Zalman CNPS-7000-CU HSF on K6T-delta board

Is anyone running a zalman-7000-CU heatsink with a 92mm fan on the K6T-Delta boards. When you check the compatability chart on the zalman website they don't list it as compatable. but they do mention it can be used on socket A(462) systems.
Just wondering if someone has experience with this setup before I go and buy one and it does'nt fit.
Thanks in advance

This HSF needs the four holes around the socket for mounting so no it's not compatible plus if the holes did exist caps might get in the way. Pretty much all of the Zalmans products don't have clip based mounting systems for socket a as it would have too much stress for the socket lugs.
WERD! Been there and done that.Says good for 462,but my board and pretty sure the Delta does not have the 4 mounting holes drilled in the board

  • Zalman cnps 7000(A/B) and K8N Neo2 backplate

    Hi,
Tried this question before, in an existing cpu cooler thread, but without luck.
Could anyone confirm that the zalman cnps7000(A/B) coolers can be used with K8N Neo2 stock backplate works or if the zalman backplate have to be used ?
    Thanks.....
    From SAB´s FAQ.....
Zalman has revised the fastening types in their 7000 series HSF's - and choosing the proper model will ensure that the stock MSI backing plate removal is not required.

    Thanks blazing storm.....
Yes, It would be good to have a confirmation about mounting the 7000 cooler with the Stock MSI backplate.
I´m not that worried about the cooler fitting the the board itself, but on the Zalman mounting picture they seem to use the zalman backplate.

  • K6T Delta CPU ID problems

I have a K6T Delta board with an AMD Athlon XP 2600+ CPU and once and a while I will start the computer and it will recognize the CPU as a 2000+.
But when I go into setup the multiplier is on auto and the FSB is 166 Mhz were it should be. I tried the multiplier on 12.5x166Mhz and it would work for a while but then it would only ID the CPU as a 2000+.
Wondering if anyone else has had this problem? or anyone know what is going on?

Maybe there is a fault in some of these boards after all.

  • Serious K6T Delta + SATA HD problem

My comp is screwed up pretty bad:
All that **** started when I decided to build in a S-ATA harddrive.
I used PQ DriveImage to copy my old HD and installed a fresh W2K
(which i was running before as well).
Ever since then i have the following symptoms:
*Bluescreens (0x00000024 (ntfs.sys); 0x00000050 (page fault..); 0x0000007F (unexpected kernel mode trap) and others...)
    *IE and Firefox crash
    *Games crash to desktop
    For instance EVE Online:
in the login screen (just closes)
after logging in, screen goes black and displays the kHz (needs restart)
screen just goes "DOS" blue (needs restart)
EVE just crashed to desktop ingame
What already did (not necessarily in that order)
Installed Win2k 2 more times (always formatted partition before)
    Installed all servicepacks
    Installed newest BIOS/Drivers
Installed different VGA drivers (catalyst 4.9, 4.10 and new Omega)
Checked for viruses with 3 different scanners (Antivir personal, AVAST
    a nd Kaspersky trial)
Tried to tweak settings (AGP from 8x to 4x), using defaults for BIOS etc...
Finally yesterday I changed the FSB of my XP2000+ from 133 to 100,
running at 1250 MHz instead of the standard 1667) and now it seems to
    work.
Still that isn't really cool to turn down your CPU by 25%....
    My System
    AMD XP 2000+
    MSI K6T Delta
Hitachi 160 GB SATA drive (was Maxtor 40 GB 7200rpm)
    512 Apacer CL3 DDR 400
    Sapphire Radeon 9600
    Any ideas?

Thanks for the tip; it finally gave me a rough idea what the reason could be:
I suppose the SATA drive needs slightly more W than my old IDE HD; together with
the 80mm TC case cooler I installed a couple of weeks ago, i might just hit the
    "sweet" spot of my PSU.
Which (almost) can be proven by the fact that i tunred down the FSB of my Athlon XP from 133 to 100 MHz yesterday night. Everything ran stable from then on.
I guess I need to lock out for a nice new PSU ^^. Any recommendations regarding
    the stats for 3,3V, 5V and 12V?

  • My K6T lst boards OCed

I have built 4 machines on the K6T lsr board, all with the 2500+ CPU and Zalmann cooler. I am using the 430 watt Antec True Power performance PSU, Crucial 3200 DDRAM, and the nVidia 5900 card from another major manufacturer.  All boxes are running the cpu in AUTO setting at 200 FSB, giving me the following:
     CPU Properties:
          CPU Type                                          AMD Athlon XP-A, 2233 MHz (5.5 x 406) 3200+
          CPU Alias                                         Barton
          CPU Stepping                                      A2
          L1 Code Cache                                     64 KB
          L1 Data Cache                                     64 KB
          L2 Cache                                          512 KB (On-Die, Full-Speed)
46C is the cpu temp with the house temp at 72F. (you figure it out! I still cant remember how) All on XP and run without any issues.  Says a lot for quality parts, like the POWER SUPPLY many forget about. $40 case, $10 power supply. Get a good one!
    Peace.

