  • Zen-Coding for Dreamweaver CS5

    Folks,
I have discovered a great tool to optimize our time when we are coding: Zen-Coding. You can discover more about it reading the dzone´s article and the Smashing Magazine´s article.
The problem is that It didn´t work in my Dreamweaver CS5. I could install but nothing works. I read that it is possible to access it through Commands>Expand Abbreviation but this doesn´t appear for me.
    Could anyone help me, please?
    All the best.

A friend also informed me about this issue and called me up to help view the problem. i understand that most applications that run on both mac system and Windows usually have a problem of 'ctrl' and 'cmd' respectively.
You will need to search for the configuration configuration folder of the version of your dreamweaver. For example: if you are using version CS6, "c:\users\[computer name]\appdata\roaming\adobe\dreamweaver cs6\en-us\configuration\menus\menus.xml".
These are few things to note:
you might need to enable 'show hidden folder' to see the 'appdata'
if you use the run button from start up windows, you will notice that the command will stop @ dreamweaver (bcos there might be a dreamweaver folder b4 dreamweaver CS6) and then  you will need to go back to 'adobe' and then to dreamweaver CS6 and continue to the destination file.
Lastly, it will also depend on the language of the dreamweaver that was installed; for the example that is above it is clear that en-us was installed on the system.
You will now need to open the menu.xml file using either notepad or wordpad or any text editor then search for zencoding
    change
    <menuitem id="DWMenu_Commands_ZenCoding_expandAbbreviation" name="_Expand Abbreviation" key="Cmd+," file="Commands/ZenCoding.html" arguments="'expand_abbreviation'" />
    to
    <menuitem id="DWMenu_Commands_ZenCoding_expandAbbreviation" name="_Expand Abbreviation" key="Choose your key (e.g. Tab or tab)" file="Commands/ZenCoding.html" arguments="'expand_abbreviation'" />
Save the file and restart your dreamweaver.
try div#name and it should give you <div id ="name"><div>
I hope this works for you.

  • Where is SQL color coding in Dreamweaver?

I can't seem to find the SQL color coding in Dreamweaver
CS4... how can this be omitted from such a product? Is it staring
me in the face and I am just incredibly dull and can't find
    it?

    Alphom wrote:
    > The idea that Dreamweaver doesn't include simple code
coloring for SQL files is ridiculous.
Dreamweaver's SQL creation handles very simple SQL pretty
easy, think SELECT * FROM or SELECT col1, col2, col3 WHERE id =
parameter. But beyond that, Dreamweaver just isn't the tool for
    editing/creating SQL.
I can't think of the last time that I used Dreamweaver to
create SQL beyond the above. If I need something more complex, I'll
either enter it in myself into the SQL string in a recordset, or
use other SQL specific tools to create SQL such as Enterprise
Manger for SQL Server, or SQL Server Management Studio Express for
SQL Server 2005, or MySQL Control Center for MySQL, that sort of
thing. Not every tool can do everything, so I try to use the
appropriate tool for the appropriate task.
Now, that doesn't mean that I don't feel like it should allow
for a better application building experience within Dreamweaver. I
feel that there should be a full fledged query builder similar to
the query builder within Access that would allow for complex SQL
generation. But I've asked for that, and if you want it, or other
server/database related features, please do ask for it:

  • Did anyone set Zen Coding for Medit successfuly?

    http://sites.google.com/site/tool4medit/home/zen-coding
There's a file which contains "tools" and "tools-module" directories. I unpacked them to ".local/share/medit-1/" (as the instructions say) and started Medit. Something appeared in "Tools" menu of Medit but no sign of Zen Coding. Did anyone install in successfuly there? What were your exact steps?

    Hello Studygirl,
    Welcome to Creative forums!
Zen V uses the Microsoft MTP driver, which is already in Vista. Therefore, it should work right out of the box, especially with Windows Media Player . Just plug your device and use WMP to transfer songs. You should be good to go.

I have used Dreamweaver in the past for basic web design

    Thanks

I don't get it. What good would Cartweaver do someone whose

  • Photoshop cs2 to dreamweaver 8

I know this will be a very simple question for some people,
but am wondering if there is an easy answer to my question.
I am a graphic designer running creative suite 2 on the mac,
and although I am not totally stupid I still have issues with a few
basics. When I have for example my 800x600 psd/jpg file I have real
problems building it in dreamweaver. I have been told not to use
fireworks or photoshop's built in export to html/css (true/false?)
as it impliments bad code, and just to export the images and do the
    rest in dreamweaver.
I don't really want to hand code the whole thing, not that I
could. But honestly what is the best way for me to do this? as
sometimes when I place the images in cells or tables the design
does not hold together (especially in safari). What is the best way
to keep sliced up images together. I can use css to style the page
no probs, but its just the basic structure I am really struggling
with. I feel once I get this basic problem sorted I will be flying
so any help would be really awesome
    thanks for the help:

Actually, roundtripping in CS2 was quite good from what I
    hear.
Since you mentioned not be comfortable with doing the hand
coding in Dreamweaver, I would consider two options:
    1) Just do the page design in Fireworks and export for use in
Dreamweaver. Open Dreamweaver and finish your page. Remember that
you can designate specific spots as HTML or graphic (JPG/GIF) in
Fireworks. You get this by selecting the slice and specifying the
property for the slice (as either HTML or a graphic image). Open in
Dreamweaver to finalize your text elements. Pretty straightforward
and you don't have to worry about individual image breakups that
    you are experiencing.
    2) Get energized and determined that you are going to learn
to cut images individually and then bring them into Dreamweaver and
place them. Place them by placing your cursor in the code section
and hitting return in the code section, then add your next graphic
element. If you do it visually, you may often get spacing problems
from paragraph breaks, etc. You'll have to experiment and learn the
steps on this one, but that should get you going.
    Hope that helps!
    Take Care,
    Chris

  • Need help with coding for HTML5 Video with Flash fallback

Hello, need help with my coding in Dreamweaver CS5.5 for HTML5 video with Flash fallback. Not sure if the coding is correct. Do I need anything else Javascipt etc?

