Zen 7 Install hangup

This morning my server that hosts Zen 7 for us self destructed (hardware, not software). I'm attempting a clean install of Zen 7 SP1 (I think it calls it release 2 - I got it this morning). I run through the install wizard perfectly fine - but when I click Finish to begin the installation the Novell screen with a progress bar comes up and hangs with just 2 little blocks of progress.
The server is a fresh NetWare 6.5.8 server, it is being hosted on esx4.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Dennis

  • Creative Zen install CD doesn't work on Windows 7 / 64 bit

My installation CD for my Creative Zen will not load on my new pc - Windows 7 / 64 bit. I tried downloading Media Source from website, it seemed to work but would not recognize my zen when connected. Please help

    Thanks!
I figured out how to get Creative mediasource on Windows 7 by using the 5.26.02 version but it won't recognize my Zen Touch. Further searching brought up using the Plays for Sure Plugin 5.00.36 but was warned that it wipes my Zen clean to install updated firmaware. Will the pack you linked do the same?
I'm guessing I should back up my current library in any case. As soon as I figure that out on my old XP pc, I will forge ahead.

  • Install Hangup

I know i've already posted my problem a few times, but seems they got deleted (they don't answer questions but they DO delete posts).
Anyways, i downloaded the Install file to my PC several times, each time i try to install it happens the same: all goes fine until the install freezes at the "registering modules" step.
I've already tried disabling conflicting software, antivirus, anti spyware, firewall, everything and still can't install iTunes 7 on my PC.
I've also tried all the troubleshooting solutions this page offers, with no luck.
Some of the other users called Apple only to find out that they don't have support for iTunes, only iPod, question is: if Itunes is essential for using your iPod how the **** am i supposed to get my iPod started without iTunes?
Version 6 works good, if your iPod supports ver 6 stick with it, trust me ver 7 is not working properlly. If your iPod is new and demands ver 7 then ur screwed (like i am).
The only 3 solutions i have are:
1- Return your iPod before its too late and buy a Zune, that will teach Apple.
2- Buy (or dig deep in the underground) a 3rd party program like Anapod (which costs 30 bucks).
3- Keep waiting for the unexistant help or until Apple decides to fix their software?
Anyways, if someone has a suggestion for my problem ill be glad to know.
    Thnx for reading!

  • Installing zen on windows vi

Ive updated the firmware for my zen microphoto. Software isnt supported. Is there anything else that I can do to get zen installed ?

You can download a Windows Vista compatible version of MediaSource from our Downloads page. Make sure you download the plug-in too so you can use the player in the software.

  • Creative Nomad Zen Jukebox issue with Vi

I have used this forum to get my Zen installed properly on the vista machine that i purchased recently. I then downloaded the Nomad explorer from Creative, and i can see all the songs in my player on my machine. The problem is that i am unable to copy the songs on my laptop. When i copy the songs, it shows that the copy is in progress and eventually nothing gets copied. I am really not sure what is happening...
    Any ideas?

My understanding is that it wouldn't accept files over 2Gb. The problem with loading any large file is that if you have some problem with USB during the download it will fail.
Try splitting the file into significantly smaller chunks to see if this helps, say 00Mb.

  • Anyone with Win XP Home Edition - SP2 have any luck connecting to Zen Micro???

Has anyone out there that has Windows XP Home Edition with SP2 had any success with the following:
. Using Zen Media Explorer with the Zen Micro successfully?
    2. Actually having the Zen Micro recognized by the Windows XP Home Edition (using USB2.0)?
Since my first attempt at connecting to the Zen Micro without the software and firmware updates was unsuccessful, I upgraded Zen Media Explorer to 4.00.8 (from 4.00.3) and upgraded firmware to v2.00.2 (from v). Still no luck!!!
I need a savior here before I decide to start looking into return policys.
    My problems are:
. I plug in the zen micro into the usb2.0 port, and it states, "Found New Hardware: Creative Zen Micro."
    2. But then it immediately says there is a problem with the device and takes me to the "Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard."
    3. I step through the wizard, point it to search for the appropriate drivers on the Zen install cd rom and also to search the C:\Windows\System32, only to have it tell me that "The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary hardware."
Any suggestions? There must be something in XP Home Edition that is not jiving with the zen and its software because I have used the Micro successfully at work on a XP Professional machine with no issue.
I will call Creative tomorrow if I don't get things settled out.

Ok I had the same problem. It's most likely a driver installation error.
    Insert the software CD.
After it starts exit the installation and go to My Computer. Right click the D:\ (or whichever letter is your CD dri've) and select Explore..
From there you will look for a Folder named Drivers.
From there you should see 3 files and double click the first of the three,( If it's not the first one try the second or third)
This should be the driver installation pack for Creative Zen microdri've players ( Which includes the Zen Micro) After it should say something abuot re-connecting the player to make the changes fully effecti've. I restarted my computer and the player and plugged the player into the same USB port and XP recognized the player and Zen Media Explorer said teh player was connected.

