Zen cart, php & Dreamweaver

I have used Dreamweaver in the past for basic web design
using html.
I need to make some adjustments top a site which uses Zen
Cart which I believe uses php
Is there anyone who is familiar with zen cart who could
advise me if Dreamweaver would be suitable
Thanks

I don't get it. What good would Cartweaver do someone whose
job it is to
make edits to an existing site with a different shopping
cart?

You can try to click on the "live data view" icon on the top
    bar of page window.
But I don't think you can *change* live data view in design
view, i.e. drag the edge of a PHP
generated div to make it wider. You'll need to edit PHP in
    the code.

  • CS5 - Zen Cart database question

I just upgraded to Dreamweaver CS5, which is supposed to make it easier to edit things like the Zen Cart for us WYSIWYG people. I have somehow managed to set up a testing server, at least the testing server shows up, and seems to have all of the stuff. But when I open index.php, I get the message, "This page may have dynamically-related files that can only be discovered by the server".
When I click "Discover" I get, "Dynamically-related files could not be resolved because the site definition is not correct for this server". I have the PHP/MySQL  model (which Zen Cart uses) as the server model.
Any advice for a WYSIWYG guy? Sorry if it's a dumb question...

    No dumb questions here.
Do you have Apache and  MySql running?
Did you define the correct URL in your Site Definition Settings? (see screenshot)
    On windows, it's http:/localhost/YourSite/

How do I add an already built Shopping Cart  (PHP and MYSQL) (Cartweaver 4) application to a page in a Muse site? Do I have to export the Muse site as Html to dreamweaver and them use the extension to bring the shooping cart in or can I do it directly in Muse?

We have experimented with doing this with some good success. We have been working on adding Cartweaver to a Facebook page by essentially adding a Cartweaver store to Facebook in an iframe.  The "store" would be pages with just your basic product display, cart, and checkout functionality, with none of the "window dressing" - just use CSS to match the color and general look of the design it's being added to.
The one problem with this for Facebook is when it comes time to check out toy have to leave Facebook and go to your server where an SSL is in place.  Fortunately in this situation this would not be the case, you can have an SSL installed to the root of your site and you'll be okay.
This is an interesting project.  Give this a try and let me know how it goes and if you run into any snags, please make a post on the Cartweaver forums: http://forums.cartweaver.com - I'm really confident that this can work, and not only work, but work well.
Looking forward to hearing how this goes, and being of what help we can.

  • Please help with Zen Cart

I have a running website already done in Dreamweaver and a
shopping cart with Zen cart. So far I have the two linked so buyer
can go from the website to zen shopping cart. But my issue is how
do I intigrate the two so they can flow smoothly?
For example, right now, the buyer would go to the web and
find something they would like to order, they click on the order
button, it takes them to the product page in zen shopping cart.
Since we are doing wholesale and would like to capture all traffice
plus like to give returning customers an easy way to start
ordering, we had set it up so the buyer would only see pricing and
quanity discount if they log in. Once they log in, the problem
come. It takes them to the main home zen shopping page. That means
they have to search for what they wanted to order again.
Anyone knows how to solve the problem? PLEASE HELP!!!
I hope I made myself clear.

I wrote a small store for my wife
    http://www.direct2usales.com
    using PayPal
Following the instructions at PayPal, each "add to cart" link
on the store consists of many lines of code which are passed to the
PayPal shopping cart... including Product Description and Price
Does your Zen cart include such a function? (with example
code you can modify for each of your store items?)

  • I am trying to get Zen-Cart on my mac mini server lion 10.6

I am trying to get Zen-Cart on my mac mini server lion 10.6 and am stuck getting mysql installed.
Bassiclly what I am trying to do is have a cart for my site I host locally  I used iWeb to creat the site and it has no cart plug in I am aware of which makes it useless for ecommerce.  Other than that it is nice to use maybe im missing somethin?  So I am looking for solutions to get Zen Cart installed (easilly) to include mysql since OSX does not have it.  Some questions
Is there a good free packaged installer for mysql and or zencart?
is there a better OS cart solution for OS X ?
Can iWeb be updated by me to host an e cart, or is there a plug in I can get?

  • PHP/Dreamweaver

    Hi everybody:
I am new in PHP and want to use my best editing friend
Dreamweaver. But I need a communty that helps me about PHP (with or
without DW help because I think I know DW well enough after 7 years
using that). Do you know any good PHP community that helps me start
it as a novice? Some good community as adobe (former dear

    Thanks

There are quite a few people here who are knowledgeable about
    PHP,
particularly in the Dreamweaver context. So this is
    definitely one place
that you should put on your list.
If you're new to PHP, you may find my book "Foundation PHP
    for
Dreamweaver 8" helpful. In addition to showing you how all
    the
Dreamweaver server behaviors work, it teaches a solid
    foundation of
understanding PHP. Dreamweaver does a lot of automatic code
    generation,
but it can't do everything, so it's useful to know how to
    tweak the code
    to your own requirements.

  • Zen Encoder = PHP ... ? = JSP

Do I still need to encrypt our JSP scripts to prevent anyone from copying the scripts from the webserver?
    ex:
PHP uses Zen Encoder for encrypting its scripts...does JSP have a counterpart for that?
    Thanks.

