Zen Cast Organizer? Zen X

Has anyone downloaded the latest Zencast organizer? its in the download section released 2day. i was wondering if anyone downloadded it and seen an improvement. Does Zen Cast organizer load everything quicker to view ur music on ur computer? or is it the same. Basically im trying to ask . SHould i Download Zen Cast? because i haven't downloaded it at all. Please respond.

I would also like to know how the Program works with non-video playing players, like the Zen Xtra. There are a lot of angry Zen Vision:M owners who are beyond frustrated with the program and it converting MP3 -> AVI.
When it transfers the files to the device, where does it put them, how to you get to them on the player?
I am thinking if it would be possible, with some kind of registery hack or something to convince the software that the device it is copying the podcasts to is a Zen Xtra, or simialr, and it can't play video.Message Edited by alloneword on 09-09-2006 02:47 PM

  • Zen CAST organizer: the triumph of the creat

Ok, can someone tell me the meaning of this stupid program?
When I saw it I thought that finally Creative labs released a new organizer to resolve the HUGE problems they kindly gave us with the last stupid firmware.
But once again, Creative showed us how incompetent they are... they just made a stupid commercial thing to copy Apple.
And this new organizer is totally useless, because all you can do is download music from their affiliated partners (under payiment of course) and transfer it in an arcane and not customizable way to your MP3.
Is this progress? I don't think so. The original organizer of the 2004 was WAY better and more advanced then this crappy thing.
Good job Creative, instead of progressing you are going down!

    To jassy:
thank you very much for your advices, I checked the programs online and it seems that they can be a good alternati've to our old, dead and beloved Media Organizer.
But still I think it's very sad that we have to pay third parties to recover the functionality of our beloved Zen Xtra because Creative isn't able (or doesn't care) to give us a decent solution after the mess they caused with the last firmware.
I think Creative should care more of her customers beacuse, after all, it's thank to us if she got so much success in the last years. I read the posts in this forum and I saw how many people are disappointed. And I bet that a lot of these people are old Creative customers like me.
So why don't they try to make a Creative Media Organizer with all the functionalities of the old one (the pre-firmware upgrade)? Is it so hard to make it's I don't think it's impossibile, because Winamp and other third parties software can reach similar results.
Maybe it's me, but I don't see the point in releasing this new, useless organizer that doesn't fix ANY of the problems that you can find in the many threads around here...

  • Zen Micro or Zen Touch!!! I NEED PEOPLES ONPINION

i dont know wether to get the zen micro or zen touch. i've seen both of them. they both look awesome but i cant choose. i like that the zen touch has a 24 hr batt life. but i like the zen micros touch pad.so what should i choose. please help me!! thanks for any help!!

well, i own a Zen Touch and so far all i have had with it has been one problem after another. first it was the driver, then the organizer program wouldnt handle the player, power gets drained after 3 hours (transfering) and not i cant get music to transfer over to it (couldnt from the begining) and the support people are at a loss on why it isnt working. i love the design of the touch and it is a perfect size storage and physicaly. that is why i bought it but now im thinking it is too much trouble to bother with. i may opt for the xtra but if u like the micro id say go for that instead of the touch. i havent heard of as many program problems from it as the touch.

  • Which would be a better purchase, Zen Touch or Zen Mic

Okay for christmas this year I am asking for an mp3 player. Ive done my research and decided between the Zen Touch or Zen Micro so that I may take advantage of Napsters music downloading service. Now my delima is which would be a better purchase. Ive read reviews on amazon, epinions, and cnet. As far as the Micro goes its a love/hate type of thing while i've read only good reviews of the Touch. Now the Touch doesnt seem as popular and for what reason I dont know. Also i've noticed the Micro has a great number of more accessories than the Zen Touch. Now taking into consideration accessories and durability which would you say is the better LONG term purchase?
    -Thanks

