If you run the top command in terminal, then what process is using that much CPU?

  • ZCM 11 very slow Windows 7 image restore

    Hello NG
In our enviroment we work with ZCM11. We made a Windows 7 image. The zcm
filesize is about 4.7 GB. The disksize is 40 GB.
Now the restore take long time. For restoring 4.7 GB Zenworks Imaging need
about 85 Minutes. It can not be true!!
The cause why ZCM imaging has problems is the winsxs folder, with a lot of
small files. Here ZCM do lose much time.
Does exist a patch or hotpatch that do solve this issue?
    Regards
    Ramon

    Hi Domicicm
could you send me a link where i can download this imagex tool? I didn't
find a third party software for imaging.

hi ramon, if you read older posts on this concern, yes it is "normal"
.... it seems that's the limitation of the actual imaging engine (10.3
    or 11).
I'm in the same boat as you, Novell recommends to use imagex the
third-party tool, that works really fast (about 12 min to restore an
win7 image, even with the winsxs folder) but the problem with imagex is
we can't multicast, so big problem here..... no real solution, and
Novell is expecting to release a new Imaging Engine for about the
    spring....

  • Dropped my iPhone 4s and now it's realllllly Slow! Help:/

I dropped it flat on the front and it's actually fine no scratches or cracks. But now it's exteemely slow and I keep getting a pop up that says storage is almost full which is not true and my apps and everything take forever to open and when I try to answer my phone It take forever for the answer button to work :/ has this happened to anyone? What should I do thanks

apple iphone is not a phone. its a machine and phone is one of the features of that machine. once u open a process and close it using the home button, the process still keeps running in the background. a number of such processes are being runned thus making ur iphone **** slow.
inorder to stop all these open processes, click the home button twice, all the opened processes are shown on the lower side of the screen. hold ur finger on one of the process for few seconds and then it displays a "-" (minus) symbol on all the opened process. close all of them touching the minus symbol. this makes ur phone run normal again. but this has to be repeated now and then inorder to maintain good functioning of ur iphone.
    hope this helps u people.

  • Login intermittently slow with ZCM agent AND Novell client

We continue to struggle with intermittently slow logins in our environment. In testing, we noticed that logins are very fast (10-20 seconds) when only the Novell Client is installed, and very fast (~10 seconds) when only the ZCM agent is installed. However, when they are both installed, logins slow down, sometimes to 1.5 minutes or longer.
We have checked DNS and rDNS, and they are both configured properly. SLP is working properly as demonstrated by the fast logins when only the client is installed. We use LDAP for user lookup, and it also works very fast to resolve user names (~ 1 second).
We are using ZCM 10.3.1, and the client is fully patched as well (both Novell Client 2 and 4.91)
Are there any specific settings (for the ZCM agent or the client itself) that might address this issue?

My apologies, I told you to remove the wrong thing.
I should have said NMAS instead of CASA.
I am just so used to saying CASA when talking about ZCM.
In regards to NMAS, you could simply rename "NWSSO.DLL" as a test.
If NMAS is installed which is tested by the existence of this DLL, then
a certain NMAS call is always made, which in some cases can take a long
    time.

  • ZCM remote control on Windows 7 slow

    Hi!
Well, ZCM 11.2.1, Windows 7. Noticed that Remote Control via ZCC is ... strangely slow when user is logged in. On CAD screen it's ok. Well, this is first W7 device in zone, haven't noticed such a thing on WXP.
Btw. Using Intel KVM (also VNC) ... it is much more quicker, well, sure, hardware based etc., but anyway.
Also, I use on my WXP device remote control soft from ZCM 10.x, maybe this the cause, not sure ZCM 11.x remote control soft does work with ZCM 10, I need them both running on my desktop as most of computers in ZCM 10 zone.
    Any ideas?
    More thanks, Alar.

I'm not aware that you can use both versions of the Remote Management Plugin against two diff. Zones.
    Perhaps that's the issue?
Do you have a pc that you can install JUST the ZCM 11.x remote management viewer and then try to remote control a ZCM 11.x agent?

