Zalman Cnps 7000a alcu

Is this cooler good for my system?
Does it fit in a Neo2 with a BFG 6800 GT OC?
Is it noisy? (compared to the stock HSF and compared to a Thermalright XP90)
Wich one is better for me? This Zalman or a Thermalright XP90?
Please help. I'll buy one of these two.

I have the same components as you and i can safely say that 7000A AlCu will fit on this motherboard with the BFG 6800GT OC.
It does come close to the video card and the first memory slot though.
So my advice is, have your memory installed before installing the cooler and don't try to put the Zalman VGA cooler on the BFG because it just won't fit.
(The stock BFG will have plenty of space though.)
As for performance, it's one of the best coolers out there.
It's cheaper than the Thermalright XP90 and it comes with a fan already installed.
As for noise.
I build my system in an Antec Sonata case
and the 7000A is the quietest thing in the case.
(And i have it set at the max speed, 2500 RPM)
It'll be easily dwarfed by the BFG's cooler (Not that it's unberably loud, but it's not exactly close to quiet either)
And one last thing, you might have to remove the back plate on the motherboard and install Zalman's own for the heatsink to be properly seated on the cpu.
If you're haveing problems try heating up the backplate with a hair dryer first.
It'll loosen the glue on the MSI backplate.
Don't try and pry it off with a tool (ie: a screwdriver) because you risk damaging the motherboard.
Just push the 2 extruding pins and pull on the back plate.
I was able to take it off with my hands and it was very firmly stuck on there.
It's a bit of a pain but if your take your time i'll come off.
I think that about covers it.
Hope this helps.

Simple question: Does it fit? Thinking of buing one, but can't find the info, whether it fits or not.

There are two versions of this product
    1)Zalman CNPS7000B-Alcu
    2)Zalman CNPS7000A-Alcu
I was wary as I had originally specced 2) 4 my rig, it seems that 1) is the latest version. Only diff i picked up is that 1) is slightly lighter with different fan controller. Fitting remains same. 1) was only one available in uk when i woz buying bits.

  • Zalman CNPS7700-Cu/AlCu Heatsink on Neo2 K8T FIR ?

Does anyone know if the Zalman CNPS7700-Cu (http://www.zalmanusa.com/eng/product/view.asp?idx=145&code=005) or the Zalman CNPS7700-AlCu (http://www.zalmanusa.com/eng/product/view.asp?idx=146&code=005) Heatsinks fit on the Neo2 K8T FIR motherboard?
The original fan I got with my Athlon64 3000 939 is so noisy that I just have to change it.
At least i hope it is just a question of fan, because I get also a very high frequency barely hearable noise (because of the frequency) that puts real pressure on my ears.
Hope it's not the motherboard making that sound!?

Supposedly the 7700 will fit, But then since an XP-120 will Fit and the 7700 is not something I know too much about, I'll stick with the XP-120 of which I have on My Neo2-F and Yes I just purchased on ebay a Neo2-FIR for $93.00 So now I'll need a cpu(3200 90nm), heatsink(xp-90, As I already have a 92mm 119cfm fan in zoom1) and psu(520w Aspire) for It, As It's a cheap upgrade(As inexpensive as possible as I can get an xp90 for $38.00 plus shipping) of one of My present PCs, For Me a 92mm fan is ok, As the PC is in another room and the Keyboard, Video & Mouse is in the Front room of My house.

  • Zalman cnps 7000(A/B) and K8N Neo2 backplate

    Hi,
Tried this question before, in an existing cpu cooler thread, but without luck.
Could anyone confirm that the zalman cnps7000(A/B) coolers can be used with K8N Neo2 stock backplate works or if the zalman backplate have to be used ?
    Thanks.....
    From SAB´s FAQ.....
Zalman has revised the fastening types in their 7000 series HSF's - and choosing the proper model will ensure that the stock MSI backing plate removal is not required.

    Thanks blazing storm.....
Yes, It would be good to have a confirmation about mounting the 7000 cooler with the Stock MSI backplate.
I´m not that worried about the cooler fitting the the board itself, but on the Zalman mounting picture they seem to use the zalman backplate.

