ZCM remote control on Windows 7 slow

Hi!
Well, ZCM 11.2.1, Windows 7. Noticed that Remote Control via ZCC is ... strangely slow when user is logged in. On CAD screen it's ok. Well, this is first W7 device in zone, haven't noticed such a thing on WXP.
Btw. Using Intel KVM (also VNC) ... it is much more quicker, well, sure, hardware based etc., but anyway.
Also, I use on my WXP device remote control soft from ZCM 10.x, maybe this the cause, not sure ZCM 11.x remote control soft does work with ZCM 10, I need them both running on my desktop as most of computers in ZCM 10 zone.
Any ideas?
More thanks, Alar.

I'm not aware that you can use both versions of the Remote Management Plugin against two diff. Zones.
Perhaps that's the issue?
Do you have a pc that you can install JUST the ZCM 11.x remote management viewer and then try to remote control a ZCM 11.x agent?

I installed Windows 7 32-bit and my remote control does not work. I have tried all possible drivers and still nothing ... Photo driver attached. Does anyone have a link to the current drivers for the remote control and Windows 7? thank you

    Hi John:
Thanks but, I had already done this. I was having THAT problem with Encore (could not even initialize before tanking) when I first installed it and that's when I updated the Roxio engine. I don't know what else there is to update or correct at this point.
There was one thing that occurred to me: When I was using XP, I had to disable Open GL in order to get Encore to stabilize. I've heard one recommendation for Encore that one must disable graphics acceleration. I would like try that here except I can't figure out how to do that in Windows 7.
I've been Googling "Windows 7 Disable Graphics Accel" and have come up with nothing useful.
Thanks for your help though and if you have any other ideas, I'm all ears.

  • Remotely controlling a windows PC

This isn't exactly window compatability, but I thought it fit best in this forum. Anyway. I know it's possible, but does anyone know what software I can use, and how to (or link to a page that will explain) remotely control my windows PC with my PowerBook G4?
    Thanks,
    -Dennis
    15 PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

You can use Microsoft's Remote Desktop for Mac if the Windows box is Windows XP Pro or Windows 2003.
    http://www.microsoft.com/mac/otherproducts/otherproducts.aspx?pid=remotedesktopc lient
Or you can use any VNC client for OS X, like Chicken of the VNC on OS X and realvnc or tightvnc on the Windows end, but that setup is more complex.

  • Remote control and windows XP SP2

I have been creating new images and noticed that when I install windows XP
service pack 2 that the remote control client fails to load up and I cannot

I have seen this on a vairety of different workstations and different

thanx to Shawn Dakin for this solutions
    1) Change the Windows Firewall/ICS service to manual
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\SharedAccess
    String Value Start = 3
    2) Force Windows Firewall/ICS service to start before Remote Management
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Novell User Agent
Multi String Value DependOnService = SharedAccess
NOTE: DependOnService must also contain WM
    3)Set Firewall Exceptions for wuser.exe
netsh firewall add portopening UDP 1761 ZENRC Enable
netsh firewall add portopening UDP 1762 ZENRC Enable
netsh firewall add allowedprogram c:\novell\zenrc\wuser32.exe ZenRC enable
NOTE We placed the netsh commands in the autoexec.bat of every WinXpSp2
    machine.
This fixed the problems for us, and allows us to remote control even if
    the user is not connected.

  • Remotely Control Windows 7 Home Premium

    Hey,
So this is my problem: I've got two computers at home. One's a Mac and the other is a Wndows 7 Home Premium machine.
I have Lion Server coupled with ARD 3 and need to remotely control the Windows computer. I have installed VNC 4 (on Windows) but don't know what to do next.
I understand there is a bunch of restrictions within Windows 7 Home Premium when it comes to remote connections but it's something I really need to sort out.
Do you know how to set up ARD with Windows VNC (or any other paths to remote control)?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Cameron

    Hey,
So on the Windows PC the "Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer" checkbox is marked.
And on the Mac the error message reads:
"The Mac cannot connect to the Windows based computer.
    This problem can occur if:
    • The Windows-based computer is not set up to accept remote connections.
    • The Windows-based computer is not turned on.
    • The Mac, or the Windows-based computer is experiencing network problems.
Try connecting to the Windows-based computer again, or contact your administrator."
    Thanks for being so helpful!

When I am remote controlling a Windows XP 64bit PC with RealVNC, Firefox 11 does not update its window contecns. Old Firefox 3.6 works just fine. Is it called a redraw or drawing issue?