    Hi
It will work as long as you are connected to the other tree and if
workstation objects are created for the workstations in TreeB. But ifthere is no Zen installed i doubt that you have workstation objects.

  • ZFD2 - ZFD3.2 Upgrade - Same tree, different server...

    I'm currently running ZFD2 on a Netware 4.11 server.
This particular server is also my master replica in a mixed tree with 5 5.1
servers. Now, I'm looking to designate one of the 5.1 servers as the
master and retire the trusty 4.11 server. The _only_ things I'm currently
doing with ZFD2 are simple application objects and User policies for
Windows 2000 machines (and XP, although it doesn't work right on those,
hence the need to upgrade :-). So, we're under an SLA and I could easily
install ZFD4 but I'd rather move only to ZFD3.2 and install the latest
support pack in order to avoid a major eDirectory overhaul. I have rather
limited time and not much room for error (that's news, eh?). I have the
ZFD3.2 media and I would like to install this on one of my 5.1 servers,
BUT.... what ramifications will this have on the old ZFD2? Will I need to
_remove_ either the old 4.11 server or the old Zen install prior to
installing ZFD3.2, or can I just go ahead and do it? Let the pieces fall
    where they may?
I know I've folded a lot of questions into one post, but maybe some kind
soul can guide me in the direction. Thanks!

Is there a problem with the I tunes store at the moment. I'm trying to update to 4.3.4 on my phone to stop a large app download but it can't connect through my I tunes?
Can you stop a download part way through without the update?

  • NAL empty after [Public] trustee rightsmodification

After adjusting trustee assignments of [Public] to the root of the tree,
specifically removing [All Attribute Rights] Compare and Read,
the NAL stopped showing any applications.
When I assign an application directly to the user (not a group) user's app
    shows in the App. Launcher.
Any ideas - other than putting the [All Attribute Rights] Compare and Read
right s back on? BTW, putting them back on makes it all work again.
[Public] has only Browse on [entry Rights] now.
I have a test tree with Zen installed and that tree doesn't have the
[Public] all attribute rights set, and everything works fine.
    Any help is appreciated.

Try removing the rights from [PUBLIC] but reassigning them to [O] and
    inheritable.
It sounds like the user can't read the required attributes from the group
objects to tell what apps are assigned.
    Specifically the App:Associations.
There may be more but that jumps out at me.

  • I've installed firmware for my zen micro, now i can't use my creative software! Please he

I wanted to download some music from napster and to play it on my player it told me I needed a firmware upgrade. I knew from buying my player that I probably would need to upgrade so I did. Once I installed the upgrade, and plugged my zen micro in and now it will only let me use windows media player? to transfer my music to my player. I hate this software as it doesn't work brilliantly, I was really happy with the creative software, but now when I plug in my micro and open the creative software it won't recognise it. I've tried reinstalling the creative software but its made no difference. Also, a box keeps coming up with something called MTP what is this? Can anyone help me with this problem? I would really appreciate it!

MTP is microsoft's media transfer protocol. Essentially, your micro can now connect to WinXP SP2 computers with WMP0 without loading Creative drivers.
The new firmware you installed allows you to drag and drop files to your micro using windows explorer. In order to use any of Creative's software, you'll need to download and install updated versions from their website.

  • Problem zen vision:m install

    Oh, right, sorry.
"OS Name: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
    Version: 5..2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600"
Though currently, I'm installing Windows XP Service Pack 3 via Windows Automatic Updates.
    WMP Version: .0.572.5230
Should I uninstall WMP entirely to eliminate it as a possible factor?
(I have Winamp so I don't really need WMP.)
Are you saying that once I rollback my WMP to WMP0, my computer will be capable of reading my Zen & thus, allowing me to download the firmware and restoring it's previous condition (minus the contents-music, video, pictures, etc.)
Also, I tried to see if my Zen would try to connect to my laptop - I uninstalled the Zen program on it before connecting it, to see if anything would come up, allowing me to do anything, etc. But no, it just said "My Zen" but I couldn't do anything with that. And then I installed all of the software on the Creative Installation CD. After all of that, apparently my computer acknowledges that a device is connected via USB because it gives me an option as to what to do with it - open it, play it with wmp, explore, etc. The problem though was that the Creative program itself wouldn't acknowledge that it was connected. So I still had the "The player is not connected."
Just thought this might make a difference -
I also was looking for some kind of repair shops or sites that would be capable of repairing my Zen - the only thing I came across was http://www.zenrepair.com/Zen/index.jsp - does anyone know anything about this site? If it's reliable, etc. (Just a back up option in case this situation isn't solveable by other Zen peers.)
Also, thanks again for any help, effort, attempt, etc.

