Zen Autoscan FM Tu

Hi - I have problems with the autoscan function on the FM Tuner - Zen Neeon. I can manually tune to various stations via the toggle wheel - a bit of a pain and a very slow process. Using autoscan it appears to only go between 95.5 and 96.0. Anyone had similar problem or a solution?

Hi,
i am also having the same problem.Fm is not working for. i tuned lot of stations but no use.but the other fm players are working fine.what i have to do plz help on this.

how do you get to change it to a certain fm station on a zen v plus 2 gb? i try to auto scan and it passes the station i want it at. thanks

You can manually tune a preset by pressing the 'play' button, then use left/right on the joystick to tune down/up in frequency. You can save the new frequency to the preset by pressing the 'back' button.
Autoscan probably misses the station you want because the signal strength is too low, so manually tuning might not get good results.Message Edited by daytona955 on 05-04-200703:7 AM

  • FM radio/ Zen Mi

Is their a way to preset or even acess channels that autoscan doesnt pick up. What im retty much asking is, is their a way to set the FM radio without useing autoscan?
    thanks
This is on my zen micro 5gig

    Yes.
Press and hold of FF or RW will result in the auto scan.
Lightly tapping the FF or RW buttons will skip one frequency change at a time in the direction you press.
You could FF or RW scan to the general range of the station you want then TAP the FF or RW button to get the auto scan to stop then fine tune by tapping. Once you have the frequency selected you can use the menu button then scroll to "Save As Preset" and select by tapping the middle of the volume slider.
Also to answer the next question. When you enter FM mode you can access your presets by tapping the Play/Pause button and then use the FF and RW buttons to cycle through them.

  • Zen Nano Plus/MuVo TX FM/MuVo V2

I'm contemplating buying a Creative MP3 player, but I've never had one before and I'd like to know about a couple of features. What's really pressing on my mind is if the players support folders, meaning if I can chose a folder and play all the songs inside, or if the player just takes all the songs in all the folders, sorts them alphabetically and plays them.
I want a player with GB memory, and I'd like to use it as a USB storage, too, so it should support other filetypes. Radio would be great, and I'd like to know if the radio also functions when I'm on holiday in another country, maybe even on another continent.
Until now, it seems that the Zen Nano Plus, the MoVo TX FM and the MuVo V200 are my most likely choices, plus, I like their design and they're not too expensi've. But before I buy any of them, I'd really like to know all the differences between them, so I can make the right decision. It would be great if you could help me with that.
Thanks! AldaraMessage Edited by Aldara on 0--2005 07:08 PM

I can offer some questions answered for the N200/Nano Plus, there are many others here who are more knowledgeable on the flash players.
The Nano Plus does allow you to pick each folder and play them, depending on your play mode (shuffle, normal, repeat folder etc), the folder will play how it's been told to. But, the songs are played in alphanumeric order (Eg, ,2,3,a,b,c, so you'd need the songs like 0-track.mp3, 02-track.mp3 etc). I think all Creative Flash players work that way actually.
The Line-in on the Nano Plus isn't all that good, I wouldn't really use it tbh.
It can be used a flash dri've (as all the others can)
The Radio generally on the Nano/N200 (mine's an N200, so I'm not sure how much exactly it'd differ, but they are the same player, just rebranded) is usually very good for me. I'm in London, and with the autoscan feature, I pick up the radio stations I want to listen to. I did recently bring my player to Mauritius where I did also get a good reception (in the Capital and around the Island, not where I was staying, because that's well... on a hill, I never really did try it). I also tried it out in Australia, Perth, where I actually got nothing at all, not radio station on autoscan. If I did manually go to the radio stations I did get a muffled sound. This was only where I was staying, I didn't really have time to mess around with an mp3 player while I was out.
Hope that answers some questions, feel free to ask more.

  • FM locks up my Zen Microph

Ok..maybe someone can help me here. I have the 8mg Zen Microphoto, and everytime I go to the FM radio it will lock up. Even in autoscan or manual. I have to pull the battery to get out of it. I have the latest firmware upgrade vers. .3.0. I've seen this problem asked about in other areas but no responses. Did I spend the extra money for a MP3wFM?player for nothing?

