ZEN 2GB driver with vi

I purchased a ZEN MP3 Player 2GB, using windows vista home basic and cannot install the driver for this device on my computer. I have tried many times to install it but all attempt had the same result with the message on my display that the driver cannot be found, please contact creative.
I am not talking about the software which comes on a CD, I am talking about once I plug in the device my computer with windows vista home basic simply is unable to find the driver or whatsoever. Once I have contacted the local dealer and they recommended that I should download the latest firmware for my device which I did but the result was the same because to install the firmware you need to plug in your device but since my device cannot be installed the firmware does not recognise any device and cannot be installed. After that the local dealer changed the device for me but nevertheless the new device cannot be installed as well. Is there anyone who can help me out with this problem
It is kind of frustrating if you buy a Christmas present for your partner and it cannot be used even you install, uninstall, install, uninstall the whole thing a several times.
Thanks, your help is appreciated here

I have got my Zen Stone Plus working like this: I plugged the Zen in and waited for Vista to do its stuff, then when the installed failed I was able to use the browse function it offered, when you don't have a disk, I just put c:/ and let Vista search my hard drive. Vista was able to find the drivers and complete the install. If I look in devise manager it now has the same drivers and route as stormy3 (see other post) Working fine now.

  • Nomad jukebox zen xtra driver for use with Vista 32 b

    Hi,
I just registered in an attempt to find a solution to using my Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra player with Windows Vista 32 bit operating system. Unfortunately, my old computer died and all was lost so when I purchased a new computer I naturally went with the most recent operating system, it never occured to me that my wonderful MP3 player would be considered obsolete (my various printers are all much older than my mp3 player and they all work just fine, my multiple?digital cameras too) anyway, I am running around in circles and I would not consider myself highly technical. I cannot download the latest creative firmware because without a driver my device is not recognized, and thus, creative will not complete the download since my device is not recognized...... when I go to microsoft to look for "nati've drivers" as suggested by Creative somewhere in the maze I have been stumbling through, the link I found in a search on Microsoft's website sends me to a creative labs link that...interestingly....no longer exists.... I sent an email to customer support, but they happily sent me a form letter stating that my warranty is out of date so they have no assistance to offer unless I pay for a half hour of their time in advance, and I find it odd that I should pay money to risk being told that they have chosen not to support this device, because if I pay money to hear that I will immediately hate this company, and I don't want to throw in the towel just yet, anyway, another option stated in the form letter was to use this forum, so I am trying really hard to state the circumstances of my dilemma in a fair and open way. It seems to me that with all the energy that was put into that form letter, they could have written a letter that would address this issue directly as I cannot fathome that I am the only one with this problem. So, per the suggestion of the form letter, I am here to ask if anyone knows of a solution to making a Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra work with Windows Vista 32 bit operating system.....if there is none, then at least I will hear about it without paying Creative money to tell me so. If I should post my request to a different thread/topic area?on the forum, that information would be greatly appreciated too as I have never used a forum before and alot of the information on this site is more technical than I am used to. Thank you to anyone that can offer some guidance or a clear solution. Signed by a baffled Creative customer....Dani

Try reading this thread. I had the same problem and the solution worked for me. http://forums.creative.com/creativel...a&message.id=7?

  • Bought a 2GB Zen, not working with Vista X64

    Hi guys,
I'm having major troubles here, I can't seem to sync it with Vista X64 no matter what methods I tried, its the 2GB version with the 2.5inch screen.
I can't even transfer songs since the media center kept saying no player connected.
What is the problem here exactly? I didn't just pay $00+ for a useless product didn't I?

What program are you trying to sync with? Can you find the player in Device Manager? If so what does it report about it's status?

  • Disk Full on Zen 2GB with 1,70GB of space le

    Hey everyone,
I have a Zen 2GB and when I try to rip songs of a cd onto my Zen, it says the disk is full and I should make more room on my computer(?).
In the Creative Audio CD ripper I did not select the option to rip the files to my computer and on my Zen is still ,7 GB left!
I searched the forums, but couldn't find a solution there.
I also tried a full format, a reset of the settings and a firmware upgrade, but nothing seems to work..
Please help me out, all suggestions are welcome!
    Thanks.

