  • Zen 4Gb White screen after hold m

    Hi,
I have this problem on my zen 4gb: when I put it in hold mode, everything works fine, but when I put it back to "normal mode", then the screen becomes white. The player works but I can't see anything because it's white, I have to switch it off and then on to have a normal situation. I tried to reinstall the firmware (ver. .20.02) but nothing changed.
Someone has the same problem? Have you a solution?
    Thank you,
    Enrico

Ahh. The white screen. Have you reformated the player? Under creative media explorer tools, there is an option to format. Try this. If not, send it back. Here is a good forum too.

  • Zen 4gb white scr

I have loaded newest firmware but still get white screen on startup. It did boot properly time but after i turned it off then on again I got the white screen. Whats going on? Is there a fix for this or is it an RMA issue?

I have a problem which was quite the same. Yesterday I upgraded my player Zen 4Gb and transferred some files on it. After that I tried to read them, but I selected the music menu, the screen became black and I can't do anything with it. I decided to reset it and now, it's off but doesn't want to turn on or somewhat else. I tried to re upgrade firmware or use recovery tool but my player is not recognized by my computer.
    i'm out of ideas

  • Creative Zen 32GB White Screen

I've started having a problem in the last 2 days with my Creative Zen 32GB. I've had the player since July 2010. The only problems I've really had with the player have been some minor freeze-ups, but other than that, everything else has been smooth sailing.
The other day, my player froze up to a black screen while the power-on button was still on. I let the battery run out as I didn't have anything near by to help reset the player. I charged the unit some and tried turning on the player, but I had to still reset the player. I then began getting a white screen. After another hard reset and plugging in my USB to charge it, it came back on, but I've been having problems keeping a charge on the player. I charged the player to 100% and turned it off, but the next morning when I tried to turn it on, it was dead again.
Is this a problem with the battery? My player isn't under warranty anymore, but I like it and want to keep it. I just want to make sure this is the problem before I start asking for repairs or anything. Anybody else had problems with this?

Tried charging it with 2 cables. I think the battery just can't hold its charge anymore. It'll hold for about 12-16 hours, but when I wake up the next morning and try to turn it on, it's dead.
What's the best way about getting this replaced? Is it possible to still pay for Creative to service it (since it's out of warranty), and if not, is there anywhere else I can send this to get it serviced?

  • Creative Zen 4GB backlight/screen flic

Quite frequently the screen and or backlight of my Zen 4GB will flicker while either lowering brightness automatically or if i press a button. I was wondering if this is very common, because my freind's Zen 8GB doesn't do this at all. If it is really common i won't bother returning it, but if it isn't common i'd say its almost worth me returning it. By the way, i have tried every firmware from .0 and up, nothing helped. Someone please offer advice/help, if possible, as this is particularly annoying.

I had this problem (if it can be classified a problem) on my ZEN 8GB with .3.0e and a couple of firmwares back, but it never really bothered me as it only ocassionally started to flicker when I pressed a button (volume controls in particular, for some reason). With .20.02e I have, however, not come across this anymore. Right now, with this firmware,?my player is nearly flawless (just rare blank screens subsequent to unlocking). And yes, it is common with this, but no, it's not worth returning it for this sake, as it has been concluded here before that the flickering-matter has got to do with firmware.Message Edited by de_zwaluw on 0-26-200802:49 AM

  • Creative Zen 8GB - White screen!! UK resident experience - pls post yours with advi

Having decided upon the 8GB Creative Zen I was very looking forward to giving this to my son..
good price.. good spec.. looks very neat too and then it worked for all of 5 mins on Christmas day.
The poor lad he'd been looking forward to his present for ages..
I loaded all software/firmware correctly.. charged for 4hours as stated.
The 'recovery tool' on this website is simply a tool that updates the firmware again.. well Ive done that 4 times now and completely re-booted the device with NO joy.
ALL I get is a white screen when its turns on.
I've also tried using a paper clip to re-boot.
What do I do? - send it back and receive another zen and run the risk of the same issue.. or simply look for a new mp3/mp4 device around the 00-40 UK pound price range.
This issue seems to be all over the internet.. i've seen it on amazon forums and this forum and in places such as UK and USA.
I am now going to try and load some older firmware onto the device if I can and see if that works..
    I'll post if it does.
    anyone got any suggestions/experiences?
    Thanks
    Rennie

Here is the phone number I used today here in the US, but it is only for people with problems with warranty and returns and who already have a RMA number. I used it to straighten out a length of warranty question. 405.742.2372? You can also contact them by e-mail.

