ZCM11.3a FRU1 vs 11.3.1

Hi,
I am busy in a migration process.
2 primary servers with ZCM11.3a and FRU1
and one embedded database on separate SLES server.
Now migrating the bundles from one zone 11.2 to 11.3.
Is it worth to do the upgrade to ZCM11.3.1 ? What are the differences between FRU1 and 11.3.1?
Is it a stable version the 11.3.1?
What are your toughts I should do ..

We did not have this problem with 11.2.4 so we keep the agent on the workstations at that level until Novell have fixed the issue.. We are about to open a SR for the issue soon.

Zcm11 remote control crashes?

We started a ZCM rollout. Currently doing live testing in 1 building. The clients are XP SP3 and server is ZCM11 on OES Linux. I have noticed a problem with remote control after remoting into a workstation and logging on to the workstation i loose connection of remote (it just sits there, it doesn't kick me out or close). if I close it and try to reconnect I am unable to establish a new session. however the computer is on and running. from observation it appears as those the ZCM client is crashing after login (icon disapppears from the task tray). but no errors are logged. a reboot of the workstation renables remote control but that is not a solution as it requires someone onsite.
Has anyone else experienced this or have any troubleshooting tips?

Data Collection Form broken in ZCM 11.3.1 FRU1?

Hello Forum!
We just installed the 11.3.1 FRU1 for fixing BUG 888008 - "User login force run bundles do not run after device". Server installation didn't cause any trouble and the bug is fixed. We are happy so far.
While testing the new agent on some machines we recognized that the data collection form won't open when the user chooses the menu item on the taskbar agent icon. Unfortunatelly our users have to enter some inventory data there regulary and we can't install the new agent until this is fixed again.
So maybe we have to wait for 11.3.2 ?!? Is anybody out there with same problem?

i'll try to login in ZCC

in my country, much people use 3.5G for mobile access. but the 3.5G will cause many security issue. Does the ZCM11 could complete block 3.5G card work ? besides 3.5G...like Wimax or LTE...Do these devices also block or maybe in the future ?

But I think this could be done with a USB Connectivity Policy and/or with Communication Hardware Policy...

11.3.1 FRU1 zenworkswindowsservice.exe high cpu after login

Hi,
I just upgraded the primary & all satellites from 11.3.1 to 11.3.1 FRU1.
With the client upgrades everything goes fine. 11.3.1 to 11.3.1 FRU1 via assignment via ZCC.
After that we changed the client in the add on of the image.
When we restore a new image with that new Agent. The zenworkswindowsservice.exe goes to 60 % CPU when you login the first time with the user. User is created via a DLU.
It stops after you reboot the system... then everything is fine.
So next thing I did restore a new image with the old agent 11.3.1 , login with the same user again. Here there is no issue..
Is this a know issue in the ZEnworks 11.3.1 FRU1 agent?

This key should not be harmful and may even be generally beneficial.
By Default, ZCM restarts the Explorer.exe process after applying a GPO.
In General, this causes no harm but we are unsure of why this was initially done.
It may simply be legacy behavior.
Since it generally causes no harm, it is simply retained as default behavior.
It most commonly causes issues on Terminal Servers where sometimes Explorer.exe does not come back, though even here very few customers have seen this.
Feel free to try disabling the Explorer.exe restart function.
I have never heard of any reports where doing so had a negative impact, even with GPOs in place.

I have done the registry settings but without success the same issue occurs:
First I have set the registry, then reboot the pc because it is a HKLM value. Login first time as the user and the high load occurs again.
As I already told, after logging in as the user to high load appears and I had to reboot to make the issue go away. Today I noticed that without rebooting the high load stops after 39 minutes.
Do you know what could cause this?
It is strange that we do not have this issue with the previous version of the client (11.3.1)...

How to install Office 2010 in ZCM11

I would like to know how i can install Office 2010 with ZCM11. In Office2010
no MSI files are available for the installation. The procedure must be
running with exe and xml config files.

Ramon,
I can't answer for ZCM11, but I can only assume that the process has not changed significantly from ZCM 10.3.x.
You've got several options at your disposal.
The way we do things in our environment is to use a copy files action (or a file copy utility that shows a progress bar, since a copy files action has no progress indicator) to copy the files locally to the workstation to a staging area, where they are then launched as a dynamic administrator/system account.
I'd say use an install files or install directory action, but my experience in the past has been that install directory ends up losing track of the directory structure, so it only works well for a single directory with no subdirectories.
Plus, every time you throw a new update MSP file into the "updates" folder within the network deployment folder for Office 2010, you'd need to re-upload to the repository whereas when you copy from a network share you can simply throw a new update into the folder and be done with it.