  • ZCM 10.3.3 Agent slows down Windows 7 Workstation login

    Hello together,
since we installed ZCM10 our Windows 7 workstations take extremely long time to log into Novell network.
The Novell Login Sucessfull screen appears about 2 minutes before the welcome screen appears. We noticed the following dll tries to send something.
Are there any solution to increase the performance of ZenWorks with Windows 7 workstations?
Sorry for my bad description :) Hopefuly I can answer your questions a bit better.
    Greets

Was the workstation connected to a network that has access to the ZCM servers? I've seen it where it takes a long time if the agent detects a network connection but can't contact the servers. This happened to us when users took the workstations (laptops) home. Our workaround was to have them not connect to a network (turn off wireless too) until they logged into their workstation and the desktop appeared. Then they could connect to wireless.

  • ZCM Slow Login - Resolved

None of the stuff I found online fixed our issue where ZCM agents were causing the logins to hang 5-10 mins. We had the registry key set for async and it was still bad. We finally simply restarted the ZCM services on the servers and then everything fixed itself and logins were back to normal, well under a minute. In our case they had to reboot the sql database in the middle of the night and I am guessing the the connectors from our zcm servers to the db were messed up.
    Try it,
    zenworks911
    zcm 10.3.3
    AD domain
    edir ldap connector
    sql db
    Novell client too.

  • Slow Performance Weeks after Encryption

I encrypted my organization's laptops several weeks ago and did not return them to users until after I could tell by device performance that the bulk encrypting task had completed. I have two users that are experiencing extremely slow performance on their systems. When the users are typing anything like a Word document, upon each keystroke they see the Windows 7 "circle" icon at the mouse cursor. This seems to come and go several times over the week, and every few days we are getting a request to resolve the issue but after restarting the behavior may not act up anymore.
I found a TID suggesting to change HKLM\SOFTWARE\Novell-FDE\Parameters\ThrottleEncryption to a lower level like Idle or BelowNormal. Is there anything else that I should also try? Thanks!

Yes, but nothing from Novell yet - I will keep pushing them forward and let you know if I get some results.

anything has been figured out or if more info is needed from my side. Hope

    Hi,
We have had (maybe) similar issues with our FDE setup that FDE policy
assigned devices tend to loose the policy and start to do disk decryption
and suddenly get once again the policy back and start to encrypt again. This
could be found from "ZCM agent, Full disk encryption, about, Agents status,
Settings, on section "Emergency Recovery Information" you could see events
'Zone Changed' what according to Novell support meant that the policy was
"re-initialized / changed" even our policy counter have not changed = policy
    got lost in some phase.
We are now suspecting that there is some issues with the policy service that
    plays tricks on us.

In ZCC on the devices that you are having issues with look at the Emergency
Recovery tab and see if you have multiple listings in here that corresponds
to the slowness. If so your devices are decrypting and then re-encrypting.
Your mention of being asked to reboot leads me to believe that is what is
    happening to you.
I have had a few SRs going on this one for a while and it got bumped to
backend but no info in a month or so.

  • Windows XP slow login when plugged into external network

    Hi,
A about 9 months ago XP SP3 was rolled out with an image upgrade, since then there has been rumblings of slow logins when connected to an external network (eg a ADSL modem at home) but no evidence etc.
    About the environment
    Windows XP SP3
    Novell Client 4.91 SP5 IR1
    ZENworks 7
Roaming profiles with folder redirection for Desktop, My Documents.
We have just rolled out another upgrade to a number of base apps and this has come up again but with some evidence and some time for me to investigate.
What I have discovered is this:
When a laptop is plugged into an external network (I have used an ADSL network here at work to test this) the login for a user takes about 2 minutes with SP2 and about 3.5 minutes with SP3. This is done checking the workstation only box.
    This happens consistently on workstations.
What I have done to narrow this down is as follows:
Removed ZENworks 7 agent. Login times improved dramatically
Installed older versions of ZENworks agent, all results the same, extra slow logins experienced with all versions tried.
Installed ZEN agent and removed Novell Client, still the same slow login.
Created a local user, fast logins experienced even with the ZEN agent installed.
Disabled all ZEN services and logged in with an eDir account, slow logins all the same.
Removed all policies from user and workstations, this made a slight difference but nothing much
    Disabled ZEN, no difference either
    Disabled NMAS, no difference either
Removed some IDM installer we had rolled at the same time, no difference.
    Here are the timed results.
XP with SP2 on corporate network = 30 secs
XP with SP3 on corporate network = 35 secs
XP with SP2 WS only ticked and ADSL modem plugged in = 2min
XP with SP3 WS only ticked and ADSL modem plugged in = 3min 26 secs
XP with SP3 WS only ticked and ADSL modem NOT plugged in = 45 secs
XP with SP3 local user with ADSL modem = 45 secs
So it's down to the ZEN agent really, but the update to SP3 hasn't helped either.
I enabled debug logging and got the following from the log, usernames and servers have been removed:

