ZEN 2GB hangs after starting

I reset it and it goes right back and hangs anytime you try to play anything. I am running the firmware upgrade but its been running for 20 plus minutes and has not completed. Any ideas?

Does this occur when you log in as a new user?

  • Indesign CS5 hangs after start - every time

My new CS5 Indesign hangs after start and I have to force quit the program. I've not been able to use this yet and wonders if anyone can help me?
When I start Indesign I can start a new document, but as soon as I interact with the program i hangs and won't quit unless I force quit. I've tried to open an already existing file - which never opens. I also tried to open Indesign from Finder, not from the Dock.
I hope anyone can help me with this.
    Best,
    R. Henriksen

I am having the same problem! Brand new iMac i7...  installed CS5 from scratch (am not transferring over programs from the old machine; wanted this one to be super fresh & clean). Have used Photoshop and Illustrator so far fine.. but InDesign crashes as soon as I try to do something - I can create a new document, but as soon as I use the type tool, crash. Or, I can sometimes successfully open up an existing document (tried both CS4 & CS5 ones), but it crashes once loaded.
I've uninstalled. Then reinstalled. no luck.
I have not yet tried to disable Suitcase (Fusion 3).  Will try this eve...
Hoping your problems have meanwhile been fixed. Any update?

  • My Zen 2gb wont even start up anymore

Hello,?When i inserted my Creative Zen 2GB and was planning on removing some music from it..i picked out the music folders and pressed <delete>, so it started deleting, but at some point it didn't go on for 0 minutes so i did?<ctrl> + <alt> + <delete> and i closed down the process manually. Then i pulled out my Creative Zen and it did NOT go to its menu's again it kept saying? <Connected> (with the PC). Then i tried to plug it back in and again and again but it had no result, it kept saying <connected>.After i while i quited trying and was looking at my Zen when i saw the <reset> button on the side. I pressed this with a blunt needle and the sreen went black...and now i cant Boot it up or do anything with it, when i plug it into my PC i DO here a sound that something got connected but my Zen's sreen doesn't light up. So please, does anyone have ANY suggesting on how to solve this problem?Should i get it repaired or...
    Please help,?Mark

I Tried now, but it seems my Zen doesn't work anymore, because if i try to turn it on, on the side, the blue light doesn't pop on :S..and there is no-way i can get to the battery because this Zen doesn't contain any screws..so i cant check if that is the problem.

  • Solution to InDesign CS5 Hang After Start

I was having a problem with InDesign CS5 where it would go through the whole start up process and then just hang, with a white box in the middle of the screen.
Here is what I did to fix it, although this is more of a hack than a real fix. I already posted this as a bug report so hopefully Adobe will come out with a dot release to handle it.
What seems to happen is that InDesign is looking for an internet connection right after it starts, and when it doesn't find one, it will keep trying if you have a network cable plugged in.
You can either un-plug your network cable before you start InDesign and it will start up just fine (you will have to do this each time you start InDesign) or you can go into the plug ins folder Applications -> InDesign CS5 -> Plug-Ins and find the PMPack folder in there is the plug-in for the welcome screen called PMWelcomeScreen.InDesignPlugin if you take this out of your plug-ins folder then you will be able to start InDesign without unplugging your network cable, but you loose the welcome screen.
    There you have it.
    Hope this helps someone.

Thanks for the suggestion on the welcome screen. I wanted to make sure that I didn't run into that the problem again. I work in an office were all our jobs are kept on a server, so I cannot afford to disconnect the network cable just in case I have something else open in another application and this is the only thing that worked .Prior to that I tried uninstalling and re-installing InDesign many times and under a new user, when two of my co-workers who have totally different machines than me had the same trouble I figured the only common denominator between us was that we were on a network and not connected to the internet from our working machines...
I am running OS 10.6.3 on a Mac Mini (2009) 2.0 GHZ core 2 duo, 4 GB of RAM.

  • APPLE PLEASE HELP! Mail hangs after start, address book never launches!

I've been reviewing postings since friday last week about issues with mail/address book after 10.5.2 and here's a summary:
    • Symptom 1: Mail launches slow
    • symptom 2: mail hangs while downloading new mail (in my case from 1 particular account according to the activity viewer, while downloading the last, most recent msg, the msg does not have attachments but it stays downloading forever, force quit required)
    • symptom 3: mail does not send msgs (in my case it sends one-by-one after each force quit/relaunch)
    • symptom 4: duplicate msgs appear, particularly msgs received after 10.5.2
    • symptom 5: mail does not quit,, force quit necessary. in my case after i force quit/ relaunch several times mail launches somewhat "normal" but after a reboot or relaunch, problems appear again. (duplicates never go away)
    • issues with mail after 10.5.2 are not ISP/email host related, we all have different ISPs and hosts and we all have the same symptoms.
    • i also experienced problems with address book, it starts but the window never opens or if it does is completely empty, no functions are possible. this also affected ichat as the info for the contacts cant be retrieved from address book.
thanks for reading and please contribute to the thread if you agree with the summary, APPLE NEEDS TO HELP US!!!