    Nope, that didn't work either..
It is also quite strange that the cd ripper talks about "Computer" as the location being full. The only option checked is to copy the ripped music to the Zen music device and NOT to the computer (eitherway; there is also plenty of space on my computer).
I completely removed and reinstalled the Creative software, but that also didn't help...

  • Zen 2GB Battery Issue - Please help!

$? I bought two Creative Zen 2GB as their battery life is up to 30 hours. I have a Microsoft Zune and it gets the 4 hours listed but both of the Zen's only get 0- hours per full charge. I fully charge, then run the recovery tool and run disk clean up, format, new firmware. I then add all mp3's at 28 bitrate, EQ off, bass off and keep the volume on 3. In the setup I the brightness down as far as it will go at 0%, I think you should be able to set it to 0%. But what am I missing to only get 0-2 hour max on these two new units? I recently read about Idle shutdown, but yesterday I charged the Zen 8 hours to be sure, then with all the optimal settings I cut it on at 0pm and let it run througout the night and at 9am it had very little charge left...please help with any ideas/suggestions as I just get links from Creative tech telling me things I am already doing.

Excellent, thanks for the replies and I read about the lock function online but it said for 4GB and up I think, but not 2GB. I thought, even with the screen at the lowest, 0% that it was too much lcd and a battery drainer...thanks!
Yes, I have the 2G ZEN player and it does have the "lock function" (often on the Creative's web site they neglect to mention the 2G) - I "lock it" every time I listen to my audio books. By using this function it "closes" (blackens) ?the LCD screen and saves the battery considerably.
When I first bought this player it was the first time I had an internal battery, all the other ones I had used -AAA battery. I was hesitant about using the type of battery in the ZEN player but I can listen ALL day and ALL night and still have battery life left. Then I recharge the battery in the wee hours of the morning, ready to listen to more books and music that day.

  • My Zen 2gb wont even start up anymore

Hello,?When i inserted my Creative Zen 2GB and was planning on removing some music from it..i picked out the music folders and pressed <delete>, so it started deleting, but at some point it didn't go on for 0 minutes so i did?<ctrl> + <alt> + <delete> and i closed down the process manually. Then i pulled out my Creative Zen and it did NOT go to its menu's again it kept saying? <Connected> (with the PC). Then i tried to plug it back in and again and again but it had no result, it kept saying <connected>.After i while i quited trying and was looking at my Zen when i saw the <reset> button on the side. I pressed this with a blunt needle and the sreen went black...and now i cant Boot it up or do anything with it, when i plug it into my PC i DO here a sound that something got connected but my Zen's sreen doesn't light up. So please, does anyone have ANY suggesting on how to solve this problem?Should i get it repaired or...
    Please help,?Mark

I Tried now, but it seems my Zen doesn't work anymore, because if i try to turn it on, on the side, the blue light doesn't pop on :S..and there is no-way i can get to the battery because this Zen doesn't contain any screws..so i cant check if that is the problem.

  • Zen 2gb and audio book chapters and bookma

    Hello,
Right now I have a Zen Stone which I use mainly to download audio books and which I have outgrown. It was a good, cheap starter mp3, but now I want something better. (The tech upgrade?bug strikes again, I guess.) The main peeeve I have with the Zen Stone is that I cannot bookmark where I stopped in a book's chapter. Books download in sections whcih contain more that one actual chapte, so, when I have to recharge the battery, the Stone restarts at the last section, not where I quit to recharge. Thus, I have to re-listen to old material. Also, since there is no screen, I can't see where and what section/chapter I am anyway.
Will a better model Zen allow me to save and bookmark where I am in a book so that i can restart anywhere without going back over old material? Will I be able to see sections nad chapter headings (section 4, chapter6, e.g.) on the screen.
Any help appreciated. I am fairly new to mp3-land, but not to computers. Thanks

I can tell you that the Zen 2gb is not as great with audio books as it ought to be.
Audible?format audio books have chapter markings that the Zen can see. Overdri've?Media files?do not.
Yes, you can bookmark. However, when you go to the bookmark, the player does not remember that the bookmarked file was part of a playlist. Therefore, it loads only the one file and stops playing when it gets to the end. At that point you have to go back through the main menu to reload your playlist.
The "resume" function would make the bookmark problem less annoying, if it worked properly. The player will remember where you stopped and begin there the next time you turn the player on, unless you wait more than 2 hours. In that case, it starts at the beginning of the track and you have to FF till you find your place (hopefully you remembered to note the timer position before shutting down). This is the method I've settled on, because although I have to FF to my place every morning and evening, at least I don't have to keep reloading playlist.
Interestingly, although you can't bookmark videos on the Zen, you don't need to, because it remembers where you left off playing it no matter how long you wait, and even after synching.