    Sound interesting.... but....
How you reached 5.5 * 406 MHz? and how about the FSB/PCI/AGP dividers?

  • LAN connection on K7N2 Delta board

I have a K7N2 Delta board running Fedora linux. I have installed a spare lan card which works fine. However, Fedora does not recognise the built in lan connector at all. I assume that there must be a linux driver for this. Can anyone tell me where I can find this driver?
    TIA

  • New K7N2 Delta board problems!!

I decided to upgrade my spare PC with a K7N2 Delta board since that is what I am running on my main PC.
I installed the board, installed windows XP, everythign was working great til I upgraded the Bios.
    Now the system does this
Sometimes It will boot and say the HD is m issing files
Sometimes it will boot and I go to the Bios and it will hang when the main menu comes up.
Sometimes it will let me go into a sub menu int he bios and it will hang there.
Sometimes when I hit Delete to go to the bios the screen willl go all black.
    Any Idea's?
I disconnected all the drives and started the computer and tried to go to bios but it did one of the above.
The bios says its the recent 8/02/04 bios.
I am guessing the bios is fubarred and I am SoL...

    mglines,
Do you have the CPU to FSB Ratio set to 1:1?
Also what RAM Timings are you using?
What about the Heatsink, what thermal grease did you use when you put it on?
    Take Care,

  • Zalman Cnps 7000a alcu

Is this cooler good for my system?
Does it fit in a Neo2 with a BFG 6800 GT OC?
Is it noisy? (compared to the stock HSF and compared to a Thermalright XP90)
Wich one is better for me? This Zalman or a Thermalright XP90?
Please help. I'll buy one of these two.

I have the same components as you and i can safely say that 7000A AlCu will fit on this motherboard with the BFG 6800GT OC.
It does come close to the video card and the first memory slot though.
So my advice is, have your memory installed before installing the cooler and don't try to put the Zalman VGA cooler on the BFG because it just won't fit.
(The stock BFG will have plenty of space though.)
As for performance, it's one of the best coolers out there.
It's cheaper than the Thermalright XP90 and it comes with a fan already installed.
    As for noise.
I build my system in an Antec Sonata case
and the 7000A is the quietest thing in the case.
(And i have it set at the max speed, 2500 RPM)
It'll be easily dwarfed by the BFG's cooler (Not that it's unberably loud, but it's not exactly close to quiet either)
And one last thing, you might have to remove the back plate on the motherboard and install Zalman's own for the heatsink to be properly seated on the cpu.
If you're haveing problems try heating up the backplate with a hair dryer first.
It'll loosen the glue on the MSI backplate.
Don't try and pry it off with a tool (ie: a screwdriver) because you risk damaging the motherboard.
Just push the 2 extruding pins and pull on the back plate.
I was able to take it off with my hands and it was very firmly stuck on there.
It's a bit of a pain but if your take your time i'll come off.
I think that about covers it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Zalman CNS 7000 AlCu & Prescott Core & neo2 pls

So I installed this Fan and really liked the quietness of it till I added a load then I was was running at 55-57 Degrees cel!!!! where as with stock I was at 45-50 Cel
    back to stock for now
maybe the All copper would be better....
Anyone else have any similar problems with Prescott?
BTW checked seating....fanmate was turned up to full.......

Hope everyone had a fine Christian/Pagan celebrate the Christ Rising/worship the Rabbit...compromise Holiday!!!!
Well I added an older thermaltake fan control/temp sensor unit........
I put the back fan in the front as intake where there is room for one more ( going to get another)
Side is intake  (I added a Startech High Flow Mesh air filter made of aluminum!!!... thought it'd quieter than the plastic and foam.. and boy this sucker is loud not turned down... still think the foam filter would be more restrictive and therefore louder)
    Top is exhaust
The front fan is loud as ALL HELL due to the minimal clearance around the fan due to my drives and the fact it's pulling from between the front bezel and the case more than through the vent holes in the bezel and adding another fan there is going to be LOUDER... but I put that sucker on fan control and I can turn it way down....a little creative cardboard use and I could isolate a tunnel from the case to vent holes in the bezel but then I'm sure I'd be loud as hell and restricting airflow......
But so far.....I've gained only about 2-3 degrees cel from moving everything around(52 cel under load)..and turning everything on full blast...( she is very nice and quiet all turned down and stays at 38-42 idle  )I'm not going to scoff at it..i'll take all I can get....
So I plan on adding another front fan....then I am seriously looking into some sort of straight funnel to aim the side intake it straight at the CPU.....anyone have any suggestions....I am gonna hit home depot....but if anyone has any ideas especially about mounting the tube..as in a good piece of hardware to use (no flexy too ghetto..too short a run..and If add a zalman 7000 later I'd like the stiff in place tube cause I'll never be able to "seal-up" to the fan)  ...I've seen the kits with the flexy tube...and they have some nice plastic mounting plates .....if I can find one of those and a precut piece of PVC...golden I would be....  I live in an apartment.....And might have access to a Dremel....but the less mess the better chances of my girlfriend not kicking me and my Box out on the street.. the PSU chimney included in these kits is dream and would allow back ports to be used as intakes no problem if I could find one separate..that'd be great..I'm sure I could fashion one somehow...but again trying to not make much of a mess and don't want to be too ghetto...http://www.sunbeamtech.com/new/products/cooling/cooling%20series-overclockers%20cooler%20kit.htm
So with the tube...Then If I decide to add any rear fans... they won't suck the fresh air directly from the side intake....(think adding one or two in the back would help????or is this just adding too much useless crapola?) Agian...I do for sure plan on added another front fan