    Hi everybody,
I have received an update from my friend who suffered from the Mail problem. In fact, the errors occurring AFTER the restore from Time Machine were due to an ISP's problem. So the restore really worked after all.
So to put it in a nutshell, I would recommend the following process:
    1. Quit (or force-quit iff necessary) Mail asap when the application gets stuck. Do not open Mail again.
    2. Restore ~/Library/Mail folder from the youngest Time Machine Backup you know Mail was behaving properly.
    3. Run the 10.5.2 Combo Updater while all applications are shut down (just to be on the safe side).
    4. After the inevitable Restart, check Software Update for more updates and install if necessary.
    5. Run Mail and let it rebuild all the Mailboxes.
This should work fine to solve the problem. With the AddressBook case, I should try a similar workflow to get it fixed, yet I haven't tried that one so far.
BTW: I can only encourage you to really get an external drive and use Time Machine frequently. Even if it seems to be expensive in the first place, imho TM is the best piece of software Apple has been inventing for ages. In my case, I also tried to save money and took a leftover 40 gig HD from an old server and got myself a usb-2.0 external box for around 10 euros. Although space is limited, i have been backing up hourly since 1 February and there's still 12 gig to go. I only back um my home directory, as all my personal data, settings and mail are stored there.

  • SQL Developer EA3 hangs after start up in MacOS

Does anyone experience this issue?  After I install SQLDeveloper EA3 for Mac OS, when I click on the app to start.  SQLDeveloper starts up fine and it will present the start-up page.  But once it is in the Start-up page, then it hangs with a spinning wheel or hour glass in Windows term.  It looks like it is doing something.  But it just won't work and it hangs.  I have to force kill the job to get out of it.
Does anyone know if there is any issue like this on the MacOS side?  I have Java JDK 1.7.45 on my Mac.  SQLDeveloper 3 works fine when I uninstall SQL Developer 4 EA3 and put the SQL Developer 3 back.  I don't think that this is a java related.  But it may be configuration related where SQL Developer appears to go to la la land after it starts up.
So any idea will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

I did run this from the terminal.  I run it from /Applications/SQLDeveloper.app/Contents/Resources/sqldeveloper/sqldeveloper/bin and simply run it with ./sqldeveloper.
I have also updated the sqldeveloper.conf to use debug.conf option.
    IncludeConfFile  sqldeveloper-debug.conf
When I run it, I receive the following and then it hangs and the spinning wheel happens...

  • ITunes and other programs hang after starting...

    Hello everyone,
    Programs effected:
    iPhoto
    Adobe Acrobat
iTunes (Only when I open the iTunes Store)
    Problem:
After about a minute, the program will hang and become unresponsive (pinwheel) but will not crash. I have to shutdown the program manually. The program  will cause my CPU to max out until I force-quit it.
    Any ideas for further diagnosis?
    Thanks,
    Jared

Nevermind! I rebooted my iPod and my computer recognized it! Whew!

  • [1.1.2.25.79] Program hangs after starting long runnin SQL with parameters

    Hello Forum,
I'm currently tuning some SQLs with parameters that run some minutes. When I enter the SQL in the worksheet and press F9, SQL Developer asks for the parameters. But after clicking "Apply" (or whatever it is called in the english version, I'm using german ;-)
I get the elapsed time of 0.018 seconds displayed and the whole program hangs until the SQL is completed. The elapsed time is not updated so I don't get the real elapsed time.
I run SQL Developer against an Oracle 9.2 Database on Win2k. The client runs WinXP.
I hope this is not a double post but searching the forum for "parameters" gave too many hits to check. ;-)
    Regards,
    dhalek

Sqldev hangs when issuing an action that requires the previous action to be completed first.
Sqldev could open a new connection for this, or at least display a message telling the action isn't possible until the previous one completes, instead of just hanging. Vote for the requests for this on the SQL Developer Exchange if you want this getting addressed sooner.
    Thanks,
    K.

HI SkyBristol and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Try this... locate the Microsoft Office and Adobe CS preference files.
    com.microsoftoffice.plist com.adobecs.plist
That may not be the exact way the preference file reads but it's close.
Here's where you can find them: MacintoshHD/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Open the Preferences folder, drag those files to the Trash.
Reboot... and don't worry about trashing preference folders, your Mac will create new files for you. You will have to reset your Preferences in those applications. (Preference files can become corrupted).
Also, run Disk Utility located here: Applications/Utilities and Repair Disk Permissions.
    I hope this helps,
    Carolyn

  • Acrobat 8 hangs after starting

I've tried to find this on the forum, but I might have used the wrong keywords. If so, sorry.
I have the Design Premium CS3 Suite installed on my MacBook Pro (10.4.11). Every time I load Acrobat, it hangs and gives me the "beach ball" for a minute or longer and then begins responding normally. This happens on all launches, not just the first, and it doesn't matter what else is running.
I've tried a clean install and run plenty of disk-repairing and permissions-repairing utilities. The problem exists with a clean user account. Apple can't find anything wrong with my Mac. This is a retail copy with a real serial number, box, DVD, etc.
I do have Acrobat 7 installed, but I can trash it without problems.
Has anyone else experienced this? Or does anyone have a suggestion?
    Thank you.

