Zen 16GB not seen on certain po

My player wasn't being recognized, on a port on the back of my computer, this is one of the "powered" ports which would enable me to charge at night and not have to have my computer running, oddly enough the external ports on top of my case do recognize it. I'm just curious if anyone might know what would make one port recognize it and another not. I'm not speaking if hubs either, the one I know of(so far) that doesn't see it is direct off of the motherboard on the back of my computer. Luckily I can see it on other ports so I'm ok but... I'd like to figure it out. All of my usb controllers in Device Manger are good and have the latest drivers.

That would be a computer issue not a mp3 player issue. ask in the thread for computers. Better chance of getting a answer.

Zen Touch - not seen, can't load hardware, e

Hi,
I just got the 40GB Zen Touch this afternoon. I loaded the software from the CD, rebooted, then went to Nomad Explorer, all ready to start moving music. Not only did Explorer not see it, when I tried to install updated files from the Creative site, they couldn't see it, either....and the hardware wizard can't find a driver on the CD, PC or Internet.
Is there a site that has step-by-step instructions for Portable MP3 player dummies? I'm new at putting tunes on these, so I'm not sure what program to use in order to accomplish that.
I also have MusicMatch, but it won't even show an opportunity to save to the "portable device".
I did unplug the other USB devices, but that didn't help.
Please... I just want to put some tunes on it and go on about my merry way.... I need some help from someone who knows about this.

Allrighty. Thus far, I've:
. Reset the player and run a disk cleanup.3. Try the player on ALL your USB ports and make sure you aren't using a hub.- don't have a hub- it WAS making the "new USB device added/removed" sound in a .0 port, then I tried it in a 2.0 port, and it made the same sound(s). Then, I put it back in the .0 port - and no noise. I put it back in the 2.0 port, and it mad the noise. (However, normally, it makes a 2-note sound when I add/remove. Now, it makes 2 notes ONLY when I remove, and one note when I add.)- In DEVICE MGR, it's got the yellow ? by it
5. In Device Manager with the Zen connected delete it from the device listing. Physically disconnect the Zen from the USB cable, reset it, then reconnect to the PC to see if it is detected properly.
7. Try a replacement USB cable (ideal if you can borrow one from somewhere, or if you have another USB device that uses the same cable).
9. Make sure the player isn't locked.

I'm thinking that if the player isn't seen, I can't install updated anything on it, correct?

New Zen MicroPhoto not seen by XP or Vi

I'm a total newbie to Creative MP3 players. Just got one yesterday from Electronica Direct via Amazon's store. Running Vista on an HP Pavilian dual core (just 3 months old so very new cutting edge hardware) and running XP on a 5 year old Sony Vaio laptop. Both have latest MS service paks and security fixes.
Also, I appear to be running latest Creative stuff since when I check for updates it reports it doesn't find any. The Zen MicroPhoto Media Explorer reports v5.0.2 and:
Creative Import Wizard File (Version .0.25.0)
Creative Audio CD Ripper (Version 5.00.20)
Creative Sync Manager (Version 5.20.09)
Creative Playlist Wizard (Version 3..5.0)
PIM Editor (Version .3.0.0)
Creative Media Explorer reports on both PCs when Zen MicroPhoto plugged into USB:
"Your player is not connected. Please connect your Zen MicroPhoto to the computer."
I can play the music that comes with the Zen. I have used the supplied cable to plug into various USB ports on both PCs. Each time the Creative Media Explorer reports it doesn't see anything.
Under System info the MicroPhoto reports it is version .20.0.
If I unplug the USB plug from the MicroPhoto and then plug it in the MicroPhoto starts itself up. So does that mean it is seeing something electrically from the PC?
In both XP and Vista if I try to close the Zen MicroPhoto Media Explorer clicking on the red X does not close it.
In the HP Vista Device Manager under Portable Devices I only see:
USB CF Reader
USB MS Reader
USB SD Reader
USB SM Reader
Right clicking and doing "Scan for hardware changes" does not help.
In the HP Vista Device Manager under "Uni'versal Serial Bus controllers" I see Intel chips, a USB Mass Storage Device and a bunch of USB Root Hub entries. No Creative device. Also, doing "Scan for hardware changes" does not help in this category either.
Similarly, I do not see the Zen MicroPhoto in the XP Vaio's Device Manager. The Vaio XP Device Manager does not show a "Portable Devices" entry in the main list.
Also, the Vaio's original USB ports are v.. If plug into one of them I can power up the MicroPhoto. The Vaio also has PCMCIA USB 2.0 extender ports and they appear not to provide enough power to start up the MicroPhoto. Does the MicroPhoto need USB 2.0?
I am open to suggestions for things to try...