Install Second Primary Server in a 11.3.1 FRU1 zone

Hi I'm having a weird problem with installing a second PS in to a upgraded singel PS zone. I just got the singel server upgraded to 11.3.1 FRU1/SLES11.3 and database on MSSQL 2012.
That is working great, no issues with the singel server.
But when I try to install the new server as a PS to the existing zone I get this error, "This version of ZENworks is not compatible with the version (10.3.0) found in the zone"...10.3.0 ???
I tried to look for any clueds in the ZenServerVersion.xml file after finding TID7014023, https://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7014023. The file says 11.3.1 in the file.
Why do I get the 10.3.0. message and how can I correct this?
Any Ideas?

Upgrade scenario order SP1 for SLES11 and ZCM11

Hello,
At the moment we have:
SLES 11.0 with ZCM 10.3.0 (2x primary, 1x external sybase db, 1x sattelite img)
When ZCM11 is public we want to upgrade.
What is the best order to upgrade?
1. First upgrade all the servers to SLES 11 SP1 and then inplance to ZCM11, or
2. First upgrade all the servers to ZCM 11 and then upgrade SLES 11 to SP1.
I hope someone call tell me what's the best supported upgrade scenario.

SLES 11 SP1 is not supported in 10.3.0, Hence for any supported
configuration you would need to update to ZCM 11.0 (or 10.3.1) prior to
updating to SLES 11 SP1.

Imaging and deploying Win 7 using ZCM11 RC3

How do I use ZCM11 RC3 to image and deploy Win 7 over my network?
I have just installed ZCM11 on our servers here and have done the discovery and inventory process. I am new to ZCM and am not sure how to do the imaging? Nothing seems to happen when I select a workstation and choose it for imaging. Also wondering, where I could find some best practices that would help in the roll-out.

As far as I know it's very tricky and maybe even not possible to do imaging without disabling firewall. What you could do is have a separate ZCM server that only does imaging..
If you run ZCM on linux then you might be able to mount a samba share or a different HD under /var/opt/novell/zenworks/content-repo/images/yoursmbshareorharddisk.
Use sysprep to create a "base" image and then use addon images that apply computer specific drivers.

Implementing local user security with ZCM11

Hi all
we have been a very traditional NetWare-Company neglecting all local user security (on windows) as we always tried to force the users not to save any data on local drives (but only on our NetWare- or OES-drives). So all of our users work on the local windows Administrator-account without any password.
With a new IT-Management in place, this has to change. The new management wants to make sure laptops can't be used when stolen.
So we have the following requirements to implement:
1) local user account with central policies in place
2) the local user account has to be single sign on with NDS (only one password to enter for local user account and nds login)
3) user roaming (user should be able to change physical machine and get the same environment)
So far, we have used ZCM 11 primarily for software deployment. We are on ZCM 11.2.4.
I do have an idea how to implement Point 1) and 3), but i am unsure which way to go for the SSO part (Point 2)
hopefully, someone can point me in the right direction.

I believe the DLU policy is what you are looking for in Point 2). Then
the user can login to the workstation with the same credentials as they
have in NDS.

ZCM11 SP2 Beta 1 - 32- vs 64-bit Mac agent

So I have an iMac (4,1) running Snow Leopard.
I tried installing the 32-bit Mac agent and it complained
Package intended for 32 bit architecture
Exiting with error code 237.
so I installed the 64-bit agent - it was happy.
I then logged out and back in to activate the agent but it isn't happy -
I get a ZENworks Adaptive Agent dialog popup with the error "Cannot load
64-bit SWT libraries on 32-bit JVM".

Zcm11 reporting server infoview error

ZCM 11 on Suse 11 x64. when I open the ZRS InfoView window and try to run a canned or custom report it always returns "Cannot initialize Report Engine server. (Error: RWI 00226) (Error: INF )"
I can run the canned reports from inside ZCM console.
This old post in another forum seems to indicate part of teh server may not be running but I don't know where/what to check. Could not initialize Report Engine server.(Error: RWI 00226)

Oddly our 11.3.1 seems to work with the Login Bundles, was expecting
problems but each time I've tried everything launches as expected so
looks like we've escaped it somehow