  • New Zen 8GB White Screen after l

The Issue: the player goes to white screen when "locked" and then "unlocked" while playing music. The music still plays, but the white screen does not reset until the player is shut off and then restarted.
Basically I just want to keep this issue current on these boards, and know whether it will be fixed in a firmware update. If it's a hardware problem (and therefore not fixable through firmware), I would appreciate it if Creative Labs would kindly let its customers know so that they can return their products.
Please post here if you're seeing the same issue (or better, if you know a fix!).
    Thanks.Message Edited by 84CubsFan on 2-25-20070:06 PM

  • Zen 4GB... Flashing white screen when powered o

I was wondering if anyone has encountered this problem.
My new Zen... since the day I received it, flashes a white screen when it is just sitting there on my desk. It turns on then off real quick randomly... I notice it because I keep it at my computer desk... it happens at random, I actually see it happen maybe to 4 times a day. It does it on 4 different firmwares including the newest firmware. I was hoping the next one may fix it but it does seem more logical that this is a hardware issue. It works perfectly whiled turned on... but it seems possessed by turning on by itself and I am thinking of returning it before it turns into a bigger problem. I'm assuming bad wiring... maybe just with mine...
Don't let this discourage you though... it is a great mp3 player.

Yes, i have that flashing screen, too. It?s so very annoying ...
With the stock firmware, the .03, I have only problem, the hold-mode.
If I turn hold-mode on, the display shuts down, quite normal.
If I turn hold-mode off, the display shows only a white screen, nothing else,
music keeps running and I can push keys, but i can't see anything ...

  • I want this defective ZEN player with a white screen replaced.

I purchased a Creative Labs 4GB Zen Player on January 3th of 2009 at Walmart for $.45 including a extra one year protection plan. I used this player for a couple of months and it sat in a drawer for the remainder of the year. I pull it out of the drawer last week to discover it has what the web describes as the "white screen of death". This player functions but the screen is blank. I have been through your automated recovery/firmware update procedure and it was no help what so ever. So here I have a product I got basically 60days of service from that went bad sitting in a drawer.
Bottom line: I want this defecti've unit replaced.

This is a user forum.:smileyindifferent: Has nothing to do with Customer Service. If you purchased your extended warranty thru Walmart then that is who you would need to contact.

  • Zen 4GB player freezing/screen going black

I have a Zen 4GB, and recently it's been freezing up a lot; the screen goes black, or sometimes white, or sometimes streaks the background colors, like vertical blinds, and I have to reset it. It usually happens when I press any button, but sometimes just when it's jostled.
I already tried upgrading/reloading the firmware, and then I tried formatting the whole thing, and neither of those have helped. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Could it be a hardware problem? Thanks.

    Hi Panthea,
It does sounds like some kind of hardware issue, I would suggest getting in touch with support.

  • Zen vision M 30GB blank white screen

I have scanned the forum for a smiliar problem but I need more help.
My Zen vision M, 30GB player is a 2004 model, my Operating system is Windows Vista, 32-bit. I'm not sure what firmware I have on my player. As of last week, I have only a blank white screen; I have backed up all my contents and dowloaded the recovery tool with no result.
After contacting Customer service, they sent me to the forum to look for help or buy a new unit...just want to make sure there is no other recourse I can pursue.

A white screen can not be repaired it must be replaced. It is a hardware issue not software. You can do it yourself. Purchase another screen & replace it. I have done this many times. • Creative Zen X-fi (with lan) white screen issues

?Hello everyone, So I've been having my zen x-fi for a few months and it has been working excellently...until yesterday when it suddently (after what might have been a lightly hit, I had it in my front pocket and bumped in lightly into some object)...well suddently the screen went white but kind of still something black there (see photo below) <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/666/dscf2249redigerad.jpg"]http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/666/dscf2249redigerad.jpg[/url] I have been looking into troubleshooting about this particular issue, but what is suggested there under the white screen-issue is to reset and update firmware, something I did already first thing after it happened. The thing is that other than the screen being a quaking mess, it seems to otherwise be in working condition, because when I turn it on and push the play button music will still play as before. it's just the screen that is the problem. Any ideas? Best wishes, Babba

Hello there, thank you for your welcome. That is sad info about my music player though, I liked it so much while it was still working. unfortunately im not within the warrant period so I will have to invest in a new one. thank you for your help though. I will look into which creative player is the best one within my price range

  • Creative Zen overheating error, and now just a white screen?

<C CHi, My Creative Zen mp3 player, 8Gb, 2 years old recently decided not to work properly, it's the first time in 2 years of loyal service it finally failed on me It happened like this: I turned it on, and first it began to execute commands without me pressing any buttons, like skipping to next song, or pausing, in a wild frenzy of quick actions, and strange colours. Then a error message, "overheating, shutting down" appeared, and then the player shut down, but the player did not feel hot, there were no sounds coming from the player, and i have never left it in a hot place, ever I left it alone overnight, the next morning, i turned it on again, the error message came up again one more time, and then i turned it off again, the third time i turned it on, no more error message, now simply it turn on to a white screen, which fades into a lighter white, or like a grey, and after 20 seconds, goes to black (off again, by itself). I tried to connect via usb to my laptop, and at first it appeared in my computer, but i wasn't able to keep the connection, and now it doesn't connect at all What do i DO?

Have you tried resetting the player with the little button on the side?