If you are planning on using subscriptoin music, I would go with the Touch, as it is a 20GB player and you have unlimited music to download (more space=more music )
Don't get it wrong, the Micro is awesome, I would have got it if I didn't have so much music.
And my guess as to why the Touch is not as popular as the Micro is that people don't like the way it looks and it's size (which is understandable, because of it's 24hour battery).
The Touch is also a great value, because it comes with an AC power cable (the Micro used to come with this when it first came out, but now it is sold separatley), and a carrying pouch (I replaced mine with a better because you can't aceess the MP3 player while it is in the pouch, making it a bit inconvenient). On top of it all, the 20GB version sells for around $200. And with the new firmware, the "over-sensiti've" touchpad that many reviews claim is now taken care of, and it is as easy to use as the Zen Micro's touchpad .
All in all, it is down to what you want:
a 5GB MP3 player that looks cool and comes in 0 different colors
or a 20GB player that comes with a few extra acessories. Both are around the same price (the Micro may be $20 cheaper, if it is on sale).

  • Differences Zen NX, Zen Touch and Zen 2

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me what the main differences are between the Zen NX, The Zen touch and the Zen 20GB? I've been looking into these three models for a while now, but haven't found any major differences. My main goal is to have my entire music collection on the player, and I would like to be able to sort my music on genre or in playlists. But as far as I know, all of the players I just named are able to do that. Which one would be the best one to go for?
    Thanks,
    Peter

  • Zen Micro Organizer Functi

    Hi to all!
I've been enjoying my Micro. :smileyvery-happy: Thanks CREATIVE! So far, I've had no battery problems. One bar lasted about 3-4 hours for me.
However, I'd like to know how to use the organizer functions. I've only managed to import contacts. How do you add/change tasks? It says use Microsoft Outlook. Is Microsoft Outlook Express the same? Because I can't seem to find anything on it that says add/change tasks (or the like of it). Please let me know. Thanks so much. I'm a rather forgetful person, so the reminders would be a major plus. :smileytongue:
Also, how do you activate the alarm? And how do you set a certain tune/album to wake you up in the morning?
    Thanks again.

    Hi Billsbabe,
First of all, let me answer your last question
You can activate the alarm this way:
Go to the main menu (press Back a few times), then select Extras, then Date & Time. If you press the Options button (right corner on the Micro), you'll get the option to set the alarm. Set the audio option to Play Any Track. If you select a particular track or album and have that as your Now Playing list, it'll play that song as the alarm (or one of the songs in the list).
You can find detail on how to use the organizer functions in the User's Guide. If you install the Zen Micro on your system (using the CD), you can go to Start> Programs> Creative> Creative Zen Micro> User's Guide. A section in the guide is called "Using Zen Micro's Organizer Features". It's probably best to look over that first as it should cover a lot of your questions, but if you have any specific questions or need more information after that, please post again.

  • Zen Micro organizer and Zen touch physical s

Well, I just bought a zen xtra and went through hell with it so i had to take it back and now im a little weary about getting ANY MP3 player, but i've decided im going to give it another try.
i have a few simple questions:
the organizer on the micro is very appealing to me (im amazingly disorganized), the way the site describes it makes it sound like i could pull up my organizer in the middle of class and put something like "paper due Feb22." Yet it also says that outlook is required. So do i have to be at home synced up with outlook to use my organizer or can i add/remove things in the middle of nowhere?
Also, how large is the 20gb zen touch compared to the 30gb zen xtra? i dont mean storage, im talking about physical dimensions. according to the specs the touch is slightly smaller than the xtra, but i was wondering if its shape made much of a difference
how well does the FM tuner work on the micro? can the micro be hooked up to a stereo that has an mp3 input? how much space does the voice recorder use on the micro? say i recorded a 45 minute lecture, would that be almost a gigabyte?
thanks for all your help guys!

The Zen Touch is not as big as it looks. The pictures are very decieving.
Syncing the Micro with Outlook is very easy using the sync manager. You cannot add new entries on the player itself (I don't see how you could easily even if the option was there), they'll have to be added into Outlook first.
The FM tuner on the Micro is not bad, it uses the headphones as an antenna. Reception highly depends on the area you li've in. Haven't tried voice recording yet, so can't comment on that. But a little extra is the ability to record from the FM radio.

