Zbook 14 ultraslim docking station Windows 10 problem

Hello, having problems with my notebook using ultraslim docking station since installation of Windows 10.All drivers given from HP-Drivers-Website for Windows 10 were installed. New Bios 01.32 (Win10 support)! issue:- If notebook is in the docking station pc doesnt recognize external monitor! After serveral restarts external monitor works. Here it seems the graphic card doesnt switch from intel to AMD. - If notebook goes to sleepmode it can never wake. Notebook will restart automatically Does anyone have the same problem? regardsel

I have the same problem , in my case if I start the laptop with the screen open, the notebook recognizes the monitor VGA, if I start with the display closed does not recognize the VGA monitor and the device manager indicates an error in the graphics card Intel. If I open or close the screen with the computer turned on, crashes and restarts.
The Display Port always recognizes the monitor. vmm

  • Broke docking station; Windows won't recognize Shuffle

Okay, so the connector in the docking station became loose today. I put my shuffle on it and tried to connect to the computer -- nothing. So I went and bought a "USB Travel dock" which is specifically for 2nd generation shuffles. When I connect my Ipod, an orange light blinks twice and then nothing. Windows says it's an unknown device. I've tried the reset utility and it doesn't recognize the shuffle either. I've tried resetting to no avail.
The Ipod, itself, works fine, as I was using it earlier, but now the battery needs to be charged and it's looking impossible to connect or charge it. I'm thinking I may have damaged the part where you plug it into the dock, but my headphones work fine when I plug them in the same hole. =/ I have no idea.

was having this problem among others. Found that I could see it in windows explorer but only as an additional disk but nothing in itunes. reformatted in windows, used updater then ejected from explorer. when fires up itunes and then reconnected ipod - it found it.

  • 2013 Ultraslim docking station drivers

Does anyone know where to find drivers for this docking station? The Hp support page is empty and the docking station will not transmit sound.

Yes, you can use the one you mentioned.
If you use a lower one then you will have to turn off the unit and charge or it may not charge at all.
    Wish you luck,
    Karthik

  • T61p docking station/ethernet cable problem

When placed in the mini docking station, my T61p laptop fails to recognize the Ethernet cable connected to the dock itself.  To  successfully use an Ethernet connection the cable must be connected directly to the Ethernet port on the thinkpad and the thinkpad must not be placed in the docking station (so the purpose of the docking station is completely defeated).  How can I successfully make an Ethernet connection through the docking station?  At this point USB and screen connections all work fine.  Thanks for any help.

    Most likely a drivers issue...
Go to Lenovo site http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-67829 and download Intel PRO/1000 LAN Adapter Software driver.
    Version:   9.12.41.1001 Release Date: 2009/05/19
    Steps to take:
    Select Control Pannel
    Click Administrative Tools
    Click Computer Management
    Scroll and expand "Device Manager"
    Expand Network Adopters
Check if Intel Gigabit Network Connection is (enabled/disabled)
If Disabled, enable (right click and enable)
    Here you can also uninstall,
then from the above site, download the driver and install,
then repeat earlier steps and enable adaptor
That should work for you, with or without the driver.

  • HP Zbook 15, external monitor connected to docking station issue

    Dear all
I have bought a HP Zbook 15 laptop and installed Ubuntu 12.04. It does not show anything on the external monitor when I mount the laptop on the docking station.
After installing the Ubuntu 12.04 and putting it on the docking station for the first time, I got this problem:
"If an ACPI driver is available for this device, you should use it instead of the native driver". I have attached the whole log file. Then, I installed the latest Nvidia driver, and restarted the machine. This time, I do not see that error message; however, I cannot see anything on my external monitor which is connected to the docking station. Can you please tell me how to fix this problem?
    Best regards,
    Murtaza

@emeres: Sorry, yes, it's an HP 2013 UltraSlim Docking Station. I figured it was the only one compatible with the notebook model I provided.
Regarding any electrical circuitry or controls... well, sure, I'm assuming there's some circuitry in there
I'll give a whirl at using that two screen setup when I get a chance. I'm not inclined to think I need to hard-code it in a xorg conf file of some sort given that xrandr finds it just fine. I'm just perplexed by why it goes AWOL after one connect/disconnect. Now that you mention it, it could be the docking station internals, as I'm assuming most folks would be using this to plug in their computer, then completely remove it to go elsewhere, and then come back to their desk. Thus, they'd be physically disconnecting it vs. just toggling?
That said, I'm pretty sure I can use Windows Fn+F4 to toggle laptop vs. laptop + "projector" (what Win7 calls any external display) all day with no issues, so I'd think xrandr should be able to do the same?

I have a zbook 14 and extended battery CM03XL and also  have the ultraslim docking station that you slide the connector that slides and locks into the notebook so the extended battery makes it impossible to use the docking station (the 3 cell battery lasts me 1.5 hours max w/ heavy use so I always need the battery slice with me and charged).
Is there an HP docking station I can use with this zbook 14 with the extended battery connected?

    Hello, @panoulix
To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since the HP ZBook 17 Mobile Workstation is a commercial product. You can do this at Notebook - HP ProBook, ZBook, EliteBook, Compaq, Slate/Tablet PC, Armada, LTE.
The support page for your product may be helpful in the meantime:

    I hope this helps!
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

  • USB ports on 8440p docking station hang.