Bump... I am having issues with duplicate tracks and allt he other crap that goes with mediasource...any help to get my explorer back would be appreciated.

MacBook Pro 17" - Airport card not seen with certain OS

I know this isn't supported but ...
I've had to install 2 systems on my MBP to be able to use Airport.
If I use the install disks that came with the machine - 10.4.8 - then I can see the Airport card and I can connnect OK.
I also want to use the machine as a Portable Netboot server so have got Server version 10.4.7 for Intel. The system runs fine but there is no info on the Airport card and therefore no Airport connection possible, I have tried to do the 10.4.8 update (thinking newer drivers may fix the Airport issue...), but as soon as it reboots and goes thru its startup, it doesn't get to login window and just shuts down.
I can run it in 10.4.7 Server but it would have been nice to have 1 OS not 2 ...
Any suggestions ?

0New Zen trouble adding a memory card (not seen)?8I have a new zen 4gb unit and love it, saw it has a memory card slot so i stuck an 8gb sdhc sandisk 3 extreme memory card in there, figured I could dump more fun stuff in there on it but when i use the zen explorer i don't see that card.
I formatted the sdhc card in fat 32 and named it sd4zen yet when its in the zen and i check my computer I am not seeing the card in the windows menus to drag stuff over onto for the zen nor is it showing in any of the zen media explorer areas.
Do i need to dump stuff onto the memory card externally (thru a card reader first) then insert it and access that thru the memory part of the zen menu, or are the zens not able to read from an sdhc sd card or is 8 gb too big (compatability)?

I am a dork, a few mins messing with it i realized in the main menu of the zen with the card inserted hit removable disk and hook up via usb, now my computer sees the sd4zen dri've and i can dump more fun stuff for zen on there...
Sorry to take up space maybe someone will read this and help them with the same issue i was having or mods if you choose just delete.

As said in subject, I am having a hard time with my Creative Zen 6 GB player. While charging thru USB Port of My PC, there is no display on screen, not even battery charging indicator.
I thought of running auto recovery tool and firmware upgrade but since battery is completely drained out, I not able to get it detected on the PC.
I found many questions with similar problem but couldnt find any for ZEN.
Please HELP

Are you sure you can't find your zen in the system manager; if you can find the zen in the system manager then try the following:
Try again with the Zen mp3-player attached to the pc via usb connector, but this time go to control panel, then go to system, then you are in "system properties", then go to tab "hardware" and go finally to "system manager" ; from here try to find your zen; see whether the zen got an exclamation mark (!) in the system manager; if it does, then try to reinstall the zen mtp driver manually (if I am right you do not need any install disc, the driver should already be on your current windows xp/vista installation); do not let the windows to connect with windows update when trying to update the driver >> choose "no", then click "next", after that choose "install driver/software automatically (recommended)". If the reinstallation of the mtp driver is successfull your zen should be detected by Windows and it can be charged and/or you can transfer songs, video etc. again.
But if this method does not work, then try to hook your zen up to an other pc and see whether it can be detected by this other pc.
If your zen can not be detected by the other pc, then your zen may be defecti've. Then it's time for RMA.

MY CREATIVE ZEN M NOT DETECED BY WINDOWS OR ZEN ME

HELLO, i have a serious situation here. i had my zen for about 3 months and i love it. but about 2 weeks ago, i wanted to transfer new music and video to my player. i noticed at first that not all my music shows in my zen media or my windows media. i do have all the componets to my cpu. i have windows xp serivce pak 2 and i have windows media 0. well n-e way, i also have real player. i pulled real player and i noticed that every piece of music and video i have was there. so i decided to sync it to my device using real. at first it transferred, so of course i get ready for bed and i noticed it was taking a while. so i figured when i get up it will be done. well it wasn't, it only transferred four songs and it downloaded everything from my cpu to my device. i had folders in there that i never seen. so i figured let me delete everything and start over, but using windows media. when i did that, it tells me that windows media player does not detect a portabel device, connect your device, and then try again. so i clicked on the web help option that comes with that error to see if they can give me some info. it gives me a code c00d79 and that is the reason why it is not connecting. so i searched the internet to see if i can anything comes under this code, join discussions and also email creative. alot of info i have found in the codes, but not this paritcular one. then i called dell techincal support because that is where i purshaced my zen. they couldn't help me. so today i went to the knowledge support and i found info on the same problem that i am experiencing. so i did everything. checked the device manager. my comp reads that the zen is there, but windows and media doesn't. so i did the back up regristy and also for the usb, still nothing. so it says to contact tech support and of course, there is none, unless u pay a fee. i work long hours and the hours are impossible for me to contact. the only way is if they work weekends and they dont. i am lost at this point. it will be 3 weeks exactly tomorrow that my zen is not working. i can not go another day without my device. i am starting to think i need to return my device for a new one. this is my last option. PLEASE HELP ME!!

Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra not recognized by FW updater

Hi, after searching for similar problems on this forum i decided to ask directly.
The box were i plug the NJBZXtra has XP SP3 and WMP 0. It has also the latest drivers for the MTP. WMP sees only 20 megs of the 30Gigs the Zen has and the FW updater (the non-p4s) wont realize its there, ready to receive an OS upgrade. I boot it in recovery mode, select Reload OS and start the updater, but nothing happens.
Am i missing something? The battery is full, the power cord is on and MediaSource is properly installed.

I tried to update the Firmware on my Zen Xtra. The update got to the first Zen reboot and then bummed out. The Zen starts in rescue mode and try as I might to follow the steps above and re run the firmware upgrade I cannot get the Zen to be seen.Being stupid I did this twice ( I have 2 Zens) have I now got 2 bricks? are there any other options?My Zen is recognised by the computer as an MTP device of 20mb but the firmware update program says it's not connected.Help

Ipod not seen by windows or itunes

Hello, I'm totally frustrated and have been searching for hours. Please someone help.
- Nano 8 gb
- Windows xp
Neither Windows (my computer) nor Itunes sees my ipod. Ipod is working fine: did the menu/select thing, cable is good.
When I plug the ipod in the usb port I hear a bleep and I get a message bottom right "new hardware found ipod"and the icon is a usb cable. Ipod is not in My computer window. Ipod is not seen by Itunes
Tried Device Manager/I see Ipod with a ? Yellow. If i right click on it and do update driver the ms computer management system crashes and sends error report.
I tried dowloading the USB driver and placing it in the directory, but I got stuck because there is no windows/inf directory. I tried to update the usb driver with the same ms crash.
I'm completely frustrated, please can someone help me.

I was having the same problem the other day. I'm not sure what it was but I think it has something to do with the i tunes and i pod 1.2 update.
What I did was:
1. Uninstall i tunes
2. Restart my computer
3. pluged my ipod in a slow usb line
4. waited until my pc recognized it in there. It took a little while.
5. re installed i tunes from apple.com
6. waited until i tunes recognized my ipod
7. updated my i pod with my library it took a long time because i was in the slow usb plug.
8. re plugged my ipod into a 2.0 usb line
9. i tunes recognized it.
10. I then updated my ipod to the new 1.2 version
11. The problem started happening again
12 I repeated what I did before and now it is working.
It was very frustrating! I hope it works for you.1

5th Gen IPOD - Won't Sync and Not Seen by Windows

Help!!!
Tried the 5 R's. I have the IPOD in Disk Mode but whilst it will happily charge, it still is not seen by ITunes or Windows Explorer (though is visible inDisk Defragmenter). I have already un-installed and re-installed ITunes etc.
Prior to putting it into Disk Mode the IPOD still had my library on it and owuld happily work.

Have you had a chance to look at these troubleshooting pages? They may be of some help:

IPod touch: Seen by XP, not seen on OSX.

Strange one.
1st Gen ipod Touch with latest software(think its 3.3), latest version of itunes.
Its seen and works perfect with Windows XP.
I plug it into my Mac Book Pro, running Lion and its not seen. nothing happens wihen i plug it in.
I have reset, restored and wiped the ipod from the device itself and its still not seen.
I also tried it on a Win 7 machine and its NOT seen either.
Is this something crazy to do with 32bit architecture. Its seen on Win XP which is 32 but not by 64bit Lion and Win 7.
Any suggestions?

Just guessing at what you mean, try this:
In Mail, while composing a message, go to Mail's menu and click:
Edit > Attachments > Always send Windows-friendly attachments

Data of measure is not seen in webi report when drill is disabled

i have created a hierarchy in universe on which i drill down in webi reports
the problem is that i have drilled my report till the last level and saved it
the object on which im drilling is set as a section in the report
so i have added a measure in the table under that section
now the measure has different value at different level of drillings
i.e for the last level of the drill i use one measure and after that as i drill up i use different measure
for all other level of drilling
every thing is working fine but the problem is
when i open report in view mode
the measure data is not seen
only when i enable drill the measure data is seen
i have done something like thi
i have used drillfilters in webi reports for checking which level we are in drill mode so as to display the measure value based on drill level

Seems like DrillFilters needs the drillmode to work fine..
why don't save the report with the drill button enabled?