  • Zalman CNS 7000 AlCu & Prescott Core & neo2 pls

So I installed this Fan and really liked the quietness of it till I added a load then I was was running at 55-57 Degrees cel!!!! where as with stock I was at 45-50 Cel
    back to stock for now
maybe the All copper would be better....
Anyone else have any similar problems with Prescott?
BTW checked seating....fanmate was turned up to full.......

Hope everyone had a fine Christian/Pagan celebrate the Christ Rising/worship the Rabbit...compromise Holiday!!!!
Well I added an older thermaltake fan control/temp sensor unit........
I put the back fan in the front as intake where there is room for one more ( going to get another)
Side is intake  (I added a Startech High Flow Mesh air filter made of aluminum!!!... thought it'd quieter than the plastic and foam.. and boy this sucker is loud not turned down... still think the foam filter would be more restrictive and therefore louder)
    Top is exhaust
The front fan is loud as ALL HELL due to the minimal clearance around the fan due to my drives and the fact it's pulling from between the front bezel and the case more than through the vent holes in the bezel and adding another fan there is going to be LOUDER... but I put that sucker on fan control and I can turn it way down....a little creative cardboard use and I could isolate a tunnel from the case to vent holes in the bezel but then I'm sure I'd be loud as hell and restricting airflow......
But so far.....I've gained only about 2-3 degrees cel from moving everything around(52 cel under load)..and turning everything on full blast...( she is very nice and quiet all turned down and stays at 38-42 idle  )I'm not going to scoff at it..i'll take all I can get....
So I plan on adding another front fan....then I am seriously looking into some sort of straight funnel to aim the side intake it straight at the CPU.....anyone have any suggestions....I am gonna hit home depot....but if anyone has any ideas especially about mounting the tube..as in a good piece of hardware to use (no flexy too ghetto..too short a run..and If add a zalman 7000 later I'd like the stiff in place tube cause I'll never be able to "seal-up" to the fan)  ...I've seen the kits with the flexy tube...and they have some nice plastic mounting plates .....if I can find one of those and a precut piece of PVC...golden I would be....  I live in an apartment.....And might have access to a Dremel....but the less mess the better chances of my girlfriend not kicking me and my Box out on the street.. the PSU chimney included in these kits is dream and would allow back ports to be used as intakes no problem if I could find one separate..that'd be great..I'm sure I could fashion one somehow...but again trying to not make much of a mess and don't want to be too ghetto...http://www.sunbeamtech.com/new/products/cooling/cooling%20series-overclockers%20cooler%20kit.htm
So with the tube...Then If I decide to add any rear fans... they won't suck the fresh air directly from the side intake....(think adding one or two in the back would help????or is this just adding too much useless crapola?) Agian...I do for sure plan on added another front fan

  • Zalman CNPS-7000-CU HSF on K6T-delta board

Is anyone running a zalman-7000-CU heatsink with a 92mm fan on the K6T-Delta boards. When you check the compatability chart on the zalman website they don't list it as compatable. but they do mention it can be used on socket A(462) systems.
Just wondering if someone has experience with this setup before I go and buy one and it does'nt fit.
    Thanks in advance

This HSF needs the four holes around the socket for mounting so no it's not compatible plus if the holes did exist caps might get in the way. Pretty much all of the Zalmans products don't have clip based mounting systems for socket a as it would have too much stress for the socket lugs.
WERD! Been there and done that.Says good for 462,but my board and pretty sure the Delta does not have the 4 mounting holes drilled in the board