    OK, I'm out of Ideas.
I was hoping for something much bigger :>
You may want to post in the MS Forums in regards to the Timeout in that
    part.
I would not mention ZCM or Client32 as that will just cause pushback.
In short, there appears to be a long timeout for the redirected profile
that extends beyond just client timeout settings.
You may want to post the the Client32 Forum to see if they have anymore
    timeout tweaks.
You may be able to use the "Bad Name Cache" to pre-popate that server so
you can gain the 10 seconds w/o needing to disable the workstation service.
Perhaps the "Give Up on Requests to SAs", but I've never messed with
that before. Wait before giving up on DA may help too.
    Just guessing now.

    Thanks,
    Sandeep

    Hi Sandeep,
The behavior is  a system design to improve system performance.
This happens because the Reporting Framework always displays the Initial
documents only, It does not SORT the document so that the recent
documents can be displayed.During the development of Reporting
Framework, it was decided not to use any sorting as it leads to
    performance issues.
In standard system, we have the following suggestions:
1.Adjust'Time Frame  ' according to your needs (you can use 'time
frame' to narrow the time range as a workround, but still can not list
    the latest one):
2.If it is very important always to select  the latest documents,
you can implement the suggested coding described in the consulting note
1226594, which has the effects on oneorder search based report framework
actually , i.e. it is not a IC specific implementation, and can be adapted for leads.
The note 1226594 cannot be implemented by SNOTE. The note includes an zi
file - where you can find the neccessary coding correction. Please
implement the correction manually as stated in the note.
And please pay attention to implement first the note 1232008, with this
the declaration will be implemented for iv_item and Afterwards please
try to implement the note 1226594.
Additionally, I would like to remind you about note 1226594
    - this note is a consulting note and it will not be in SAP Standard!
    - the change will effects on all one order search as mentioned above;
    - it will slow down the search.
You can also apply the attached note 1573171.
Also, maintain the below entry in SMOFPARSFA table and
    check the system behavior.
For last interaction in IC web client you can add the following.
    Key            : CRMRF
    Parameter Name : IV_SORT_LAST_N
    Param. Name 2  : BTQ1ORDER
    Param Value    : BTQ1ORDER
    Param Value 2  : POSTING_DATE
    I hope this helps.
    Best Regards
    Gavin

  • Clearing Messages - SLOW

Anyone notice that clearing bundle messages is a painfully slow process? There's no progress, just seemingly hangs there, but wait long enough, things will return and show that the messages have been deleted. This seem to happen with one or multiple messages.

I'm also curious to the size of the database and log files.
Also, would be good to know a bit more about your environment(s), like which version of ZCM are you running, where is the database running (physical/virtual), what OS and is it embedded or remote (in the case or Sybase), how many devices are being managed and which management features are in use?

  • ZCM 11.2 Beta Windows 7 with Office 2010 imageing

Hi we are testing the ZCM 11.2 for imaging Windows 7 Clients.
Now we have a nice Bug with the new Image.
Fresh installation Win7 incl. Office 2010 syspreped --> imaged with zcm11.1 everything is normal (of cause image up/download is slow). Imaged with zcm11.2, the hole Office 2010 installation is dead, no Outlook Profile, starting Excel it will reinstall VB for Access, word will reconfig him self....(3rd party imaging tools work also fine). An Office repair fix it, but its not an solution.