I am here to help if I can, because I just went through the same issues and after reading almost every post on this site, I finally got mine up and working again, with just a few minor glitches I am still trying to work out. First off I am going to send you to ?http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/? This is where I believe I solved the problem that you are encountering. Click on the blue Autoupdate word you see under "Would you like to use Creative's AutoUpdate service?"? Follow the instructions from there. I didn't realize that I needed to update my Zen and so I had several updates listed that I needed to update on. They may list a couple of the same updates--just make sure you only check the box of the most recent (latest) update. This may take a while to get through all these downloads, but man it is worth it!!?Keep me updated and Good Luck!!?Check out my post from /2 and see if have any answers to my questions.

  • Zen Micro Radio Problems -No Sou

I just bought a Zen Micro with the .0.03 firmware. It works fine playing mp3's but when I try the radio I hear nothing. Tried using autoscan and it picks up a bunch of frequencies that I know are not radio stations and I hear nothing on them either.
I upgraded to the new firmware (.02.05) but still no joy.
The radio worked once for about a second when I was trying to tune in stations, but that was only a short blast of static, the rest of the time its just quiet even with volume turned right up.
    What gives?

ya just changed a sennheiser ear piece and it seem abit shorter than creative orginal ones..
    and some stations becomes hissing....
as I know the FM antenna is the wire of ur earpiece.
but have to give and take , cos sennhesier earpiece sound more better....

  • Creative Zen Sl

i bought a zen sleek in august last year, since then I've had two replacements. The first player gathered so much dust between the screen cover and the LCD screen that it obscured the menu, the second player had the wrong firmware and was incompatible with my existing software from the first player, and the last player has recently frozen on me.
over the months I've owned a Sleek, its been in Creatives testing labs more than I've had it. Not only did they manage to send me a replacement with the wrong firmware (i assume it was meant for the American market and so had a slightly different version of firmware) but they managed to almost lose that player when i sent it off to be replaced for the second time.
they have misled me concerning refund requests, sent the replacements to the wrong address after i specified a new one, bribed me with an in-line control i didn't need and refused but which they still sent (also to the wrong address) and now after three players they are refusing to refund me on the grounds that the latest player has a very small shatter in the plastic screen.
they don't have a complaints address on this site, and the phone number for their customer help people is hidden on this link at the bottom off the main page, and is only meant for people with a MegaWorks 50D speaker system they are recalling. They are also about to phase the phone support out completely btw, and anyone who has dealt with their email support system will know how painfully slow it is and how every time you get a reply its from a different person, making it extremely inefficient.
if i were you, i would think twice before buying a Creative player.....they bring too many players out each year, and that means none of them are well designed. The Sleeks have a design flaw in the screen which traps loads of dust, and their customer support is terrible and its set to get worse.Message Edited by WilliamLockwood on 07-20-2006 03:53 AM

hey im completely in your boat, i too bought a zen sleek in august last year, i have sent it back 3 times due to dust getting under the screen and 3 days ago my player wouldnt load new firmware so it was rendered useless ( oh yeah an it had dust under the screen also but i'd learned to li've with it ), i sent it back yesterday but even worse timing, i am going on holiday on the 28th an i dont know how im going to cope without my mp3 player as i needed it more than ever (the sort of reasons i bought it was to take on holidays and stuff). So presuming creative will send me a new one by the 28th i will be ok. I was planning on buying a creative vision:m but i've been put off so im gona wait till/if that toshiba gigabeat s comes out in the uk.

  • Creative Zen Style M300. My story.

    Hello to all,
The following is a list of features that, in my humble opinion, every decent MP3 reader must have:
    1) Must be SMALL. Images and video must be avoided because they increase screen size: MP3 reader is for playing music, I use it during jogging and I need to hold it in a single hand. If I want to see images and videos I use my smartphone.
    2) Must have a great capacity even if you play only music. I usually buy 8 GB players and expand it with 16 GB SDHC card. 24 Gb is enough for me.
    3) Must have a battery duration of, at least, 15 hours.
    4) Must have a processor fast enough to have a good response time.
    5) MUST support browsing by folder.
    6) Must have FM radio.
    7) Buttons must be responsive and placed in right places in order to be easily accessible with a single hand.
    8) The output must be sufficiently loud.
    9) Must support MP3 and WMA.
    10) Must have a good SNR.
One year ago the only player that fits all these requirements was Sansa Clip Plus. A very well designed MP3 reader (in terms of features). BUT, my first Sansa Clip Plus battery dead after 6 months. At the time no other valid alternative exists... so I buy a second Sansa Clip Plus. After some months, it stop to works with apparently no reason. How sad. Look like that battery and/or power system of Sansa Clip Plus is very poor. So I have tried to find a valid alternative. I have tried the Creative Zen Style M300. But it lacks some important features. Referring to the previous list:
    1) The size is acceptable.
    2) OK
    3) OK
    4) Not fast and responsive as the Sansa Clip Plus but could be accepted (Sansa Clip Plus is very very fast).
    5) This feature is absent and IMHO is a totally wrong decision. I have tons of MP3 organized in folders and now I have to reorganize they differently. In addition the reader come with no software and I don't know how to edit ID3 tag.
    6) OK
    7) Touch buttons are a really bad choice for a MP3 reader. They are not very responsive and badly located (hard to be handled by a single hand). To be more comfortable the volume buttons should be placed on the left side (usually managed by forefinger and middle finger of the right hand).
    8) Volume is poor. Equalizer have no effect if your volume is near the maximum level (31), because the output power is limited. Look like Creative limit power for European models. Sansa Clip Plus also limit power, but you can choose your country in the configuration menu and if you select a country outside Europe, you can overcome that problem.
    9) OK
    10) OK
I wish to report my experiences hoping that Creative designers can read it.
    - A disappointed customer