The reason you see a blank page is because it's trying to load the file that is pretty humungous and there is no preloader. So, you see a white screen till it complets loading.
Also, the reason why its loading a SWF file and not any of HTML5 type video is because your doctype declaration is XHTML1.0 and not HTML5.
Change the 1st line in your .html file from:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    to:
    <!DOCTYPE html>
Then see if your HTML5 video types load with <video> tag.

  • DreamWeaver 8 & PHP

When I enter a PHP code into this page, it messes up the
design view. When you view it in a browser, everything is in the
correct spot. I'm not that great with coding so dreamweaver's
design view helps me 80% of time. I can't do much if I cant see
what I am doing. Is there a way I can fix this?
    Here is a page showing
    the problems.

Bear in mind that there is a difference between "Layout Mode"
    and "layout
view", and the latter is not being removed from DW, although
    it's more
    accurately called "Design View". 8)

In addition to the missing doc type declaration, you have other code errors which will confound newer browsers.  See below for details.

  • Can anyone help with this coding question?

I was asked to create an artist page for a musician on myspace. I created the whole layout to look awesome but then when I grabbed the code in dreamweaver and placed it into myspace, it said violation of terms. I saw that myspace uses tables and so the actual coding from dreamweaver doesn't get read by myspace. How do I design a myspace profile without using a profile editor?

Start with a bonifide MySpace CSS Theme.
Paste your CSS code into the About Me box in your profile.

  • Sliced and imported photoshop layout into dreamweaver

First, I am a newbie to all of this web design stuff and
coding and dreamweaver. I wanted to create my first website so here
I am. I went through 2 different tutorials (youtube and on
lynda.com) I created a layout in photoshop and I also sliced it. I
imported it into dreamweaver (CS3 by the way).....I somewhat
understand what I am doing. I did all the defining a site and I
clicked on the content box that I sliced and deleted it and
inserted a div / added the image that go there, then I made that
area editable. The layout I imported I saved it as a
template.Anyway, so basically I am clicking on each sliced area,
deleting it, and inserting a div there. No problem. Now, the sliced
areas that has about, home, contact, etc.....those I needed to make
as links/clickable images. So, before performing the delete then
inserting a div part.....I first clicked on the sliced area then at
the bottom of the screen, where it says link, I did a point to
file, basically linked it. Now, when I preview it in the browser,
it displays boxes around the sliced navigation menu, which it is
nit suppose to. see here is a screen shot...
    http://i36.tinypic.com/2eowewm.jpg
What did I do wrong? Why is it showing up in a table when I
didn't create it in a table? How can I remove that purple looking
    table border?
Also, when I go to each of the sliced navigation menu, then
delete it and insert a div..... the image there...it will not let
me turn it into a link.
How do I turn my sliced navigation menu images into links. I
know I am doing something wrong but just don't know what it is. Is
there a code I can use or am I suppose to modify or insert
something? and how do I remove the box from around it?
What is an easy way? Is there a tutorial out there?
I want my layout to look like what I mocked up in photoshop.
Is there a way I can create the same layout in dreamweaver? The
problem isn't the background, it's trying to get the pink area in
the center of the lalayout. I didn't know how to do that so thats
why I tried the way of creating it in photoshop.
    Please help

  • Custom Color Coding

    Hi,
I'd like to alter the color coding in dreamweaver, so that
comments and inline comments are handled different... it would make
my life just a bit easier. This would be for an actionscript
document. I've made the following changes:
in codecoloring.xml, I altered this line:
    <endOfLineComment name="InlineComment"
    id="CodeColor_ActionscriptInlineComment">//</endOfLineComment>
in codecolors.xml, I added this line:
    <syntaxColor id="CodeColor_ActionscriptInlineComment"
    text="#DEDEDE" />
This does nothing though. I haven't found any documentation
on editing these files... anyone know?
    Thanks,

    Geoff,
That looks about right. Make sure that you are editing the
    xml in the
User Configuraiton folder and not the Application
    Configuration folder.
    This TechNote explains the difference:

  • No install because menus can't be updated

    Hi,
I just tried to install the «Zen-Coding» extension for DreamWeaver CS4 (http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/index.cfm?event=extensionDetail&extid=1965527) on a Mac G5 PPC running OS X 10.5.8. All I get after accepting the TOC in Extension Manager is a message that the extension won't be installed because the menus cannot be updated.
Other extensions like e.g. http://code.google.com/p/chrismckee-project-bay/wiki/HTML5Weaver install without a hitch.
Any help is gratefully appreciated, thank you!

I have the same problem installing the BC Extension. Using DW CS5.5, german on an iMac with Lion (10.7)
Already gave that issue to the BC support team. Any help or support would be great!

  • Sharepoint Designer 2010 and HTML Editing

    Hi -
This may sound like a stupid question, but is there WYSIWG in Sharepoint Designer 2010?  I've got to do basic HTML code, insert items, insert links, insert columns/tables, etc.  I don't see a way to do this in Designer?  Maybe I'm blind?  I
am used to coding in Dreamweaver.   Should I just assume that I'm going to have to continue to do my code/designs in Dreamweaver and then copy it in to Designer?
I'm pretty confused, I thought I could do some basic HTML (aside of editing fonts/colors etc) in Designer.  I'm basically trying to create a wiki page with FAQ style text and some images and buttons.
I'm new to all this, I come from an admin and web design background, not really a Sharepoint Design/Development background.
    Thanks for any help!
