ZCM 11.2 new primary server - How do I
Hi,
We currently have a ZCM 11.2 install sitting on a Windows Server 2003 32bit. I have a new server running Windows 2008 64bit which I want to move the ZCM install to. I have looked at the various disaster recover scenarios as provided by novells documentation 11.2 disaster recovery reference but dont see in "replacing the primary server with a secondary server" a supported option of going from Windows server 2003 32bit to Windows server 2008 64bit.
I see this is supported in the replacing primary with a new server (eg same IP etc) but this is not the scenario I wish to follow.
Is my direction to simply install another copy of 11.2 as a secondary primary? on my 2008 64bit, go into existing management zone, follow the directions in the above reference doc in section 2.1.
I am wondering though with the secondary primary (2008 64bit) how do I go about moving the internal sybase from the old primary across to the new secondary. It has a reference to how to move the internal to and external sybase but I want the secondary primary (which will be the new primary) to have an internal sybase database like the old primary.
Any help appreciated.
Yes, that would Be ideal as it was / is my primary DSFW onsite & DNS. So the new ZCM Box would have a different name & IP.
My thought was bring up a Second Primary in the exiting ZONE. Get it functioning / updated. (That's been an issue as well, but that will be another thread). Look at doing a DB /Content migration to the new server and shutting down the ZCM services on the old...I am sure I am missing some stuff....
What other options do we have? I am all ears....I am assuming you / we can not do the "Import/Upgrade" routine to the OVA.

If so, you will need to rename and change the IP address of one of them.
We can think through different options.

New Primary Server....now how to redirect clients?
We installed a new primary server (22) to replace an aging primary server (14) on Tuesday. I can manually unregister clients and register to the new server (22) but want to know if there is an easier way to force the clients to show that they are connected to the new server (22) so I can shutdown the old server (14).
Any & all advice is MUCH appreciated!!!!!If you follow the doc you don't need to do anything at device level exept to refresh... But yes if you want to, then you could call a batch/script that does the reregistration, through a bundle

After switchover to standby as primary, now how to switch back
Hello DG experts:
I'm running Oracle 11.2 on Linux 5.8.
I am in the process of (trying) to mimic our existing production DG environment for testing purposes.
So far...
I've managed to set up a primary and standby database and ensured all logs apply properly.
My database name is DGTEST (on both primary and standby).
My db_unique_name is DGTEST_DG1 on primary, and DGTEST_DG2 on standby.
I performed a switchover from primary to standby, and opened the standby database as primary.
But, first thing is that when I check the switchover_status from v$database, it says: NOT ALLOWED.
Okay, so now what? Do I need to have another pfile to set specifically for when I am in primary or standby modes?
Here are relevant commands I have checked already:
on new Primary (db_unique_name = DGTEST_DG2)
SQL> select switchover_status from v$database;
SWITCHOVER_STATUS
NOT ALLOWED
SQL> select sequence#, applied from v$archived_log order by 1;

on new Standby (db_unique_name = DGTEST_DG1)
SQL> select switchover_status from v$database;

SQL> select sequence#, applied from v$archived_log order by 1;

. . .Please keep in mind that I have made this test environment as close as possible (I think) to our production environment.
One of the objectives is to confirm we can switchover and back in our production environment.
So if there is something seriously wrong with this environment and it is the same in our production environment, that would be one of my primary objectives to find out about.
Only significant difference is that we are also using DGBroker in production and I did create configuration yet until I got the switchover working manually first.Hi,
Follow This Steps:
How to Switchover from Primary to Standby Database?

Update Primary server OS from 2008 R2 to 2012 R2
Anyone had any experience doing an in-place OS upgrade on a ZCM primary server? I have a single primary server currently running Server 2008 R2 and would like to update it to 2012 R2. Would I be better off building a new primary server?

Which version of ZENworks are you running?
Support for Windows 2012 Server R2 was only added with the 11.3.1 Update
for ZENworks 11 SP3 so you would need to at least be running that
version before upgrading the Windows Server OS.