  • Zen 2GB - a blue light is flicker

    Hello,
first of all, please excuse my bad english. Unfortunately there is no german board.
I've bought an Zen 2GB and have watched the following: Sometimes the screen flickers in a blue light and turns off after about one second. Remarkable is, that when it happens the player is not in use, for example the player is laying on the table and is turned off. This flickering effect also happens, when I plug in an earphone. But it doesn't happen with every earphone (only some models, I've tested) and only in about 80 percent of the times, when I plug it in.
Recently I've exchanged the player at my local dealer. But the new one still shows the same effect.
My question now: Has anyone made the same experience with his Zen and is the Zen not ok?
I would be glad for your answers.
    Bernd

I also encountered this same behavior when using a different headphone for my ZEN 4GB...sometimes it restarts, sometimes it totally hangs up..leaving only the blue light on... I cannot turn it off... I have to do a reset on the thing which forced me to bring along a hair pin everyday... I think it has something to do with the antenna incorporated in the headphone slot...any other idea what's causing this?Message Edited by daywalkerz on 02-2-200809:4 PM

  • Zen 2gb and Vongo

Is it possible to use the Zen 2gb and Vongo downloads, in other words are the Vongo downloads too big in file size to be viewed or do I need a larger size player or a SD card to upload them to?
If its not possible to do this then why do they advertise Vongo with these players with smaller flash dri'ves?

I can tell you that the Zen 2gb is not as great with audio books as it ought to be.

  • Thump / Pop noise when switching on / off Zen Stone Plus with Spea

    Hello,
I just bought a 2Gb Zen Stone Plus with Speaker and I was disappointed by a very loud thump occurring when turning on/off the player. Moreover, starting with the player switched off, it is sufficient to press the on button (not necessarily until switching on completes) and the thump is there... each time I press the button! It is like an electrostatic discharge.
The thump is quite dangerous for my ears (for instance using high quality in-ear monitors) and for my 2. speakers system.
Is that normal? Should I return it's

Are you sure this isn't normal?
I hear a sort of electronic cracking sound in my right ear, quite loud and lower volume pop in my left ear after that when turning on the player. I also thought it was just cheap electronics.
I don't want to go trough the trouble of contacting the vendor for an exchange if a new one has the same thing.

  • Is zen mosiac compaible with MACBOOK????? HELP!!!!!!!!

6is zen mosiac compaible with MACBOOK?? HELP!!!!!
    !!! I am a very uphappy and dis-satisfied user of creative mp3!!!!
!!! I used to love creative mp3 since I started using it when I was 7, using muvo tx 52mb. even when the battery holder rusted, the blue paint of the player came off, it remain a good player witht he ability to play songs.
I bought a player just August 2008 when zen stone was having a promotion at a price I cannot remember, it also comes with a free travel speaker. However, it has since given me? a lot of problems resulting in the replacement of the same zen stone player after sending the player for checks at the service for FOUR TIMES. And the irony is, the replaced player continues to give me the same old problem. And so creative decided to replace it with zen mosiac.
I have yet had the chance to use zen mosiac because the person forgot to pass me a device driver required to operate zen mosiac. And so I have tomake another trip to creative store at PS to pick it up, only to realize it is not compatible with MACBOOK. Imagine my anger, disappointment, disgust and any negati've thoughts you can conjure up.
I am angry because the replaced payer has failed me. I am upset because creative players have been known for its user-friendliness. Creative mp3 has been known to be a plug and play device. I have no idea why it has since changed and stopped being a plug and play device. And it should have been more clear in stating that it is not compatible with MACBOOK!
!!! I am a MACBOOK user yet I chose to support creative products is evidence of my confidence of creative mp3 until it starts failing me miseraly.
I am hoping for creative support team to contact me asap to rectify this problem, because I have no wish to buy a white elephant!

