ZEN 8GB SYNC MANAGER--Syncs ALL TRACKS or NO TRACKS

Using Sync Manager with my ZEN Vision:M I can sync SPECIFIED Playlists and Tracks from my Creative Media Organizer PC Library to my player.
However, with my new ZEN 8GB the Sync Manager offers only 2 choices: EITHER Sync ALL my Tracks to the Player OR Sync ALL my Tracks AND ALL my Playlists to the Player.
How can I Sync ONLY SPECIFIED Playlists from my PC Library to my ZEN 8GB player

more clarification:?I can sync the first 662 songs in my media library without problems. that's 3.8GB or so. once I hit that mark, nothing else syncs and the player freezes with that spinny icon telling me it's syncing. I can delete albums/songs, but I can't add anything else without completely reformatting the player, which is clearly pointless. any similar problems/suggestions? anyone?

  • Zen 8Gb: problems to find all so

    Hej all,
I have just recently purchased the Zen 8 Gb and uploaded many songs today. Somehow I am not able to locate them all, seems like some of my folders are not to be played ?!?! They are starting with a number, does any of you experience the same problem ?
I can thus find them in all tracks or create play lists for the folders on my computer and hereby play them, but I wonder why I cannot find the folder itself ?
    Thanks.

  • Zen Sync Manager doesn't work with Windows 7

    I have a Zen 6GB MP3 player, firmware version .2.03_0.03.0.
I recently upgraded my computer from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Sync Manager (looks like version 6.4.8.0, dated 7/7/2007) worked fine with Vista, and it even worked for a few days after I upgraded, but now it does not recognize that there is a player connected.
Zen Media Explorer still works, so I can drag and drop audio files to the Zen, but this is a bit of a pain. More importantly, I need to find a way to sync organizer (Outlook) data.
I have tried running Sync Manager in various compatibility modes (Vista, XP SP3, XP SP2), but it still will not recognize the player. From something I read in another post in this forum, I'm wondering if I need to uninstall Sync Manager and reinstall it in a compatibility mode? All my other applications work fine with Win 7, so I'm not that familiar with how to use compatibility mode properly.
    Thanks!

I tried every which way to solve this problem, and in the end contacted Ctreati've tech support. They advised the following:
"Please be advised that, currently, we do not have Creative Media Explorer (Sync Manager) and firmware updates available for ZEN on Windows 7 OS.
Creative is working constantly on updates for Windows 7 users who are using Creative products. These updates will be deli'vered from time to time on our website. We encourage you to often visit our support site, http://support.creative.com/ and forum page, http://forums.creative.com/ for product updates and announcements."
Frustrating; it looks like a matter of waiting ...

  • ZEN Sync Manager is

When I have my ZEN 8GB hooked up to my PC and try to upload more MP3s and movies the Sync Manager does not show that there are any files in the specified upload folder even though there are. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem.

Have you tried syncing with Windows Media Player instead?

Have I missed the point completely, or ?
    Please help

The Help file covers all versions of MediaSource including those designed for other products. I'm sure Sync Manager is just for use when you have a HDD player connected.
With a Zen Nano Plus you just transfer the files over manually.

We recently switched out computers and now my music including playlists etc. is on my dell dj mp3 player. Is there anyway to sync the Zen with the Dell? I tried the sync manager, but it will not recognize my dell.Message Edited by misfit_soul on 2-26-200705:34 PM

i don't think so, they are 2 compeltely different brands just move all files from Dell onto your computer's disk and then from disk onto the ZEN.

  • Problems with Sync Manager app & ZEN 32GB pla

    hi all.
I've just bought a 32GB Zen...nice player but already had to send one back that was DOA and now I have a problem I'd appreciate some help with.
Has anyone else had problems with the Sync Manager tool locking the Zen after manual syncs? Every time I use the sync manager with my Zen the sync appears to succeed but the Zen locks requiring a reset and then proceeds to rebuild the content incorrectly.
Is it possible to make ZENCast Organiser sync podcasts directly to an SD card rather than the ZEN Player?
Hopefully I'll get a little more response this time round...
btw I'm running a 32GB ZEN player with a 2GB microSD card loaded into a Sandisk SD adaptor on Win XP SP2.
    Thanks in advance.