CAS server deployment -- Additional Primary server deployment with same site code
Hi,
I have an primary site server deployed at one of the location on windows server 2008 R2 with SCCM 2012 R2.
I need to have an additional primary server at same site with OS of windows server 2012 R2 with SCCM 2012 R2.
I would need help in how to achieve this.
If I deploy this will my all endpoints will get an information of new Primary server at same site.
Regards,
Deepak SharmaTo add-on, based on the title of the post, do I understand it correctly that you want to deploy that second primary site in the same hierarchy with the same site code as an existing primary site? If so, that's a huge no-go. Never use the same site code
twice in the same hierarchy...

Moved new primary now can't see each other's imaging folders
We have two primary zcm servers.
I've moved one the primary holding the embedded db a new primary server. Same name same IP etc. It seems to work ok.
But, if I am on zcc on server 1 and try and browse to an image server 2 (and vice versa) I get:
com.novell.zenworks.datamodel.exceptions.InternalD ataModelException: java.lang.RuntimeException: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: No trusted certificate found
I did find this https://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7002816 but it didn't help.
I've also tried zac retr but that hasn't helped.
Ideas?
ThanksDid you try to do the `zac cert-info` command on both servers to see if they matches?
Compare the thumbprint of the ones that finish with "O=Internal Certificate Authority" too.
Regards,
Guillaume

I purchased a new pc. How do I make this the primary pc for iTunes and all of my apple devices? I need to know how to take all Itunes files off old pc and put on new pc. Also, disable old pc.
Backup your library using this User Tip.
The same tool can be used to backup other important user data.
Deauthorise the old computer
Restore the library into the music folder of your new profile. (Use the same tool as for the backup)
Install iTunes and sign in to your account.

I have downloaded Server 2012 R2 (not the trial version) and the size of the ISO is 5.2Gb. I get 'disc image file is too large' error when trying to create image on DVD. How do I install 2012 R2 on a new physical server?
Does your server have an out-of-band management console? Those can generally mount virtual media that is simply a file residing on the machine you are using to connect to the console.
Another option is to use USB -

You'd have to think through this, but it seems like if you are using Outlook, and the items vanished from the Outlook client as well as the server, that you could re-populate Outlook using iTunes.

So my head is spinning on setting up a New SQL Server.
Current setup is Microsoft Server 2003 Standard and Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Standard. Nothing was maintained with Software assurance.
Environment:
Database is Limited to 2008 R2 Standard as Highest release I can use with it. So I know I need to do a Downgrade.
New Server can Be either Microsoft Server standard 2008 or 2012 x64.
The Domain Controller for right now is going to remain a Machine with Server 2003 Standard x86. It is Licensed with 30 Cals.
The office Environment:
The Office has any where from 5-7 employees.
They have 3 Office locations and employees are in 1 of the three locations depending on the day.
Between all 3 Offices they have 27 computers.
Employees also can access multiple machines through out the day.
Reception, Checkout and Third employee will be at their own machine.
3 Employees will be accessing their main machine but also float to at the most 6 other machines located in the office these machines are logged in in the morning using their own user name Employees don't login or logout on them throughout the day.
If they are in The Main Office they access the SQL server machine directly.
If they are in one of the two satellite offices the Employees will access the SQL server through the front end running on Terminal Services running on the SQL server.
My New Server will be Either a 4 or 6 core Xeon Processor.
So the Questions.
Lets say the scenario is I am buying Windows 2012 Server and Cals and Buying SQL 2012 Server and Cals and will be downgrading both to 2008.
How do I need to license Windows Server? How many Cals do I need and what way should they be setup?
How do I need to license SQL Server? By Server? By Core? How Many Cals do I need?
Thank You.Hi,
In addition, basically a downgrade is possible in case the SQL Server editions are the same. Downgrade is only supported in case a downgrade of e.g. SQL2012 Enterprise to SQL2008R2 Enterprise is done.
I have attached a link to the SQL Server 2012 Licensing Reference Guide. Look at “Upgrades, Downgrades and Step-Ups” section of the document and check which version and editions are supported for the downgrade.
SQL_Server_2012_Licensing_Reference_Guide
Hope it helps.

2: Where do I find information regarding RHEL 6 client support? roadmap etc?
