 2)
    You should change this part of code similar to the follow.
    int x = args[1];But this one hasn't used the Math.pow(), you should read the API and amend it.
    while (x = 2)This one is actually assign x with value 2.
    If you want to compare an int, you should use "A == B", "A.equals(B)" for Object.

  • Extension Installer in infinite loop

    Hi,
    I'm trying to use an Extension Installer to install some extra files for my application. I've searched the forum for problems with the Extension Installer and I've seen a few posts, even the same problem I'm having. But none of the suggestions have helped.
    When I run the Extension Installer locally on my own machine it works just fine. However when I move the code to access over the internet the extension installer gets stuck in an infinite loop and my application will never start. And yes, my installer ends with eis.installSucceeded(false).
    Based on other messages in the forum, these are some of the things that I've tried, to no avail:
    1. Add System.exit(0) as the very last statement in my installer.
    2. I don't specify a port in my codebase in either the application jnlp or the extension jnlp.
    3. The webserver is running on the default port (80).
    4. Tried adding "javaws.cfg.forceUpdate=false" to my javaws.cfg file.
    I'm using JWS 1.0.1_02. My web server is IBM HTTP Server. The machine that I'm trying to install to is running W2K.
    Anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Beth

    The funny thing is that with you it seems to happen
    during
    one JWS launch session.
    So I wonder why JWS will run k instances of your
    Extension
    installer.
    You don't have an <extension> tag in the jnlp file of
    your extension
    installer, creating an infinite recursion?
    Yes, I wonder why I get multiple instances of the Extension Installer. And also that it works fine if everything is running on my local computer. If I just change the codebase and run everything over the internet is when I get it an infinite loop. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    If it will help, here are my .jnlp files:

    (it seems anyway). It doesnt even make it into the while statement. If i replace the while with an if statement, everything works smoothly. Does anyone know what is actually happening here and why?
    Thanks for your time.

    Why didnt the java compiler report the ;? or the
    missing =?Because they're both syntactically valid.
    You might want to code a loop with no body:
    while ((ch = readChar()) != 0);
    (same as)
    while ((ch = readChar()) != 0)
    // do nothing
    And you might want to assign a boolean variable and compare it at the same time:
    while (flag = callSomeMethod())
    (as opposed to)
    while ((flag = callSomeMethod()) == true)
    Although in both cases I'd write them differently rather than making a statement which has 'side-effects' and makes for slightly less-readable code.