Does this occur when you log in as a new user?
    Jon

  • Since firefox updated to FF9, it just hangs after started

ealier today, FF updated on its own from FF8 which i had installed, no FF9. ever since it did that, i can no longer access any website. whenever i enter the browser. any website that i try to surf to, just gets stuck on the loading sign, and does nothing. the system resources that FF takes spike to the roof, and until i kill the app, i cannot do anything. i tried re-installing.. that didnt help.
    help me please!!!

This is a [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1010311 known compatibility issue] of the site and Firefox. For the meantime, you can instead install [https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/organizations/ Firefox ESR] to continue using the storage service.

  • Photoshop Elements 13 running in Windows 8.1 hangs immediately after starting

Photoshop Elements 13 running in Windows 8.1 hangs immediately after starting.  Has to be shut down by Task Manger.  Task Manger shows that it is still using some CPU.  Ran Procmon (part of Sysinternals) which shows that it is in a loop.   Stack trace shows it is executing code in AMTValidateProductLicense.dll.  Started happening about a month after I installed PSE.  Everything used to work fine at first.  Have tried going back to an old image of Win 8.1 on a different hard drive, otherwise same computer, and installed PSE 13 from DVD.  That installation never worked, it aways hangs.  If I do a clean boot, it sometimes runs long enough for me to click on a menu item and then hangs the same way.  And, yes I bought a new DVD to run on this computer, never been used in any other way.  Any ideas how I can get PSE running properly?

It really doesn't look like a licensing issue, it seems to be code in the area of license validation that isn't working.
I took your suggestion and initiated a couple of chat sessions with support, but so far still no luck.  The latest session with Neeraj seemed to be promising.  After some investigation he asked to reinstall.  First he uninstalled with Revo Uninstall, which seemed to be pretty thorough.  That required a restart, so he set things up to restore his conference session and took my phone number.  Unfortunately I guess his connection didn't come back.  When I didn't hear from him after a couple of hours I tried installing Photoshop and Premiere myself.  As before, Premiere works and Photoshop doesn't.  When I start Photoshop, the window opens and for a couple of seconds menus open when I click on them.  Then the window freezes and I have to use Task Manager to kill it.  So basically, I've tried several things but I'm back where I've been all along, I can't get Photoshop to work.  I'd really appreciate suggestions about something else to try.
I wish someone at Adobe was interested in the Process Monitor traces I've made, because I'm sure someone who knows the code would be able to figure out pretty quickly what's happening.  Is it trying to read a file that's not there, failing to write a file, failing to make an internet connection or what?  It really shouldn't be this hard to figure out.

I am able to connetct from JRMC. After removing -Xmanagement all is working.

Can you please take a thread dump and copy paste the stack trace for the Thread called "main" thread.
Please take atleast 3 thread dumps with an interval of 10 seconds and paste the "main" thread stack trace from all the 3 thread dumps.
After analyzing the stack trace we might be able to determine where it is hanging and thus giving us a clue where the issue could be.

  • Adobe Acrobat DC hangs shortly after start

    Hi,
After starting Adobe Acrobat DC in Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64Bit, after 1 or 2 seconds, the application does not respond anymore. I can only terminate the application. Anyone else experiencing this behaviour?
    Thanks.
    With regards,
    Reza Stephan Amiri

Something very interesting happened in my case:
As sukridt15 had mentioned, I ran the Repair option. It didn't really have any impact. I had exactly the same behaviour as JoninJacksonville, only perhaps the hang duration was not as long anymore.
At some other time I started Photoshop CC 2014. At the beginning it was also not very responsive, (before upgrading to Adobe Acrobat DC I never had any problems with Photoshop), choosing any option took several seconds. I then tried to print a picture, as mentioned it also took several seconds to load the dialog box for printing but once it was there, I was able to print without any issues and Photoshop started to become responsive in a normal manner again. Interestingly enough from that time I also didn't have any problems with Adobe Acrobat DC. I can't tell you how this is related but that's how the problem was resolved.
I also get the following error in the event log:
    Source: SideBySide
    Event ID: 78
    Description:
Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe".Error in manifest or policy file "" on line . A component version required by the application conflicts with another component version already active. Conflicting components are:. Component 1: C:\windows\WinSxS\manifests\amd64_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0. 9600.17415_none_6240486fecbd8abb.manifest.
    Component 2: C:\windows\WinSxS\manifests\x86_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.96 00.17415_none_a9ed7f470139b3c1.manifest
I'm not sure whether the unresponsiveness has something to do with this but I'm sure that this error in the event log should not necessarily be there.
    Again, I'm using Core i7, 64Bit, 32GB RAM, Windows 8.1 Enterprise Version.
BTW, when I installed Adobe Acrobat DC on a Surface Pro 3 which has Windows 8.1 Professional installed, there weren't any problems. I haven't checked the event log to see whether the error is there as well.
    With regards,
    Reza Stephan Amiri