  • CPU internal thermal diode calibration

I found the following reference about calibrating the temperature measurement from the thermal diode of the CPU.
    http://www.arcticsilver.com/diode_calibration.htm
I have applied the described method to calibrate the CPU diode (Temperature Sensor 2: PII diode in Speedfan) on my K7N2-Delta2-LSR. The offset was 7C, i.e. it was measuring 7C below the actual temperature. Just wanted to let others know, although the offset value may not be the same on every K7N2-Delta2-LSR, you can repeat the procedure yourself to do your own calibration. I used the system temperature (temperature sensor 1) as inlet temparature to my fan (that may not be accurate too but, I think, it is still a good estimate for inlet temperature). For the the two different CPU speeds, I used 12 and 8 multipliers at 200 FSB, 1.65 Vcore, and fan speed at ~4000rpm, i.e. ran the CPU at 2.4 and 1.6 GHz for the two measurements. Prime95 was used to load the CPU and temparature was monitored with Speedfan.
After calibration (i.e. 7C offset), my idle CPU temp is 40C and loaded 57C at 2.4 GHz. These temperatures are, I think, completely acceptable with a cheap cooler.
The relevant specs of this system is the following.
    MSI K7N2-Delta2-LSR (Bios B.5)
    Athlon XP-M 2500 -> OC: 2.4 GHz (12x200, 1.65v)
Kingwin KCU-7015 cooler with Arctic Silver 5
Single channel 512 MB PC3200 DDR 2.5-3-3-8 (running as DDR400)
    300W Generic PSU
I will also apply the same method to my other system with the following specs. Let me know if anyone wants to know the results for that system too.
    MSI GNB-Max-FISR
    Pentium 3.06HT -> OC:3.45 (23x150, 1.55v)
Zalman CNPS-7000A-AlCu cooler  with Arctic Silver 5
Dual channel 1 GB PC2700 DDR 2-3-3-6 (running as DDR300)
    350W PSU Fortron
    Cheers

    Brichy,
Here are the calibration data for GNB-Max. Please consider that your calibration could be slightly different.
The offset was -2C, i.e. Speedfan was reading 2C above the actual temperature. Again, I used the system temperature as inlet temperature to the fan, this may not be exactly accurate but should still be a good estimate for inlet temperature. Given that GNB-Max is not the most overclocking friendly motherboard (but the most stable I have ever owned), I used FSB=133 and FSB=150, with 1.55 Vcore, and fan speed at ~2500rpm, i.e. ran the CPU at 3.067 and 3.45 GHz for the two measurements. Prime95 was used to load the CPU and temparature was monitored with Speedfan as before.
After calibration (i.e. -2C offset), my idle CPU temp is 39C and loaded 60C at 3.45 GHz. Interestingly, BIOS is giving 4C more than what Speedfan was reading before calibration, i.e. it is off (higher) by 6C.
The system specs are as follows. Please let me know if more info needed.
    MSI GNB-Max-FISR
    Pentium 3.06HT -> OC:3.45 (23x150, 1.55v)
Zalman CNPS-7000A-AlCu cooler  with Arctic Silver 5
Dual channel 1 GB PC2700 DDR 2-3-3-6 (running as DDR300)

  • Do fan " Zalman CNPS7000A-CU" fit in a MSI " 865PE Neo2-LS" Motherboard?

    Hi
I´m trying to find out if anyvony in this forum has the experience of fitting a cooling unit (Zalman CNPS7000A-CU) on a MSI 865PE Neo2-LS motherboard.
The case is a Antec Sonata 380W With 1 exhaust fan (120mm).......
Should I expect any problems.......its a big cooling unit...
    Best regards
    Mr Lithesteel

No, the Zalman-CNPS-7000-AlCu CPU Cooler will Fit with NO problem, and Room to Spare ....And It Will Take you More Time to Remove the "Stock" Intel HSF Unit, Then it will to Install the New Zalman 7000-AlCu ......I have this HSF on All 3 Of My Systems ..And I Happen to think that the Zalman is the Best......And yes I have tried the Thermaltake.....And still Prefer the Zalman ..But with "only" one 120mm Exaust Fan ..You should at Least Install 1 120mm or 80mm Intake Fan...............Sean REILLY875

  • Temperatures

Just wondering why my system temperatures are so high. Cpu on the other hand is good at 93/34 degs F/C. No matter what I do both CoreCentre and (more accurate) MBM5 shows 91/33 degs F/C. This is after 10 mins idling (not overclocked) and a room/ambient temperature of 68 or 69 degs F.
    Any ideas ?