  • Zen XTRA is completely dead after installing the latest firmware 2.10

Hello,?I have tried to install the latest firmware 2.0.03 to my Zen Xtra 60GB mp3 player. The installation process completed about 70%. As I understand, at that point the?new firmware was finally uploaded after a couple of player reboots. The?firmware installer was waiting with a message "Waiting for the player to reboot", and the player rebooted. But the firmware installer was waiting, and waiting... and after an hour I looked at the player and saw that it was not starting up at all. I removed the USB cable, stopped the firmware upgrade process and tried to reboot the player with reset; then I tried to access the recovery menu as described in the FAQ?- but no success. The player shows completely no response to any button presses, the LCD does not even flicker, the hard dri've does not power up - I don't hear it. Nothing happens, even if pressing the play/reset switch for fi've minutes. What's could be the matter? And more importantly, how can I get it working back again? I fear that the warranty has expired by now. Can anyone suggest what to do?I would be grateful for any ideas.

It is puzzling how some people including myself can upgrade thier firmware on thier devices and experience no problems at all during the procedure. Then theres others like yourself who would experience catastrophic events.
Since we all downloaded the firmware from the same place, and?alot of us didn't have any problems, it is?at least safe to say that there isn't anything?wrong?with the new firmware. Or else we'd all problems.
So for these devices that are failing, there must have been already a serious problem with them before the upgrade even started. The symptons just went unnoticed through every day normal use. And are only manifested through a reload/upgrade of firmware. Or something happened on the computer itself, during the transfer of data; auto file scanning virus protection comes to mind, or other programs or services running in the background that were taking up resources needed to make the upgrade go smoothly,?a USB cable with a short in it or a bad USB port. Who knows?!
If the player doesn't even start?up in?rescue mode then theres really nothing as a consumer you can do to fix it. You'd have to just see about getting it repaired, or replace it. I know yours is a 60GB, but?I gotta tell you the new 30GB Zen Vision M is a sweet deal!

  • Zen Vision M 30Gb Install Probl

So I just got my Zen Vision M 30Gb today and I plugged it into my computer. It started charging and then my computer finally recognized it and tried to do the normal driver install, but for some reason it doesn't seem to have completely installed the drivers. So I unplugged it and tried it again, but it did the same thing once again. Is this normal? Is there anything I need to do? Or do I just need to wait till the Zen is completely recharged then unplug it and replug it back in? Any help is appreciated guys. Thanks!Message Edited by NslMatt on 03-0-200709:35 PM

  • Zen V Plus - Problem with installing MediaExplorer, MediaSource e

Hi, this's my first thread on this forum and I hope the last. 2 days ago i bought mp3 player called Creative Zen V Plus 2 GB. It's refurbished and that's why i have no guide book. Anyway I think there won't be an answer for my problem there. It's more important that I have original CD with all software - even if it is not running unfortunately (probably due to my computer).
Well, I would like to transfer songs to my Zen but the only way I can do it, is to open Zen's folder in MyComputer and copy files there. Then I can listen them using player without any problem. The problem is that I can't use any of Creative programmes like MediaExplorer, MediaSource, so I can't even make playlists or converting video files. I just can't install them on to my computer. When I try to install any of software few errors appear:
"Installation is unable to continue because of one or more unresolved issues.
    Please contact suppot services.
[I] - Registry value StartMSu under Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce cannot be created.
[I] - Registry value CMSRegOu under Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce cannot be created.
Creative MediaSource 5 installation is unable to continue because of one ore more unresolved issues.
Registry value SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce , CTAutoUpdate cannot be created."
After this, the installation window closes and the computer asks me to connect my device. When I try, an error appears and the application closes.
I don't know what to do to install those programmes successfully. They would give me benefits and many possibilities to use my player in a better way.
I hope that some will help me.
PS. I've tried to install programmes from the original CD and from creative.com. Same results, so I think the problem is with my computer. Do anybody know what's going wrong Device Manager sees my player so it's connected for sure. Btw sorry for my english. I'm polish and I'm still learning
    Thanks for posts, anyway.

In WMP the Now Playing or the Library window on the right drag what you want to that & side the small tab in that window (now playing) click on the tab to Save as playlist (give it a name) on the library side(if using that pane)same thing except it will say untitled give it a name. In the sync tab you can do the same or on the left side at the top it says playlist you can click on the playlist name (if you've named them) & connect device to sync.Message Edited by coachop94 on 0-25-2008 2:3 PM