You can try to disable OMTC and leave hardware acceleration in Firefox enabled.
    *<b>about:config</b> page: <b>layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled</b> = false
You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location/address bar.
You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • How Can I Control a Windows PC from Apple Remote Desktop Please?

    Hello Everybody
    Please excuse my bad English.
I would like to ask you, how could be possibile setup windows pc (XP or 7) to be controlled by a Mac with Apple Remote Desktop 3.7.2
I think I have to use VNC, but how can i SETUP to connect XP or 7 to my Mac Apple Remote Desktop in the same LAN?
    Thanks a lot
    Giovanni

You can use ARD to remote control a windows machines, ARD is built on VNC
You'll have to install a VNC server on the windows machine you want to access
You won't be able to use most of the ARD features as they are specific to mac
You'll be be able to see and control the desktop and that's about it
You can also find VNC /Remote Desktop apps in the iOS store that will allow remote desktop connection from iPad /iPhone,
There is a mac version of Microsoft remote desktop in the Mac App Store

  • Remote Control System Center 2012 Configuration Manager

Hi all, first post on the forums.  Was wondering if anyone was having a similar issue.  We are slowly testing SCCM and I'm stuck on probably the most important feature, remote control.  Whenever I "Start Control" of a workstation,
the remote control agent window shows "Connecting to Host Session" which brings up another prompt that alerts me that "The identity of the computer cannot be verified..." to which I reply "yes" to connect anyway.  However
I never connect and in the remnote control agent window shows "Viewer DIconnected".
On the client itself, in the CmRcService.log file, even though it shows that "Session allowed full control" and that I'm an "authorized viewer", later on I see "Disconnecting the connection.  An existing connection was forcibly
closed by the remote host.  (Error: 80072746: Source Windows".  One line below, the log reports "The connection has been terminated".   Note I do not have a Firewall Policy enabled and I do not have any stringent virus protection
running.  Currently testing on Win7 x86 machine but also happens on WinXP, Server 2008 x64 and x86, etc.  Any have a resolution or idea why this is occuring?  Any help and/or guidance would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks all.

  • Can I control a Windows PC from my Macbook Pro?

I have a Macbook Pro running Mavericks, and a Windows PC running XP.
I don't use the Windows machine much, it's just for tasks using older software, etc.  It's not connected to the network in the house because it runs XP which no longer receives security updates from MS.
What I would love to do is control the XP machine by using Remote Desktop from my Macbook, rather than having a separate keyboard, mouse and monitor connected to the XP machine.
I've no idea how to go about doing this if the XP machine isn't on the home network.
    Any suggestions?

  • Remote Control Error.

I am new to this forum and new to Novell so bear with me (and apparently I was in the wrong forum so I have recreated this here). When our techs try to remote control a Windows XP PC they may get an error message at the beginning of the session or when the session is closed. The message is RCConsole MFC Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. The techs run ConsoleOne from a server. We then have the user request a control session, the tech supplies an ip address, the tech responds to the request, the user gives the go ahead and the session dies. When I tested this on a couple of PCs the error occured when I closed the session. This appears to me to be a network rights issue. I had the techs copy and run ConsoleOne from their PCs and it ran fine. When I ran ConsoleOne from the network server, but with network rights, it also ran fine. RCConsole appears to be trying to create/write a .txt file in the following folder: \ConsoleOne\1.2\bin\zen\RcLaunch and it gets an access denied. The file is called RMErrorLog1.txt. The techs do not have and will not have write access to the network directory structure. Also, the preference here is to have them run the program from the network.
I am told that this process used to work so I can only assume that RCConsole has been changed to output these .txt files when it didn't do that before. I haven't been able to determine how to turn off these files or whether that would be wise. This .txt file seems to be more of a log file than an error file (lots of RCListener: Ready to accept connections... lines). Does anyone know what these .txt files are and how to turn them off?
    Thanks.

  • Remote Control Optimization under Windows XP

    Hello -
I am having problems getting remote control optimizations activated
    under
Windows XP. RC works like a dream on our 98 boxen, but XP is slow as
    molasses.
    Zenworks 3.2 (non-SP1)
Our server is Netware 5.1 sp6 (I think)
    Novell Client 4.83 (non-SP1)
    Dell Optiplex GX240
    Windows XP (non-SP1)
16 mb ATI Rage Pro Ultra Video Card
    driver: ati2dvaa.dll

This is the newest one on Dell's site, albeit dated August 2001.
The thing that gets my goat is that the Zen 3.0 readme says the

can tell which cards are bad so it doesn't install the .dlls, but then
doesn't list the bad cards. Also, all my machines have drishi.dll in
