Zen 7 "hangs" on preformatting (optiplex 360)

netware 6.5
Zen 7.0.1
I can make an image from an optiplex 360, however when I try to restore an optiplex 360 from this image it "hangs" on the pre-formatting ntfs partition stage.
the counter is still incrementing, but it never moves from the pre-formatting.
I am not sure what to try next.

  • Can i use my Creative Zen Touch with my Xbox 360

Hello, wondering if you can help me out with the question above, and if you know how to make it work. If you could help me i'd be grateful.

You can use the Zen Touch with the Xbox 360, but you would have to update the firmware on the player to an MTP (2.x) firmware. This will slightly change the way the player works on the PC. For more information on MTP, check this knowledgebase article.

  • Optiplex 360 drivers for Server 2003

I have an Optiplex 360 that is running Windows Server 2003 and the video card does not have any drivers loaded for it. I believe it has the Intel graphics installed, of the 4 I see available on this PC, but I have been unable to find a suitable driver for it. I have tried downloading the drivers from support but none of them work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

With older drivers there may be certificate issues meaning that you will have to roll back the date / time and or install the driver in compatability mode.  Directx and Video and Audio Service and drivers are DISABLED BY DEFAULT in 2003 server.   I installed 2003 server on my 360 and it worked fine including the drivers. But its  not cookie cutter out of the box.  You have to enable the proper services BEFORE installing the drivers.  The intel Drivers are not the proper drivers for an addin video card AND Chipset Drivers MUST BE INSTALLED first before anything else. The forum is not a step by step support for an end of life operating system on an unsupported platform.  Even microsoft paid support does not accomodate teaching how to install server drivers on non servers.

  • Problems with my Creative Micro Zen hanging on the Creative Logo Scr

I've been having problems with my Zen and have sent the following email to creative but if any one has any suggestions etc on what to do could they please email me thanks
My Creative Micro Zen 5GB player has been hanging whilst using the player.
I followed the advice found in the manual and on the creative web site to reset the player by removing the battery and then reinstalling it. This worked on a few occasions.
However the player hung again and so I tried to rest it as before, when I replace the battery the player turned on and lights up with the Creative logo screen, but then hangs on the Creative logo screen, despite waiting to see if the player continued with the start-up, it did not and so then I tried resetting again, by removing the battery and reinstalling it.
However the player is still hanging on this screen and I cant get it move away from this screen. The player wont allow me to move away from this screen at all, so I am unable to carryout the disk clean up which was also suggested. When the resetting didn?t work, I tried taking the battery out and leaving it overnight and then replacing the battery, however the player still hangs on the Creative logo screen. This has been continuing now for three days.
I have also tried plugging the player into the power charger and it still hangs on the Creative logo screen. The backlight on the Zen Player lights up when the player first turns on but once the Creative logo appears on screen the light fades out. I have also tried recharging the battery to see if maybe the problem was a flat battery but this didn?t appear to work as it is still hanging. However the Zen does light up as it does when it charges normally. I also own a spare battery, which I have tried but the Zen player still hangs on the Creative Logo page.

I found the solution! I saw numerous posts saying that all you could do is send it back to the company, then I found this one:
    Hi All,
My zen has been down for the last week, hangs up on creative screen. I took the battery out and was able to get to the recovery mode but "disc scan" would not do anything(in limbo) and "reboot "met with the same result, nothing. If you want to talk to anyone at creative and are past your 6 month warranty window you have to pay $20 for the phone call. Well I decided to take matters into my own hands and spent yesterday morning researching old threads about this problem. I kept finding an uncommon fix. When you hold your power button on and replace you battery and the recovery screen starts up you wrap on the back with your knuckle, in my case I hit my zen face down sharply on my dresser. To my amazement the "Doobie Brothers" started playing and I have'nt had any problems yet. Evidently these systems have a hard dri've that hangs up. It may not work for you but it cured my glitch.
    Steve C.
It worked for me, but only after four or fi've tries. Good Luck!<IMG height=6 src="http://forums.americas.creative.com/i/smilies/6x6_smiley-very-happy.gif" width=6 border=0>