  • Zen Micro/Organizer/disappear prob

Okay, here's the problem.... I recently deleted my music on my Zen Micro to start from Scratch, you know, clean it up. So I start adding music to my playlist. Suddenly, the songs are not on the playlist. They're in the "music" folder, but they don't exist in the playlist on mediasource organizer. I unplugged my Micro and checked the playlist - sure enough, nothing. But in the "All tracks" folder the music is there. I also noticed if I drag and drop one song at a time with a few seconds between each song, it'll load the songs in the playlst. But the second I select 2 songs, drag it in the playlist, they are shown as "completed" in the transfer window, but then nothing shows up in the playlist. AND, if there's already music in the playlist, they disappear too. What the heck is going on? For the last 3 weeks, I've been able to load and delete music perfectly, so why is this doing it now?Any help is appreciated!

Did you also update to a newer version of the Media Explorer?

  • Micro media explorer not recognizing zen micro, organizer and Windows does.

I recently purchased a Micro 6, did all program installs. etc. and could never get it to work properly, exchanged it for another, had all the problems to get it recognized by Windows etc. and through this site, managed to get compatable with zen organizer and windows media player0, but the micro media explorer refuses to see it! I checked the registry and noticed that the two units are registered there (usb), could that be the problem, and if so ,how do I correct it's
It seems to me that I uninstalled the first unit, that this not clear the registry of it also?
    Thanks in advance.

I have KINDA the same problem. The Zen Media Explorer doesn't reconize my device and I don't know HOW to make lists etc in the MediaSource Organizer (is there any tutorial f?r it or something? i need lots of help there.. how to make lists and how to get em into the Zen).
I've had to copy / paste music to my zen manually.. which takes longer than necessary and I can't make fancy lists etc.. Help would be very appreciated :/
Oh, and I have version 2..02 if that makes any diffrence.
    Thanks.

  • Zen Touch: Organize Albums in hierarchical w

    Hey guys,
a question: is it possible to organize albums (or playlists, songs) on a Zen Touch player in an hierarchical way?
The idea is, to have two top directories, one for me, one for my wife.
Within one of the directories, we would like to have a directory for "Audio Books", in that one a directory for "Harry Potter", and so on...
If this is not possible: What would be an alternati've way to organize albums?
    Thanks
    Ulf

  • Windows XP driver problem - Nomad Zen Xtra and Zen To

I have both a Nomad Zen Xtra 60GB and a Zen Touch 20GB, both of which were working fine with my Windows XP Pro SP2 computer until a couple of days ago. I had recently put firmware 2.0.03 onto the Zen Xtra, and was using the drag-and-drop method in Windows Explorer to copy loads of albums across to it from my music folder. It seems I might have tried to copy too much over at one go, because eventually the file copying just stopped, and I had to unplug the Zen Xtra from the PC to abandon the copy process. Since then, neither Zen device has been properly recognised by any of my PCs. When I plug the Zen Xtra into?a USB port, Windows brings up the messages: "Found new hardware: Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra" and "Found new hardware: MTP device", then brings up the Found New Hardware Wizard, even though firmware 2.0.03 is supposed to provide "seamless support with any computer running Microsoft? Windows Media? Player 0 and Windows? XP - no drivers or software needed" (I have WMP0.00.00.4036 installed). The Zen Xtra's display does not show the "docked" icon except when plugged into my laptop (running XP Home Edition)... but even on the laptop Windows still asks for a driver, which it then fails to install properly. When I plug my Zen Touch into my PC, it detects that an MTP device has been connected, but Windows Media Player doesn't list it under the Sync tab, and when I try to install the "Creative Software Suite for PlaysForSure-enabled Creative Zen Touch Players", the installer complains that "Setup could not detect any portable device on your system... please ensure that Zen Touch PlaysForSure Firmware is properly installed". The device's firmware version is 2..0, and as I have already said, both this and the Zen Xtra were working fine with my PC up until a couple of days ago. Additionally, the "docked" icon?no longer appears?on the Zen Touch's display when plugged into the PC. I have made the registry change suggested in Creative Knowledge Base Solution ID #9287, and my PC is up-to-date with Windows Hotfixes. I've also tried uninstalling all Creative programs and reinstalling them one at a time, but I can not get my PC to correctly work with the Zen devices anymore. Any suggestions? Also, is there some kind of Factory Reset that I can do to get my Zen Xtra back to an earlier firmware?