I got my hopes up when I saw someone had replied to this at last! No nickc7, I've I'd no response to this issue at all, and even though I since installed the latest version of Zen Media Explorer the problem is still there. Oddly, if I format my Zen it let's me sync my contacts first time, but after that any attempts to resync fail. Most frustrating!
Would be nice if someone from Creative would take the time to respond to this bug

  • [ZEN V] Sync manager detects the player, firmware upgrade don

Hello, I've got a Creative ZEN V and I've delete the firmware from the recovery menu to reload new firmware. The syncmanager and the other creative products detects the player. When I'm running the program which installs the new firmware the program said: 'Your player is not connected'. But the player is connect! I can see the player on the windows device manager, and the sync manager. But the firmware tool doesn't see the player! My configuration:Windows XP SP2Media player 0 Creative has got a tool called 'MP3 recovery tool', this program downloads the correct firmware for your device, the recovery tool detects my ZEN V and download the correct firmware, after downloading the firmware install tool is running. And said also: 'Your player is not detect', it is strange the recovery tool detects the player and the firmware update don't! Please help me!

My God! Why Creative messed up like this with there software. Actually i was always happy but this...
I could install the firmware (2.0 - and without the steps descriped before i couldnt even do that) but still the player is shown in the file explorer, but no software will synchron or recognices the player.
Ohh, so many hours for nothing. But if I'll get news from creative - i will post.

  • If I import audio books into the music section of itunes it lists the books as albums and all the chapters as tracks fine when I sync them to my ipod classic, but not if I import them as audiobooks, any ideas please?

If I import audio books into the music section of itunes it lists the books as albums and all the chapters as tracks fine when I sync them to my ipod classic, but not if I import them as audiobooks and then sync them, any ideas please?

If you import the audiobook as an audiobook to your iTunes Library, it will be listed in the Books section of your Library. You may need to turn on Books in order to see them. If you cannot see the File/Edit... etc. menu, use CTRL B on your keyboard to make that menu bar appear. Then go to Edit/Preferences>Books and put a tick in the box.
But, if the imported audiobook shows up in the Music section of your iTunes Library, highglight the files (in iTunes) and select File/Get Info/Options/Media Kind>Audiobook. These files will now transfer to the Books section of iTunes.
Once on an iPod Classic, look under the Audiobooks menu. Again, you may need to change the settings in the Settings menus, in order to have the Audiobooks option shown on the Main Menu and/or the Music Menu.

  • Zen 8gb problem syncing organizer d

Using Creative Media Source and Sync Manager, I am trying to sync Outlook organizer data from my PC to my new Zen. The program (or player) doesn't find any contacts or tasks in the PC (although they are there, for sure) but it finds four Calendar items; however, when I begin sync, nothing is transferred to the Zen. Any ideas?
    many thanks

Followed the instructions in the FAQ and rebooted the player into recovery mode and ran a Disk Cleanup. Took a few minutes, hooked my player back up, and everything ran fine! Copying stuff like crazy! Thanks for the help kinda...

  • Sync manager err

Hey guys, I have a Zen Microphoto 8G and am using MediaSource to manage my music. Whenever I sync my player, it always takes a long time and then says "errors encountered". It also sometimes takes several sync attempts to get all of my playlists and tracks to transfer. I prefer to not do it manually, because I had the problems with duplicate tracks on my player. Is there anyway to find out what causes the errors so I can fix it and get clean syncs?

It is very misleading because the errors encountered can be various things including wrong format or duplicate track. Another error is simply "cancelled". This seems to happen for no reason at all as the same track can be transfered over if selected manually.
My guess is the program has some memory issues and can't cope with large syncs or it reaches a point that it get stuck in some state that it cacels all other transfers.
It doesn't seem to be due to a corrupt file or disk so unfortunately that means I am stuck with rubbish sync software. Does anyone know of alternati've sync software. I must admit i didnt realise that track storage on the player was in a proprietry format or else i would have bought something else. Oh well.
    Thanks

  • Sync Manager: Change sync fol

    Hey all,
I just recently got my Zen and am very happy with it in general. I had the Sync Manager set up to synchronize a certain folder with my player, however, and that folder has now moved to another harddri've. I can's seem to find a way to change this setting. Starting the Sync Manager just finds 0 tracks to synchronize and the path can't be set in settings. I looked for a registry entry that stores the path but couldn't find one. What am I missing?
    Jan

Click on the Sync Manage icon in the task bar
Choose Player Settings - Creative Zen
Under Settings you will find the folder/directory location. Cheers.