    Hi,
Most music (classical) is from ripped CD's, some albums from eMusic. If needed I use Mp3tag.
The problem is that the pics seem to show up or not at random. It's not a big deal really, just odd.
I don't have this problem with my Zen X-Fi 2. Only problem there is pics for .flac files.

  • Creative Zen Review With the AudioBook Listener In Mi

Here is a copy of my review of the Creative Zen which I just published on the amazon.com mp3 player forum in the thread I started over a year ago entitled "What's the best player for AudioBooks " It is the longest thread in the forum with little indication of slowing down, and it can usually be found as the first thread in the forum.
    http://www.amazon.com/tag/mp3%20play...MxM6KCQW5Q9B6C
I wound up getting the Zen 4GB a few weeks ago but delayed posting until I figured out how I liked it.
    - I like that it has a big screen with big text that I could get by using without my reading glasses (old eyes) in a pinch. That is a very toughtful touch I have't seen on any other players (not that I've seen them all.)
    - The big screen will also show pictures and videos which I don't care much about but is a nice feature if desired.
    - The big screen doesn't come with a cover and it will get scratched up fast. It took me a while to figure this out so my screen got a little scratched up before I realized it.
Consider screen covers mandatory. They are sold seperately in a 3 pack for around $8. This is so important the device ought to have come with at least one screen cover in the box, even if it raised the price $2. My screen cover has been on for a few weeks and shows no sign of wear or coming loose. I did combine it with a rubber device cover I got on amazon for $3 which protects the whole device and covers the edges of the screen and screen protector. The unit is now protected. The cover comes with a little strap and D-Ring clip which is good for hanging onto some piece of clothing.
    - It has a built in battery which is good. It supposedly takes a long time to recharge but that is not an issue for me. I just plug it in to a USB port with the included 4" long cable and it has plenty of time to charge during the day for my use. A fast AC charger is available at extra cost (~$25 I think.)
    - Defect: The unit shuts off after being on pause for a few minutes (good) but it starts up at the beginning of the track when you restart (bad.) If you turn it off, it restarts where you left off as it should. This would not be an issue for music listeners, but it is for audiobook listeners when the track may be an hour to several hours long.
    - Defect: Bookmarks are not at the top of the Menu list and although some menus are customizable, the one with Bookmarks is not.
    - Defect: You can't get to Bookmarks when in the book. You have to back up to Music Menu, click to get to menu, and scroll 2 spots to get to Bookmarks. Not a deal breaker when you get used to it, but clearly not designed properly with the audiobook user in mind.
    - Sound quality: very good. Even with music, very nice.
    - Included headphones: Nice sound. They fall out of my ears and get tangled up a lot but I think thats true of most earbud headphones. I'm going to get the Sony Sport headphones I've had before with a foldable over the head strap.
    - Bookmarks: 0. Plenty for me. (Who listens to more than 0 books at a time )
    - Price: $90 for 4GB. I thought that was quite reasonable.
SUMMARY: With a few menu enhancements and the ability to return to it's place after a pause/shutdown, I'd consider this device close to perfect for the audiobook listener.

Try going into "Control Panel->Administrati've tools" and clicking on "Computer Management". Find "disk management" in the left pane and click it. Your Stone should be in the right somewhere. I think you need to right click, then "choose dri've letter and paths" and give it a dri've letter with the "add" button. Let us know if that works.