  • New Creative ZEN Firmware 1.21.03" firmware does not work

    >New Creative ZEN Firmware .2.03" firmware does not work This new "Creative ZEN Firmware .2.03, Filesize : 7.6 MB" firmware does not work.
All I get is : "Please make sure there is only one player connected" (See image below)
I have a CreativeZen 4GB player with Vista 64-Bit Operating system (Main System).
Yes, I have followed the instructions step-by-step, downloaded the new firmware first, then, connected my ZEN player, double-clicked the "ZEN_PCFW_L22__2_03" downloaded file.
Note : No other programs were running in the backround, even turned off installed firewall and anti-virus software. Also, tried this new firmware in a Windows XP (SP2) computer system and a Notebook Vista 32-Bit computer system. Yes! I only have one player connected. Same result (See image below).
I left it sit for one hour and did not move, same result (See image below).
I tried this in safemode (All OS systems), same result (See image below).

Re: New Creative ZEN Firmware .2.03" firmware does not work$ I updated my Zen 32GB using Vista x64 so it can work under some situations. Can't say my upgrade went problem-free but it did work in the end.
You might try some of the following (no promises they will help, but can't really hurt):
Re-download the firmware updater. Maybe you got a bad download.
Make sure your Zen is directly connected to a system USB port (i.e. not to a port on a monitor, keyboard, ext USB hub, etc.)
Try running the firmware update as Administrator if you aren't already
Try uninstalling the Creative drivers before the update.
In my case I got stuck on a message that another application was using my Zen. Turned out the simple act of hooking up the player resulted in Vista running a headless "wmplayer.exe *32" process. I had to manually kill it from TaskManager in order to proceed. Even then the first update attempt ended with the Zen reporting a firmware problem and rebooting into the Recovery Menu. I had to use Reload Firmware to erase what it had and then try again. Second time was the charm.
After all that I can't for the life of me see any changes/improvements in the new firmware. The forum is full of gripes and wishlists yet none of them complain about the radio functionality. I've used it almost every day for year without issue (aside from the rare Zen hang/crash when messing with the headphone jack and/or sliding the power switch). Thank goodness after waiting 0- months since the last update they got around to fixing something nobody noticed was broken. /2?:smileyvery-happy:

  • Creative Zen 20MB H

    Hi
I have just purchased a Zen 20Gb,installed the software, pared down my 40GB+ collection of music to 20GB and synced the player with music on my computer.
I then went to play a track to see what it was like. The track was a which I ripped from a CD. I had ripped it using WMP V0 in lossless format.
The Zen has now hung. I have Googled it a bit and seems that MP3 players don't like lossless files though I can not understand why as it is only more bits of information.
Anyway nothing I do will stop the Zen hanging. I have reset it numerous times and it just sits there on the song title and band name. I can't switch it off, I can't do anything.
Can anybody help? Is there away to format the dri've completely reset the player. What if I take the back off and take the battery out?
Please help. I really know my way around computers, software but can not believe how this piece of kit simply becomes inaccessible.
    Regards
    purpleperson

    Scorpian
Thanks for that. I found out about Creative players not supporting WMA Lossless after it had hung. Do you know why? Surely a lossless file is simply one with more bits of info!
    Thanks Glenzen. re your message:
"You can't remove/put back the battery without unscrewing the player, which will cause your warranty to be void."
How do I replace the battery if it fails?
"For resetting the player, you can use a bent paper clip and press the reset button (left of the chrome switch, there is a small whole - the reset button) gently, but hard enough to reset it. You should see the screen restarting with the creative logo and the "water drop" display (and of course the light)."
I have done that but just resets to the hung state.
"If it still doesn't work, you can refer to the FAQ section about resetting and cleaning your player or call the customer service."
Will try this but I can bot access the dri've if plugged into my PC it is recognised for a split second when I reset it and then it is not there.
"Otherwise, if you're still uncomfortable, and if your player is bought in less than a week, you can make use of the 7 days -to- exchange program which creative has."
Gi'ven to me as a birthday gift in late August but only just had the chance to set it up.
    Not a happy person.
    Thanks for the tips though.
Still think I'll sell this on Ebay and get a 60gb Ipod. I am sure there will be cries of derision but 5 million people can' be wrong and I love all the extras you can get for it. My wife particularly loves the socks!!