  • Creative Sync Manager weird bug (featur

    Hi,
I'm a new Zen Touch 20GB owner although I've been an avid 3G iPod owner before it died on me some time ago. Anyway, I love my new Zen Touch for what it worth but if only if the bundled software would perform better. Well, first of all, I find Creative MediaSource Organizer to be quite a decent audio player despite the weird 4-panes navigation scheme. I have no problem with it yet though.
However, the accompanying sync plugin/module for my Zen Touch is very disappointing.
Before I start ranting, here are some details:
    Mp3 Player:
    Zen Touch 20GB
    Date of purchase: 0/2/2005
    Firmware: 2.0.05 (PlayForSure)
    Creative MediaSource:
Version 3.30.2 with updated driver for PlayForSure-enabled Zen Touch
Now back to the issue. First, it takes more than 0 seconds to initialise. Loading a big chunk of drivers for all MP3 players Creative have ever produced or what? Second, it doesn't have an option to delete files in my zen player which are not in my PC library. Third, it REFUSES TO REPLACE MP3 files that are already in the player eventhough the files are listed before the syncing procedure. You see, I edit ID3 tags of my music collection all the time so it is natural for me to have my modified ID3 tags to reflect on the files on my Zen Touch as well. OK sure, when I fire up the sync manager, it manages to detect that I have all these files with updated ID3 tags needed to be copied over to my Zen Touch but why in the name of creativity wouldn't it copy the files just like it should do? The files are already in my Zen Touch? Just replace them! I know what I want to do so just replace them! Or at least give me the "Do you want to replace the files?" box with "Yes" or "No" button. Why do I have to go into the directory structure of my zen player and delete the files manually in order to get the latest files copied over?
I hope this issue is fixed soon. Don't give me those "download the freeware NomadSync etc" advices. Why bother releasing the bundled software if it cannot do such a simple job of replacing files already in the player.
p/s: I read the "read before you post" post and I already did some searches in the forum for previously posted posts on the issue above but it seems that I'm the first one to discover it. Or maybe everyone else just doesn't care and decided to suck it up?Message Edited by anatilmizun on -09-2005 02:57 AM

well, I don't mind having to use other program for not-so-common jobs, but this is about replacing/overwriting files that are already in the player. I did mention that the sync manager is smart enough to make a list of files that it thinks should be synced to my zen touch but why won't it copy the files over? Isn't it weird if you sit and think about it's Isn't the real purpose of sync manager to copy files from PC to Zen or vice versa so that both places have the exact set of files? So what if the destination already has the files? The files are different, as detected by sync manager, so it should just overwrite them. It is the basic job the Sync Manager is supposed to do, isn't it's Why should I use another program?
It's like sync manager saying "hey, I think the files X, Y and Z in your MP3 player are outdated so I am going to sync them. WHoaaaa! There are already X, Y and Z in your MP3 player so I'm going to leave them alone" Sense any weirdness or craziness about this hypotethic monologue?Message Edited by anatilmizun on -0-2005 0:09 AM

  • Creative Sync Manager:---- CRAS

The Creative Sync Manager crashes every time I plug in my Zen Micro (vers. ..0) with the message "Creative Sync Manager has encountered a problem".
    I have:
WindowsXP SP2 all patches to date.
    Zen Micro FW Vers. ..0
Installed Zen Micro Driver 2.0 and ZenCast (which includes Sync Manager vers. 6.4.6)
Please do not suggest I update firmware. I really don't want firmware 2.x.
Does anyone have any suggestions? It just doesn't seem right that the Sync Manager should CRASH when a Zen Micro is plugged in, no matter what the firmware version.
    Thanks,
    Unit_

    Same problem here.
Zen Vision M:30gb XP Pro laptop and Vista Desktop both do the same thing. Very frustrating, and making me feel foolish for not buying an iPod - I'm sorry but its true. I wasted 2 hours trying to get this to work yesterday, and even when it works, the podcasting implementation is poor. If they get this fixed, and then make it better, I may stay loyal but its not looking likely just now!
Great player... better than an iPod in my view... but horribly let down by the software.