I am replying your message from home.)
I was not asking you to disclose your hp no. here of course. You can send me a Private Message. May I know if that is your email address you use to contact support? I will need that to retrieve your customer info.

  • I have replaced my old hard drive with a new SSD drive. Can I restore a complete Time Machine backup

I have replaced my old hard drive on a MacBook Pro midyear 2010 with a new SSD drive. I have a complete system backup of my old drive in an external hard drive using Time Machine.
Questions that I would like to get answered.
    1) Can I connect my external hard drive to the macbook pro and use that to boot up my machine by pressing and holding down the Options key? Once booted up successfully, can I use Disk Utility to format the new SSD and then restore the complete time machine backup?
    2) If that is not possible, can I use my old drive which I can connect using a USB adapter and use that to boot up by following the same strategy as listed in Step#1 above?
    3) If neither options are possible, do I need to use a bootable USB drive for Mavericks OS X to boot up the machine,
I have Mavericks OS X ( 10.9.6) and I do not have a DVD of the OS.
    Any help is appreciated.

Let me first document the steps that did not work and then I will document the steps that worked.
    1) Replaced the hard drive with SSD.
    2) Connected the original hard drive using a USB adapter to the MacBook to make it behave like an external device.
    3) Powered on the machine and on hearing the chime pressed Command-R to start in recovery mode.
    4) Chose the Disk Utility option to erase and format the SSD. The format chosen was Mac OS Extended Journaled.
    5) Once the formatting was done, then clicked on the "Restore" tab in Disk Utility
    6) In the Source field, dragged my original hard drive from the left pane and placed it in the field
    7) On the destination field, choose the new SSD drive. Clicked on "Restore". Gave me a warning, accepted the warning and the restore was under way.
    8) I had 236 GB to restore so took 3.5 hours before it was done.
    9) Disconnected the external hard drive ( my original internal HDD), shut down the machine and powered on again.
    10) Heard the chime and after that it was a white screen with no Apple logo.
Was visibly upset and started thinking what my next move will be. Then tried these steps
    1) Again powered off the machine.
    2) Connected my internal HDD once more as an external drive
    3) Powered on and on hearing the chime, pressed Command-R as before
    4) Once the OS X utilities screen popped up, this time chose Install OS X
    5) Erased the contents of SSD once more and reformatted it using Mac OS Extended Journaled.
    6) Installed OS X by following the prompts.
    7) Once the OS was installed, I was presented with an option on how to transfer data to this new Mac
    8) Chose the option to move the data from my original HDD.
    9) Took another 3 hours to move the data.
    10) Removed the original HDD once the transfer was complete, powered down the machine and started it once more.
    11) Booted successfully and all my content is now accessible on the new SSD.
Moral of the story - It is the spirit that counts.

  • I want to know if I can backup my Ipad to an external harddrive. I have a pc with xp pro media edition and a partitioned hard drive with very little space on C and lots on D. I am trying to update my Ipad to 5.1.1 and it says it needs 12  gb to backup.

I have a Sony Vaio desktop PC with a partitioned hard drive, running Windows XP Pro. There is 13 gb on C drive with the OS, and 140 gb left on D drive. I am  trying to update my Original Ipad from 4.3.4 to 5.1.1 and because C drive is full ( I have moved everything that can be moved to D drive) mostly from Microsoft updates over the years, I am unable to do  the backup Itunes is telling me I have to do to update or lose all media on this iPad. 12.67 gb is required to do the backup and I have a whopping 965.2 MB.  I can not get the cloud to use as backup as it requires 5.0 or better. Does anyone know if I can back up to D drive,  and if so how? Also, I have a 1 terrabyte WD mini external hard drive I just got as a gift...could I do the backup to it and, again, if so, how? Please explain from start to finish, as my brain is now fried from, first from finally getting Itunes updated to 10.6 ,and now trying to do this update. Thanks to anyone for their help!!

iOS device backups are stored in your iTunes library.

Looks liker the hard drive in my five year old iMac is about to go belly up. Was getting hardware errors, very slow startup and Carbon Copy Cloner reported bad blocks during the backup. I want to buy a new HD at a local store and have the Apple store install it. Will they do that and can I use a SATA 3 drive with my older iMac?

YEs you can use a SATA III drive but the Apple Store will not install it for you. Find an AASP and see if they'll install a drive for you.