    Hi Shaun,
One of my customers experienced the same thing, and when I looked at the image, all the 8.3 folder names have been removed by the imaging engine either during the image capture or during the image restore. Obviously, the issue with this that most applications relying on the PATH variable do not run correctly or do not run at all, as the PATH is full of 8.3 path names, but they cannot be resolved by the OS as they do not exists after the image restore (including the ZCM Agent commands such as zac).
Would you be so kind to put this onto the list of bugs please, as I don't know how to.
The conference calls for ZCM are at 4:30am NZ time and this is too early to attend and anyway they are not the right place to raise individual issues.
    Kind regards,

  • Simple Bundle file copy slow and inconsistent

We are running ZCM 11.2.3a and are experiencing slowness with some bundles.
We have a simple bundle to copy a small file to the workstation.
Sometimes the file copy is abnormally long and other times it's instant for the same bundle.
Any ideas why this would be happening.
    Thanks

Try enabling Debug Logging and ZMD-Message logging to see if that helps.
    Also -
Try setting up a test Location for a Device and only point that location
to Server1 for everything. Then Server 2.....
Look to see if one server is giving u issues.......

  • Novell client still show red "N", does ZCM Agent work ?

    Hi
my customer has some workstation login slow.
User type his username & password and summit it, Novell client show red "N" about 4 ~7 mins...when red "N" disappear, it will login to desktop about 15-20 seconds...
I want to ask...when red "N" icon still show...Whether the Novell client still try to connect to server or not ? and that time, if ZCM Agent (CASA module) still waiting capture username/password or it has capture these infromation to CASA server ??
Because I want to clear if workstation login slow by ZCM agent .

    Hi Shaun
    Thanks For your great reply.
I find a troubleshooting section in ZCM installation Guide , about "Unable to install NetIdentity from Novell Client 32 on a device that has ZENworks installed", the section was be record from 10.1 to 11.1. The Netidentity has a Install-Check action for checking Whether Local_Machine\Software\zenworks exist or not....but ZCM 10.3 or later use Local_Machine\Software\ZCM, not useing "zenworks", so Netidentity could install evenif ZCM agent installed.
I know ZDM agent has some issue with Netidenty...but I do know why ZCM installation still record it....even ZCM11.1 installation Guide. Could you help me clear whether Netidentity agent will effect ZCM Agent or not ?? Because I could not find any document that could provide any message it will effect "ZCM" function
    thanks!!

  • VWP + NB 5.5 is so slow

i have 2 GB of RAM and 3 GHz CPU on windows xp. i tried vwp and nb 5.5 on 3 machines with this configuration. opening a visual web project, opening and closing web pages is so slow. it consumes cpu for minutes. what can i do for this?

    Sakthi,
I finally got a chance to revisit this problem. Sorry for the delay. Yes, the CSS typing lag happens frequently. If you open the project with no pages open then the CSS editor is fast, but once you start opening pages it slows down, especially if those pages have a lot of components. I opened up one page with about 150 components and another with 90 and now every time I type a couple of characters into the CSS editor it hangs for about 8 seconds (I counted). Closing the pages does not help either, I have to restart NetBeans to make it fast again. I tried to recreate this in a brand new project and was unable to. Maybe it has something to do with my project being fairly large (65+ pages)? I've included the thread dump below. When I took this thread dump I had 6 pages open, I then typed aaaaaaaaaaa into the editor and then it hung for 39 seconds. Nothing was added to the IDE log during this delay.
Also, other than the CSS editor and opening pages, I've seen significant slowness when changing the id on components. In Creator, this used to take under a second. Now, it takes between 8-15 seconds regardless of the size of the page. Is it scanning the entire project for places where it needs to rename the component?
    My computer is a Dell GX620 w/ P4 3.2Ghz (HT Enabled), 2GB RAM running XP SP2