I had the same issue. My battery ran down during a sync, then I was unable to sync again.
The Zen is showing up fine in the device manager, but none of the software (Media Player, MediaSource) sees it.
Finally, after a day of trying new drivers, running cleanup, etc. I decided to go into the Zen's recovery menu. To get there, press and hold the Play button and press and hold the reset (use a paperclip) button while powering up.
Once there, select the first option in the menu to Clean up the system. I forgot what it's called and I'm in the middle of a sync now, so can't look.
    Worked fine after that. Phew!
If your device is being detected fine, but cannot sync, try that and post here if it fixes it.

  • [zen V+ 8Gb] zen won't allow me to upload further a certain storage s

Hi, that's me again... http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ssage.id=89277?Since the last time the zen got shipped back from assistance despite it wasn't working as expected (it kept 'freezing' while uploading large amounts of tracks per time) I decided to follow the assistance guy advice: uploading small chunk of data per time?in order to avoid the?rescue -> format procedure all times. Still it wasn't a?rather satysfing answer for a 30 euro brand new mp3 player but, given it takes about one month to have it fixed from lab?and?given that the more and more it seems to me that fixing an issue cause another to promptly emerge?I decided to follow the advice of the small amount of upload per time... But?since then?I?uploaded about 3 Gb of tracks and?adding further tracks proven in the last week end -you know, the days you may wish to take your bycicle for a ride?listening at?your favorite tunes- to be impossible. First I tryed as usual to sync it with media monkey thus adding the few new tracks, but PC stalled and zen did too. Obviously?it meant to?format the zen, since it't so smartly designed that if its special driver doesn't communicate that the session?is over with its very special message?zen it's unable to rebuild the music library properly, hence a?rescue ->?format all procedure is required.
So i did that, and I kept doing?for about 2 times, each time shrinking the amount of tracks to upload:?the problem seems to me happen after a certain amount of?memory?is filled. Perhaps some sectors of the memory are damaged or the firmware is unable to store them properly. This size limit seems to me?set at about 4 Gb, now?I'm?trying to?exactly mark that, to find out?at what?track?the communication beetwen PC -> Zen fails. I wish to know if it is a known issue?or sounds familiar to other users?or if I'm just?this unlucky. Then, if it's a known iddue is there some workaround I can do home?to avoid assistance lab?I have XP pro SP 2. I use media monkey to sync and I downloaded / used the zen recovery tool from creative site. thank you?Message Edited by maldido_gringo on 08-2-200703:4 AM

Hi,?Looks like we've been very unlucky!?I'm sending my zen?back to?assistance?on monday, I'm going to stay another month whitout my music... it's ther third time!?Needless to say I'm really done with creative, my next buy will be a Cowon IAudio, it looks?to me very?well built and realible,?and it doesn't need?the messy MTP driver, you know? The one that if something goes wrong while the transfering need you to format everithing.... Cowon is just like an external storage: something goes wrong while uploading? It gonna prompt some message and that's all, no?messy math to ensure the MTP compliance,?one just put the music on and start listening. One doesn't have to stay?three months?with his player sent to assistance, hearing something like "hey, here it looks all fine to us! Your player looks just fine to us!", have it sent back and have it still not working properly, for the third time!!!?ciao?marcello

  • Zen Touch or Zen Mi

Hi, I want to get a digital music player but I'm in a bit of a dilemma. The Zen Touch and Micro are the same price but obviously the Touch has four times the capacity of the Micro. The problem is I only have 3.8GB of music and while I might get a bit more there's only a possibility I might need the extra space. What I basically want to know is if there is any advantage to having a Micro over a Touch, as if there isn't I may as well go for the Touch.
I know there isn't much chance that anybody actually owns both of these but if anyone can help me I'd be grateful.
    Thanks.

I have a 5gb micro, with about 8 gb of music, i got it because i dont listen to all of that music at once, and my old MuVo TX could only hold about 5 or 6 CD's at a time. So if you have almost 4gb, maybe you should consider the micro over the touch. It is indeed smalller, more portable, the batteries can be swapped out, FM radio, and i hear that the touch pad on the touch is overly sensiti've. the Micro is really easy for me to use, but again, i've never used a touch.