You need to configure your server so that JSPs are evaluated on the server and all the client sees is the resulting HTML. And that's usually the default configuration -- nothing else is of any use. Of course a little server security wouldn't hurt, so that nobody can get files from your system unless it's via the web server. Once you do that, encrypting the JSPs is pointless.
Anyway, I have never seen a feature in any servlet container that will decrypt a JSP before executing it, so encryption would probably be a headache to administer too.

  • Shopping Cart php (no database)

Anyone know of a shopping cart that doesn't rely on getting the information from a database?
I have a lot of working out AFTER the information has been sourced from the database to end up with final prices/information etc
I guess what I'm looking for is a cart that is able to take 'static' form values although they are generated with php and dump that in a cart then pass that over to a payment gateway.
All the shopping carts that I have looked at seem at some point to source the final information from a database, where the information is set in concrete.
Obviously the Paypal cart does what I need as it doesnt have access to a local database to source any info. It just takes it directly from the form value fields - so that's the kind of workflow I'm looking for.
No hosted carts either as I need to be able to manipulate the code to blend in with the site design.
    Cheers

  • Common utility library for multiple websites (PHP/Dreamweaver)?

I am working on several PHP-based websites, and would like to
    use the same utilities in
them all. The local directories for the individual websites
    are all subdirectories of the
    website D: Websites.
I could fairly readily put the utilities in a website D:
    Websites/Utilities, put a copy of
this directory in the root directory of each website on the
server, and tell PHP to load
the utilities from the correct place, according to whether
I'm running on the local or the
remote server, but Dreamweaver does not seem to have any
provision which would allow me to
use it to upload new versions of the utilities from the
Common local area to the remote
servers. Is there any way to do this, or will I have to write
    a special PHP utility?

Dreamweaver is site based, and it works on the assumption
    that the site
folder is the server root. This was appropriate in the early
    days of
Dreamweaver when sites were created with static HTML and
    everything
needed to be in the server root. It's less convenient when
    building
dynamic sites that rely on libraries located outside the
    server root.
Several beta testers have urged Adobe to improve the site
    definition
setup so that libraries outside the server root can be easily
    maintained
and uploaded from within Dreamweaver. Unfortunately, Adobe
    has not
changed the way sites are defined to meet this increasingly
    common
scenario. The more people who submit formal requests for this
    to happen,
the more likely Adobe is to respond. Submit a feature request

One place you could start is with my book "Foundation PHP for

  • Zen-Coding for Dreamweaver CS5

    Folks,
I have discovered a great tool to optimize our time when we are coding: Zen-Coding. You can discover more about it reading the dzone´s article and the Smashing Magazine´s article.
The problem is that It didn´t work in my Dreamweaver CS5. I could install but nothing works. I read that it is possible to access it through Commands>Expand Abbreviation but this doesn´t appear for me.
    Could anyone help me, please?
    All the best.

A friend also informed me about this issue and called me up to help view the problem. i understand that most applications that run on both mac system and Windows usually have a problem of 'ctrl' and 'cmd' respectively.
You will need to search for the configuration configuration folder of the version of your dreamweaver. For example: if you are using version CS6, "c:\users\[computer name]\appdata\roaming\adobe\dreamweaver cs6\en-us\configuration\menus\menus.xml".
These are few things to note:
you might need to enable 'show hidden folder' to see the 'appdata'
if you use the run button from start up windows, you will notice that the command will stop @ dreamweaver (bcos there might be a dreamweaver folder b4 dreamweaver CS6) and then  you will need to go back to 'adobe' and then to dreamweaver CS6 and continue to the destination file.
Lastly, it will also depend on the language of the dreamweaver that was installed; for the example that is above it is clear that en-us was installed on the system.
You will now need to open the menu.xml file using either notepad or wordpad or any text editor then search for zencoding
    change
    <menuitem id="DWMenu_Commands_ZenCoding_expandAbbreviation" name="_Expand Abbreviation" key="Cmd+," file="Commands/ZenCoding.html" arguments="'expand_abbreviation'" />
    to
    <menuitem id="DWMenu_Commands_ZenCoding_expandAbbreviation" name="_Expand Abbreviation" key="Choose your key (e.g. Tab or tab)" file="Commands/ZenCoding.html" arguments="'expand_abbreviation'" />
Save the file and restart your dreamweaver.
try div#name and it should give you <div id ="name"><div>
I hope this works for you.

  • Php, dreamweaver and cms

I have the big project website that must be publish in june
    2009.
So I have a lot of time now to learn it by myself.
I'm very new in the online. Which is the best of all if I
have to learn to do the website.
Cms I think its the easiest way for me and I love Drupal
    Text
But in the future what is the best to learn for
    webmaster.

    Hi
How big is big is the questions? For a small site content
    seed is ok
    (www.contentseed.com)
I would suggest you supply some more detailed information ie.
    How many
pages? ecommerce? Lots of animation required?
As to how to learn, ask lots of questions and buy a good book
    on HTML and
CSS. Dreamweaver, Expressions etc are good but cannot not
    make up for a
    knowledge of hand coding.
A good start are the templates supplied by Dreamweaver and by
Projectseven.com, try to grasp how and why things are done
    and move from
    there.
Both this and projectseven forums are good and full of
    helpful people