I have some good news. I found one dead hot spot on my computer ! It is on the top rear right side of my computer. I just now finished the hole and mounted and powered  a 80MM fan. A minor problem but I had to mount the fan ON TOP of case which means I had to cut another small hole for the power leads to go down into the case.
Case/System temperature now is steady at 82F/28C. This also improved the CPU temps slightly to 91F/33C. Total fans used so far: one 6 inch 110 volt 15 watt (unknown RPM and CFM) at the bottom forcing air to top, one 90MM 12 volt fan near top middle forcing air out and one 80MM 12 volt (described above) also at top exhausting air to top. I have no side facing fans (I call them side winders) except of course the Zalman CPU HSF. I am going to look for one more hot spot. When I find it and cure it then I am declaring this Computer Summer ready.
In case anyone wondered I also have a Shuttle AK31 mobo with AMD XP1500+. It also is mounted in a Aluminum case with 400 watt power supply. Its temps are Case/System 77F but CPU at 95F. Its higher CPU temp can be blamed on standard aluminum Heat sink with 80MM smart fan. It is 2 years old and I am tinkering with the idea of upgrading it to a AMD "Thorton" XP2400+ and since the Zalman has performed so well on the Athlon 64 I think I will upgrade the HSF to a Zalman copper 6000 (four mounting holes near the ZIFF socket 'A' instead of the MSI K8T neo's two).

    NBtemp = N/A (???)
    Bios Temp:
    cpu: 49'C
    System: 49'C
So, the NB is way too hot, but not the System (is that a problem off the Bios?)
Is that Message from the Core Center or from Win XP or ...
    What schould i do?
    Greetings Tommigotchi

the temps (alarm)limit in corecenter are set to 61 cpu and 61 System. So the CC schould not be the problem.
53 for the System (NB) is hot, but not so hot that it schould be a Problem, right?
So why the Shutdown because off "abnormal" ? system temp???
(I thought MSi said that the NB with no fan is no prob in the Neo P.)

  • Cooler Recommendation ?

    Hello
I browsed the Manual, the Forum, and the Tech Compatibilty page, but I couldn´t find any clue about what cooler to use with a Neo KT8 FIS2R.
    So here my quesions:
    1. Is the AMD Boxed cooler sufficent (I am looking for a silent cooler) and does he support Quiet N Cool ?
    2. If the Boxed doesn´t meet the requirements, which one should I use ?
    3. For Cool N Quiet I need a Cooler with 3 Pins, to enable RPM Controle ?

I recommend the Zalman cnps 7000. Whatever you choose be aware that the MSI K8T neo has TWO holes around the Ziff (CPU) socket NOT four. I originally choose the SLK900 and it would not fit.
At a ambient/room temperature of 76F my idle temps is 33C/89F for case and 34C/91F for the CPU. What impresses me about the Zalman is when I defragment (for example) a large partition the CPU temp soars to 44C/105F within a minute 20 secs and doesnt get any higher. When it finishes it goes back to idle temp also within a minute 20 secs.

  • Installing Linux 64

I have been trying to install Mandrake Linux 64bit. It will not install in the ordinary mode since it does not recognise my SATA drive so I tried expert. I get to the point where it asks for a module. I select sata-via and it asks for any further switches etc (I don't have any). Once this is done then the darn thing does'nt recognise my CDrom drive and everything fails.

Memory freq= AUTO (If you set it to 400 mhz you won't get MAT)
Performance Mode= TURBO (FAST increases AGP/PCI bus)
Timings= depends on you ram, set it manually to whatever specifications you have (If it still doesn't work, try setting to SPD)
If all of this doesn't work then set memory freq to 400Mhz and Performance mode Turbo, or Ultra Turbo and you WILL get higher performance even if you don't have PAT/MAT. Test this with Sandra and you will see that the memory bandwidth is almost as high as with PAT on.
Recommended: Install ClockGen and set it so that it loads with windows. Use it to set the FSB to 200 and AGP/PCI 66/33 for added stability.
Please post back to see if this works for you guys. Good luck!