I have a brand new 8440p in a new docking station. After a few minutes all the USB ports on the docking station go dead. After some power resets the ports come back to life but after a few more minutes the ports hang again. The USB ports on the laptop itself still work. The laptop is running Windows 7. I have replaced the docking station already. Any ideas?

It could be a faulty docking station (or a problem with the design of the device). Is the problem consistent with all usb 3 ports? Have you tried other usb3 peripherals?
I think you should contact the nearest Lenovo service representative if you're still under warranty, or try another docking station with your T530 and your WD, maybe at a Lenovo dealer.

No problem. It is an older monitor. But being a small business, we can't afford to discard a working monitor that costs $1500 to replace.
The annoying part is that we tried to do a lot of research prior to purchase to find out exactly what resolutions the Lenovo docking solutions supported. We asked our rep to check because of the total lack of Lenovo documenation on this. We would not have wasted all this time trying to get it to work if we had known.
Even now, no one from Lenovo has come right out and stated that their docking stations don't support Dual Link. I think that they actually have no idea.
We've been bounced around and around between the same Lenovo sales, support and customer service numbers so many times in the past three days that they are now just dropping our calls in the hope that we will go away. No one at Lenovo has offered a solution of any kind.
FYI, we've even been told that because we ordered the W540 through CDW that there is 'nothing Lenovo can do.'

  • Strange dual screen issue with HP Folio 1040 and docking station

    Hi there,
I have a laptop in a docking station. Two displays are connected using the docking station's DisplayPorts. Instead of showing me two separate displays like I'd have expected, xrandr seems to "see" only one large screen.
Laptop: HP EliteBook Folio 1040 with Intel HD 4400 graphics card
Docking station: HP 2013 UltraSlim Docking Station
    $ xrandr

    720x400 70.08
HDMI2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
VIRTUAL1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
eDP1 is the laptop's built-in display, while DP2 seems to represent _both_ displays. When I select 1920x1080, the two displays show the same. When I select 3840x1080, however, the two displays show a side-by-side setup, such that X11 spans over both of them. While I'm happy that I'm now able to make use of the second display, this obviously breaks some software stuff, like fullscreen video in vlc, for example. Any suggestions what I can do about that? Is it possible to software-split the screen such that it looks like a normal dual-head setup again?

You could define two screens in xorg.conf similar to last post here. You would have to select the screen using the -display switch or the DISPLAY variable when using xrandr.

  • Random pause with docking station

I regularly use my 3g 20bg iPod with my docking station and line out to a stereo receiver. I recently replaced my original docking station with a universal docking station and have started experiencing random pauses during playback. It starts after playing for about 30 minutes or so and usually occures 3 or 4 times. Then, it is fine for for as long as I use it. If I stop playing it for several minutes and then start again, I get the same pasuing again. I am using the latest version of the software(v2.3) and have reset it and restored it multiple times over the past few weeks.

Is there a reason you can't go back to the original docking station? The problem is obviously with your new universal docking station. You might want to try and return it as defective.
I'm not sure what you can do to troubleshoot the problem within the docking station.

  • Docking station failure

can't get the 2013 ultraslim docking station USB ports to work with my elitebook 1040

Docks are usually pretty robust but they do need good reliable power. I would not chuck it until I tried a new power supply. The fact that the power supply does not reliably power the laptop tells me the power supply is bad. The dock might also be bad but both going bad at the same time is far less likely.

  • Problem with starting Windows when W510 in docking station

When I put in my W510 to the docking station, I have usually every second day problems with starting up Windows operation system.
I make 2 videos, where on the first 100_1060.MOV you can see starting Windows when it is frozen (first 1 minute record, I start record after about 3 minutes frozen), then I have to reboot W510 by on/off button and start ThinkVantage.
On the second video 100_1061.MOV is starting operating system after ThinkVantage process, this start is OK.

  • Problem with laptop and docking station

    Hello.
We have two laptops with two docking station. Both laptops w/ docking have the same problem:
When the computer is turned off, and its still connected to the docking station, the fan in the computer start to run really fast. The fan goes on for a good while. This is making alot of noise, which can be annoying for the person using the office. When the computer is on, the fan runs at normal speed. If you disconnect the computer from the docking station, the fan stops immediately. Any ideas?

It is possible the notebook is not completing the shutdown in full when docked.
Make sure the BIOS is the most recent version.
Here is the most recent one to try should you need it.
Other than that, I am afraid I do not have much else for this. I did some research, but I didn't really find anything that was exactly like this. I found scenarios where the fan would run at full speed when docked, but this happened whether the notebook was booted or not. You can try your luck in the business support forums to see if they may have something that is a little more helpful.

  • T42 docking station problem

    Hi all.
Having this weird issue with one of our worker's T42. Whenever she connects her T42 to a docking station and closes the lid of the laptop, mouse starts moving around, no emails can be selected in outlook, no option to restart the computer (start->shutdown brings up the dialog window, but can't choose anything from there.)
She has tried another dock, but no difference, same problems.
    Do you have any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

    Lullaby, welcome to the forum,
    Some suggestions to try;
    1) replace the dome TrackPoint cap with the Traditional "hairy" one, it has a lower profile.
    2) remove the Trackpoint cap all together
    3) ensure that the keyboard is seated properly, removal and installation instructions can be found here (You could maybe also try bending the keyboard a bit if you remove it)
    4) disable the Trackpoint using the UltraNav utility or in BIOS
As you can probably guess, I believe your problem maybe that the Trackpoint is in contact with the screen when closed.
    Hope this helps