  • Creative Zen 32GB - Is it Dead?

Hi. I bought a Creative Zen 32gb Flash player in January 2009.
It was mostly OK for the first year or so. By then, it was almost full.
Last summer, it began crashing on me every so often. I assumed it was just because it was almost full, but as time went on it crashed more and more.
Sometimes it would play slightly garbled songs, almost like in the good old days when your cassette deck would chew up your D-90s.
When using the locking function, it would crash completely, requiring the judicious use of a pin to reset it.
Then it would crash when plugging it into headphones or the cable connecting to my AUX port on my car stereo.
The other day, it crashed and I thought - right, its been going a couple of years now, I'll back it up and then go into recovery mode, clean up the memory and then reboot, as recommended in the user guide. I tried backing up the player but it got about halfway through and crashed out.
I then thought to hell with it - I've got most of my music backed up anyway, and the clean up might not mess with it too much, so I tried to follow the cleanup instructions but everytime I let go of the Play button, it would crash out.
If I held the play button down, it would work, but the buttons are so close together, if I changed pressure on the play button while selecting "clean up", it would crash out. Still, I thought I'd managed it but it would not restart or dock, or pretty much do anything except let me go into recovery mode (while pressing Play, of course).
I then thought I'd just reformat the player - again, through the recovery menu since it would not dock with my PC (Win Vista, 32bit). That made no difference. It would not start, would not dock etc etc.
I then thought I would upgrade the firmware, downloaded it from Creative, and managed to get it to go so far, before it crashed out. And that's it - I can just about get it to start, sometimes, and then the screen will go black, or white, or red and black striped once. It will not dock at all. I can press reset as much as I like but the best I can get it to do is get to the recovery menu for a few seconds before crashing, or I can get it to display the Creative logo for a few seconds before, again, it crashes.
Its sat right now with a black screen and the blue light on. I cannot turn it off, or get any response from it at all.
So, is this now a dead mp3 player? Is it likely a hardware fault? If firmware/software, is there any way to fix this or should I just chalk this up to experience and accept that ?60 odd of mp3 player just isn't built to last very long?
And if its dead, what to replace it's I want Creative stuff to be better than it seems to be, and I am loathe to buy iPod. Sony? Wife has one and its fine, but not enough storage. Any recommendations?

I've had my Zen32GB for a year and have loved it up to this morning. I added a few photos to it and now its been stuck in "Rebuilding" for the last two hours. I can dock it and get into it, copy files, etc, but it will not play. I have been using a handy pin to reset it, then it goes back into Rebuilding. It doesn't appear to be a hardware problem as the buttons were working fine. A lost cause?
On the recovery mode screen, can you try doing a CleanUp>Reboot?

  • MediaSource Recognition Problem? (Zen Vision:

OK, I had a Zen 20GB for the last year and I loved it to bits. Worked great, but just before Christmas it fell in some water and died . I replaced it with a 60GB Zen Vision:M and didn't mind too much because I had less than GB of space left and would have had to replace it soon anyway.
Now onto my question. With my Zen 20GB when I used Media Source (I think v.3 came with it but I can't remember) it would let me search my Zen and edit tracks in it. The search function was IMO fantastic, especially with a music collection as large as mine. Now when I connect my ZV:M it connects fine. I've transferred plenty of music without bother using Windows Media Player.
However, when I open Media Source (both v.3 and v.5) it doesn't give me any option to explore my Zen like it did when I had my 20GB. I can still explore it using the Zen Explorer, but since this doesn't let you edit the properties for several tracks at a time I find it very frustrating.
Also, if I chose to "Transfer Music", "Transfer Playlist" or "Sync Music" in Media Source I get the message "No Creative mp3 player is detected. Please connect your mp3 player and try again."
Now, I know it's connected since I can explore the contents fine in Zen Explorer and I can transfer to it using WMP. Is there something I haven't installed correctly that is stopping Media Source from recognising my player? It just seems strange since it seems to be the only application not working for it.
Thanks for the help (and sorry if this has been covered else where. I searched but couldn't find anything).

You must also download and install the corresponding MediaSource plugin for your MP3 player in order for MediaSource 5 to detect your MP3 player.

I deleted the file and reconnected my device and it quickly grew to 600kb. I'm not sure exactly what you need and there didn't seem to be anything interesting at the end of the log, but I did find the following lines which, from what I can, is from the point when WMP tried to establish a connection with the device and failed.