  • K8N Neo2 Paltinum and Zalman CNPS-7000B

Simple question: Does it fit? Thinking of buing one, but can't find the info, whether it fits or not.

There are two versions of this product
    1)Zalman CNPS7000B-Alcu
    2)Zalman CNPS7000A-Alcu
I was wary as I had originally specced 2) 4 my rig, it seems that 1) is the latest version. Only diff i picked up is that 1) is slightly lighter with different fan controller. Fitting remains same. 1) was only one available in uk when i woz buying bits.

  • [VIA] K6T Delta Memory timings question

In bios when I set my memory timings to SPD they come up as 3-3-3-8 1T. However when I change the memory timings to USER and change the CAS to 2.5 and then leave the rest of the timings on AUTO the memory timings come up as 2.5-2-3-6 1T.
Iam using the free version of Sandra 2005 to get these memory timings. The system runs stable on both settings.
1- why do the other timings change when I change the CAS?
2 - Which setting is better to run for performance?
    Thanks.

Use CPU-Z to check settings.  The lower the timing the faster your ram runs.  If you can keep your ram stable at the lower settings then by all means use them.  Run memtest for a few hours to make sure its stable.

  • KT6 delta board phased out?

I have been trying to fing the KT6 lsr board for a bunch of builds I have pending. Nobody has them and one large shop says they have been discontinued.True? If so, for what?  Not everybody wants a 64bit cpu and the KT6V board is, well, a low budget board.
    Matt

While I think I agree this board does need to retire because too many people are buying it and having problems some real some caused by weak noname/unknown hardware.
The other reason with the KT880 Dual Channel chipset from via which for those whom read the press release know about the KT880 Delta FSR it makes sense to think that MSI would stop or slow the production of there current high amd/via board start shipping a value amd/via board, but the question is when will boards featuring the new KT880 appear, and will it make those not having problems switch as well as more importantly be a stable feature filled board that won't have the same or similar petty problems as the KT6 Delta so this very forum doesn't have a page filled with KT880 problem threads like it does now.
Only time well tell. In the mean time start searching high and low.

  • MOVED: K7N2 Delta board

This topic has been moved to Retired motherboards.

Hum, it doesn't seem to be that... my roommate is running at 100MBit half duplexed and his works and the NIC card I'm using instead of the onboard was set to autonegotiate and it works as i'm posting this with it right now... i also tried switching it to 100mbit full duplexed and it also worked.
you said: "any missmatch and and you will not be able to send packets"
when I try to connect with the onboard Lan it doesn't have any problem sending them, but it wont recieve any.
(oh and sorry for posting in the wrong forum)

  • Settings for an XP-M 2800 on a KT6 Delta board please.

Can anyone please tell me what FSB settings and core voltage to use on this board as I have just set the FSB to 200 and now I cannot boot. This should be right with PC3200 memory should it not.. Does this chip run at 1.45 volts like the XP2500 mobile. Cheers people.

Do you happen to know what code is on your mobile chip? Putting the code into google will tell you what voltage etc. is needed. There are different varients, so it's best to check that.
I think the mobile CPUs all run at 266mhz FSB though, although many you can overclock to run at what you want, with the unlocked multipliers.
With my XP1800-M I changed the FSB to 333mhz, as it wouldn't run at 400mhz. Just remember to set as half in the BIOS. Remember to set the memory running at the same speed as the CPU.

  • Do fan " Zalman CNPS7000A-CU" fit in a MSI " 865PE Neo2-LS" Motherboard?

    Hi
I´m trying to find out if anyvony in this forum has the experience of fitting a cooling unit (Zalman CNPS7000A-CU) on a MSI 865PE Neo2-LS motherboard.
The case is a Antec Sonata 380W With 1 exhaust fan (120mm).......
Should I expect any problems.......its a big cooling unit...
    Best regards
    Mr Lithesteel

No, the Zalman-CNPS-7000-AlCu CPU Cooler will Fit with NO problem, and Room to Spare ....And It Will Take you More Time to Remove the "Stock" Intel HSF Unit, Then it will to Install the New Zalman 7000-AlCu ......I have this HSF on All 3 Of My Systems ..And I Happen to think that the Zalman is the Best......And yes I have tried the Thermaltake.....And still Prefer the Zalman ..But with "only" one 120mm Exaust Fan ..You should at Least Install 1 120mm or 80mm Intake Fan...............Sean REILLY875