  • Zen Micro to Xbox

I'm trying to stream my music from my Zen Micro to my Xbox 360. These are the instructions Microsoft gives me to do so:
. Connect a USB cable (not provided) between the device and a controller port on your console.
    2. Configure the device to play through the USB port.
    3. Select Media, Music, Portable Device.
    4. Select the music or playlist you want to listen to.
My system won't let me acess the Portable Device option in step 3, so I think the problem is in step 2. How do I configure my Zen Micro to play through the USB port?
Also, the microsoft website has Zen Micro listed as a supported device that may require a firmware update, but I looked through the list of firmwares, I don't know which one that would be.
EDIT: Ok, after browsing around a little more, I found that I need the V.2 Firmware. But when I try to open it, it says that something is interfering with it and to close everything else. But everything else is closed, and I still get this. Help?Message Edited by antny85 on 02-9-20070:26 AM

All that's important is the player has the PlayForSure/MTP v2.xx firmware. MTP is required for an MP3 player to talk to an Xbox 360.
Thanks. I got the information st from the XBOX Support website, then the exact same verbage was found here, in the Creative Knowledge Base. Here is the EXACT text from the Creative Knowledge Base on the XBOX 360 / Zen Micros search I summited: (Note Step number 2. This is what causes the confusion. Creative makes it sound like there is some option or setting the Zen user must configure) .. Anyway, thanks for your assistance!

I've installed all the software from the "Installation CD"

To Get Your Computer To Recognize Your Zen MicroPhoto you need to just reinstall your current version of windows media player because it has all of the drivers for mp3 players. This worked for me and should work for everyone else. Your Welcome once this works

I have a designjet 500 24 inch printer.  I just switched from a hp vector windows 2000 platform to a Dell optiplex 360 windows xp pro version 2002 service pack 3 platform and my printer starts to print the first few lines and then stops.  I initially installed the driver from the original CD that came with the printer.  I then deleted that driver and went to the HP website and downloaded and installed the most recent driver for XP and I still have the same problem.  There is no error message that prints on the printer window, in fact the message that does appear states the it is finished printing, it rolls out the full poster size and then cuts it.  The print status window on the PC says that my document failed to print.  I need some help.

  • How do I remove an old scanner from the File_Import sub-menu?

I'm running Photoshop CS6 under Windows 7-32bit, on a Dell Optiplex 360 with 4GB of RAM installed. My hard drive has 96GB of free space, so system resources seem adequate.
I recently replaced an old multi-function printer and a flat-bed scanner with a new multi-function printer that is capable of flat-bed scanning too. I have disconnected the old devices and uninstalled the drivers, not only from my computer but from all the other computers on my home network too. But the File_Import menu still shows all three devices even though two of them have been permanently disconnected. What am I missing? I would really like to make the scanners that I no longer have disappear from that import menu. How do I do it?

Try this: You will only want to delete the files associated with your obsolete scanner.
If you are not sure, please contact tech support of the uninstalled scanner.
Following the un-installation of the programs, delete the "twain"
files and the "twunk" files. This is done because some of these files are
not removed from the computer when the programs are uninstalled.
    a. Go to "Start," come up to "Find or Search," and
click on "Files or Folders."  Be sure the "look in" box is set to search the
    hard drive, or "C:" drive.
    b. In the "named" box type "twain" (minus the quotes).
Make sure the box to the left of "Include subfolders" is selected (has a
check mark in it). If not, click on the box.
    c. Click on the "Find Now" button.
    d. Delete all of the "twain" files by going to "Edit"
and clicking on "Select all," and then going to "File" and clicking on
    "Delete."
    e. Go through the previous four steps again, but this
time type "twunk" (minus the quotes) in the "Named" box instead of typing
    "twain."

  • Why does Reader crash my computer?

By crash I mean power off. No error messages, the computer shuts off immediately (no "window is shutting down", etc dialog box).
It started after I upgraded to X. I can open one pdf. If I open another one, or close it and reopen, the computer turns off.
I unintalled X and reinstalled version 9. Same problem.
I uninstalled 9, removed Reader from my registry (possible I missed something there), reinstalled 9; the problem persists.

We have two other users who had the same problem with version 9. We pursued it at the time and hit dead ends.
It didn't happen to me until I upgraded to X. Now that it's happening to my computer it is a crisis .

I have solved the problem by uninstalling Version 11 and replacing it with version 9.5.
From my internet research, I have found others having an issue with screen freezing.
Older versions do not do this
